View 4 RepliesI have a data set which has 6 columns (and lots of rows). Every row is different but I want to aggregate them based on 4 fields and then find the average of the numerical column for the results. I basically want to Group based on 4 fields and find the average of the 5th field.
My initial approach was to introduce a column which is a combination of the 4 fields I want to group by, simply in the Excel file (=A2&B2&C2&D2) and then find duplicates of that. I have a solution for this in VBA but when importing new data sets in this method is very slow, so I want to be able to do the whole thing in VBA.
I have 4 columns in my spreadsheet. I am trying to find any duplicates that may exist in Col A, sum values in Col D, then delete the entire row. So far my sheet before I run my vba code is this.
Col A

I have some code but I still need to do a considerable amount of tweaking to it. Currently my code is only deleting the duplicate values in Col A. I am having difficulty summing the values in Col D as well as deleting the entire row.
Here is my code thus far....
-------
Public Sub FindDuplicates()
For RwCnt = 1 To (Worksheets(1).Cells(65536, 1).End(xlUp).Row)
SrchValue = Worksheets(1).Cells(RwCnt, 1).Value
If Len(Trim(SrchValue)) > 0 Then
With Worksheets(1).Range("a1:a" & Cells(65536, 1).End(xlUp).Row)

So I am trying to mark certain rows as duplicates if their values in Columns J, AD and ABS(BD) match. J and AD contain Number letter Identification combinations and BD contains a value. I currently have a formula as shows that will mark all of these values:
[Formula]
=IF(AND(COUNTIFS(J:J,J15,BD:BD,ABS(BD15),AD:AD,AD15)>1, (SUMIFS(BD:BD,J:J,J15,AD:AD,AD15,BD:BD,ABS(BD15)))<>ABS(BD15)),"Duplicate","")
[Formula]
The issue with this formula is that I do not want it to mark rows that look like this:
J - AD - BD
AA1 BB2 20
AA1 BB2 -20
AA1 BB2 20
I have a lot of rows that will appear like this. Their sum in BD equals the absolute value of the value in BD. I thought this would get picked up using the SUMIFS portion of my formula but it is not. I cannot find the problem.
I have a spreadsheet with three colums of data. The first column contains
records which have occasional phone number duplication- see blelow:
(555) 000-0000DataA1ValueA1
(555) 000-0000DataA2ValueA2
(555) 555-9770DataA3ValueA3
(555) 555-4464DataA4ValueA4
(555) 555-4464DataA5ValueA5
(555) 555-4720DataA6ValueA6
(555) 555-8823DataA7ValueA7
(555) 555-3834DataA8ValueA8
(555) 555-4125DataA9ValueA9
What I need to do is (somehwhat) automate the process of filtering or
deleting out all rows which have duplicate data in the first column, but not
second or third columns. I'm sure it's been done...I tried the Excel
out-of-the-box.
copying all Rows(including blanks) between 2 identical rows
for example
ID
Notes
4554
asdf
--
asf
[code]....
Copy from 2nd row to 7th row (I.E 4554 - 4554) 4554 is on sheet 2 with other rep ID's - Loop with other ID's would be great
I have a sheet whereby in column A i have company names and column B how much is invested in this company so:
A B
AAPL 10
GOOG 5
MSFT 15
APPL 5
IBM 20
GOOG 10
What i would like to do via macro is take all the duplicates sum them so that i see AAPL as 15 but only be left with one row. So we would be left with only 4 rows each with their summed weight.
In Column "C" there is a list of numbers ( these number realte to incidentsm and are called incident IDs) and I want to delete the rows that have duplicate incident IDs.
the row of numbers looks like this ....
I have a number of rows that I want to have duplicated X number of times (and altered) where X is found by looking at certain cells within each row.
There are four numbers in each row, and I want to split them up into multiple rows each with three zeros and one one.
I would like to convert data from this:
Name W X Y Z
John 1 0 0 0
Doug 0 0 1 0
Karl 3 0 1 0
Mike 0 1 1 2
etc.
...to this:
Name W X Y Z
John 1 0 0 0
Doug 0 0 1 0
Karl 1 0 0 0
Karl 1 0 0 0
Karl 1 0 0 0
Karl 0 0 1 0
Mike 0 1 0 0
Mike 0 0 1 0
Mike 0 0 0 1
Mike 0 0 0 1
etc.
You can see that the W, X, Y, and Z columns from the four new Mike rows sum to equal the values in the original Mike row (0, 1, 1, 2), but everything has been split so that each row just has a single one in it and three zeros.
Does anyone have an idea of how to do this? Thanks Auto Merged Post Until 24 Hrs Passes;I thought of another way of putting it that may be easier to understand.
Given an input row of "George, 4, 7, 3, 2", I would like the output to contain 4 rows of "George, 1, 0, 0, 0", 7 rows of "George, 0, 1, 0, 0", 3 rows of "George, 0, 0, 1, 0", and 2 rows of "George, 0, 0, 0, 1".
I have a sheet with 45,000 rows. Let's say each row has 4 columns: Create_timestamp, Update_timestamp, email_address, and o_flag
Many rows have duplicate email addresses. I would like to remove all the duplicate rows, EXCEPT for the row with the most recent Update_timestamp.
And actually, if I could just "hide" all those rows, that would be even better, but I'd be happy just figuring out how to delete all the "old" rows, so I just have a list of unique email addresses, with their create/update timestamps and o_flag column. Seems like this is such a basic use case for "Remove Duplicates,",.
I am trying to determine if the value in cell Y2 also exists anywhere in cells AE2:QE2.
My initial stab at it is
[Code] .....
This results in a #VALUE! error (I am pretty sure that's because excel doesn't like the AE2:QE2 part).
I would do a formula-driven conditional format for this, but I have 2000+ rows that need to be acted on, so that's not feasible.
Is there any way to have excel check if the Y2 value exists in AE2...QE2, cell by cell?
I am trying to do a SUMIFS from a chart with duplicate values in rows and columns.
Data looks like this:
So this is basically sales of different products (columns) on different routes (Rows).
I want to add up a total for all the same kind of products eg. Magnum for each route eg. Local Top End.
I have a sheet with over 1000 rows showing me every employee's benefit choices. It has multiple rows for each employee - one that indicates their health option, one that indicates their dental option and so on.
I'd like to combine them so I have one row that has columns for health, dental, etc...and then their options would be listed all in the same row. I've attached the original with the solution I'd like pasted below. I'm sure this isn't difficult but I'm having trouble figuring it out.
Here is the problem: i have two conditions to satisfy first is data from column A and second is data from column C, what i wanted to do is if both data from column A and B has the same other data in column A and C then sum the total in column D, F, I retain data for column B, E, G and H. Then delete the duplicate rows. By the way we also need to replace the remove the text (W1,W2,W3,W4 and W5) in column C.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 2 sheets that i need to find what the same valued cells are.
1 sheet has names and i need to find the rows where those same names are on the 2nd sheet.
The formats are different (upper-lower case) and there is additional text as part of the cells in the 2nd sheet. (i.e prod123.web.corp.com) and i just need to find the prod123 parts.
I have an excel worksheet which is having duplicate values in multiple columns, i want to remove those duplicates and should return unique values... how can i do that... My Excel Sheet looks below....
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am not sure if Excel is able to do this but basically I am looking to find out which rows have some duplicate values. I have just read this back and it doesn't make a great deal of sense so I have attached an example spreadsheet.
Basically I am looking to find if E1:G1 duplicates further on down the list, hope this makes a bit more sense with the example attached.

I'm using the code below to remove duplicate values from a column of cells, in this case column B.
[Code] ..........
The code works fine, but I'd now like to adapt this so I can remove the duplicates from columns B, C, D and F.
I've tried over the last few days different methods but recieve 'Debug' errors.
For my job I have to take hundreds of codes and compare them to other codes. For example, in column A I'll have 453 codes, in column B I'll have 352 and in column 97. I want to find common codes for all three columns. Sometimes, I'll have just two columns and sometimes it's multiple columns. I have tried a few formulas but nothing works that well. Any formulas or MACRO
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet that lists employees and their certifications. If an employee has multiple, then they will show up on as many rows as they have certifications.
The macro I have merges them into one row with a line break, but only the first column's unique value has been merged while the other columns containing their own unique values are duplicated when I want them to show up only once. Example: Jane Doe shows up 2 times on the report. Her name should only show up once on the row, not 2 times with a line break.
Here is the code. I have also attached an example of what I need. Because the attachment is a simpler version of the actual report, is it possible to specify which rows have the unique values and which ones don't?
I have a excel file which contains dublicate rows. The duplicate rows can be identified based on few cell/column values. I need a macro to delete the duplicate rows when the below condition is satisfied: let us consider row 5 and row 6:
If column 7,12,13,16,17,18,19,23,24,27,28,29,30 in row 5 = row 6 then row 6 has to be deleted. This condition has to be followed for all other rows in the excel used range. Have attached the sample workbook.
From the following example:
A1 TAG B1 mileage
G10-1622 15246
G10-1622 15246
G10-1583 15246
G10-1622 28659
G10-1195 28659
G10-1622 28659
desired results
Enter tag in cell
G10-1662

I wanted to add new column with these values for table 1 including duplicates. this is sample data and i wanted to replace thousands of this type.
I have a workbook that has five worksheets listing warehouse inventory items. One worksheet for 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010 and 2009. In column b of each worksheet is a column B with a heading of "Item Number". There are hundreds of item numbers on each worksheet.
I would like to be able to find and highlight item numbers that appear in multiple years. Preferably color coded showing appears in five, four and three years. If that's too difficult than just items that appear in all five years. I tried conditional formatting, but have been unsuccessful.
Lastly, is there a way to list any duplicate item numbers on a new worksheet.

I want to highlight the cells under System Name (col 1) in sheet 1 that are found in Host (col 1) in sheet 2 "OCPtabvHost"
The text isnt in the same format in the 2nd sheet (it is lower case and has additional text). I need to find the duplicate roots
I have a list of ID's but in the same list there are duplicates, then I have my consolidation sheet without any duplicates, my issue is that I need to have the contents of a different column for each of the ID's.
Data sheet example
Column A (ID) | Column D (Result)
1111 first
2222 other
1111 second
3333 another test
2222 other two's
1111 third
Consolidation sheet
Column A (ID) | Incident 1 | Incident 2 | Incident 3
1111 first second third
2222 other other two's
3333 another test
Is there any formula/vba which could perform something similar?
I am trying to pick out certain bits of information from the below "example" set of data:
A
1
A
1
B
1
C

[Code] .......
My aim is to record the letters that are recorded against both numbers (note: in my data there are more than 2 sets of numbers). For the example above the solution would be:
A
1,2
B
1,2
...because these two letters appear against both 1 and 2.
There are some letters that are duplicated against the same number which is making it hard for me to work out. I don't care if the same letter appears against the same number, I just would like to know instances when a letter appears with a different number, and if possible what that number is.
What i'm trying to do is i would like to compile in 1 column all duplicate values from multiple cells.
ex. A1 to 10 is numbered 1 to 10 respectively, B1 to B10 is numbered 6 to 15 respectively. which means in A1:B10 the duplicate values are 6,7,8,9,10. i could like these number to show automatically in C1 to C5.
I'm new to VBA and macros, using Excel 2010, and am trying to figure out how to delete all duplicate rows in a sheet where 2 or less of their values in column A is "1". I'd like have a script that is flexible enough to change to 3 or less if need be. I also have a header row that needs to be offset in the process.
