I want a formula that will count the cells that have dates between 1st April 2010 to 30th June 2010 in cells B2:B100
Also, I would like a formula that counts weekend dates between 1st April 2010 to 30th June 2010?

Right, Column A on my sheet is the date that the work was completed. First thing is I need to be able to count how much work was completed per month. (I dont know why we have it all in one big sheet rather than monthly sheets but thats too logical!)
Secondly, column I is the number of days that piece of work took to complete. I need to be able to have a formula that looks at the month the work was completed, then total up the number of days that the work took.
(Example, if I have three bit of work completed in October, 1 took a total of 20 days, 1 took 15 and 1 took 10 it would = 45 days)
I know that this should be possible as I've had Excel doing more complex formulas than this.

Nov 28, 2009I'm new to the forums, though I've solved a couple of my problems by lurking here.
I'm currently having a problem with a worksheet I've been working on at work. I'm not very experienced in Exel and have inherited a worksheet that keeps track of the machines we do maintenance on during the year. What I have now is a spreadsheet with columns alternating between initials and date, and rows with the machine names all the way down. It looks similar to this :
Name of machine Initials date initials date initials date initials date etc.
machine 1
machine 2
machine 3
machine 4
...
machine 121
I'd like to keep this format, but we need to keep track of who does what within a certain week, which means I need to count the number of instances of an initial, then compare it with the date in the column next to it, which I don't think would be a problem with just two columns, but I'm having problems wrapping my brain around how to do so with 20-30 columns.
I'm using date ranges in some of my calculation formulas, which I think necessitates the date being in a separate column than the text.

Counting Number Of Dates In Sequence

When the date sequence breaks a new count should be done at the end of the next sequence. The formula should be 1 I can put in cell B1 and copy down so that there are blanks & a count is only done at the end of the date sequence like in cell B4 or B7 below.

Counting Weeks INVOLVED Between 2 Dates
Nov 3, 2008I've been having problems coming up with a formula that will take a start date and an end date and come up with the number of weeks INVOLVED within this date range (each week being a Sunday through Saturday).
My problems is that the start and end dates could be any day of the week and not necessarily the same day (meaning divisible by 7 doesn't always work). I tried using ROUND((A2-A1)/7,0)+1 where A1 was the start date...and A2 was the end date.
The problem I had was if I picked a Monday as the start date, and went 12 days out (The saturday of week2)...it came up stating 3 weeks were involved - AND if I selected a Friday start date and picked the following monday in week 2 - the result was 1 week involved when 2 different weeks were involved.

In the cell to the right of each month, I want to have a formula that will count the dated cells in column N that fall under each month.
i.e. In cell B5, next to January, I want to display the total number of cells that contain a date in January (ultimately giving me the number of items that arrive in January) the number would read '5' because there are 5 dates in January that are in the list.

Nov 19, 2008I have a list of people with birthdays that needs to be checked against TODAY to determine how old people are. If I subtract the two fields from one another, I get number of days. But is there a way to convert into years? In my attached example, I'd like column C to display 3 (age for person).

I've attached an example with each different occasion colour coded. In the example there a five occasions. Thus the Bradford Factor would be 187.5 (5*5*7.5).

May 28, 2014I am using Excel 2010, and trying to count the number of times a certain name occurs within a specified date period. The date range start date is manually entered in F7, and the date range end date is manually entered in F8. I need to be able to choose different reporting periods. The answer to this question goes into F3.
I also want to know how many working days (Column D) it takes per name. A working day is Monday-Friday, less public holidays. In this period there have been public holidays from 24 December until 2 January (inclusive), 20 January, 6 February, 18 April, 21 April, and 25 April. I put these dates manually into the worksheet "Holidays".
For the number of times a certain name occurs I tried the COUNTIFS function but keep getting a "zero" value. I used the NETWORKINGDAYS function for the working days and have incorporated the holiday periods. That seems to work OK and I can live with the negative date values showing here.
The really tricky part for me - can I combine the COUNTIFS (assuming it works) and NETWORKINGDAYS functions into a single function to only count the working days of a specific name. As some names have yet to be completed (i.e. there is no data in Column C) how do I not count those? The answer to this question goes into F4.
There will be about 6 of these spreadsheets, and I intend to link all worksheet data into a "master" spreadsheet which automatically updates whenever it is opened. The separate spreadsheets are stored in a document management system rather than a network drive so I can't state a filepath.

I have shipments that are going to different destinations (rotterdam, austria, london, etc.)
I would like to count the arrival dates in column H that fall under each week's span, but ONLY IF its corresponding value in column F is 'rotterdam'.
Column C contains the ideal numbers that I would like column B's formula to return. I plan on doing this for the entire year, but if someone can some up with a formula, I might be able to modify it for the rest.
Note: This is only an example spreadsheet, I am going to be referencing an external file with much more information on it.

I have cells ( F8:F108) where I have been manually entering an asterik (*) for those jobs equal to or greater than five days old in cell (A2). Is there a formula that can do the math for me? I've tried Excel help but to no avail.

What I am trying to do now, is create a column that will take the information from O and do a sort of COUNTIF function that will count how many items of data were entered on a certain date by the day. For a clearer example, I want it to tell me how many items were entered/altered on 7/23. But I also want it to continuously calculate it for each date after that. Preferably automatically, but if a macro is needed I can create an update button.
Once it can achieve that I would like to create a dynamic graph that will automatically (or via macro button) update to show the last 5 days. It should display the date and how many items were entered that day.
I am using Office 2007.
How To Ignore Blank Cells In Formula Counting Days Between Two Dates
Jul 22, 2014I have the following formula which counts number of days between dates in two adjacent cells excluding holidays
=NETWORKDAYS(U311,V311,$AA$4:$AA$14)-1
The $AA$4:$AA$14 refers tote range where the excluded holiday dates are stored.
I have included the -1 at the end as it over counts by one day every time. i.e. if the same date is in both cells it counts 1
However if no date is in both fields it count -1 (minus one)
If a date is just in one field it counts a very high number, example below.
