Excel 2010 :: Unlock Whole Workbook By Putting Password In A Cell
Jul 11, 2014
I'd like to be able to unlock the whole of a workbook by putting the password into a specific cell and then the whole thing locks again when it is saved. I have been able to find the coding to do this for a worksheet but I'd really like to be able to unlock the whole project.

I have a sheet that is password protected. I have this code attached to a command button. It will unlock the worksheet, autofilter it, print it, unfilter it, and password protect the sheet again. However it is protecting it without a password. I need to have it protected with the password so that someone will not be able to just go to tools to unprotect the sheet.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
ActiveSheet.Unprotect "rainforest"
Columns("O:O").Select
Selection.AutoFilter
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=1, Criteria1:=">0", Operator:=xlAnd
ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.PrintOut Copies:=1, Collate:=True
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=1
Selection.AutoFilter
ActiveSheet.Protect DrawingObjects:=True, Contents:=True, Scenarios:=True _
, AllowSorting:=True, AllowFiltering:=True
End Sub

I have a workbook whose worksheets I want to protect on open, and also want to unprotect by way of a module. The protect code is:
Code:
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Sheets("Cornealrings").Protect Password:="elohim"
Sheets("Ferrararings").Protect Password:="elohim"
Sheets("Kera Rings").Protect Password:="elohim"
Sheets("IS CALCULATOR").Protect Password:="elohim"
Sheets("IS Manager").Protect Password:="elohim"
End Sub
The unprotect code is:
Code:
Sub Unprotect()
Sheets("Cornealrings").Unprotect Password:="elohim"
Sheets("Ferrararings").Unprotect Password:="elohim"
Sheets("Kera Rings").Unprotect Password:="elohim"
Sheets("IS CALCULATOR").Unprotect Password:="elohim"
Sheets("IS Manager").Unprotect Password:="elohim"
End Sub
The code stops at the first line of the unprotect event, with the message that the password is not correct. If I try to manually unprotect, the password is accepted.

When I try to run the macro, an error comes up saying application-defined or object-defined error. The following code is the line in which I receive the error.
VB : tool.Worksheets("ALL").Cells(row1, "J").Formula = "='[TRB Database.xlsm]TRB Database'!$I$" & A

I have been really trying to get this sorted myself and I can get it to work with one exception. I can't get the sheet to lock with a password. It locks, but if I try to unlock it again, it does so without prompting me to enter a password.
Essentially I am wanting to unprotect two sheets, unlock the cells that were previously locked (so users couldn't enter data in them when the sheet is protected), then reapply the same password to protect the sheet, but now they will be able to enter data in the unlocked range of cells).
The second macro is to reverse the changes made in the first and 're-lock' the unlocked cells) (and again apply the same password to the sheet).
this is the code I have used.
Sub PART_YEAR()
Sheets("2012 Calculator 1 week").Select
ActiveSheet.Unprotect "taado"
Range("D20:D23").Select
Selection.Locked = False
Selection.FormulaHidden = False
Sheets("2012 Calculator 2 week").Select
[Code]...
I am assuming I have superfluous code in there, in addition to my mistake with the reapplication of the password.

Using Excel2010 in Windows7. I have a UserForm
1: TextBox for Input Username (txtUsernameIn)
2: TextBox for Input Password (txtPasswordIn)
3) Submit Button (cmdSubmit1)
I have a Worksheet
ColA: Username
ColB: Password
And this entire Range A:B, I have named "UserRegister"
I have code, attached to the cmdSubmit1 button on my UserForm. The purpose is to allow access to a veryhidden Worksheet "ADMIN".
The code 'works' if I enter in both the correct UserName and Password (ie: the code completes & Admin sheet opens up).
The code 'works' if I enter in the correct UserName and the wrong password (ie: code completes it's run, my msg pops up to say there is wrong input, unloads the form & sheet ADMIN stays veryhidden).
However, if I enter the wrong username (with either right or wrong password) the code breaks and I get a debug error. I know my code is obviously wrong/missing something etc - but I can't work it out! The line of code highlighted on the break, is between the *** below
VB:
Private Sub cmdSubmit1_Click()
Dim Username As String
Username = txtUserNameIn.Text
Dim password As String
password = txtPasswordIn.Text
[Code] ......

I have a 2010 excel workbook with several locked worksheet (to which I manage the PW). I and another staff member manage different section of the macro but the other staff member doesn't have access to the locked areas.
Is there a way I can encrypt the password within VBA so it's not visible to the other staff member?
Locking the VBAProject doesn't work as the other staff member has to be able to edit his VBA section.
Many staff run the macro (via a button) and don't need to access the Macro and don't have access to the protected sheets.
I understand excel isn't ideal with PW protection for people wanting to bypass the protection and this isn't an issue.

I used VBA codes to apply different passwords for different worksheets in a single excel workbook. They worked fine. Then i applied a password to the VBA code itself through the VBA project properties. Also worked.
But my problem is that, if any one enters a wrong password to open any of the worksheets, the VBA will open an error message window and when "end" option is clicked, the VBA code will open without any prompt for the password.Thus the entire purpose is defeated.

I cannot make this work in XL2010.
I am opening a second workbook in ReadOnly in the Workbook Open and Closing it in the Workbook BeforeClose.
I don't EVER want to save changes on either workbook.
I need to leave excel open as the macro created a 3rd workbook which the user will need.

Basically, I'm looking to populate the blank cells in the PartNumber column (Sample_List) by looking at the data in Column1, Column2, Column3 then going to the Master_List, matching up Column1, Column2, Column3. The PartNumber value in the row with the matching values would then be copied to the Sample_List.

I am attaching the Excel for your reference.

I used the button in Excel 2010 to record a macro that allows me to format a workbook font and stuff because i do that many times a day for several workbooks. However I want to be able to just push a button and have all open workbooks run the macro I recorded.
I am able to make a button- thats easy, but how do I get it to run for ANY workbook? My problem is that apparently it only runs the workbook that is named a certain way. should i post the code here?

In order to unfilter a workbook before saving, that is often left by the users with filters on, I use the following code:
[Code].....
The code works just perfect for a workbook that has a table in a normal range of cells.
If I insert a table (using Office 2010 and later option), the code simply doesn't work.

We have recently converted to Office 2010 from 2007 I have now got a name conflict with some macros on my templates
I have some code which will open up the affected templates delete the required modules & import the amended modules, this is working OK.
I now have to re assign the new macro to each button on all pages on all my templates., I started of by recording the actions to achieve this (see part of the code), but unfortunately the recorded code will not work, it runs but when I test the buttons I get the message that "this macro does not exist in this work book".
Code:
Sheets("page 2").Select
ActiveSheet.Shapes.Range(Array("Button 255")).Select
Selection.OnAction = "DIAM01"
ActiveSheet.Shapes.Range(Array("Button 1549")).Select
Selection.OnAction = "DIAM02"

I believe that someone showed me once that you could view the same workbook on two monitors with the vien arrange all mode, you could make changes on both screens and the changes would be saved to the same file similar to arranging two views. I cannot rememebr how to do this or even if it is possible.

I have a workbook with a tab for each day of the month. This workbook is placed in a shared file and used by various yards in different locations. A new yard beginning the process is refusing to use it because due to formulas we must lock the workbook (contains many formulas and a live clock macro to track trip time) and they cannot sort A-Z. The sheets are labeled 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and so on to 31. I know that you can write a Macro to allow sorting, but I cannot get it to work. the users CANNOT know the password due to hidden revenue etc. and formulas.
