I am not sure how to go about creating a spreadsheet that does this:

I have a number much like a stock market index which is in cell A1 for instance, and this data changes every second,

And I wish to create my spreadsheet to automatically make a record of this change value and populate it at the last available blank row, so ultimately, I have a full history of how this number changes during the course of time.

5450 in cell A1
a second later, it changes to 5430
and so I want to populate 5430 to A2

and then another second, it changes from 5430 to 5470 and so i want to populate 5470 to A3 and so forth....

does anyone know how to do it?

Change Color Of Cell Range When Last Cell Receives Data

I need my worksheet to automatically fill in a range of cells (from Range B*:G*) with my yellow color once the last cell in the range (G*) receives data, and automatically switch back to no color if the data in Cell G* is erased. However, if somebody merges a range, it should appear as it would by default - as if no macro exists, if that makes sense. I've attached a sample worksheet.

I am looking for a way to use VBA code to allow a combo box (form control) to change the data in a cell. For example: The combo box could contain Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. If the user selects Monday in the combo box, than cell A1 will populate the word Monday. In the particular situation that I using this for, an if statement will not work since there are 82 values (options) in the combo box.

Copying Data To Cell With CF / Rules Will Change On Its Own

I had previously posted a query on deconstructing 2 set of tables (with similar heading)(in sheet 1 & 2) & combine them side by side with similar heading (in sheet3) so as to use condition formatting to highlight the differences & visually i can compare them easily.

1 group is 2 tables to compare. I have about 30 groups. So after creating the 1st group, i intended to use it as a template, without having to create the conditional formatting again & again. But after copying, the conditional formatting rules change. I am not sure why.

I attached a sample of my template for reference.

Sheet 1 - Table 1
Sheet 2 - Table 2 & part of Table 1
Sheet 3 - combine both Tables with similar column header side by side

in Table 3, cell B3 rules are "=C5<>B5"

SO the problem is when i copy data from Sheet 2, Table 2's Column Header B (cell f9 to f421) to Sheet 3, Column Header B2 (cell c5 onwards) the rules change to "=C5<>XFC5"

Trigger Macro Once On Data Change In Cell

I have an application that updates the text string in A1 every x minutes (time may vary). I'm trying to develop a toutine that will trigger a Macro/call a function/subroutine once only on each change of data (and then not trigger again until the next change...and must only trigger on change of data in this specific cell). So the timeline looks like this

start A1 = "Apples", Fire macro once

start + 10mins A1 = "Oranges", Fire Macro Once again

start + 25mins A1 = "Pears", Fire Macro Once again

etc.

Triggering the macro is no problem but constraining to one triggering is proving a problem (for me anyway) and is really holding up my application progress.

Not sure if this is possible or if I would need to run a VB macro. image multiple columns with text headers.

'A'=Project Number 'B'= Date 'C'=Description etc etc etc 'S'=Cancelled (i actually use up to 'Z' on the columns for various other data)

I have added a Conditional Format on the cells in column 'S' that if the cell data = Y then colour the cell RED. This at first glance will show that the project has been cancelled. What I would like it to do is to colour the complete row (shaded grey for example) this would then show up more easily with the amount of data that is on my sheet.

Wrong Entry Into Data Validated Cell Triggers Debug On Change Event

I have a Change Event macro that works properly. I also have several cells that contain a drop down list. If a user tries to enter an incorrect entry...the debug is triggered on my even change macro.

Here's the piece of the Change macro that has issues. Specifically, the .undo line highlights.

Does Cell Updated By Market Data Feed Mechanism Qualify For Change Event

It is my general understanding that the change event system within Excel vba is fairly particular as to what will fit the mold of a qualifying change event.

For example, changes that the user imparts to the worksheet and other written code are legitament candidates for change events. However copying down data and cells changing their values indirectly rather than directly may not be considered in the Microsoft change event design.

I would like to know 2 things:

1) Does a cell updated by a market data feed mechanism qualify for a change event?

2) Any list of qualifying change event types. It seems that Microsoft does not have this information.

Linking Partial Data From One Cell If Data In Another Cell Meets Requirements

The merged Cell B6:G6 will receive a ten-digit number followed by a dash and then one or more numbers. (For example: 1234567890-123)

Cell B15 will then receive data shortly afterwards. I already have a validation macro for this cell which allows either 'I' or 'I I I'.

Upon exiting Cell B15, merged Cell B16:H16 needs a macro which will check Cell B15 and if it contains 'I', Cell B16:H16 will display the data from the ten-digit number entered in Cell B6:G6 minus the first five digits. (For example: 67890-123)

Now the data in Cell B16:H16 can only be somewhat editable hereafter. It can be erased or replaced with numbers in smaller or greater digit combinations than five before the dash (i.e. 67890-123 can be replaced with 123456-7), and digits can be added after the whole group (i.e. 67890-123 & SEE DWG) without any error messages. But if any five-digit number with a dash and some numbers exist in Cell B16:H16, they must correspond with the number in Cell B6:G6 minus the first five digits.

However, if Cell B15 ever receives a 'I I I' afterwards, all data in Cell B16:H16 must be erased. Cell B16:H16 can never contain data if Cell B15 contains 'I I I'.

Also, if the data in Cell B6:G6 changes later on, the corresponding digits in Cell B16:H16 must change as well, even if there are digits after the whole group.

How To Validate If Data In A Cell Conforms To Data Validation Rules In The Cell

I have an Excel workbook which contains data entry fields, which have different types of data validation rules - like Lists, Date, Whole Number.

I do not want end users to remove these data validations as well as the formatting of these cells by doing copy/paste. So, I have implemented techniques mentioned in the following post, and elsewhere - to override the paste functionality and implement PasteSpecial values automatically.

To keep it simple, I'm only supporting pasting a single cell at a time.

Now my problem is this:
Doing the PasteSpecial values programmatically doesn't prevent the user from pasting values in the cell that violate the data validation rules. So, I can paste a string into a cell having data validation as Whole Number, or a invalid string into a cell having data validation as List.

The following post just suggests disabling paste whenever data validation is present:

But I would like to allow the paste operation if the value being pasted is a valid value for the cell's data validation.

Getting Cell Data From Another Sheet Based On Current Cell Data?

I want to do (seemingly easy task) of getting a price from a code, from a code sheet.

EXAMPLE:
Sheet1 (Log sheet)
A1 = "Code456"
A2 = $? <- This needs to be found.

Sheet2 (Price Sheet)
A1=Code123 B1=$1
A2=Code456 B1=$2
A3=Code789 B1=$0.50
Etc, and so on...

What I want to do is basically (without using macros):
"If A1 = sheet2:A1, then
A2 = sheet2:B1, halt. , ELSE,
If A1 = sheet2:A2, then
A2 = sheet2:B2, halt. ELSE,
So on and so forth..."

I thought there might be an easy way to do it with some sort of 'double sided' data validation drop downs or OFFSET function but I cant figure it out.

I am looking for a way to do what i would call a dual vlookup.

i have some data in a number of sheets and need to do some consolidation into a summary sheet. problem is, not all the sheets have data in the same columns and rows but all the data is the same.

what i am trying to do is something like

vlookup("a",sheet2!A:M,***need to put the column of the data here***,0)

i cant just put in the column number because it changes on each sheet, need some way to do another lookup there, like an hlookup or something, so that i could lookup which column contained 'sales' and return that number so it can be put into the vlookup.
