Sep 7, 2010I am using Excel 2010. I am using a shared workbook that was originally created in Excel 2003. This workbook has a command button that is supposed to be clicked to open a userform. However, I cannot even click on the button when opening the shared form in Excel 2010. When the form is not shared, the button works fine.
I have no problems with the button when opening the shared form in 2003 or 2007.
Is there anything I can do to make the command button work while the form is shared and while using Excel 2010?

I am new to VBA programming so i might be making a obvious mistake. I am trying to create a macro that will insert rows depending on a cell value. I also need this to be executed from a command button rather then to occur immediately after the cell value is entered. So as a example
Lets say
Cell A2 has a value 20
Cell A3 has a value 3
Cell A4 has a value 5
when this data is entered and then a Command button poressed there should be
20 rows beneath cell A2
3 rows beneath cell A3
5 rows beneath cell A4

Oct 30, 2009I want to insert a command button and assign a macro, I have the developers toolbar available with the controls section and on all other spreadsheets i can then select insert and choose the required button, however on the particular workbook i want to use the insert button is greyed out and not available.
i already use macros in this workbook and they work fine from keyboard shortcuts but i would like to make one of them run from a command button
Is there a simple setting somewhere which i may have turned off inadvertently previously or could the problem have anything to do with the macros themselves?

Sep 24, 2008Using excel 2003. Cannot insert command button on a spreadsheet we have. Almost all icons in the control toolbox are unavailable when Im on this specific spreadsheet. Any new documents I open work fine. Is there some kind of protected spreadsheet that wouldnt allow for a button, picture, textbox label to be inserted???
I didnt make the original sheet but am just editing and improving it.
I would really appreciate any advice you could give, I have attempted to attach a jpg showing the greyed out icons in my controltool box

May 21, 2013I have Excel and Outlook 2010 64-bit. I'm trying to develop HTML e-mails that are a mix of text drawn from cells on one sheet and picture objects on another. I have no problem with the HTML body text, but I cannot figure out how to reference and place the Shape objects. I am using:

Jun 22, 2012I have a vba script with forms that use the calendar object no longer supported in Office 2010, so I found a suitable substitute and replaced every instance of the calendar I could find across all the forms with the new solution. All seemed to work great. But when I closed the application and then reopened it, it threw an error saying there was a missing library.
When I went to the references it showed me that the Calendar object was missing. I have scoured the application for every possible instance and eliminated it, but apparently there is one or more still out there lurking in the weeds somewhere. Is there someway to search for the control that is tripping this error?

I open the control toolbox, select command button and place it on the worksheet. with the button selected and in design mode I click on the hyperlink button on the toolbar and allocate the hypelink address. Click on the button and it works fine untill I exit design mode then the button stops working.

I have a macro that copies this hidden row, inserts it at another point on the spreadsheet and unhides it. It works great in excel 2007, but the button on the hidden row disappears when I close the sheet and re-open it.

Excel 2007 :: Form Command Button Label Length
Aug 2, 2013We just upgraded to Excel 2007 from Excel 2000 and have run into a challenge relating to labeling a form command button. It appears that the length of text for a command button label has been shortened to 31 characters when setting the name using VBA. No such limitation shows up when I manually create such a button.
Following is the code that used to work to create the button and label in VBA (Excel 2000):

ActiveSheet.Buttons.Add(2.25, 13.5, 443.25, 17.25).Select
Selection.OnAction = "PatientSelectedButton"
Selection.Name = "CheckFormButton"

If I change the string I want to use for the label to 32 characters, or less, this code works (Excel 2007).

I have a network folder set up and it saves the file with the name that I have programed in the macro. I would like to have the file name set up to be what is in cell C3 then a space and the specific words.
For example, if C3 contains "123456" I want the file to be named "123456_Warranty Calculator"
I will end up using this in several worksheets which will have a different name as part of the file name (based on the worksheet name).
I would also like to have the last part of the file name be the worksheet name. ie, "Warranty Refund", "PDR Refune", etc.
I will have several users that will be using the workbook and possible saving at the same time and want each person to be able to find the one they saved instead of it being overwritten.

Feb 6, 2014I have a workbook with two worksheets, "Main" and "Control".
Both of them are with hidden tabs (unchecked "show sheet tabs").
On worksheet "Main" I have command button which opens worksheet "Control".
The assigned makro is: Sheets("Control").Select
The problem is: when I open "Control" and close after that the workbook, the next time when I open the workbook "Control" pops-up instead of "Main" even though I do not save it.
1. I need macro on "Main" which will allow me to open "Control".
2. Regardless I "Save" or "Don't Save" "Control" when selected and workbook is closed, to open the workbook always displaying worksheet "Main".
I use Excel 2007 (at home) & 2010 (at office).

Excel 2010 :: Insert Username Without VBA?
Apr 10, 2014I'm keen to add a field to a spreadsheet that populates a cell with the username of the last person who edited the file, as in the system or logon name, e.g. first.lastname syntax.
I would however like to keep this sheet as an .xlsx and not have it as an .xlsm. I have the code to use VBA, but is there way to grab the username without VBA to keep the .xlsx format?
I'm using Excel 2010.

Feb 3, 2010How can I return name of a command button on click? I want to create some sort buttons on a sheet I will use regularly to speed things up. I thought if I could call each sort button by the column letter the button sits in I can use this in a single sub for all buttons
e.g the button sitting in column A is called "A". when i click the button, it returns it's name to a variable which I can then use to sort column A. I know I could create a seperate routine for each button but I was just trying to think of something neater.
