Excel 2003 :: Conditional Formatting Based On Application Of AutoFilter?

Dec 7, 2011

I was wondering if it is possible to have cells formatted based on the presence of an autofilter? I have a large worksheet, and to clean it up I would like to make the entire sheet (minus the category headers) invisible. Then, when the user applies a filter, the cells become visible.

Excel 2003 :: Repeated Value Conditional Formatting?

Feb 16, 2012

I'm working in Excel 2003.

I'm looking for a way to use conditional formatting to flag a cell in a list if the user enters a value that already exists in that list. Just trying to keep any values from being entered twice.

I understand how to set cond form to flag a cell, but not what criteria to enter to activate the formatting when a value has already been used.

Some sort of =IF(COUNT...?) function?

Excel 2003 :: How To Use Conditional Formatting Across Multiple Columns

Jul 14, 2014

I am using Excel 2003. I have a spread sheet and I am trying to use conditional formatting. But I can't figure out how to use conditional formatting across multiple columns and so I have been doing each column individually which has been kind of a hassle. I also am trying to figure out how to put in a formula so that every occurrence of a certain text will show up a certain color. I know that I can just do "cell value is", "equal to" and click on the cell, but the information in this spread sheet is organized alphabetically and is going to be added to frequently therefore every time I add information it re-organizes. This then messes up my conditional formatting because the text value that was in the cell gets bumped up or down.

Excel 2003 :: Font Size Dependent On Cell Value (not Using Conditional Formatting)

Nov 28, 2012

Excel 2003.

I am creating a heat map using two variables from a questionnaire: firstly the number of people impacted by a question; and secondly, the level of the impact. Respondents are asked to give these values in two adjacent cells. These are then multiplied to give a weight eg 1000 people x level 3 impact = 3000. I have used Conditional Formatting to colour the cell according to the impact level (0 = none - white (default), 1 = moderate - tan, 2 = significant - orange, 3 = high - red). What I want to do is then change the font size to give an indication of the number of people impacted, eg 1 - 1000 font 8, 1001 - 3000 font 12, 3001 - 8000 font 16, 8000 - 2000 font 24 etc. The size of font and colour will then represent the number of respondents and their impact.

I can't use Conditional Formatting as the value of 3000 could be derived from 1000 people at level 3 (red), or 3000 people at level 1 (tan). Is there another way of setting the font size depending on the cell value, eg by VBA?

Excel 2003 :: Conditional Formatting Not Working And Cannot Change Colour Of A Cell Or Writing?

Sep 23, 2013

Excel 2003

On one of our computers at work, Excel is acting especially strange. The conditional formatting in Excel on one of our computers is not working. In addition, we cannot fill a cell with any color or change the color of the writing. We can click a color for the letters and type it in, but immediately after another cell is highlighted, the writing goes black again. When we try to highlight multiple cells with the cursor, the cells are black instead of the normal color. This happens to not just spreadsheets that are new, but existing spreadsheets on our shared drive from only this one computer as well. No other computers are affected this way. All other computers show the spreadsheets fine and do not have any functionality issues.

Excel 2003 :: Saving Files Generated By External Application

Jul 23, 2013

I have the following code which edits an excel file and saves it in a different format, I think want the code to take this newly saved file and open it in an external application (Softplot) and then save it through this new application.

VB:
Sub FormatMacro1a(ws As Worksheet)
ws.Copy
Rows(1).Delete
Columns("D:E").Cut Destination:=Columns("J:K")
Columns("F:K").Cut Destination:=Columns("D:I")
Range("E1:E201").Value = "0"

[Code] .....

As it stands I have the file saving in a new format and I can open a specific file in softplot through VBA however where I am getting stuck is opening my newly saved file and then saving it.

I have tried the following :

VB:
Path = "C:Program FilesSoftPlot-8softplot.exe"
File = "ActiveWorkbook"

Conditional Formatting Verify That The Lines Of Data Being Pulled From My Application

Jun 9, 2009

I would like to use conditional formatting verify that the lines of data being pulled from my application into Excel, but totaled using "=sum" are equal to totals pulled directly from my application. I believe that I should be able to use conditional formatting but am not sure how to make the formula work correctly.

To illustrate my problem: I have cells A1 (a total of a range), A2 (also a total of a range) and A3 (total of data pulled directly into my Excel report). In cell A3 I would like to verify that lines A1 + A2 - A3 = 0. This I can do without any problem, but there is rounding involved. The total of the above formula should be between -1 and 1 and still show as correct. I want the number in A3 to show up in red/bold when incorrect.

Excel 2007 :: Conditional Formatting Based On Two Previous Values

Feb 19, 2013

I'm creating an excel document that tracks the amount of time someone has (in months) in the program. Certain residents are able to 'fast track' if they meet conditions, and I am trying to create this spreadsheet so that anyone who looks at it can tell who qualifies (and when).

The issue I'm having is with conditional formatting, because I don't know how to do it with mutliple conditions.

Column C is their previous time (months) in the program
Column D is their current time (months) in the program
Column E is their total time in the program (Sum C+D)

Coumn E is what I would like to format, based on the following rules set out in the program manual:

If previous time is 9 months or more, a resident is eligible to fast track after 6 months current time (format green).
If previous time is less than 6 months, a resident is eligible to fast track after 9 months current time (format green).

I understand that their is an odd gap - but these are the rules currently set out by the program manual, which is what I have to follow.

I'm using Excel 2007 - if that changes anything.

Excel 2010 :: Highlighting Data Based On Conditional Formatting

Apr 1, 2014

I'm using Excel 2010 on my Mac. I would like to set up the data as follows:

A
B
C
D
E
F

NAME
DATA X
DATA Y
DATA Z
DATA XX
DATA YY

NAME
90%
88.2
410
88.4%
97.8

[Code] ........

Now what I would like to do is have the data in each column highlighted a certain color based on specific ranges. For example in Column B I want anything from 92% - 100% highlighted blue. I would like 83% - 91.9% highlighted purple, and anything under 83% highlighted red. Do I need to have a conditional format entered in each cell? Can I set up a conditional format for the whole column? Once I can figure the formatting in my example the remaining columns will be a breeze since they will be set up in the same manner just different number ranges, same colors will apply.

Conditional Formatting In 2003

Jan 7, 2010

I use Excel 2003. I want to do a conditional formatting on a cell (e.g. A1), which value is from an If() formulas. The value could be a percentage or a text “DataNAvail”. The conditional formatting on A1 is based on another cell’s value (e.g. B1), which is also a percentage.

Since in Excel 2003 there are only three options for conditional formatting. I used two for green (A1 greater than B1) and yellow (formulas in A1 equals AND(A1<B1, A1>=B1*0.75)). I want to set A1 to red when its value <B1*0.75 or is “DataNAvail”. Since they are not the same type, I don’t know how to do it.

Excel 2003 :: AutoFilter By Day Of Week When Day Is From Custom Format?

Jan 23, 2012

I'm working with three large data sets covering a month of data in 5 minute intervals. There is a single date and time column which I am using some custom formats to list Time in 12 hour format, AM or PM and Day of the week.

Based upon the various analysis scenarios, adding some Autofilter columns is meeting most of my needs. One issue I am having is that I can filter on a single day using the built in list that Autofilter provides. But I have been asked to look at weekend vs weekday.

Since Excel 2003 only offers two filter criteria, I thought I could use a custom filter with Saturday and Sunday as include or exclude criteria. But, what I am findings is that while the Autofilter shows each day in the dropdown, certain attempts to use them within the custom autofilter do not work.

For example, equals Saturday and equals Sunday correctly returns only weekend data. However, if I try changing both to Does not equals, the result is that no data is filtered. Some of my research indicates that the problem is that the date information being presented as days of the week would need to be text strings . This seems to shed some light on the issue as any attempts at using wildcards fail.

Excel 2011 :: Conditional Formatting Based On Text Match From If Statement?

Oct 2, 2013

I want to highlight a cell if the text displayed from an IF formula is equal to the cell content.

CELLS BK10:BN10 are merged and have entered into them the following text "SELL"

Cells BJ20:BP20 are merged and contain the following formula which currently results in the cell displaying "SELL"

=IF(BM22<=-0.08,"SELL", IF(AND(BM22>-0.08,BM22 < -0.03),"NO INDICATION", IF(BM22>=-0.03,"HOLD")))

Cell BM22 is a percentage calculation of the differences between two different days of volume for this stock and that formula is: =(BH22/BH25)-1 Cell BM22 currently is calculating the result to be -65.65%

When I set up a CLASSIC Conditional Formatting using a formula (="If($BJ$20=""SELL""") to check the if the text in cells BK10 match the text displayed in cell BJ20 - I get no error messages and no formatting?

I am using Mac Office Excel 2011. I feel like I have tried everything including changing the Number selection type of the cells to TEXT. Nothing seems to works.

Excel 2010 :: Conditional Formatting Of Table Rows Based On Value In Column?

Jan 2, 2014

I'm working in Excel 2010.

I setup a table with a column titled "Type". Each value under column "Type" defines the type of row it is: "Section", "SubSection", "SubSubSection"

I wish to create a set of conditional formatting rules that apply to data rows in this table, each rule controlling how cells within a whole row should be formatted, according to the value found in "Type", for that row.

Example:

Rule1: [@Type]="Section" -> fat red line on top of cell.
Rule2: [@Type]="SubSection" -> thin black line on top of cell.
Rule3: [@Type]="SubSubSection" -> dashed black line on top of cell.

I can't seem to make this work.

How can I leverage the nice column names, and the "@"-this row designator, within a table to create conditional formatting rules that apply to all the cells within a row, in the same way one can refer to in table formulas?

Conditional Formatting Blues In 2003

I am having a fit trying to get this darn spreadsheet to do what I need it to do. I have to flag rolling dates on a spreadsheet (i.e. if a training date is to occur every three years, I need for it to change colors according to the date given - like if it is past three years, then it needs to turn red. if the date is in the next six months, it needs to turn green). Excel 2010 :: 3+ Conditional Formatting Rules For Cell Range Based On Formula From Other Cells

Feb 5, 2013

how to apply conditional formatting via VBA to a range of cells based on input from another range of cells. Obviously this would be easy in Excel 2010, but I'm still using 2003 at the office and it needs to stay in this format to be readable by other users:

For cells M8:EK8, my conditional formatting
condition 2: Formula Is =AND($E$8>=M2,(($E$8-$D$8)>=(N2-$M$2))), color index is 40
condition 3: Formula Is =AND($F$8<=M2,$G$8>=M2), color index is 39
I want to add:
condition 4: Formula Is =AND($H$8<=M2,$I$8>=M2), color index is 40
condition 5: Formula Is =AND($J$8<=M2,$K$8>=M2), color index is 39
and so on

The cells in the range M8:EK8 are blank, they only get colored based on input added to D8 to K8. If there is no input, then the cells should be uncolored.

Excel 2007 :: Conditional Formatting And Adding Text To Cell Based On Multiple Cells

May 31, 2013

I'm using Excel 2007. I would prefer to stay away from the scripting side of the house if possible. This is basically a 3 day forcast weather chart. The top is the actual weather data, the bottom portion is a color coded reflection of how the weather affects various things.

This product is created in excel, but will be embedded into a powerpoint. It will be updated daily. Here is what I would like. I want the color chart at the bottom to update automatically based on the data I enter above. I have a grasp that I can update the color through conditional formatting, although im not exactly sure what that will look like with all of those cells.

I also figured out that I can insert the letters in those lower cells with something similar to " =IF(C6>90, "T", "") " which would put in a 'T' for Temperature when the temperature got above a certain degree.

I run into a problem when I have multiple factors affecting a single cell. For instance on the example in day 2 of my image. Personnel are affected by Temperate AND UV Index. How would I set up that cell to pull that information from both of those cells and display it accordingly? I would prefer the letters to stay separated by the comma, but I could live without that. The default cell color will be green, with the potential to be yellow or red. I left a few examples of possible situations on day 2 and 3.
