Pull Cell Info From Workbooks In Server Directory And Paste Values In Master Sheet
Oct 3, 2012
I have been trying for months to get this to work by altering code from similar requests I've hunted down on google to no avail.
I am looking to have a "Master" sheet that is populated by data from 30+ individual excel workbooks. Each workbook is contained on a server in a directory "O:JobsJobs In Progress." In that directory are subfolders (named in sequence "C12000 Job1", "C12001 Job2", etc) which contain the actual workbook (Named according to number ie. "C12000 Jobinfo").
I would like this "Master" to automatically pull specific values from each C1200* workbook and paste them in a designated cell so that I can quickly look at specific information contained in each workbook. Each C1200* workbook is constructed the same way.
Short Example of C1200* workbook in which data will be pulled from:
Job Number
C12000
PM
Abe Lincoln
Foreman
Thomas Edison
Contract Date
1/1/10
I want vba code to pull data from two sheet in workbook, code has to pull all data from first sheet , then pull data from second sheet and paste some particular column only below first column sheet
e.g i pull data from two sheet(ONSITE&CCI)
SHEET-1ONSITE CONTAINS HAVE 57 COLUMN SHEET-2 CCI CONTAINS ONLY 19 COLUMN FIRST I PULL 57 COLUMN DATA ONCE FINISH MOVE TO SECOND SHEET CCI CONTAINS 19 COLUMN BUT ITS HAS TO PASTE DATA BELOW DATA OF ONSITE TO PARTICULAR ASSIGNED COLUMN'S ONLY BUT COLUMN NAMES IN BOTH SHEET IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT
I don't really know how to search this question but what I am trying to do is pull information from one worksheet to another only containing numbers greater than 0. For example, i have an order sheet containing everything that is in stock, then I go down the list and put in the number of items being sold (1,2,3, etc). Some items will have a value of zero.
Then the items that have numbers (the ones that are being sold) I want to be able to pull these numbers along with the item description onto another worksheet which will be the invoice. Then excel will add up the prices of only the items being sold and give me a total value on the invoice. Is this doable?
I've got a master excel sheet with about 6000 rows of unique variables. In separate source files, I have many rows of these variables with information next to each. Each file has a random number of these variables, some a couple of hundred, some a thousand or two.
What I'm looking to do is to have the master sheet with all 6000 rows and have all of the information next to each variable, with new columns for each new bit of information.
I could sit there for hours copying and pasting each new bit of information to the relevant variable in the master sheet, but I'm convinced there's a quicker way. Is there, for example, a way to filter the master sheet based on the variables contained in one of the source files and therefore (once a-z sorted) copy all the information from a source file and simply paste it into the master file? Then once the filter is lifted the same can be done for the next file (there's only about 20 source files so that's manageable).
I had to copy data from child woekbooks (*.xls) and paste it to the master workbook with same page to page every time when a macro is executed i had done the copy and paste part
But I'm Facing the problem in which i had to deal with
Validations as on both master and child sheet validation (column based combo box is activated ) one is worktype 2ns is time type
i jst had to copy data to the master macro works perfectly fine but the problem is that a msg box appears which signifies that i had to change the name (version ) for both types when i click yes 2 times it pastes the data
I'm attaching my macro as well as pic of that msg box with this attachment
how to loop through workbooks in a certain directory and copy the rows in sheet1 where column B contains numbers greater than zero, and then pasting them into a new master workbook. The sheets will be named differently each week but will always be in the same directory.
I get 'x' number of workbooks(with one sheet only) everyweek from which I need to copy data and paste to a master worksheet. (SCREEN CAPTURE BELOW)
I am unable to write the code myself as I have never worked on VBA and am only a beginner.
Part I:
The data I need to copy starts from the 19th row (A19:H19). The end point is determined by the row just before the row that has the words "Calibration Request" in it.
Part II: Just below the data that was pasted from Part I, the data from 2 rows below the words "Calibration Request" needs to be pasted. The end point for this would be a blank row encounter.
Data extract from sheet to sheet through column header values, i have set of data on sheet1,2..loop end of sheet
i want pull column data from multiple sheet column values into masterdata sheet depends upon column header values assigned in masterdata sheet.. my code works fine! but i want pull data if column header repeats more than one also
SO_NBR this is one heading in multiple sheets i cant pull col values not more than once under if SO_NBR repeats more than once.
[Code] .....
Find the attachment mentioned as expected result sheets is my requirement : HEADER_UPDATES_AIO_$.xls
I am usuing INDEX and MATCH to pull back employees hours from a master sheet, I am asking excel to Index, matiching firstly the agents name and then the day of the week (Formatted: Mon,Tue,Wed,Thurs,Fri,Sat,Sun). This works perfectly for every day of the week using the following formuls except for Sun where it returns #REF!
I have a folder that contains many workbooks that contain the same layout of information just with different workbook names. Im looking to copy certain customer information from each WB to a master sheet, such as name, adress, city, ect.
-Folder to lookin for all WB's information - D:Documents and SettingsRonMy DocumentsNew Folder (3)
-The sheet to copy the info from in each WB is named "Quote"
-The ranges to copy are B5:D5, B6:D6, F6:I6, K6:M6
-I want to use a command button to trigger the code and copy the info to the open WB on Sheet12.
-The info going into in sheet12 is layed out across each column.
Example of Sheet12:
A1 = B5:D5, B1 = B6:D6, C1= F6:I6, D1 = K6:M6, so each copied WB will used the same layout and just copy to the next line. Example : A1 = B5:D5, B1 = B6:D6, C1= F6:I6, D1 = K6:M6 (Ea. WB information) A2 = B5:D5, B1 = B6:D6, C1= F6:I6, D1 = K6:M6 (Ea. WB information) A3 = B5:D5, B1 = B6:D6, C1= F6:I6, D1 = K6:M6 (Ea. WB information)
Pull Column Data (Sheet3) from Master.xls and past to Column 4, Sheet4 of WorkingSS.xls
I'm assuming this would be done with VBA or a really exotic macro.
The Funky Part would be that the WorkingSS.xls file column data is being copied/pasted too (WorkingSS1.xls or WorkingSS2.xls ect) the file may be different every time so I would need an insert in macro or VBA to "Choose File Please..." then continue.
The Master.xls workbook has spreadsheet lets say "Sheet1" in which I need all the data in Column A (except the header or cell A:1) copied TO WorkingSS1.xls on Sheet4, Column B, but Column B already has about 6000 rows of info, so I need it copied to the very end of (A:6001 although it will be different everytime) or the first empty cell at the bottom of that column.
next another Column from Master.xls workbook lets say "Sheet1" again in which I need all the data in lets say "Column B" copied to the WorkingSS1.xls on Sheet4, Column F. Caveat this time is that the data needs to copied to the same row as the first copy/past. So it would be pasted into F:6001. Double caveat is that the Column F contains no other data except for what we are about to paste in.
I have several more steps of automation to be done here but this is the beginning and a big hump I need to get past. The rest I think I can do.
Attached is a master metrics deck, where data needs to be refreshed every week, from two different workbooks.
The catch is, the two parent workbooks would be new versions every week (data would be same format, and style within), but file name would change each week, for eg: for 1st workbook, 'XXX_Weekly_Week24.xlsx' to 'XXX_Weekly_Week25.xlsx' and so on.
for 2nd workbook, 'YYY_Weekly_Week24.xlsx' to 'YYY_Weekly_Week25.xlsx' and so on.
In the master metrics deck, a consolidated vew of some of data from workbook 1 and workbook 2 is presented for each week.
This master file would remain same, and only be refreshed each week (preferably with a button on its sheet "REFRESH!!")
Next, need to manually change cells C2:G2 each week to reflect week titles correctly.
For e.g.: week6 would show week 1 through week 5, but during week7, it needs to show week 2 to week 6. Only last five weeks of data any given time.
The first datarows of each set are conditionally formatted (they are compared with other rows in the set and need to reflect danger values, good values etc) (I have done that already).
I will have about 100 files to merge together that are in one directory. Is it possible to merge all workSHEETS named "Bob" from each workBOOK and end up with just one master file?
I found this code on this web site (no proper reference!). It doesn't work for me. Yes, I changed the directory and it still didn't work. I will have 12 columns (A:L) and differing # of rows in each "Bob" worksheet.
VB: Sub g_CombineMultWB_AllXLSFiles() ' This Will combine all EMALL XLS files located in the ' S:DMSMSPOMSMaster POMS NIIN DataMaster EMALL Data FilesEMALL Excel Folder ' into a single worksheet in a newly created (or previously existing) workbook
I would like to loop through all spreadsheets in a folder, copy sheet "january" from each spreadsheet into a mastersheet. No idea how using vb all help appreciated.
i would like to change the name of the sheet to a cell reference before it gets pasted into the new sheet.
I have a workbook with a Cost Analysis sheet, a master menu sheet, and then all the sub sheets. I have coded command buttons on the master sheet, so once a category is selected, it goes to the appropriate sub sheet. On the subsheet is a list of items of varying sizes, and command buttons beside that which will allow the user to "Select" that particular size. Once the size is selected, the verbage in cell B5 plus the verbage (size) beside the selected amount, and the prices (labor and materials) in the next two columns, need to be transferred to the first available blank line, starting with line C5, to the Cost Analysis sheet. I have never done coding before for a Loop (i.e. For i = ???) and am not sure how to get it to do what I want. After they select that, they can pick a command button that takes them back to the master menu so they can continue picking various items until they are through. Then the Cost Analysis sheet will show all the items they picked, (name of item, material cost and labor cost: Columns B, C, & D). Not everything is coded yet (such as selecting a command button to go back to the main menu, because I wanted to make sure I could solve this problem before doing the easy stuff).
I read over quite a few of the previous threads and am not sure how to change them to suit my circumstance. I know some code (VB), but not much. I do not understand the concept of DIM, and how the loop works to make it happen myself, and all the websites I could find were not suited to my situation of copying three cells of data to the first blank cell on another sheet.
I tried all failed. We have about 160 different workbooks (one for each business unit) stored online. Staff enters information about their weekly revenue and expenses and here at head office I collect that information and consolidate them. What I am trying to do is that;1.) Create a master Workbook with ~160 worksheets (One worksheet for each unit) named exactly the same with other workbooks2.) And macro can pull the information from related files stored in a certain folderIt is very much like another members problem but I am not sure why I cant get that code working for me? [URL]
I am trying to put togther a VBA form button click to do the following: I have several customer names all in master sheet A1 - A300. I want the code to notice that there is a new customer and generate a new sheet, naming the sheet the customers name and copying and paste the entire sheet named 'worksheet' to this newly generated sheet.
I have 30 xlsx files in a folder and I want the first sheet of all that files to be merged to a new workbook. The thing is I don't want the macro to copy paste the value in to the same sheet of the new master sheet like Ron's excel merge tool does. I want a macro to create new 30 sheets on the master file and copy the data from source files. And I want the newly added sheets to be renamed as the source file name. This works well except the sheet renaming thing.
Sub Merge2MultiSheets() Dim wbDst As Workbook Dim wbSrc As Workbook
I have to worksheets, the first is filled out and at the end Ive place a button that I would like to open the second sheet and fill in cells that have duplicate info from the first, so just copy & paste but kind of automated for speed.
I have only got as far as opening the second document with the macro, after that im stuck!
The Info I would like to be copied across from the "service Diary" to the "Service Report" would be As follows: *CUSTOMER *CONTACT *MACHINE TYPE *SERIAL NUMBER *QUOTE NUMBER *ORDER NUMBER
I have a workbook that is being used by many individuals. Within it contains links to an external workbook on a server. Currently the links in the workbook map the server to drive "T".
If a different user maps the same server to another drive letter, I assume these links need to be updated with the drive letter he/she is using for that server?
I purchased the book VBA and Macros for excel and it has gotten me pretty far in this code, but I am having difficulty with one code though. I want the Macro to run through a specified directory, and copy the contents of the specified cells (9th row to last row) from each file and paste them in the next available space on my master. Then repeat this process for each file in the file directory. So far, it is successfully going through each file, but it isn't pasting it to my master sheet.
Dim lCount As Long Dim wbResults As Workbook Dim wbCodeBook As Workbook Dim ws As Worksheet Dim NextRow As Long
I want create a macro which will extract 6 values (see below) from a workbook tab called summary to an master workbook for reporting purposes. Each workbook has a unique file name e,g ACI1150.
Values on sheet SUMMARY: A1 A2 A3 G21 G24 G26
I tried to adapt the below to get one item copied/extracted. However it would no work.
I am new to using macros
Sub GetG26s() Dim MyDir As String, FN As String, SN As String, NR As Long Application.ScreenUpdating = False
For Column A-I would like to create a macro that will copy the info from cell A1 and paste in in A2. This will continue all the way to the last row containing info which will vary. So after the first copy/paste, it well go to A3 and copy paste onto A4, A5 will copy and paste onto A6 etc.
For Column B- The same only it will copy the contents of B2 and paste it on B1, B4 copy/paste to B3 all the way until the last row of data.
Here is a project I can’t seem to do on my own if you can point me in the right direction I would be grateful! here is the best suedo code to describe the needs of the script:
In the open workbook named MASTER, on Worksheet named -MASTER- ( Let’s refer to this all as just MASTER)
(In production, the name of this workbook will be an account #_ date, and the worksheet will be a date)
For each numeric value in row 6 (we’ll call these values AD###) of MASTER
'*****Part one of routine*****
Search directory "H:AccountingAdvertising Accounts" for workbook named AD### AX.xls
(Note the AX suffix of the file name) If match is found open workbook and proceed to Part two
If match is not found, goto Private Sub AD_MISSING
I have a standard template worksheet called "Input" (the workbooks name is "Input Capture") which spans C12:U1100.
In addition I have a seperate worksheet which is based in an all entirely seperate workbook called "People Data" (the workbooks name is "Succession Planning") which again spans C12:U1100.
What I would ideally like is a macro which matches the value in column C and populates the entire row (much in the same way as a HLOOKUP, only pasting values) with the exception of columns M and Q.
I have a workbook with 8 tabs and one master tab. The 8 tabs are where the user enters information and the master sheet contains all employees from the 8 tabs. All tabs, including the master, have the same columns in the same order. How can I automatically have the information populate to the master tab as information is changed on the tab groups? I had a vlookup on the master sheet going through all of the sheets however it slowed my report down tremendously and caused too much lag.
I have one worksheet with 238 rows and another with 163 rows. I want to pull information into the sheet with 238 rows whenever there is a match to a record in the 163 rows. I tried VLookup, but as soon as it gets to a record in the 238 that doesn't exist in the 163 it gives errrors and stops. I've looked at =offset and =offset(match) but I'm not finding anything that deals with the situation of not always being a one-to-one (or even one-to many) relationship. Ultimately I want to pull the Category & Project fields into the records matching on IDNumb in Sheet 1 but Sheet 1 has more records than Sheet2. example......
I have an excel file with 9 sheets and I want to copy all the data from those sheets to a master sheet but with out the formulas . I need the values only to appear in the master sheet. I used the following vba macro code which I found it while I was searching for an answer, it did it perfectly except for the formula part. !! I guess, it has to be edited by adding some codes with paste options but I don't know how!
Code: ' CollectMasterData Macro ' Sub CopyToMaster() Dim wkSht As Worksheet Dim DestSht As Worksheet Dim DestRow As Long Set DestSht = Sheets("MasterData")
[code].....
Note: my headers are @ row 1 and 2 and my formula is in column A.
I pulled a report into excel that lists staff details and workgroups that they have access to. There are nearly 8000 staff who can have anywhere from 0 to 120 workgroups.
The workgroups are listed with the staff details in the following format:
