I want the formula to count the different numbers in the second column based on the first column. The results should show, 972 equals 3, 214 equals 1, 765 equals 2.
I am trying to separate this out but it keeps putting this paragraph.
I have a spreadsheet with 6 months of data in one row. the dates are from A3 (Jan 1) to FY3 (Jun 30). The data is in range A4:FY4. The data is a "$" (without quotes). The $'s are entered randomly during the 6 month period. I need a formula to determine the days between the last occurrence and the next to last occurrence of the $. Example spreadsheet shows the $'s on Mar 28 and May 5 as the last two. The spreadsheet is attached. I am using Microsoft Office Excel 2010.
I have data arranged in a worksheet (see attachment) that has hours of work broken down by day. What I need is a formula that will find the number of times a record occurred in Column F that is greater than or equal to 12 hours each day. So for March 1st there would be 9 times. I can do that now with no problem using "=COUNTIF(F4:F14,">=12")" However, the real thing that I need is how many days of each month were there only 1 count (of 12 hours or more). So it needs to look at the range of data that goes from 3/1/13 to 3/31/13 and find the total number of days that had 1 count (of 12 hours or more) each day and return the number of days it found.
I have a simple pivot table that is types by state. I want to know how many types are in each state. In the attached image the answer for Alaska is 5, for Arizona 5, for Arkansas 1, etc. How do I get Excel to tell me that for each state?
I'm using Excel 2010. I have PowerPivot installed but really don't know how to use it yet.
I'm doing a study of when people are most productful in their day. I just need to count how many units a person made within say 4 hours of starting work.
Sheet 1 contains range B12:B353 with names of people. Sheet 2 range B12:B353 contains a formula to extract the names from Sheet 1 if range D12:D353 contains a certain value:
=IF(Sheet1!D12:D354="A",(Sheet1!B12:B353)," ")
At the bottom of each column in Sheet 2 I am trying to get a total count of populated cells (a running count of names actually visible). I have inserted formula:
=COUNTA(B12:B353)
Which should count the number of cells with text in them, right? But I believe it's somehow counting the formula as text because I inserted the value of "A" in Sheet 1 Column D for 3 names. It returned a number of 331 at the bottom of my column in Sheet 2. First off, a return of 331 doesn't make sense in any way (still scratching my head at this return. It should have returned a value of 3.
I'm using Excel 2010. One spreadsheet I'm using has 1048576 lines and is a XLSX file. The other file has 65536 lines and is also a XLSX file. When I try to do a VLOOKUP, I'm given an error stating "invalid reference. This file version cannot contain formulas that reference cells beyond 256 columns or 65536 lines.
If both are XLSX files how do I expand the amount of columns in the one spreadsheet with 65536 lines? I thought all XLSX files had a million lines.
I'm having trouble defining the time overlaps on continuous days for the varying results of the runs for my simulation.
For the following data set, without counting overlaps there are 18 total spare requirements, but if I take into account their overlaps in their duration there should be a total of 11 per day. For example in row 4 this event overlapped in the same day with the event of row 5 so both had only 2 overlaps as a result (So there is not possible to be 1 as an answer for overlap, there is only from 2 to "n" amount or 0).
But if an event overlaps with more than one in their duration the result would be their maximum overlap during this time frame.
So then I have for each event an Starting date, starting time, duration, ending date and ending duration. And for each day I would need the total amount of overlaps occurred for the duration of each event and from those I would take their maximum amount of overlaps occurred per day. To obtain their real requirement as shown on the file.
The manual procedure I'm using looks like this for the first day: (Graphical representation)
Event 1 occurs from 17:02 to 20:29 and only overlaps with Event 3, so it's 2
Event 2 occurs from 20:38 to 23:38, also only overlaps with Event 3, then its also a 2
For Event 3 in its whole duration only overlapped with Even 1 and Event 2, one at a time so its maximum overlaps where only 2.
And that's what I'm using so far to determine these amounts but since is a simulation, I would end up with several data from each run and this method would be too long. That's why I would need this template to paste data for each run (15 days) and obtain my results faster.
I have a spreadsheet of raw data organised in columns and rows. one of my columns is called SERVERNAME, and each row contains the data about an incident which is related to that server.
What I need to be able to do is to firstly calculate via a formula (cannot be a pivot table) the number of instances of SERVER X, and then I need to be able to rank the top 10 servers for which records have been logged.
As an example here is some raw data:
INCIDENT SERVERNAME LOCATION OS OWNER
0001 Server 1 Japan Windows 2008 KERLEJ
[Code] ........
Based on the above data I would like to have an Excel formula that searches through the records (Rows) and determined that there are the following number of instances of servers:
server 1 2 server 2 1 server 3 3
And then a further formula (again I cannot use pivot table) to calculate the ranking:
Server 3 3 - ranked first server 1 2 - ranked second server 2 1 -space ranked third
I know I can go about this using a pivot table, but I would rather not. However, if it really is the best solution, then I’ll go that route.

What I basically need it to do is count the number of times a school is listed in column D then rank the top ten.
How do I enter a formula in excel 2010 that will give the total amount of times each number is in this group. Example : how many times (total) the number 12 showed up , how many times the number 27 showed, and so on for each number that is in the entire group of numbers, from 1 to 80 .
Here is the page I will copy and paste into a workbook sheet from the internet that i want to evaluate the times each number was called.
Very new to all this , I am a bit aged and need not to learn excel A to Z, just need to know what correct statements /formulas have to be entered to do what i desire.
I am only interested in the total count of the small bold numbers 1 to 80, each single digit 1 to 9 and double digits 10 to 80 will be in their separate cells. The large bold three digit numbers and dates/times will have to be erased (manually) before the calculation takes place.
I would like to have the duplicate numbers in position one ( cell D9:D18), position two (cell E9:E18) and position three (cell F9:18) all counted and then ranked based upon date range in column A.
The number order of precendence is 0-9 with zero being the lowest.
Column (I9:I18) counts the duplicates, draws and no draws of digits 0-9. Column (J9:J18) converts results from column I9:18 into a percent.
I need to add a sort button at the bottom of position 1 (columns H & I 22), position 2 (columns L & M 22) and position 3 (columns P & Q 22)
When the sort button is selected it will sort the data by # of repeats, draws, and no draws as illustrated in (columns I, M & Q) or sort data by Position number from 0-9 as illustrated in (columns H) which will then show data of repeats and percentages out of rank order, because it is in order of number precedence.
Last but not least a graphic bar chart that shows the results ranked highest to lowest from when the sort button is selected with the number at the top of the bar colored black. Bar graph colors to be: top 3 red, middle 4 yellow and bottom 3 blue. This should show a vertical cascade effect.
I've been looking all over for the most basic of VBA codes to insert a timestamp in a single cell (B1) when cell A1 changes due to formula result change. All the answers I've found are for manual updates of A1.
A1 has the simple formula: =SUM(F1:F10000)/3. I would like cell B1 to insert a new timestamp when the results of this formula in A1 change. On a weekl basis, I will paste-value data into the whole F column, which will change the resultes in A1.
If this can't be done, or is too complicated (I don't really write VBA, only copy and paste basic code), is it possible to have a timestamp inserted into B1 based on the paste-value event into the F column?
I am using Excel 2010 .I have set up Data validation for a dropdown box so I can select from a list of items. In the old versions of Excel the actual drop down arrow used to appear in each cell. In the version I have, the drop down arrow only appears when you select the actual cell. When I did the validation I checked the " In-Cell Dropdown", but it still doesnt put the arrow in the cell. Is this functionality available in Excel 2010 ?
My second issue is a formula.
The last name is in a list of items and users have to select Yes or No to theitems on the list. I am wanting to create another spreadsheet that automatically populates based on their responses.
In short, I want to be able to set up a rule or formula that states if the answer in column A is "y" then I need the information in column B to be displayed.
The ultimate aim is to get a automatic sub set, (in another tab), of the orginal information based on users responses.
I have Excel 2010. I am creating a spreadsheet for server backups. I have always been told to take the current size of the disk and multiply it by 10% to figure out the backup size needed for the backup. I am trying to create a formula to do this. I have a server with 25GB. The formula i tried was
=a1*10%. A1 being 25gb. Excel does not like the GB in the cell also this is only giving me the difference. I need to know what size to allow for my backup on this server.
I'm trying to create a formula that states. If tank 1 maximum capacity is less than 500,000 and the difference in inventory is greater than the absolute value of 10% or 20,000 or if the tanks maximum capacity is between 500,000 and 1,000,000 and the difference in inventory is greater than the absolute value of 20% or 100,000 or if the maximum tank capacity is greater than 1,000,000 or the difference in inventory is greater than the absolute value of 30% or 300,000 then Y OR N.
I figured out the absolute value portion of the formula but I'm not really sure how to combine that with the tank maximum capacity piece.
I am using Excel 2010. I am extracting text and data info from a single cell and inserting the info into different cells. Let's say the following formula is entered into cell M28:
This tests cell J28 to see if the text string "IM" is present in that cell.
If it is, then the text "IM" plus the following eight characters become the result in cell M28.
If the text string "IM" is not present in cell J28, I want the contents of cell M28, that is the formula itself, to be deleted from cell M28. EG below:
=IF(MID(J28, FIND("IM", J28),2)="IM", MID(J28, FIND("IM", J28),10), function here to delete this formula from this cell) ( logical test ) ( value if true ) ( value if false )
I would like to create a function where I would be able to ask and answer 20 questions. When using If statement it only allows me to use up to 7 nests.
I have created an example below with all the statements I need using IF but of course this doesn't work so I would need so how to handle this particular issue with so many questions/answers in one. Even though the delta between 5-4 and 3-2 is same I want different answers. I'm using Excel 2010.
Excel 2010. When the result of the formula in Col. E is less than zero, I need to move the row to another sheet, and then delete the row.
I modified another poster's script as follows:
Private Sub Workbook_SheetChange(ByVal Sh As Object, ByVal Target As Range) ' Move rows with negative value in E to Flagged Items sheet Dim rng As Range ' Set Target Range Set rng = Target.Parent.Range("E2:E200")
[Code] ........
The script works perfectly if a negative value is manually entered into a cell in Col. E, but not when the result of the formula produces a negative number.
I can't find a way to make the Case Is < 0 act on the resultant value rather than the formula.
Is this possible in the script or is there another way to achieve the desired result?
