Excel 2007 :: Delete ALL Connections In Workbook Without Having To Specify Names
Oct 20, 2008
The following code deletes a specific connection in a workbook:-
ActiveWorkbook.Connections("text123").Delete
How can I code this so that I can delete ALL connections in a workbook without having to specify the names (as these will always be different).

I have an Excel Workbook with Showcase Queries embedded into it.
Upon a manual open, the user is prompted to either refresh data or keep data since last save, the user then has to enter a username and password to allow the query to access the database.
Using the code below to open the workbook, no such prompts are given. Is the code overriding the prompts and automatically refreshing the data without password? [Given nature of data, visual validation of refresh is not possible]
If not, how can we code a data refresh through showcase query with user/pw req's?

I have a file that has an original file format .xls
I saved as .xlsx (I am using Excel 2007) with a different name so I could make changes to the new file without changing the original.
That turn off compatibility mode.... but it is still "shared". While it is shared I cannot delete a sheet. In fact, I really don't even want it to be shared. If the file is open, and someone else opens it, I want it to open as "read only". I cannot uncheck the "Allow changes by more than one user at the same time. This also allows workbook merging." checkbox because it is greyed out.

I am trying to write a macro to delete all connections from a very large excel file
I created this file by using a Macro to extract data from a external data source (url's listed on a sheet)
The issue is the 1000+ connections on this file make it next to impossible to operate
I cannot recreate the file
macro to delete all connections in all sheets in a given work book.
[URL]
Macro used :
Sub Dump()
Dim myURL
Sheets("Sheet1").Select
ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select
myURL = Worksheets("Sheet1").Range(ActiveCell.Address).Text
Sheets("Sheet2").Select
Range("A65536").Select

From this file, I want to delete the names, formulas, macros (but to keep the values & formatting in tact) of another workbook (there must be a prompt for which .xls file, the names etc. to be deleted). All files are in a same folder.

I have a table with names of employees in Column A, the data for each employee is written in columns B, C and D.
I'd like to be able to type in this data in cells E12-E14 and have Excel bring up all of the names in the table that are associated with this data, and preferably separate them with commas.
I'm working with Excel 2007, without VBA/Marcros.
Please see the example file: find_name_example.xlsx

My issue is we have a remote office, using an access DB which links to an Excel file. We sometimes send the files to other people to make changes, but the link is then broken (it was a network location).
You can just change it manually, or accept the many prompts that come up, but it needs doing at each end, each time.
I thought I'd do a routine to change the connection paths, this is what I have...
Code:
Sub alan()
Dim i As Long
Dim cnt As Long
Dim modtext As String, modfile As String
Dim modrange As String, OldPath As String, NewPath As String
OldPath = "\192.168.1.100MultimediaCommissioning Folder"
NewPath = "C:matts"
[Code] ...
I added the sourcedatafile part to the routine afterwards, because the connection string part worked fine. But I now get Run-time error '1004' Application-defined or object-defined error...

In the workbook the sheet names are month names e.g. july,august,September etc and 1st of each month is to be entered in a cell in each the sheets. By some trial and error I wrote this macro
VB:
Sub test()
Dim j As Integer, monthnr As Long, monthname As String
For j = 1 To Worksheets.Count
[Code]....
This worked in July sheet it is written as 7/1/2013 and in august sheet it is 8/1/2013 etc Then I shortened the macro like thlis
VB:
Sub test()
Dim dte As Date
dte = "july" & "/1/2013"
Range("A1") = dte
End Sub
It worked. Even if I use shortened 3 letter form of month like "Jul" or "aug" then also it works
But if type on the spreadsheet itself
="july"/1/2013
It Gives value error.
Perhaps it works only in vba and not spreadsheet.
I accept nobody is going to use "july" & "/1/2013" instead of 7/1/2013 But this will be useful if sheet names are month names so that when we write the date we can use sheet names Mine excel 2007 and windows 7.

I have created a pivot table using a family name in row labels. The names appear in alphabetical order unless the person's name is the same as a month or day of the week. The result is that I have Mr Sun and Mr May at the top of my list, rather than listed alphabetically. Sorting the list does not solve the problem. It switches Mr Sun and Mr May, but does not included them in the main list. Is there a setting I can use that will stop Excel 2007 thinking that these words are something that they are not?

I have 450 names for which I would like to create email addresses. For example:
Name: John Doe
Required email address: John.Doe@boston.gov.tr
Is there a way to convert all 450 names in one go so I can then upload to MS Outlook and then send emails to these people? I am using MS Excel 2003 & 2007.

The main objective of the code is to create different workbooks that are going to be send to different people(with only their data).
I am using the filter to delete the data that I don't need and then create a new workbook, save it and close it. This has been working fine.
The issue is that I have two slicers in the 'DistMenu' sheet. When I open again the newest workbook, they slicers are disconnected to the pivot tables. This can be fix manually by selecting the slicers --> PivotTables Connections etc
I use the macro recording to get a code and work from there, but is giving me error '1004' "Unable to get the PivotTables property of the Worksheet class".

I'm trying to use vba to create an offline backup file for a sheet that is linked to an access database. the code I have is simple and worked for a file that is not linked to any database.
Code:
Sheets("Data").Select
Sheets("Data").Copy
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=myfilename
Application.DisplayAlerts = True
Now that I insert it into the actual file, which is linked to the database I get an error. I also tried to move the display alert up, before the select instructions, but also this does not work. this is not what I wanted since I want this file not to possibly connect to any database.

I have a few dozen pictures created when a macro runs. They all have unique names. I'd like to add comments to cells, where the cell.value decides which picture to pull. All the examples I've found online show how to do this if you have pictures saved on your hard drive by referencing the file path "c://mydocs/...blahblah/"
Is there a way to reference the pictures I've created/named with my macro?
Here's the snippet of code that creates the pictures and names them:
Code:
For i = 2 To Application.CountA(Sheets("Allocation").Rows(1))
Sheets("Allocation").Activate
Set rInput = Sheets("Allocation").Range(Cells(1, i), Cells(10, i))
sPicName = "_" & Sheets("Allocation").Cells(1, i) & "_"
sSheet = Sheets("Allocation").Cells(3, i)
dDate = Sheets("Allocation").Cells(5, i)
[Code] ......
Here are some examples that are close to what I'm looking for.

VBA Express : Excel - Add pictures that float like comments.

In any open (new or existing) workbook (Excel 2007), I cannot delete a column by right clicking the column header and highlighting the entire column. The "delete" word is greyed out and not selectable. I CAN however still delete a column by going to the "Cells" toolbar, then "Delete" pulldown menu, then "Delete Sheet Columns". Right clicking the column header is much simpler and easier.
BTW, I can still delete rows by both methods of right clicking on the row header and by going to the Cells toolbar.

I am using Excel 2007 and I created a table (i.e., listobject) using the macro recorder as follows:
Code:
ActiveSheet.ListObjects.Add(xlSrcRange, Range("$A$3:$J$50"), , xlYes).Name = "MyData"
Questions:
1. How do I delete this table via VBA?
2. How would I check to see if this table already exists so it follows this logic:
If "table does not exists" then
'create it (using the line of code above)
End If

I have two spreadsheets. one contains a master list of computer names. the other contains a list of computer names to be removed from the master list (exception list).
I need to go through the master list and remove any computer names that are on the exception list- for example, if 'computer1' is in the exception list, i have to find and remove 'computer1' from the master list.
The exception list is quite long, and I want to automate this process if possible. not sure how to achieve this.
I'm using Excel 2007 Standard.

Following the tips doesn't allow to remove a character.
I exported email addresses from Outlook and they have the following character ' in front of the email address.
Using Excel 2007.. it says :"check if your search formatting and criteria are defined correctly. If you are sure that matching data exists in this workbook, it may be on a protected worksheet. Excel cannot replace data on a protected worksheet"
So I made a new file, and copied and pasted the cells into the new spreadsheet.. same message.

What i have is a workbook that can have multiple sheets. Sheet 2,3,4 (if there are) are a continuation of sheet 1. First 2 rows of sheet 1 are headers and the last row of the last sheet (can be 2,3, 4....) is a footer. There are 14 columns (A-N) in each sheet. Col "N" has set status and col I has set names.
What i am looking for is a macro that can perform the following actions in the the set order:
1) deletes all rows where status in col N is "closed"
2) delete all rows where name in Col I is "Many"
3) if there are multiple sheets copy all data in 1 sheet once above 2 are deleted
4) I want to update cell A2, C2, I2, M2 & N2 with Hostel, Direction,Name,Flight & Status respectively
5) Create a pivot table with all data (Col A-N & Row 2 to last) in a new sheet and call it Summary - Pivot
I can then manually select how the pivot will look
Currently i am going through all sheets manually and filtering data. Using excel 2007

I'm using this code to find values of "FEP MHS" or "LSD MHS" in column S and if column S containes either of these values it deletes the entire row from the spreadsheet. I need this to work on a spreadsheet that runs on a daily basis and each day it contains a different number of rows. I have used this code to successfully delete most rows that contain these values in Column S but for some reason it does not delete all the rows, typically leaving 6 - 7 rows that contain these values. I'm using Excel 2007 I need code that finds the last row used and deletes the entire row if these values are present.
Dim CelRSLHMHSD As Range, RngRSLHMHSD As Range, iRSLHMHSD As Long
Set RngRSLHMHSD = Columns("S").SpecialCells(xlConstants, xlTextValues)
For iRSLHMHSD = RngRSLHMHSD.Count To 1 Step -1
If RngRSLHMHSD(iRSLHMHSD).Value = "FEP MHS" _
Or RngRSLHMHSD(iRSLHMHSD).Value = "LSD MHS" _
Then RngRSLHMHSD(iRSLHMHSD).EntireRow.Delete
Next iRSLHMHSD

I have a public/shared Excel 2007 workbook on our network and someone colored an entire column yellow. When that happened, it increased the number of rows to over 655,000. I didn't know that was posible but they are there... The thing moves very slowly now and when I try to delete (45,000 lines at a time), I either get a error window telling me I don't have resources to perform the operation, or I do smaller chucks and after 30 minutes deleting lines, it will not save.
I would rather not have to recreate the whole workbook if I can delete the lines on this one page.

Macro for creating new excel work book based on Partner names.
I have a master file which contains 3 worksheets -
1 - Code Summary
2 - Labor
3 - Expense
On column "T" of code summary tab I have a list of Sales Partners. So I want a macro which will create a new workbook for every single Sales partner on Column "T" of code summary tab along with corresponding data from column A:T on code summary tab.
The macro should also take data from the other 2 tabs Labor and Expense for the respective Sales Partners. On Labor tab the partner info is on column "Y" and on Expense tab the partner info is on column "M". So the new file should be renamed after the Sales Partner and have 3 worksheets just like the master file.
Basically I have a master file which has data for all Sales Partners. I need individual files for each sales partner for sending to respective partners.

I have two workbooks I am using. Essentially I am copying values out of one workbook, opening a second workbook, manipulating data and pasting it. Everything is working great but one issue! The first workbook has named ranges in it that I don't want in the second workbook (just values). I don't want them because when I try this operation the second time it asks if I want to use the same name or choose a different name. For some reason it is still copying over all the named ranges (all 343 of them!). Is there a way to not allow it to do that or simply just delete the names before I close the second workbook?

I've created a macro that loads a listbox with the sheet names from another workbook. It works fine with Excel 2007-2010 but some reason fails with 2013. It doesn't crash, it just doesn't add items to the listbox nor doest it add the caption to Userform1.Caption. It does launch the form. Here is the code snippet:

Workbooks.Open Filename:=wbkpath, ReadOnly:=True
Set swbk = ActiveWorkbook
swbk.Activate
