I am trying to do a dynamic formatting where only first row of each unique value should have font color black & rest of the values of same should have white font color. This would happen for each unique value in row D.
My code is working fine when each value has same number of rows (Row D)
But when each value has different number of rows then code is giving some weird results.
I have attached file with sample values & code which works fine with equal rows of each values.
The 'Details' sheet has, among other data, the 'year' that the workbook refers to. From this, the beginning and end dates of each quarter appear in Cells F2:F10 in the 'Details' Sheet in the format dd/mm/yyyy.
In the 'Management' Sheet I have four buttons - Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4. I want to attach code to apply a custom autofilter to each button so that clicking on one of the buttons will show only data from that quarter.
Using the macro recorder the following code is generated when applying a custom AutoFilter for Quarter One:
I want to get the dynamic sum of a column after a change in the auto filter. In the attached excel after filtering the column 1 and column 2, i want to add all the values of column 3. This should happen dynamically.
For E.g. : Column 1 =0 Column 2 =a (Refer to the attached excel sheet.)
Then Total should return 200 (i.e. Sum of column 3 after the filtering).
For obvious reasons, the conditional formatting to shade alternate rows doesn't work when filtered. So I think I need another way of doing it. Luckily, my table is fairly static, rows aren't added or removed. The first column is excluded from the banding. As is the first and last row with data (1 & 67) respectively. I found a relevant thread here, but the code is beyond my understanding.
I was wondering if it is possible to have cells formatted based on the presence of an autofilter? I have a large worksheet, and to clean it up I would like to make the entire sheet (minus the category headers) invisible. Then, when the user applies a filter, the cells become visible.
Is it possible to Conditionally Format using the (Custom) Data Validation Tool one or both of the following conditions:-
1. Force the user to enter the correct decimal point position for a given currency :-
The are 3 different decimal point locations location's - 0.87624 / 123.123 / 1273.00 There are always 6 numerals We have a table to lookup which specifies where the decimal point is on all currencies
CURRENCY AUDUSD< List is linked to a table Price - High 0.87744< Decimal point dependant on chosen currency pair chosen Price - Low 0.86596 Price - Close 0.86823
2. As above but numbers once entered will be formatted accordingly to the correct decimal place to the corresponding currency
I have an Excel 2007 Workbook which is refreshed by a Web Query. I have dynamic named range defined as "Manager" which I've confirmed is correctly identified. This range includes only one column and is formatted as text.
When I try to reference this range in my conditional formatting "refers to" formula, all cells are recognized as blank even though the range clearly contains many cells that are not. For example, there are 90 records containing the initials "PD". If I use the formula =Manager="PD" in my conditional formatting, nothing changes. If I change it to =Manager="" then ALL records are formatted, including those that are not blank.
Stranger still, if I enter the formula =COUNTIF(Manager,"PD") into and empty cell in my worksheet those 90 records are counted correctly. Which leads me to believe it isn't about the data. Conversely, =COUNTIF(Manager,"") returns the correct count of only cells that are, in fact, blank.
I've tried using the OFFSET formula defining my range in place of the name itself for my conditional format formula to no avail.
I can select the top cell in column "F" after filtering by multiple columns using VBA and arrays, but now want to I want to use the top cell in column "F" to search for all other equipment that uses this item.
E.g. remove filter, and reapply autofilter to column "F" based on selected cell as per below VBA
Note: Row 1 contains command buttons and row 2 Headers.
I can set the autofilter, change it, remove all using Macros. What I need to know how to do is reset a filtered column to ALL while leaving all other filters on.
I have a range which will change in size & in content, & I want this to be a Named Range at whatever size it is.
Reason I want to is because I want to make a Validation List with this dynamic range. I also want a Validation list which lists the content of 2 or more dynamic ranges which may or may not be on the same worksheet - is this possible?
i.e. First dynamic range: called "Milestones" at A11 Second dynamic range: called "Activities" at A25 & make a Validation list that will list content of both
I would like to replace the blue bit of this Dynamic Named Range (DNR) with an INDIRECT formula in order to modify the starting point for the DNR: =OFFSET(DATA!$C$60,0,0,20,1). Unfortunately, I can’t seem to get my INDIRECT formula to work in order to use it to replace the blue bit above: INDIRECT("'"DATA"'!&ADDRESS(MATCH('SHEET1'!AC8,DATA_Date,0)+22,3)"). The orange bit of the formula above returns a value of 60, therefore the ADDRESS formula should return $C$60, that can then feed into the INDIRECT and act as the equivalent of DATA!$C$60. But it doesn’t.
I have a question on the above but can't seem to find a solution. There are two ways that I can find for dealing with dynamic lists via data validation:-
1) Offset and match, cavet being the data must be sorted a-z 2) Have lists for each potential selection
Is there any way to get around 1 without having to do 2? E.g. Got two columns of data, unsorted, and a list from which the user can choose from. The user chooses from the list in first cell, in the second cell require the dynamic list to return all the values accordingly?
I have a dynamic table which is linked to a couple of charts. The table must remain dynamic.
I needed to add two new columns to the table, "Focus Area" and "Category". I need a drop down list in the "Category" column to be dependent on the item selected from a drop down menu in "Focus Area".
I can get the first row of the dynamic table to do this.... however; subsequent rows all lock the drop down list in the "Category" column to the same choices regardless of what is chosen in the "Focus Area" list.
Is there a way to make dynamic drop downs within a dynamic table?
A little background on what i am doing. I have a spreadsheet that tracks when i have blown the dust out of our computers. I have set up conditional formatting so that the text turns red after 300 days and the cell turns yellow after 600 days. However, some computers are in high dust environments. I would like the spreadsheet to tell me to blow the dust out of these sooner. see the attached sheet.
I'm trying to analyse all of my bank statenments to see where all my money went!! I've got online banking so I thought it would be a relatively easy process of copying and pasting each month into excel.
Well, that in itself was easy, the problem is with the formatting of the financial numbers. Excel doesn't seem to recognise them as numbers, so at the moment I can't do any manipulation with the numbers. I have tried everything such as:
Format Cells > Number > Number and Currency Copy and Paste Special > Values only Copying into Notepad and back into Excel
Even if it appears to have changed the numbers to 'number' or 'currency' formatting by right justifying the numbers, if I try to add up the numbers using the SUM function, it doesn't want to know.
For some reason nothing seems to work - what am I missing?
For an example, I have attached a snippet of the spreadsheet with my starbucks transactions.
Is there "code" for different formatting in a spreadsheet so you can use an IF statement to do something like:
if(A1=blue background,"Yes","No")
or
if(A1=red text,"Yes","No")
etc.?? But replace "blue background" and "red text" with some sort of number code? I want to compile a list of the items that are formatted with certain background colors and/or text colors and then organize only those items into a chart.
Any VBA that I can put into a macro that will convert conditional formatting into fixed formatting..? So when the cell contents/formulas are deleted the formatting remains. Assume that the range I want to convert is A1:D200...
I have a list of item numbers in a column which is Autofiltered. I can go to the autofilter drop down and then to custom and select two item numbers to allow through the filter, however I have about ten item numbers that I want to allow through the filter.
Is it possible to have multiple instances of autofilter on a single worksheet? The two autofilters should not be related to each other and are on different sets of data (in different rows as well as columns but in the same worksheet).
I have a situation - where I have a table and a "eSubtotal" cell that basically shows the subtotal value when Autofilter is ON and a SUMIFS calculated value when Autofilter is OFF. I have written this in the Selection change event of the sheet.
For this purpose, I have perform a regular check of AutoFilterMode = true or false and based on this result, I change the formula in the cell, eSubtotal.
Now the challenge is, I don't want to apply SUBTOTAL formula when AutoFilter is ON but there is no filter in any of the columns. I want to keep the SUMIFS just like that in this case.
i am trying to filter data based on more than one criteria (8 to be precise). I have some data in one worksheet and i need to transfer it to other worksheets depending on certain criteria. for example if cell A1 has A or B then it should go to "temp1" spreadhseet, if A1 has C,D, E, F, G or H then it should go to "temp2" worksheet etc.
Is there a smart way of doing this rather than writing a number of with statements using 2 criterias each and hence copying data in more than one attempt (and thus slowing down the macro)?
I did think of using creating a dummy column, then using If statements to write True or false in that column, using true & false to filter and copy the data and then finally deleting the column. but as i understand i can not have more than 7 nested if statements but i have 8 criterias.
I have a workbook of approx. 60,000 rows, with about 20 columns including a source identity column, such as 'Leeds' , 'Barnet' etc..
What i need is a solution that will auto filter all rows that have a value of 'Leeds' in the source column into a new workbook called 'leeds.xls' for eg. and so on (for each unique source value) and loop until the whole data set has been filtered.
Saves manually filtering, copying and pasting....over and over.....
Im guessing the VBA needs to build / look at an array etc...
