Excel 2013 :: Disable Ctrl+Mouse Wheel?

View 2 RepliesI'm using Excel 2007. When I try to scroll with the mouse wheel, it doesn't do anything. If I hold down the control key and scroll with the mouse, it zooms in and out. So that works fine, but I can't do the basic scrolling up and down the document with the mouse wheel. There is no "Tools, Options" menu in 2007 so I don't even know where to find this type of option. The options available from the Office button are completely different.

I'm talking about the little wheel in the middle of the two mouse buttons, the one that you can use to scroll up and down through documents etc.
Scroll with Wheel Mouse in ListBox?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to scroll down the list of entries in a combobox using the mouse wheel instead of clicking on the box to scroll up and down?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can i make my mouse wheel scroll an excel sheet sideways instead of up and down?
my sheets are only 5 rows big, but some 20 columns and its a pain to move around the sheet efficiently!
I have seen some code around that allows scrolling in listboxes using the mousewheel. I have also seen some code here on the forums about scrolling through a combobox embedded in a workbook. I have tried adapting both of these to suit a combobox on a userform but I cannot get either to work.
Here is the code that I used for the embedded combobox; I added it to the base code for the userform
I then added the following code to a standard module as stated in the forum post;
In the first section of the code there is a msgbox that never gets shown so I don't think code is recognizing the mouse wheel at all.
The second set of code that I used was set up to work with a listbox and it works perfectly with a listbox control. The problem is I cannot adapt it to suit a combobox and if I use a breakpoint to see what is happening Excel freezes.
The following code is added to the userforms code;
Then in a standard module I added the following code;
I added this section of the code;
I think this should only work on a Combobox but a Combobox does not appear to support the TopIndex value. Is there a way this can be setup to work with a userform combobox?
Sorry about the huge amount of code.
I am having problems with an Excel workbook I am working on. I have a sheet that has a number of controls added to the top of it. Two of these controls are listboxes. My problem is, if I am in the listbox navigating through it, and I accidently move the Mouse Wheel, Excel crashes and I get the usual, "Send Error Report" form.
I have seen that there are other people having this problem and that there are a number of solutions out there but my problem is a bit different. I have a few forms with listboxes on them, and while mouse wheel scrolling doesn't work, it certainly doesn't crash Excel. It only seems to happen when I have a control permanently added to the sheet. Is there any event handler for mouse wheel scrolls or anyway to disable them through VB?
I've just inherited a load of Excel files I need to continue using, but my predecessor has done something that disables the middle-click scroll ability.
I can still scroll up and down by turning the wheel, but I want to be able to click it and scroll in all directions at speed - I didn't realise how much I used this until I couldn't. Can't see anything in the VBA sheet properties, and they are all .xlsx files. Nothing leaps out of the settings either. If I create a new file or a file of mine within the same session, they work fine.
I am using Excel 2013. I have a spreadsheet that has a lot of very tall cells. When I use the scrollbar to scroll to certain parts of the spreadsheet it will automatically scroll up or down to the top of a cell. So if I want to view the middle of two tall cells that take up the whole screen it will automatically scroll up to the top of the highest cell that I'm currently viewing.
I just want to be able to scroll to where I want to scroll without Excel moving me up or down. I've tried to find answers on message boards but no luck.
Is there away to disable the Ctrl PageUp / PageDown function to stop users seeing worksheets in a workbook? I know I can use sheetveryhidden etc, but I am trying to keep the coding as simple as possible. I have found reference to this problem on a couple of occasions within the forums but no definitive answer.

How do I stop this from being available?
way, using VBA code, to disable/enable individual shortcut menu items that are are made available with a right mouse button click. The following code disables the right mouse button completely but I would like to disable only a couple of options like the ' Cut' option.
The code to disable is below and to re-enable I just change False to True.

i = 0
For Each cb In CommandBars
If cb.Type = msoBarTypePopup Then cb.Enabled = False

I was thinking of how the Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) macro can be used to paste values instead of formula when the user uses Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V. Instead of assigning a macro to a command button for user to activate.
Suppose I have a worksheet where the range ("D7:D56") is where I would want the user to paste his values in it.
I have to factor in the possibility that these values have formulas attached to them, and that the user is not tech-savvy enough to know about the "paste special --> values" functionality of excel, and chooses to use the Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V method instead.
What then appears are ####### which might alarm the user.
Neither would we want the user to press a button (which we can assign the xlpastevalues macro as an alternative) as that adds an extra step for the user. There is also a chance the user might not use the button, or overlooked it.
Is it possible to use the Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) macro, or sth similar, to paste values instead of formula when user uses Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V?
I am trying to create a scatterplot from some data I have. I attempt this by selecting multiple columns using Ctrl and clicking on the letters above. This results in it plotting only the first selected column on the Y axis with only 1 2 3... on the X axis.
When I however select multiple columns by clicking on a column and dragging to more columns it does plot as I would expect with the first column as X values and the rest Y values.
I know it is possible to create a graph and add data manually but this is way slower and I think that it should be able to be done differently.
I'm using excel 2010.
When I copy a cell with CTRL-C and paste elsewhere, a small clipboard pop-up appears to give paste options. The pop-up is the size of an average 'starter' cell. I find it a nuisance as it always covers a cell I might want to paste into, but I cannot see that cell anymore because of the pop-up. How can I get rid of the pop-up?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a group of Excel (2003) template files, each with a different name. When these files are opened they ask for certain information and save themselves as a unique name. Within these files are VBA routines and functions and, because these files basically do the same things, they have the same name. These routines exist in their own unique modules each with a different name. Unfortunately, in these files there are differences in the number of columns of information these routines act on so once they have been saved I need them to only act on their own columns only.
My problem is, when I have more than 1 of these files open in the same instance of Excel, I try to run a file using a control letter combination Ctrl-e and it sometimes runs the version of the macro in the wrong file. This leads to all kinds of strange thing happening. What I can do to force the correct macro to work in all instances?
I'm currently using Excel 2010. Before, when ctrl+v'ing a cell that wasn't a number (but was, for example, a function), I could immediately after press ctrl, bring up a paste menu, and press v to paste as a value.
So before, if I had a range of cells that were functions (say something simple like "=D3/E3" on F3 and dragged down), I could do the following to paste the range into another worksheet:
1. Ctrl+shift+down to select the entire range
2. Ctrl+C
3. Ctrl+V into a different worksheet (at which point everything shows up as either "#DIV/0!" or as the wrong number, depending on cells to the left)
4. Ctrl (brings up the paste menu)
5. V (selects "values")
6. The entire range is now pasted as values, and not as functions
Recently, however, clicking on "ctrl" after pasting brings up no paste menu. I haven't changed any settings. I will lovingly serenade the first (and second, and third) man (or woman) that figure out what settings I must change or what I must do differently.
Is it possible to create a piece of VBA that displays a comment box when a user rolls over a specific shape in Excel?

I have an Excel worksheet with one column being e-mail addresses. Other columns are Christian names, etc
Ideally can I create a full Mail merge with Outlook using whatever data I want. But probably just e-mail address and Christian name?
Otherwise be able to send one e-mail to all the e-mail addresses, without a major re-type.
I'm using Excel 2007 and I have a reasonable level of experience with VBA coding in normal / object modules, but I have no experience with class modules or events ... so I do not have a good command on what goes into a normal module vice a class module if I want to use mouse events to rotate a chart.
I am looking to rotate a chart ... Since I am not allowed to post a file, I will give the 3D array here:
1.0000
2.0000
3.0000
4.0000
[Code]...
I have placed into a normal module the following code (based on what I was able to pick up from MSDN):
Code:
Dim myClassModule As New EventClassModule
Sub InitializeChart()
Set myClassModule.myChartClass = Worksheets(1).ChartObjects(1).Chart
End Sub
And I have placed the following code into a class module named EventClassModule (also based on what I was able to pick up from MSDN):
Code:
Public WithEvents myChartClass As Chart
I want to rotate the chart by using click and drag, and, if possible, I'd also like to be able to zoom in and out via some method (say a mouse wheel event).
In the following link, a guy has done a beautiful job of enabling scatter plot rotation using scroll bars, but I'd like to be able to use mouse events instead:

In excel 2007, I have an embedded image on a sheet which I want to make it hidden by default. When someone hovers over a particular cell say cell B3, then image should be displayed below this cell (sort of hyperlinking) and when the cursor or activell cell is not in B3 it should be hidden again. What steps/technique/VBA code will make it happen ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a workbook with 8 sheets, one of which is the "main" sheet that holds all of my user data for logins at my job (I'm in IT). There are about 4300 users and 23 fields for each user, so there are 4300 rows in the sheet. Other sheets in the book are important, but not as much as this one.
The workbook has a total of over 1000 lines of VBA code right now, as I'm building a tool that finds users, adds users, modifies users, etc. (I know, Access would be smarter for this, but for some reason they want me to use an xls). Most of this code works with the sheet that I'm having the problem on.
This ONE sheet has seemed to disable the functionality of the scroll wheel, and I can't use Page Up or Page Down while in the sheet either. Also, if I select cells with VBA (Sheet2.Range(<range>).Select), it will select the cell, but it will not draw focus to that cell on screen (the sheet will not move at all). The other 7 sheets in the workbook have all regular functionality.
This just started happening a couple days ago, and I've been building the code for about a week, so I'm wondering if it's something in the code...?
Does anyone have any idea what might cause this?

My and a work college needed to combine our separate excel worksheets into a single document.
Office 2013 didn't have a function to "import sheet from file" so we used open office to import my .xlsx worksheets.
After we finished importing we exported the final workbook as .xls (so I could open it).
After opening the workbook on my pc (excel 2013) i notice some of the sheets no longer have column headers, but the row headings still exists. (No ABCD, only 1234)
Also I am unable to use features such as "Freeze Pane"
I suspect this was caused by importing and exporting through open office?
