I want to do, is search column A for claim numbers that match. When I do have a matching claim number, I want to concatenate the original cells ownership field with the said matching cells ownership field (or move into a column in the same row, I can always concatenate later). Once that is complete, I want to delete the row I took the information out of.
I want to join this data in ArcGIS, but as of right now, it's not a 1-to-1 relationship, so only a relate works. That doesn't help me as I want to display claims by ownership, and this can vary per claim. Company A may have 100% on one claim, and then split another claim 50% with Company B.
This causes a double entry on the claim field in this current spreadsheet I have, which requires me to clean it up by making multiple columns of ownership vs. an additional row for shared ownership.
My problem:
Column A Column B 1235555 Company A (50%) 1235555 Company B (50%) 1235556 Company A (100%) 1235557 Company A (33%) 1235557 Company B (33%) 1235557 Company C (33%)
What I would like to see
Column A Column B Column C Column D 1235555 Company A (50%) Company B (50%) 1235556 Company A (100%) 1235557 Company A (33%) Company B (33%) Company C (33%)
1 workbook, 2 worksheets (or tabs). On tab 1, I want a formula/alert that tells the user if any duplicate values exist in Column A of tab 2
Tab 2, Column A, has Unique ID's (6 digit numeric values)
The user manually inputs the ID's on new rows in Column A
Row 1 is reserved and in use for something else Row 2 is my header, so cell A2 says "ID" Row 3-623 currently contain unique ID's
When the user inputs a new ID into cell A624, then they return to Tab 1, I want my formula/alert on Tab 1 to tell the user that they have duplicates in Column A of tab 2. I know the Conditional Formatting, but if the user copies in 100 new values, they won't necessarily see the highlighted cells. My tab 1 is my "checks and balances" and the last place the user is suppposed to look to ensure that they haven't created any duplicate ID's. If the user sees a warning message that says duplicates exist, then I'll tell them that they need to look at column A (for cells that have been conditionally highlighted).
One issue that I'm running into with the conditional highlighting is that I want cells A3:A1048576 to already have the conditional formatting - this way when the user inserts a value into Cell A624, then A625, etc they conditional formatting is already there. Right now with data in cells A3:A623, cells A624:A1048576 are all highlighted with the Red/Bold Red Font (which is okay I guess), but ideally it would be nice to not count 2+ empty cells as duplicates and I'll have to have my formula on Tab 1 not include the blank cells.
I DO NOT want to use the Remove Duplicates feature of Excel 2010. If I remove them I could be removing data in columns B, C, D, etc that belong to the Unique ID. I just need the user to be told in Tab 1 that they DO have duplicates and I'll train the user how to research this and fix it.
The reason I want to look for duplicates in the entire Column A is because the list of Unique ID's will grow over time.
I have 4 columns in my spreadsheet. I am trying to find any duplicates that may exist in Col A, sum values in Col D, then delete the entire row. So far my sheet before I run my vba code is this.
Col A 100 101 102 105 100 101 102 105
Col D 5 4 2 4 1 2 3 1
After my code is run, I need for my spreadsheet to look like this
Col A 100 101 102 105
Col D 6 6 5 5
I have some code but I still need to do a considerable amount of tweaking to it. Currently my code is only deleting the duplicate values in Col A. I am having difficulty summing the values in Col D as well as deleting the entire row.
Here is my code thus far....
------- Public Sub FindDuplicates() For RwCnt = 1 To (Worksheets(1).Cells(65536, 1).End(xlUp).Row) SrchValue = Worksheets(1).Cells(RwCnt, 1).Value If Len(Trim(SrchValue)) > 0 Then With Worksheets(1).Range("a1:a" & Cells(65536, 1).End(xlUp).Row)

One aspect of my Excel-based project involves comparing the operator-entered part number (in Excel) to a predetermined list of part numbers in one column of an Access database table. Right now, my program is telling me that every part number entered in the spreadsheet (50+) does not match any part number in the database, which I've verified to be incorrect. I've checked that both the spreadsheet part number and the database part number are of the string datatype.
To the best of my knowledge, my looping logic seems valid and robust. To the best of my knowledge, there are no hidden characters in either the database cells or in the spreadsheet cells causing this apparent mismatch. I'm completely stumped at this point as to why my program doesn't detect any matches between the spreadsheet and the database table. Below is the Sub containing the code for checking that the part numbers match:

This issue seems to be a hybrid issue between Excel and Access with (to me) more of the issue on the Access end.
So I am trying to mark certain rows as duplicates if their values in Columns J, AD and ABS(BD) match. J and AD contain Number letter Identification combinations and BD contains a value. I currently have a formula as shows that will mark all of these values:
The issue with this formula is that I do not want it to mark rows that look like this:
J - AD - BD AA1 BB2 20 AA1 BB2 -20 AA1 BB2 20
I have a lot of rows that will appear like this. Their sum in BD equals the absolute value of the value in BD. I thought this would get picked up using the SUMIFS portion of my formula but it is not. I cannot find the problem.
What I need to do is (somehwhat) automate the process of filtering or deleting out all rows which have duplicate data in the first column, but not second or third columns. I'm sure it's been done...I tried the Excel out-of-the-box.
I have a sheet whereby in column A i have company names and column B how much is invested in this company so:
A B AAPL 10 GOOG 5 MSFT 15 APPL 5 IBM 20 GOOG 10
What i would like to do via macro is take all the duplicates sum them so that i see AAPL as 15 but only be left with one row. So we would be left with only 4 rows each with their summed weight.
In Column "C" there is a list of numbers ( these number realte to incidentsm and are called incident IDs) and I want to delete the rows that have duplicate incident IDs.
I have a number of rows that I want to have duplicated X number of times (and altered) where X is found by looking at certain cells within each row.
There are four numbers in each row, and I want to split them up into multiple rows each with three zeros and one one.
I would like to convert data from this:
Name W X Y Z John 1 0 0 0 Doug 0 0 1 0 Karl 3 0 1 0 Mike 0 1 1 2 etc.
...to this:
Name W X Y Z John 1 0 0 0 Doug 0 0 1 0 Karl 1 0 0 0 Karl 1 0 0 0 Karl 1 0 0 0 Karl 0 0 1 0 Mike 0 1 0 0 Mike 0 0 1 0 Mike 0 0 0 1 Mike 0 0 0 1 etc.
You can see that the W, X, Y, and Z columns from the four new Mike rows sum to equal the values in the original Mike row (0, 1, 1, 2), but everything has been split so that each row just has a single one in it and three zeros.
Does anyone have an idea of how to do this? Thanks Auto Merged Post Until 24 Hrs Passes;I thought of another way of putting it that may be easier to understand.
Given an input row of "George, 4, 7, 3, 2", I would like the output to contain 4 rows of "George, 1, 0, 0, 0", 7 rows of "George, 0, 1, 0, 0", 3 rows of "George, 0, 0, 1, 0", and 2 rows of "George, 0, 0, 0, 1".
I have a sheet with 45,000 rows. Let's say each row has 4 columns: Create_timestamp, Update_timestamp, email_address, and o_flag
Many rows have duplicate email addresses. I would like to remove all the duplicate rows, EXCEPT for the row with the most recent Update_timestamp.
And actually, if I could just "hide" all those rows, that would be even better, but I'd be happy just figuring out how to delete all the "old" rows, so I just have a list of unique email addresses, with their create/update timestamps and o_flag column. Seems like this is such a basic use case for "Remove Duplicates,",.
I have a data set which has 6 columns (and lots of rows). Every row is different but I want to aggregate them based on 4 fields and then find the average of the numerical column for the results. I basically want to Group based on 4 fields and find the average of the 5th field.
My initial approach was to introduce a column which is a combination of the 4 fields I want to group by, simply in the Excel file (=A2&B2&C2&D2) and then find duplicates of that. I have a solution for this in VBA but when importing new data sets in this method is very slow, so I want to be able to do the whole thing in VBA.
I have a spreadsheet that lists employees and their certifications. If an employee has multiple, then they will show up on as many rows as they have certifications.
The macro I have merges them into one row with a line break, but only the first column's unique value has been merged while the other columns containing their own unique values are duplicated when I want them to show up only once. Example: Jane Doe shows up 2 times on the report. Her name should only show up once on the row, not 2 times with a line break.
Here is the code. I have also attached an example of what I need. Because the attachment is a simpler version of the actual report, is it possible to specify which rows have the unique values and which ones don't?
I have a excel file which contains dublicate rows. The duplicate rows can be identified based on few cell/column values. I need a macro to delete the duplicate rows when the below condition is satisfied: let us consider row 5 and row 6:
If column 7,12,13,16,17,18,19,23,24,27,28,29,30 in row 5 = row 6 then row 6 has to be deleted. This condition has to be followed for all other rows in the excel used range. Have attached the sample workbook.
I'm new to VBA and macros, using Excel 2010, and am trying to figure out how to delete all duplicate rows in a sheet where 2 or less of their values in column A is "1". I'd like have a script that is flexible enough to change to 3 or less if need be. I also have a header row that needs to be offset in the process.
A---B- 0--123 <-delete 0--123 <-delete 0--123 <-delete 1--123 <-delete based on this the value of column A 0--123 <-delete 0--123 <-delete 1--321 1--321 1--321 1--321 1--321
or
A---B- 0--123 <-delete 0--123 <-delete 1--123 <-delete 1--123 <-delete based on this the value of column A 0--123 <-delete 0--123 <-delete 1--321 1--321 1--321 1--321 1--321
I am a behavior specialist and I have created a spreadsheet to determine what possible antecedents trigger certain behaviors. In other words, I want to know what occurs, like being around an unfamiliar person, right before a person engages in an "acting out behavior" like becoming verbally or physically aggressive. In my spreadsheet I have a number of possible antecedents with a number of possible behaviors. It is tracked by the date that the behavior occurred.
I want to determine the number of values SUMIF/SUMPRODUCT functions used/checked to arrive at the answer, i.e. 95 for row 2 and 116 for row 3. A function that can give a 3 and 2 respectively.
Example:
Results for Row #2 gives: 95 with 3 values picked up under "Rate"
Results for Row #3 gives: 116 with 2 values though three places were checked up under "Rate"
How can I count the number of these values referencing at the "Rate" like in the functions used.
I managed to use SUMIF/SUMPRODUCT functions to calculate totals based on "Rate" in row one.
I tried COUNTIF function, but allows only field/heading.
I have two sheets containing data, Sheet 1 and Sheet 2. Sheet 1 contains columns A-P, while sheet 2 only contains columns A-K.
Some of the records listed in Sheet 2 are already in Sheet 1 with more complete data, but there are some records not in Sheet 1 and the only information available for these records is in Sheet 2.
I am looking for a macro that will compare columns A in Sheet 1 and Sheet 2 and for any records found in Sheet 2 but not sheet one, the entire row A-K of Sheet 2 will be added to Sheet 1.
I have a spreadsheet that contains overtime information for employees. Basically, it has a list of names in column A, and a list of projects in the first row, similar to this:
Name 100323 100887 100987 100987 Sum
[Code]....
At the top of the page I've inserted a section similar to this:
Name Project Number # Of Hours
SMITH, John 100883 5
Where the name and project number are drop down data validation lists containing all of the project numbers and employees at our facility, and the # of hours section is just a manual entry.
I require a macro that, upon clicking a button, will verify that the name is in the list and insert a row if there isn't as well as verify the project is in the row and insert a column it isn't.. then it will add the number of hours i specified in the box. It would also be nice if the list of names would sort alphabetically and the project numbers would sort numerically from left to right after any additions. As well as clear the selections and # of hours I entered in the second table shown above once everything has been entered in to the main (first) table.
I'm pretty new to creating my own macros (even though im an engineer.. )
I have a spreadsheet with 3300 rows. In column A there is a list of company names and in column H there is a corresponding Sales Rep name.Column A has many duplicate company names. I would like to run a macro that will find the a company name and then delete all the rest of the rows that contain that same company name.
I have done a spreadsheet that shows leave for staff. At anyone time there can be only 3 managers and 4 staff off as a maximum and the cell value for the day is entered as "AL". Therefore on a given day if someone tried to enter a fifth "AL" for example in the staff section a pop up displays stating they have reached a maximum.
Im trying to come up with a Macro that will perform a =SUM() function across multiple workbooks. Some of these workbooks may exist, some may not.
For example, Summary.xls has a =sum() formula that picks up data from wbk1.xls wbk2.xls wbk3.xls etc, all the way to 100
Today i only have wbk 1, 2 and 3 but i know everyday more wbk's are added so i want to create a sum type function to accomodate the sbk's that may be created at a future time.
Right now when i try it, I not only get REF/# but on opening Summary.xls I get a popup that asks me to define the missing wbk's
