Excel 2010 :: VBA Code That Handles Several Specific Parameters Or Wildcard Passed To Access
Jul 17, 2013
I would like to develop a user-friendly Excel 2010 spreadsheet that would allow the user to enter from 1 to 10 (i just picked this number at random just to have an upper limit) employee numbers in cells A1-A10 and "click" on the VBA Code button that would invoke an Access Query and in the process return all the applicable data gathered from the query back into the Excel Spreadsheet. Believe it or not, I can do all this mentioned so far. BUT what i cant do is my second option for the user which is allow them to pull ALL of the employees back into the spreadsheet using the same query.
In summary, using Excel as a frontend dashboard, I know how to get a specific number of employees' information from a query and I know how to get all employees' information from a query but I dont know how to get either/or. In other words, I could do this with two queries and two "VBA-Code" buttons but I would like to do it with one query and one button.
I am attempting to create a template that will utilize data from an Access table, and allow the user to select the parameters in the Excel file. The amount of records in this table is slowing down the Excel file, and I would like to lessen the amount of data that is imported based on the user selection.
The Access table will have three columns:
Part Number|Line|Catalog Code
I would like to import all three columns, but allow the user to select the records imported based on the catalog code.
The users do not have read or write access to the sql tables, so I run an Access query at the end of each day to create an Access table that they can access.
Is it possible to set parameters on a query but use a wildcard to return all instances? I have a query that I want to be able to set multiple parameters on but give the user the ability to select as many or as few parameters as they want to see. 2 of the parameters are number fields and 2 are text fields with no spaces.
I have an excel 2010 spreadsheet that lists all of our vendors and the amount we spent with them over the last year.
I want to know how many of them were local vendors.
I have a list of all the zip codes within a 100 mile radius (there are about 500 zip codes). I would like to write a macro or sort function that searches the entire vendor list and only reports back those vendors that are included in the zip codes I specify.
The columns are as follows:
A B C D E Vendor City StateZip CodeTotal AP Vendor 1TROY AL36082527.37 Vendor 2PHOENIXAZ85054100 Vendor 3TUCSONAZ8571416255
I want to keep the all the columns, I just want to eliminate all of the vendors that do not fall within the zip code criteria I set.
how to run some VBA code (written by someone else, unfortunately) only when clicking once in cell A1, and not run in any other cell. This is being run in Excel 2010. The code I would like to run in this manner is below, and currently will run when the user clicks on any cell in the worksheet it is applied.
[ Option Explicit_________________________________________ Private Sub Worksheet_BeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean) 'If IsDate(Target.Cells(1, 1).Value) Then Set DatePickerForm.Target = Target.Cells(1, 1) DatePickerForm.Show vbModal Cancel = True 'End If End Sub ]
I have a workbook that contains two sheets with two separate queries. On the first sheet I have two cells designated to accept the values for the parameters. The first sheet accepts the values and populates the table correctly. The second sheet doesn't seem to accept the values and just returns blank rows.
I am trying to lock cells after today's date has passed so that no one can make changes to it after today's date has lapsed. This is for protective reasons so that people do not remove their names from reserving something after using it. Now the code should disallow locking after cell input entry when today's date hasn't passed so that changes can still be made by the user. I am trying to determine the code to do this but I have no idea as to how to do it.
Here's a scenario: I reserve something for Aprill 11, 2009. I input my name. Since it's April 9th, 2009, I am still able to make changes up and until April 11, 2009. After this date, the cell is locked and no changes can be made, except for the administrator.
I've created some macros in Excel 2010 which I've added to the Quick Access Toolbar and want to show them using some of my own icons rather than the ones that show when you click the 'Browse' button. There is no option to navigate to any other location.
Is it possible to access icons other than the set provided?
We have a spreadsheet on a server location with macros. Different users will access the spreadsheet from one pc on different shifts. Is there a way to set the area as a Trust Location for all users on the PC or enable the macros in the spreadsheet to execute for all users without having to set up the spreadsheet trust location or macros for each user? I would like to have the spreadsheet accessable to any user on the PC without setting up individual access. The users can change for shift to shift.
I have a macro that seems to work okay for older versions of Excel - I use Office XP (2002) tell me if this will work for newer versions (2007 / 2010)?
KB1017 - Trust access to VBA project
Code: Function VBATrusted() As Boolean On Error Resume Next VBATrusted = (Application.VBE.VBProjects.Count) > 0 Exit Function End Function Private Sub Workbook_Open() If Not VBATrustedAccess() Then
[code]....
I was thinking that i should probably have
VBATrusted = -1
as the third line so that it is negative unless the tick is there. No way of checking older versions right now though.
I am attempting to run a MS Ecel macro that is stored on a MS Excel shared file in a MS Ecel target file (locally stored on my C drive) from a VBA module in Ms Access. That is, from a code i want to open the .xls file that houses the macro, and then open the .xls file that i want to run the file in, and then run the macro.
Here is my situation: the file that houses the macro has the workbook hidden and causes in error.
if i unhide the workbook i get a Run-Time Error 91...object variable or With block variable not set.
if i hide the workbook the vba coding can't find the macro...run time error 1004
once again, i currently have an excel file that houses macro whose workbook is hidden.
I have two procedures in two different access forms. First procedure executes fine. It ends up with creating a Table1 by importing the data successfully from the Excel file. But after that later when I call procedure 2, it throws the below error when it is trying to import the data in to Table2. I think the Excel "Test.xls" did not save properly and close in the Procedure 1. I could see some Excel thread running in the Task Manager. How can I handle this. Please advice. Your expertise help will be truly appreciated. I am absolutely new to this VB-Access code world.
Error: "'MySheet2$'is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not too long." ....
I need a formula to calculate how many months has passed irregardless how many days had passed. What I mean by that is if I have a starting date of 1/31/2010 and an end date of 2/1/28/2010, that should count as 1 month passed. I tried using the DATEDIF function, but that function is counting number of days, so if only 28 days had passed, that would not count as 1 month.
Sub RemoveCodeAndSave() 'Remove all code from ThisWorkbook code module ThisWorkbook.VBProject.VBComponents("ThisWorkbook").CodeModule.DeleteLines 1, _
[Code]....
I get the error "Run-time error 440: The specified dimension is not valid for the current chart type" why I am getting this. The macro does everything I want it to, except for throwing the error at the end.
I have previously used the following code to successfully pull out IE webpage source code for string manipulation.
Its a crude example to demonstrate the principle:
Public Declare Sub Sleep Lib "kernel32" (ByVal dwMilliseconds As Long) Public IE As Object Sub Sample() Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") IE.Visible = True
[Code] ......
However when I substitute in a Google websites address into the IE.Navigate command, the code runs to the "Source_Code = IE.document ...." line then flags up a Microsoft Visual Basic error. "Run-time error '438': Object doesn't support this property or method"
The webpage that I am trying to access is a confidential company site, so you won't be able to access it yourself, but starts with [URL] ......
The one thing that I have noticed about this website is the Privacy Report icon in the lower right status window (Picture of an eye with a restricted symbol in front). I don't know whether this is the cause of my problem, or purely an incidental observation.
Is there something peculiar with Google sites that means that the source code cannot be extracted in general, or is this an issue specific to my site ? Does the Privacy Report icon have any relevance, and if so how do I switch that off ?
I created a slick little excel sheet with the data coming in automatically via Access query. It has been working fine for months. Now all of the sudden there are a bunch of cells with missing data. The weird part is it's not as if whole columns are missing data, more like 90% missing. When I go to Access and run the query all cells are populated as the should be. There have been no changes to the query at all during this time.
I am using lesson 33 of Excel VBA and Macros with Mr Excel as my guideline. The coding is as follows:
Dim WBO As Workbook 'original workbook Dim WBN As Workbook 'individual data workbooks Dim WSL As Worksheet 'List of files worksheet Dim WSN As Worksheet
Set WBO = ThisWorkbook Set WSL = WBO.Worksheets("List") Set WSD = WBO.Worksheets("Data")
[Code] ......
I have indicated above with ( ) the beginning of my problem.
From the workbook with the list of workbooks to open, in each case I want to refer to a worksheet in each workbook named "Report" and grab all the rows with data exept heading (rows 1 & 2) and 9 columns.
How do I get WSN in the code above to include the worksheet named "Report" or do I need different coding. Using Windows 7 & Excel 2010.
I have a SUMIFS function written that reads where some of my budget is coming from. I track several different departments but am only responsible for some of the departments' budgets. So i need to exclude two of the departments when the SUMIFS is reading the other parameters from my list.
From the example i attached, how would i go about writing the formula in I3 to skip the Cost if it comes from Dep 2 and Dep 4?
The code as it stands allows me to push a button and it immediately picks up on a meeting category and date of meeting, then sends emails to those that are supposed to attend based on a date that is within 7 days from the current date of pressing that button. HOWEVER; it seems to still send the email when the date has passed...is there a line I can put in this code to make it so that every date that has already passed will be discounted from future emails?
I am having a problem with a sumproduct strand. I've written 4 different ways to no avail. What I'm trying to accomplish is to select specific the sum of various lines of data that fit within 3 parameters
I have an excel workbook where some sheets have a column called "Name" in Row 3. The column where "Name" appears shifts based upon other criteria so it's not set within 1 specific column.
The real data for the "Name" column starts in Row 5. Is it possible to create a macro that looks in Row 3 for "Name", then once it finds that column, it does a find and replace from Row 5 to the end of the data and replaces every space with a ^.
For example, if I have:
Row 3 Name Row 4 Row 5 John Smith Row 6 Jane Doe Row 7 John Doe Row 8 Jane Smith
I have tried and been searching but cannot find the answer. Is it possible to change the row height and column width for only a selected range in my spread sheet, for example, F13:I23? I am using Excel 2010.
