# Formulas For Counting Days

## Is there a formula that will return the number of "weekdays" there are in any given month if I provide the month and year? Is there a formula that will return the total number of days in February if I provide a year?

Counting The Days Worked And Days Remaining On A Schedule Automatically
I'm basically looking for a forumla that will count each employees total scheduled work days for the month inserted and then depening upon the day it is will show how many days the employee has left to work for the month.

This list goes on with every workday of the month repeat several times, with no day have any set number of entries. Also each new month is just tacked on to the previous list. All of this is in column A but there are many other columns of data with these dates. I just didn't see the need to replicate that here.

What I need is to be able to count the number of unique days per each month but I do not want to have to specify a range for the month of January, then another range for February, etc. I just want to be able to list the column A4:A1200 and have the formula select just the unique days for January. Then in another cell modify the formula for unique days in February and so on.

Counting Dates/Days
a count formula.

Right, Column A on my sheet is the date that the work was completed. First thing is I need to be able to count how much work was completed per month. (I dont know why we have it all in one big sheet rather than monthly sheets but thats too logical!)

Secondly, column I is the number of days that piece of work took to complete. I need to be able to have a formula that looks at the month the work was completed, then total up the number of days that the work took.

(Example, if I have three bit of work completed in October, 1 took a total of 20 days, 1 took 15 and 1 took 10 it would = 45 days)

I know that this should be possible as I've had Excel doing more complex formulas than this.

Counting Days Of The Week
I need to be able to count the number of each day that has passed so far this month. For example, so far this month the table would look like:

Mondays:1
Tuesdays:1
Wednesdays:1
Thursdays:1
Fridays:0
Saturdays:0
Sundays:0

I don't want the count to include the current day. My data is in a workbook called "Stock Today.xls" on a sheet called "Sales" in column S.

Counting Days And Hours
I have a questions about counting days and hours.

Imagine that i have an item entering my warehouse on 22/05/2008 at 21h35 and leaving on the 25/05/2008 at 5h42.

A1= 22/05/2008 and B1= 21h35
A2= 25/05/2008 and B2= 5h42

The goal is to count the full 24 hours day and the remaining hours.

For the example given i can say that on day 22 the item only says 2 hours and 25 minutes, on day 23 it stays 24 hours and on day 24 another 24 hours, on day 25 the item leaves at 5h42, so it only stays those 5h42.

So we have 2 full 24 hour days and 2h25 plus the 5h42, the the item were stored 2 days and 8 hours and 7 minutes.

The problem is when the item arrives at (example) 22/05/2008 2h00 and leaves at 25/05/2008 23h00 on another day. Lets say that on the first day the item is 22 hours stored, plus the 2 full 24 hour day and another 23 hours.
So it is 2 days plus the 45 hours, that is 2 days plus 1 day and the remaining 21 hours.

how to add to this 2 full days the 1 day and 21 hours

Counting Days Within Date Ranges
I run a small holiday cottage and I want to use excel to tell me which days of the year I get most enquiries for.

Every time I get an enquiry for a certain period in the cottage, I enter the dates into excel.

I have two columns - Start of holiday and End of holiday.

What I would like to do, is give each day of the year one point if someone enquires for it.

e.g. If someone asked for 3rd january to 5 january, I would give 1 point to the 3rd and 1 point to the 4th of january (but not the 5th as that is the day they would leave!)

At the moment I find it easier to count with pen and paper than use excel for this problem.

Counting Occurences Of Months And Days Etc In A List
I have been struggling for almost 2 days with this problem.

I have a list of data, one column of which is the date displayed in dd/mmm/yy format.
This date will always be entered by users and is variable.

I can't find a way of counting the number of occurences of each month and each day that the date represents.

So, I want to know how many occurences of March, June, May, Septemeber etc are on this list and Mondays, Tuesdays, etc.

I have tried several posssible routes, DCOUNT DCOUNTA COUNT COUNTIF SUM. I've also tried separating the date out into days & months using the MONTH & DAY functions but this didn't work either.

It also apepars (shock horror) that Excel has incorrect date & day values because entering todays date in one cell (11/05/2006) and then using the DAY function to find the day of the week for this date produces WED when it should be THU. (My system date is set as 1 Jan 1900).

I feel that Excel can't separate the months & days away from the date, since the date is stored as a numerical value and not as we humans use dates.
The dates will always be manually entered by users, probably as dd-mm and Excel will automatically add in the year.

How can I count the occurences of each month and days of the week?

Counting Days In Date/Time Format
I am trying to count the number of orders written per day. I used the following formula on another sheet and it worked fine, however on this one, A8 is a date only, and F2:F2000 is a date and a time.

I tried reformating the cell for date only, and it displays only the date, however, the time information is still stored, and I can't get it to do the count. Is there a way to count the date regardless of the time?

=COUNTIF('ACT Legacy'!\$F\$2:\$F\$2000,Stats!A8)

Counting Dates In A Range :: Today And 7 Days Ago
I need to do a total of the dates entered in the RAW DATA sheet that fall in between today's date and 7 days ago. I am comparing it to B3 in sheet 2. Have tried a COUNTIF but cannot get it to work.

Counting Formulas And Creating A Matrix
I have the following used formula to count how many occurances there are of a particular piece of text in a column:

=SUM(IF(range="text",1,0))

e.g. {=SUM(IF(K6:K16="H",1,0))}

I have repeated this formula for an adjacent column

e.g. {=SUM(IF(L6:L16="M",1,0))}

I need to find a way of counting number of occurances in these two columns (K and L) when text "H" and "M" are present in the same row.

To further complicate matters (well for me anyway) the text "H" and "M" care chosen from a list of options in the K and L columns.

What i ultimatly want to do is create a matrix to compare how many times all possble occurances of the various options listed in both columns are present in the same row in the spreadsheet.

Find Out How Many Ticks Were On Green Days, Amber Days And Red Days
I have a series of data that acts upon a traffic light system, i.e. Green, Amber and Red. These variables are posted along row 1 for example and there are 10 columns. Per column I have a tick and cross to answer a question. How can I find out how many ticks were on green days, amber days and red days? I have attached an example.

Rolling 7 Days, Extract The 3 Previous Days
I have a spreadsheet in 2007. Days across the top for an entire year. So 365 columns. I need a macro to extract the 3 previous days , today's column, and the 3 next days and load to a different worksheet.

HTML worksheet A:
1/1/09, 1/2/09..... 10/17/09, 10/18/09, 10/19/09, 10/20/09, 10/21/09 .... 12/31/09
10 11 ... 14 15 17 12 22 ... 28
a g ... g c d d a ... a

the macro would create a worksheet B(if run on 10/19/09):
10/17/09, 10/18/09, 10/19/09, 10/20/09, 10/21/09
14 15 17 12 22
g c d d a

Converting Days To Years,months,days
How can I convert the number of days for example 366 days to years, months, days 366=1year, 0 months, 1 day

Converting Formulas To Relative/absolute References With Formulas Referencing Other Sheets
I've found a few macros that will automate changing cell references from absolute to relative and they work great. However, when I run the macros on formulas that have references to another worksheet or workbook, the macro will not work correctly.

Formulas Won't Calculate. Just Displaying As Formulas
I have formulas in a column and they are working unless I edit them to include another function, more cells, whatever, then they display as formulas instead of the result. I've gone to Tools --> Options --> View and the Formulas box is not checked. As well automatic calculation is on not manual.

Paste Formulas As Values (strip Out Unwanted Formulas)
I have a macro running this code to strip out unwanted formulas and formatting.

Sub Quote_Wrapup()
'To stop screen flicker
Application.ScreenUpdating = False

Range("CDandC").ClearContents
Range("qdata5,qdata6").Font.ColorIndex = 2

'To delete delivery address lines if 1st line empty
If IsEmpty(Range("deliver_line1")) _
Then Sheets(1).Range("deliver_rows").EntireRow.Delete
'No End If required as only one action as a result of the If

Range("Item_Nos").SpecialCells(xlCellTypeBlanks).EntireRow.Delete
Columns("A:E") = Columns("A:E").Value .........................

A spreadsheet based on my template has been sent to me because the macro won't run properly. When I try to run the macro I get a Runtime Error '1004' Method 'Range' of object '_Global' failed on the following line. Columns("A:E") = Columns("A:E").Value.

Formula For Last 7 Days, 30 Days
I have two rows of data, Date and data.

I want to continously figure avg for last 7 days, 30 days.

Convert Formulas In Text Into Formulas
If you have a cell with the value ="2*c2+3" NB: (Notice the ""), then to make excel convert the formula in another cell to =2*c2+3 (notice the removal of ""), so that it can calculate the value of the cell instead of showing a textstring?

Using Two IF Formulas (3 Or More To Count If Other IF Formulas Are Actually Returning A Value)
I have a spreadhseet with various functions on it and what I am trying to do is this.

Cell E4 returns a >35 or <35 true or false value
Cell G4 is either blank or has "Yes" text type into it.

What I am trying to do is get cell F4 to return certain arguments.

E4 = >35 and G4 is blank I want it to state "Email Hiring Manager"
E4 = ,35 and G4 is blank I want it to state "Wait"

I have a basic IF formula that returns this
=IF(E4>35,"Email Hiring Manager","Wait")

Then if cell G4 is populated with a Yes the formula needs to overwirte the origonal if with the return arguments of
=IF(G4="Yes","Email Agency","Email Hiring Manager")

If yes then what would be Email Hiring Manager (yes will only be input if E4 is greater than 35) will be overwritten with "Email Agency"

Can this be done with two If formulas or does there need to be 3 or more to count if other IF formulas are actually returning a value?

Calcualting Days
I have a spreadsheet that keeps track of incoming and outgoing orders. I am wondering if there is a formula that I could use to calculate how many days each order is in house. Say, if it comes in on 3/10 and goes out on 3/13. It would have to disclude the weekends. So if an order came in on friday it wouldn't count saturday and sunday in its totaling. I would also like to figure the average time an order spends in house form this formula.

Time Between Days
I'm setting up a shift roster and need to determine whether a given time is
between the start time and end time of a shift where the shift runs across 2
calendar days

eg start 23:00 finish 06:00

Calculating Days ..
What I would like to do is insert a formula into column E that would calculate the number of days from when the count is at 50 to when the next count is i.e. for part 6689841 the time between when the count was 50 and when it was at 20, so the difference between 21/01/2008 and 08/08/2008 in the above example. It does not matter what the count number is (it could be any number except 50), I'm only concerned with every time the count is at 50 how long it is until the next count and to show the result in days.

Looks Up By SS#and A Date That Is Within Two Days Of Each Other
I am trying to find a formula that looks up by SS#and a date that is within two days of each other. Example file is attached but I have put the two table below just in case. The file explains it better.

Table A

DAYS 360
the spreadsheet i've set up have two days in it, and i need to work out the number of days between the dates.

(Column H)
Date Work was requested
(Column S)
Date Work was completed

Now i thought i could use

=DAYS360(H13,S13,TRUE)
This does return the number of days between the dates, but if theres no completed date yet (alot of jobs take weeks somethings months to complete) it returns a value of -38541 for example.

Birthday Is X Days Away?
I have a column with people(A) and their date of birth(C). I'm looking to find out the number of days when their next birthday is. I searched through here and couldn't find anything. Is there a formula I can use that would calculate this, year after year after year??

Count Last 10 Days
I have a spreadsheet with a list in column A, and starting from column D in row 1 are daily dates e.g. 01/10/06, 02/10/06, 03/10/06. On a daily basis an x is added manually to the spreadsheet where the list criteria matches the specific date e.g

A B C D E F
1 01/10/06 02/10/06 03/10/06
2 M123 x x
3 M456 x x
4 M789 x x

What i would like to do in column C is to measure how many x's are in the last 10 days for each row. I have used formulas in the past to do something similar but I can't find them. Sorry I can't upload a sample but firewall won't allow.

Days Between Two Dates
I have been using: =DATEDIF(A1,B1,"md") & " days" to calculate the difference, in days, between two dates in a speadsheet, however, the number of formulae in the spreadsheet now is cumbersome so I'm trying to put it together in VB.

No Of Days In Month Query
I need to calculate the number of days chargeable in a given month for a tenancy as follows:

eg Current Month 30 Sep 2008

Begin End No of Days in Month
Tenancy 1 01 Jul 2008 31 Jul 08
Tenancy 2 01 Jul 2008 24 Sep 08
Tenancy 1 01 Jul 2008 31 Oct 08
Tenancy 1 01 Sep 2008 30 Sep 08
Tenancy 1 01 Sep 2008 31 Oct 08
Tenancy 1 01 Oct 2008 31 Dec 08

Weeknum Says There Only 2 Days In Week
Why does Weeknum say there are ONLY 2 days in the first week of 2011? Aren't there 7 days in a week?

=Weeknum("1-1-2011",2) = Week 1
=Weeknum("1-2-2011",2) = Week 1
=Weeknum("1-3-2011",2) = Week 2

(I'm assuming the first day of the week is a Monday, but I still get wacky results if I start the weeks on a Sunday.)

Name All Days Between Two Date Values
I am creating a spreadsheet to monitor employees sickness habits, including their patterns of sickness, i.de do they often take Fridays and Mondays off?

In my spreadsheet I have two columns, one with the first date of absence, and another with the last date of absence.

Does anyone know of a formula that will list all the days of the week as text that that person would have been absent for?

Number Of Days Between 2 Dates
I am trying to set up a function to derive a number of days between 2 dates.

Within the table I have an on hire date, and off hire date, and an optional suspend hire date range in 2 other columns - ie. there are 4 columns with dates in.

On hire is in column B; offhire in C; suspend hire in G and recommence hire in H. The optional suspend hire date range will always fall within the main hire date range.

Column I calculates the number of days for the suspend hire period.

My key cut off date is in cell C4.

There are 3 different scenarios I need the function to cover.

1 - if the cut-off date (in C4) is later than recommence hire, calculate the number of days from hire start to cut-off date, less suspend hire period days.

2 - if the cut-off date (in C4) falls within the suspend hire period, calculate the number of days from the hire start to the begining of the suspend hire period.

3 - if the cut-off date (in C4) falls before the suspend hire period, calculate the number of days from the hire start to the cut-off date.

This is the fuction I have written:-

=IF(\$C\$4>H10*(\$C\$4-B10-I10),
IF(AND(\$C\$4>G10,\$C\$4

Count Days Between Two Dates
vba excel?

I wish to calculate the days between the starting date (column A) and ending date (column B). For the first 7 days are excluding all the holiday and weekend and the rest of it until the ending date are counted.

How Do You Add Days To A Date

If Not Intersect(Target, Range("C6") + 4) Is Nothing Then

Formula To Get No. Of Days In Month
Is there any simple formula to get no. of days in a month?

Days On Hand Calculation
I'm looking to create an inventory days on hand calculation (DOH), but I'm not quite
sure what formula will do the trick. Here is an example:

DOH......FG Inv......1/29/2009......1/30/2009......2/2/2009......2/3/2009......2/4/2009
X..........80.............20................20.................20..............20..............20

I'm trying to solve for 'X'. My finished good inventory (FG Inv) is 80pcs.
That will cover customer demand out to 2/3/2009. Therefore, I have 4 DOH
of inventory.

I'm looking for a formula to determine the 'DOH'.

How Can I Count Workable Days
when I try to calculate the worked days between two dates using the formula "Networkdays" in excel, the result just count the days from Monday to Friday.

Example:

If I want to calculate the workable days from 12/1/08 (Start_date in cell A1) to 1/14/09 (End_date in cell A2) by using the formula: =NETWORKDAYS(A1,A2)

the result will be 33 days, but due to fact that I also need to count Saturdays, the result that I need must be 39 days.

Count How Many In A Month Days
I need to count how many in a month per day X number is =. I originally used Countif -

=COUNTIF(B3,">25252525=36")+COUNTIF(V3,">=36")+COUNTIF(X3,">=36")+COUNTIF(Z3,">=36")

The formula above works, but i end up with several long strings of Countif. I'd like to know if there is a way wherein i can use a shorter formula.

Calculating Inventory Days
I am trying to calculate the number of days that items are were held in inventory as of a given date. See below for some sample data.

'As Of' - the date in question
# Holdings - Using sumproduct to find items bought on or after the date AND sold after the date
Held Days - ? Total number of days that the six items were sitting in inventory as of the date.

As Of #ItemsHeld Days

Month Following 90 Days From Date
I have 5 columns: Employee Name, Start Date, Probation Time, Probation Ends, Benefits Start.

I want the Benefits Start column to populate the name of the month that follows the Probation Ends date.

For example Employee A starts on March 16. Probation time is 90 days. Probation Ends is 6/14/09. The Benefits start date is 7/1/09, however I want this column to just say July.

Production Days In A Week
I have a production schedule with start and finish dates for each project. To the right of this I have a matrix with "week starting" dates. What I am looking for is a formula that will indicate how many days in each week the project will take. Below are the cells filled in correctly. However, I did this manually. Any idea of a formula? I'm pretty new to this.

WEEK STARTINGSTARTFINISHUNITS PER DAY9/1/089/8/089/15/089/22/089/29/089/10/089/24/0813.4503530

Number Of Days Per Year
If I have a year in a cell, say 2006, and in another cell I need a formula to tell me how many days are in that year. Just to try and calculate deliveries of things far into the future, so need to account for leap years.

Delete Range Every X Days
Find any code that deletes cell values in a range every 7 days.

cells.range("range").delete.currentdate + 7

every 7 days the cells in the range "range" get deleted etc

Calculate Sick Days
I’ve tried formulas for this but nothing is working, and was wondering if there was some vba that would do the job

Please find attached a sample sheet of where I’m up to.

I’m trying to calculate when someone goes sick to see whether they are entitled to company sick pay (CSP) Statutory sick pay (SSP) and most people will have waiting days (W D) before qualifying for CSP.

A6:A735 have set dates for two years
D6:D735 have the sick days an employee has taken
B6:B735 Matches the sick date to the date in column A

G2 has how many days entitlement for CSP
H2 has how many waiting days (W D) before CSP can start

In Column C i need CSP, SSP, or W D next to the number 1

And if someone only has 1 day sick they would not qualify for any of the above and I just need “S” in column C.

Comparing Days In VBA
Using VBA, I would like to compare the date found in Cell(datRow, colIndex) of the Recap workBOOK to the date found in Cell(varRow, 3) of the Deduction workBOOK.

I loop through several Recap workbooks, one for each month. The problem I am encountering is this: If the date(s) found in the Recap workbook are before the date(one date) found in the Deduction workbook, the procedure will add the value of data below it to a running variable total.

However, what I am Needing, is for the value only to be added to the total IF the DAY of the date found in the Recap workbook (not the entire date) falls before the DAY of the date found in the Deduction workbook.

I know this is lengthy, but I have researched this for hours and am finding little to help me. Is there a function used in VBA to compare only the day of a date? And can I use a conditional IF statement such that execution happens when Cells(varRow, 3).Value > Cells(datRow, colIndex).Value even though the cells reside in different workbooks (both are open during processing)?

Find The Number Of Days
If I was to say have a date in cell A1, is there a formula which would tell me how many days from that date left in the financial year?

I was thinking an IF statement, but I know thats way off course! And it could get quite messy.

This is what I would like it to do:

Cell A1 - 30/10/2007

Formula - Finds the number of days between 30/10/2007 and the remainder of the financial year, which for me ends on 30/06/2007

Should give me the answer of "x" amount of days.

Past Days Calculation
I would like to calculate how many days past since the special Cell have been filled with data.

For exampl:

If Cell A1 filled with the data in Cell B1 I need to show the day number, if I close the file and open it next day it will show number 1 as a one day past.

Delete Entries Which Are Less Than 5 Days Old
i am simply asking the macro to delete entries which are less than 5 days old, but it doesnt do it, i dont get any errors either

With Range("A1:J1")
.AutoFilter Field:=6, Criteria1:="

Calculating The Number Of Days
If I had two dates in two separate cells , so E2 is the 01/10/08 and F2 is 06/10/08 and I want to work out that their is a difference of five days what would the sum be? Also is there anyway I could factor into that sum what is pure working days as opposed to weekends?

Calculating Hours Across Days
I have a spreadsheet where I record individual staff start time, end times and the length of their break. From this I caculate the hours they worked for the day.

E holds Start, F holds End and G holds Break length. Thus using the following forumula gives me the number of hours and minutes:

Average A Range IF Within 30 Days
I have a spreadsheet with dates running down column J, and a number running down column K. I want to average the numbers in column K for all the rows that are less than 30 days old.

I have a formula for determining if a date is less than a month old:
=IF(DATEDIF(J2,TODAY(),"d")<31,TRUE,FALSE)

How can I translate that into averaging a range?

I'm using Excel 2003
