Counting Number Of Days Over A Time Scale - Graph

Oct 6, 2012

I have got a project that has several hundred starts and finishes. I want to count them over time to use as an indication of progress. ( I want to show this graphically)

I have got the graph working but it is pretty long handed.

I have tried using a pviot table and picvot graph which almost does it but has a few problems (if there is no data in a month then it wont create an entry for the month, and the cumulative over time is not quite working).

Both examples are in the attached file : Progress Curve ozgrid1.xlsx

Counting The Number Of Days Overdue Based On Date And Time?

Jun 17, 2014

I have the following:

A1 = Date item is due. (DD/MM/YY format)

A2 = Time the item was delivered (HH:MM:SS format)

B1 = Actual Date item was delivered.

B2 = Actual Time item was delivered.

I'd like C1 to count the number of days the item was late. - taking into account that 16:00:00 is the deadline on each date.

For example:

Due Date: 17/06/14 @ 16:00:00

Arrival Date: 17/06/14 @ 16:01:00

Days Late = 1

Due Date: 17/06/14 @ 16:00:00

Arrival Date: 18/06/14 @ 15:00:00

Represent Number Of Days Into A Scale For Statistics

Sep 30, 2008

I have a scenario where by Column A is date incident opened and Colum B is date incident closed.

And Column C shows the days between them. I got this and its fine. However, how do i
make a table or in any how define it as if the number is 1 - 3 days then it should be A

1-3 days = A
4-6 days = B
7-8 days = C
9 days onwards = D

This is because i need to make a chart and graph of the turn around time and the best is to define into a character alphabet so the chart will show the statistics of how many A, B, C and D But how do i do that.

Counting Days In Date/Time Format

Sep 10, 2008

I am trying to count the number of orders written per day. I used the following formula on another sheet and it worked fine, however on this one, A8 is a date only, and F2:F2000 is a date and a time.

I tried reformating the cell for date only, and it displays only the date, however, the time information is still stored, and I can't get it to do the count. Is there a way to count the date regardless of the time?

=COUNTIF('ACT Legacy'!$F$2:$F$2000,Stats!A8)

This list goes on with every workday of the month repeat several times, with no day have any set number of entries. Also each new month is just tacked on to the previous list. All of this is in column A but there are many other columns of data with these dates. I just didn't see the need to replicate that here.

What I need is to be able to count the number of unique days per each month but I do not want to have to specify a range for the month of January, then another range for February, etc. I just want to be able to list the column A4:A1200 and have the formula select just the unique days for January. Then in another cell modify the formula for unique days in February and so on.

Counting Number Of Events / Pivot Table / Graph?

Jul 18, 2014

My ultimate goal is to take my spreadsheet listing a large number of events and attendees and create a graph that gives a breakdown of the distribution of events by type.

The spreadsheet looks something like this

Event A_________Date 1_________Type 1_________John
Event A_________Date 1_________Type 1_________Kate
Event B_________Date 2_________Type 1_________Mary
Event C_________Date 3_________Type 2_________Lisa
Event C_________Date 3_________Type 2_________Will
Event D_________Date 4_________Type 3_________Jim
Event E_________Date 5_________Type 2_________Bob

Etc. (Note I don't need the date for my information, I was just including it to give an idea of what I'm working with.)

I'm trying to create a pivot table that lists the all the different Types and then the number of Events that each Type has, so I can make a graph that shows it.

Counting Total Number Of Days In Specified Period For Dataset

Sep 25, 2013

I am trying to find a way of counting the total number of days medical devices were in-situ for a fairly large dataset.
The worksheet has a few thousand rows. Column A - unique identifier for patient; column B - date inserted (Aug 02 - Aug 13); column C - date removed or audit date. There is no missing data, all rows have both dates. Some devices in for few days or weeks, some for up to 7 years.

I want to count each 12 month period (starting 1 Aug 02) the total "device days" for that year. (e.g. if device inserted 1 Feb 03 and removed 1 Apr 03, in year period starting 1 Aug 02 would have been in for 59 days. Another device inserted on same day and not removed until 9 Sept 05, would for first period (01/08/02- 31/07/03) 181 days, second period 366 days, third 365 days and fourth (01/08/05-31/07/06) 39 days). Therefore for the two rows, the first period total would be 240 days (59+181).

Counting Number Of Days For Each Employee Since Last Day Of Absence / Tardy

Aug 9, 2013

I am trying to get the correct formula to count the number of days it has been for each employee since the last occurrence of an absence/tardy. For each employee, starting with the beginning of the year, we mark and employee as Absent as an "A" or Tardy as "T". See below the examples.

...................................1/1 ....1/2 ....1/3 ....1/4 ....1/5 ....1/6 ....1/7 ....1/8 ....1/9 ....1/10 ....1/11 ....1/12 ....1/13

Captain America ................................A ..........................T .....................................T
Incredible Hulk.......................................................................................... A
Spider Man ........................................................................................................................ ........A
Iron Man ....................................................T

( I added dots because it wouldn't let me space them out?)

We are keeping track so that employees have the ability to make up numbers because after so many occurrences they can become terminated. If an employee has about 60 days in a row without an infraction, that employee can deduct a day from their total on the year.

Any formula to use. Also to include a vlookup so that I could have their name as well with the number of days on a separate tab!

Set Chart/Graph Minimum/Maximum Scale To Nth Smallest & Largest Value

May 15, 2008

I am trying to manually format a few graphs in my sheet. I, however, leave the major units of the axes to be automatically calculated. The code that I use is given below:

ActiveChart.Axes(xlValue).Select
With ActiveChart.Axes(xlValue)
.MinimumScale = Range("Min").Value
.MaximumScale = Range("Max").Value
End With

Now what this does is that it sets the maximum of the scale exactly equal to maximum of the range being plotted and hence a few parts of my graph overlap with the border of the plot area. Is there any way in which I can round the max and min scale of y-axis to the next highest and lowest major unit respectively or may be add and subtract a value proportional to the major unit of the y-axis. I cannot add a constant in the code given above since I that does not suite my requirements.

Number Of Days Worked Over A Time Frame

Aug 11, 2009

I need to be able to calculate the actual number of days worked for an employee over a specific date range. I have a data sheet containing employee, transactions, and date of transaction (date only, does not include time). The actual number of days worked may fluctuate due to time off or holidays, so I need to be able to calculate this individually by employee. For example, with columns Employee, Transaction, & Transaction Date:

123 ABC 07/01/2009
123 ABC 07/02/2009
123 DEF 07/02/2009
123 GHI 07/02/2009
123 ABC 07/03/2009
123 ABC 07/07/2009
123 DEF 07/07/2009
123 ABC 07/08/2009
123 ABC 07/09/2009
etc....

Should return 4 work days for employee 123 over the date range 07/01/2009-07/07/2009

Calculation Time Not Scale With Worksheet Size

Feb 14, 2013

I have a rather large spreadsheet that takes a long time to calculate. One sheet has the data (about 2800 rows by 650 columns), with samples in rows and data for each sample in the columns. A second sheet has functions to group the data according to predefined patterns. That second spreadsheet is about 800 columns wide and as many rows as I need it to be, as the samples don't need to be analyzed all at once.

Ideally I would like to do all samples at once by making the second spreadsheet 2800 rows high, but the calculation time is just way too long. And there's the problem. The calculation time seems to increase exponentially with the number of rows I calculate at a time. I ran a few tests making it different sizes, and here are the results:

rows
time(seconds)

100
3.5
150
12
200
23

[Code]...

I tried both HLOOKUP and INDEX/MATCH functions and it didn't make a lot of difference. These numbers are for INDEX/MATCH.

Graphing these numbers show that it follows an exponential curve pretty closely. What is interesting is that the progress indicator at the bottom of the screen finishes in a few seconds, about 5 seconds for 350 rows, and I can see the new data after those few seconds. But then it sits and appears to do nothing for the rest of the time. So, for 350 rows, it looks to be done with the calculations within 5 seconds, but then it freezes for another 2 minutes with CPU usage maxed out before I can do anything with the program. That actual calculation time seems to scale linearly with the number of rows I calculate, but the time after it finishes calculating before it finishes whatever else it's doing scales exponentially.

The spreadsheet does have a macro and a couple of other sheets and a macro that do some later analysis and I wondered if that had something to do with it. To check that, I created a new spreadsheet and set it up the same as the original one, with the data in one spreadsheet and the INDEX/MATCH formulas in the other. I copied the data over, but setup the formulas new without copying/pasting anything. It didn't make any real difference.

Excel 2007 :: Inconsistent Time Scale - X Axis

Mar 8, 2012

Basically I have some performance figures for a fund that I want to make a chart for, the problem is that the first date (the start date of the fund) is 15/09/2011 but every reporting date after that is the end of the month.

So my data looks something like this (not real figures)

15/09/11 20
30/09/11 22
31/10/11 23
30/11/11 25
31/12/11 26
31/01/12 27.5
29/02/12 29

So what I want is a graph where the x axis starts at 15/09/11 but then the next label is 30/09/11 and 31/10/11 etc, while still keeping the scale proportionate to the dates, ie the distance between 15/09/11 and 30/09/11 will be half the distance between 30/09/11 and 31/10/11.

The 2 outcomes I seem to be stuck with is either forcing the graph to start at 31/08/11 and making the y axis cross at 15/09/11, however with this the x axis goes left past the y axis cross point and it just looks dumb, although everything right of the y axis is correct.

Or secondly I get the graph to start at 15/09/11 and set it to label every 1 month and all the labels are 15/09/11, 15/10/11, 15/11/11 etc

I have access to excel 2003 or 2007.

Scale A Number Using Format Cells Custom?

Aug 6, 2009

I have a number in a cell of 1025132.36. I need to scale it down to this number with this formatting: 1,025.13 (Two decimal places with comma separaters)

Basically it is dividing it by 1000 or scaling it by 3 (move the decimal place to the left three places). I cannot use /1000 in the cell and I cannot reference it to/from another cell. I must use something under Format/Cell. I was trying to create a custom format.

I saw in another forum thread to use #”.”###. This does the scaling but then I can’t make the number viewed with only two decimal places. Also when I tried to add comma separators for thousands it put a comma right before the decimal.

Line Graph: (line Graph To Display An Amount Over Time)

I want to use a line graph to display an amount over time - that's the easy part. On the other hand, I would like to have to group the lines based on a value.

Now I'd like to have one graph (3 different graphs won't work as the rows increase -I need to select the whole column as data source):

Date on the x axis,
Oranges sold on the y axis,
and one line per store (e.g. a green one for store A, a red one for B and a blue one of C, doesn't matter).

Counting Days And Hours

May 28, 2008

I have a questions about counting days and hours.

Imagine that i have an item entering my warehouse on 22/05/2008 at 21h35 and leaving on the 25/05/2008 at 5h42.

A1= 22/05/2008 and B1= 21h35
A2= 25/05/2008 and B2= 5h42

The goal is to count the full 24 hours day and the remaining hours.

For the example given i can say that on day 22 the item only says 2 hours and 25 minutes, on day 23 it stays 24 hours and on day 24 another 24 hours, on day 25 the item leaves at 5h42, so it only stays those 5h42.

So we have 2 full 24 hour days and 2h25 plus the 5h42, the the item were stored 2 days and 8 hours and 7 minutes.

The problem is when the item arrives at (example) 22/05/2008 2h00 and leaves at 25/05/2008 23h00 on another day. Lets say that on the first day the item is 22 hours stored, plus the 2 full 24 hour day and another 23 hours.
So it is 2 days plus the 45 hours, that is 2 days plus 1 day and the remaining 21 hours.

how to add to this 2 full days the 1 day and 21 hours

Counting Dates/Days

Oct 9, 2007

a count formula.

Right, Column A on my sheet is the date that the work was completed. First thing is I need to be able to count how much work was completed per month. (I dont know why we have it all in one big sheet rather than monthly sheets but thats too logical!)

Secondly, column I is the number of days that piece of work took to complete. I need to be able to have a formula that looks at the month the work was completed, then total up the number of days that the work took.

(Example, if I have three bit of work completed in October, 1 took a total of 20 days, 1 took 15 and 1 took 10 it would = 45 days)

I know that this should be possible as I've had Excel doing more complex formulas than this.
