I am having two problems ....
1) I have a field for which the user MUST enter text information. It can't be left empty. I set validation on the cell ... Text Length must be greater than 0. It still allows the user to hit enter without entering information without an error message and a retry.
2) In another field, the user has the option to enter (text) info or not. It can be left blank. The value in this cell, empty or other, is copied to another cell in another worksheet. The problem is ... the destination cell gets a value of 0 when the user field is left blank. The value of 0 in the destination cell can't be there ... I need that cell empty.

I'm looking for a formula which will enable typing (in cell A1) positive numbers between 0-1000000 but will prevent the user from leaving that cell in an empty state. Empty cell means: cell with space(s) or deleting the legitimate value that is, already, in it).
I must emphasize that I know how to handle this by VBA code and/or by using a "named" pre-defined list of values + un-checking the "ignore empty cell" option - but I would like to know, once and for all, the solution WITHOUT using Macro and/or 'List' (if any..)
I tried that, without success:
=AND(A1>=0,A1<=100000,NOT(ISBLANK(A1))

I am caught in an areas where I have learned how to find the next available empty row by going far down my worksheet, counting up until I reach a filled row and then offsetting that value by 1 as seen here below:
NextRow = Sheet1.Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Offset(1, 0).Row
My difficulty lies in assigning the cells in this empty row the data a user can input in my text boxes; let's say there are 4 text boxes which need to be put into the following cells:
Text box 1 (Text value) needs to be assigned next empy cell in column: AText box 2 (Text value) needs to be assigned next empy cell in column: B (1 offset away from A)Text box 3 (Numeric value) needs to be assigned next empy cell in column: F (5 offsets away from A)Text box 4 (Numeric value) needs to be assigned next empy cell in column: H (7 offsets away from A).
How would I go about using my identified "NextRow" and then plug in these text box values into their appropriate cells down that row?

I am importing a 20 character text string (from a barcode scanner) to H2. I need to send that data to the next unused row in Column A (after insuring that no matching text currently exists in Column A-no action taken if matching data is found). I can provide a copy of the sheet, along with a description of the project.

Is it possible to force a cell entry (using Data Validation) to either a whole number or a value? In other words, I would like the data in a cell to be either a whole number between 10,000 and 20,000 or "N/A". I can do it with VBA, but Data Validation (if it's possible) would be better.

Is it possible to make a cell "really" blank/empty based on an If statement? For instance:
=if(a1>10,a1,"")
Has a value_if_false of "". But Excel interprets this a bit differently than a cell that never had anything typed into it.
So if you have a column full of this formula copied down, and hit <control+down arrow>, you will go straight to the bottom and skip over all rows. Whereas if you have a column with values and empty cells alternating and hit <control+down arrow>, you will only skip the empty cells and go to the next value. Excel treats the conditionally empty cells as if they have a value, when it comes to this type of navigation. This holds even if you copy and paste "Values" for the cells over the formulas.
Is there any way to tell Excel to make the cells truly empty?

I am developing a spreadsheet that, once all the code is run has numerous sheets added. On these sheets I have a significant number of rows that contain no data and could be hidden (I dont want to remove them, because later I need to re- import all these rows back to my master sheet). I tried code I found in the forum to hide a row if it is empty but this doesnt work as some of the cells contain formulaes referencing back to another sheet that is hidden.
I am trying, and failing, to write code to hide a row that contains no actual data, but still has formulas in some of the cells.

Where XX is any combination of letters (upper or lowercase) and
00000 is a combination of any 5 numbers.
It must always be in this format, with this number of digits in total (2 letters followed by 5 numbers)

I'm using Data Validation for various fields in a form and I'm trying to make it user friendly by adding Error Alert conditions and text explaining why the error has occurred. I also want the form to be translatable into other languages.
For some VBA message boxes that get displayed I can put the English text in some hidden cells and that can be translated easily by someone without access to the code. But I cannot figure out how to make the Data Validation Error Alert messages point to a cell so that they are also translatable without forcing the translator to open each Data Validation dialog.

Can anyone provide a formula to be used in data validation that will control text length (6 digits) and restrict duplicate entries. The best formula will prevent anything other that 6 digits, but question the user regarding a duplicate entry.
For example: if the user enters 123456 no problem, but if 12345 is entered, Excel validation would not allow. If the user enters 123456 again, Excel's validation window would allow but the window will pop-up and ask to confirm.

Can I limit the text length in a cell that contains a formula? You may say "Limit the text length in the input cell". That can't be done because the formula in the resultant cell takes text from two other cells in addition to the input cell. I need to limit the overall text length to, let say, 50 characters.

I am quite inexperienced with Excel and I am struggling to understand how should I set up a formula, within the data validation function to achieve the following:
I need to restrict a certain set of cells, for people to be able to input only the following values: "1", "0.5", "A", "H", "0.5A" (or 0.5a), "0.5H" (or 0.5h)
And I would need the data validation tool not to include blank cells.

I'm trying to figure a to enforce dual data validation on a single cell. That is, I need to restrict the user to entering only a decimal value, only if a particular other cell (say A2) is blank. To put it another way, if A2 is blank, the user can enter a decimal value, but if A2 is not blank, the user cannot enter anything. I can use Data Validation to enforce either the decimal restriction or the ISBLANK, but I'm not sure how to make them work together.

VBA code which can distinguish whether a cell has been edited by:
selecting an option from a data validation list (DVL)
or
manually editing the text in a cell?
The ""Show error alert after invalid data is entered"" option is unticked to allow both selection from the DVL as well as free format text entries.
The problem arises when using the code below which makes an edited cell within a range display the new value as well as the prior value(s). This works well when using the DVL but not when editing the cell.
Is there any code which can distinguish between the 2?

I have 2 columns First Name & Surname. What I want to do is create a data validation list on the surname which results in the 2nd data validation list only showing the first names which link to one of the surnames.
i.e. If I selected Smith in the 1st validation list then I would only like to see 'Paul' as an option in the 2nd list

I have attached a sheet that I am working on. I want cell G1 to be less than or equal to 165. That cell contains a formula. If the formula takes the number to over 165 the validation is allowing it.

I would like to know if it's possible to populate a data validation list based on what is selected from 4 validation lists?
for example:
On sheet1:
If 'Group1' is selected from data validation list1 then data validation list5 will show a list of all items from Group1. If 'Group2' is selected from data validation list2, then data validation list5 will display all the items in 'Group2'...
(I do not want to use a combo box for this)

and I need to compare this cells A1:E1 and if text in not empty cells is the same then write TRUE to F1 and if not write FALSE.

I currently have created a form for the user to fill in details on my sheet. My idea is that when the user clicks a button, the macro will take that piece of text and populate my other sheet into the correct column. Therefore the task I am trying to resolve is copy the text into a field and then if the user clicks copy again, the text will fill into the field below as it is empty and so forth until the user has finished entering values. I have the following setps in pseudocode below but having trouble converting it to a macro!

I'm having this problem whereby a few cells in my work contain empty texts. An empty text is represented textually in VBA with a pair of double quotation marks with nothing inside (I think).
This means that the cells don't display anything visible, but are not blank/empty.
So what happens is that formulas such as ISBLANK(), COUNTA(), etc. are returning unexpected results.

B15 has a formula which checks if one date is greater than another on the sheet. If that is true it displays a date, otherwise it displays empty text. A macro copies/pastes the date, if there is no date it copies/pastes the date in B14. This is what I have at present but of course it always sees B15 as NOT empty...
