Leith Ross kindly helped me with the below macro but for some odd reason, Excel simply does'nt like it and gives me the error message: "Compile Error: Object Required".
The code below is part of a bigger macro.
when you type True into a General formatted Excel cell Excel returns TRUE. This value cannot be formatted to a 1 (or a -1) by applying a different format. Thus, does Excel have a boolean data type? Or is it something else like a numeric value that for whatever reason is not receptive to format changes.

Function Timings(StartTime As Double, EndTime As Double, Times As Range, Calc As Long)
StartTime will refer to a cell in Column A that holds a date and time EndTime will refer to a cell in Column B that holds a date and time Times is the range of cells that hold times of the day I am testing against. The cells are within a range defined called Hours. Calc refers to different criteria that I am testing again. This is a number list between 1 to 5.
The function works well if the cell that StartTime or EndTime refer to cell values that are date/time. If the data is anything different, I get a #VALUE error such as if the cell contents is text. I tried to trap the error to see if the data inputted in the cell is not date/time and thus cannot be converted to a Double but it always throughs up #VALUE and the function seems as though it fails when it . Is there anyway to trap the error of wrong data type in the first the first few lines of code in the function?

Row 2 will return #VALUE becuase 30/02/2013 14:30 is an invalid date (30th Feb does not exist so Excel seems to pickup as text)
Row 3 will return #VALUE because it is text and cannot be converted to a double data type
I am trying to find a way of replacing a whole amount of data, over 1000 items, initially each cell contains this >>> 056001 Not Set, I am trying to remove 'Not Set', but the big problem I am facing is that Excel also removes the leading 0 or zeroes, when it finishes removing ... I tried several things, like changing the column to Text, and then paste the data from another column, because I read the Text format is preserved, nothing, as soon as the column is pasted it changes back to General, if I change it back to Text again, and then apply a Search and Replace, each cell is changed to 56001, which is not what I intended, the only way I have seen it works is if I manually remove the string, then it works and is changed into the text format and number as text, as I intended to
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a button on a userform that will generate certain text in a combo box. The combobox then goes to a worksheet. If I select a second button, I want the first information on the worksheet to clear and accept the new information from the next button.
NOTE: I have it as a combobox so I can either select it from the combobox or click the button. When I select the information from the combobox, it does clear out everything automatically.

What I think I am doing is clearing the cell, entering my text then going to the next text box, but when I click the second button (same code, text is "FAIL"), I then get "PASSFAIL" in cell B6.
I want it to clear out the previous entry and only use the new one, but it keeps all that I click even though I said to clear the contents.
The Code will not add the found values into the userform textboxe's.

Excel doesn't solve them before "re-accepting" (like going to formula bar and pressing enter). No editing of formula is needed at all (unless you count "enabling edit-mode" and accepting the empty edit as editing).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet that has values in the end column that read Addition, Deletion or No Change. I am trying to get the row cells in Column A to shade red, green or yellow depending on the value of the cells in Column I. I have tried the folllowing:

I chose the fill to be green for this but when I click OK nothing happens but I do not get any error messages.
I've created a worksheet that uses multiple print macros with defined margins. This works fine with the Epson printers I have, but a user has an HP Officejet Pro K550.
This printer has an option named "Minimize Margins". If this option is checked then you adjust the margins the way you want.
For some reason when this particular workbook is opened you have to manually go and check this option so that the margins can be manipulated. this is a problem b/c my macro prints several reports so it's impossible to set this option.
I then opened a different workbook and it accepted the default setting (option checked). For some reason the workbook I created doesn't.

I use a scanner that initiates a f2 command and trips my macro. I would like to use multiple scanners using a 8 port hub but I am having trouble with a scanner starting my macro and another scanner dumping data into my macro before the first one is finished. This is dropping scanned data into my macros. Is there a way to prevent the scan from accepting data until the macro has completed its cycle.

I want to use VBA to insert an Organisation Chart in Excel 2007 (ie if I did this manually it would be Insert, SmartArt, Hierarchy), but I cannot find anything on line that shows how to do this in Excel 2007. I know the code for Excel 2003, but that does not work in 2007.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a vba script with forms that use the calendar object no longer supported in Office 2010, so I found a suitable substitute and replaced every instance of the calendar I could find across all the forms with the new solution. All seemed to work great. But when I closed the application and then reopened it, it threw an error saying there was a missing library.
When I went to the references it showed me that the Calendar object was missing. I have scoured the application for every possible instance and eliminated it, but apparently there is one or more still out there lurking in the weeds somewhere. Is there someway to search for the control that is tripping this error?
I have this vba that copies the current sheet and renames it as well as copying the current sheet into a new workbook for emailing.
This has worked fine for the last 2 years or so but all of a sudden it doesn't want to work. The error message is that it "Can't find project or library."

I am receiving the following error:
-2147417848 automation error the object invoked has disconnected from its clients
Unfortunately, I can't tell where the error is occurring because everytime it happens excel crashes or at least stops responding. I tried waiting it out (about 20 minutes) but no luck. the only thing I can do is force the program to shut down through the task manager.
The program is designed to pull information from finviz.com (a financial site), filter the data. pull the next round of data and run the filters again. there are a total of 8 queries and i think it gets hung up during the 6th or 7th run through.
Stepping through the code does not seem practical since each query might pull as many as 300 rows of data that is evaluated in a for/next loop (thats a lot of F8s).
I have an excel application which works extremely well in one single instancec. It has a bunch of ActiveX control objects on the worksheet. Generally I call them by convention Sheet1.Cmd.show.
I have since experimented with having multiple instances of excel running on the machine. I start to notice something very strange. The first instance I open and run all the activeX buttons are all clickable. As soon as I open a second instance of an excel program all the activeX buttons on the worksheet are not even clickable. They are enabled by my program, but not clickable as if they were not there at all.
I also try open a normal excel workbook then followed by my excel program in a second instance. Even though the first excel file does not utilize any activeX objects all my buttons on the subsequent instance are not clickable.
The weird thing is all my activeX control objects on a userforms are still clickable and call to all my planned events in my program. It is just all the activeX controls on my worksheet that do not have any reaction at all.
I always think when one opens a new instance it will be totally indpendent and would even occupy another CPU if my machine has more in it. If they are truly independent then I am at a loss to understand why my activeX controls would fail to work at all.
I have a simple macro that cycles through the sheets in a workbook, and if the sheet's codename matches one of a defined list, some of its data is added to a summary sheet.
The macro works exactly as intended, but a strange thing happened yesterday: some data was missing from the summary sheet because one of the sheets was being ignored. This sheet is named 'MCP' on its tab, and has codename Sheet8.
Here's the strange part: on stepping through the code, cycling the sheets, I noticed that the sheet icon, name and codename had disappeared from the Microsoft Excel Objects folder in the Project Explorer. When the loop got to the sheet in question

I've changed the code so that the sheet name is inspected in the event that the codename is blank, which should guard against the issue provided sheets are not deleted/renamed.

My doubt it's at the final of the code when the condition If IE.Document.URL Like constantsValues.urlLoginData Then is true, it enter into a class an introduce the user and password from a login page AND then the page is REDIRECTED to another page SO when it goes out the IF CONDITION, the values that I had at the beginning in the IE Object are now DIFERENT because I'm now in a new page.
So that's why I put Application.Wait for 30 seconds, and then try to refresh the values of the IE object and get the new ones, but it always get the first values (the values of the login page :S) NO the new ones :S
How can I update the IE object to get the values of the actual page?

It seems to be cause by code running on one sheet of my workbook, but I'm not really sure about that. I'm still a bit of a novice at VBA.

I have a text box within a chart tab which is populated with text values from a worksheet within the workbook. That part works fine however i want to be able to achieve the following example:
Current Text: Component Name - Notes
if there are notes against the component name i want the name to remain in black and the notes to change to blue
