Find Every Occurrence Of Duplicated Entries

Feb 22, 2007

I've been working on my original problem and have gotten a little closer to the results I'm looking for but not quite there. Basically, I'm now running into a problem of only finding the 1st occurence in a range of cells when I want to find every occurrence and show the result. Also, the range of cells to look for in my argument has 2 criteria, the start date and the end date. Can anyone tell me if there's a way to search through a range of cells and return every instance of that cell even if it's duplicated?

I've also attached my project to better understand what I'm trying to accomplish which is the use of a Gantt Chart as an employee scheduler as opposed to a task (or project) scheduler.

How To Compare Values Of Duplicated Entries

Dec 18, 2013

I manage messaging server farm that keeps mailboxes and their replicas on different servers for resilience. I need a way to check the replication status. I try to do it by comparing their sizes. I got all mailboxes and replicas incl their sizes imported into excel (2010) and I need a way to compare them.

Like this:
name
size

John Smith
10

Mary Westwood
20

[Code] ......

My idea was to find matching pair (two records of John Smith) and compare size. If the size differs more than specific value (5% or 2MB for example) the result is true/value/colour by conditional formatting etc.

Assign Duplicated List Entries Same Number

How To Find Duplicated String Before A Character That Contains Specific Word

May 16, 2014

In column A, I have the following lines:

2014-05-15 02:08:43 @Centre INFO - CHANGE WORLD (Original World to Destination World)
2014-05-15 02:31:37 @Centre INFO - CHANGE WORLD (Original World to Destination World)
2014-05-15 02:37:19 @Centre INFO - CHANGE WORLD (Original World to Destination World)
2014-05-15 02:37:20 @Centre INFO - CHANGE WORLD (Original World to Destination World)
2014-05-15 03:07:19 @Centre INFO - CHANGE WORLD (Original World to Destination World)
2014-05-15 15:01:37 @Centre INFO - CHANGE WORLD (Original World to Destination World)
2014-05-15 15:04:46 @Centre INFO - CHANGE WORLD (Original World to Destination World)

I would like to use conditional formatting to highlight cells which have the same first 16 characters (yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm) before the "@" AND that contains the words "CHANGE WORLD". Therefore, I'm looking for a formula I could include in the conditional formatting so I can easily find the "CHANGE WORLD" that occurred at the same time (minus the seconds, they may vary slightly).

Conditional Formating IF, Match, Index And Vlookup To Find Several Duplicated Value

Apr 11, 2009

This had been hunting me for weeks and I still could not come over it after weeks of study the conditional formating IF, match, index, Vlookup, etc to find several duplicated value, e.g Column B = Name 1 & Row B = Time and so on, where as Name will have data of Name 1 duplicated in different time, while row B, "Time"would change to a different Name and maybe it would go back to Name one.

My problem was dont know which formula I can use in a different sheet to bring back the data to Name 1 did Task A at Time A, while Name 1 did Task B at Time K, etc. If this is not Name 1, then Name B replace above.

Find Second Occurrence Or Third Or Fourth

Jul 13, 2013

I am trying to find an in-cell formula to find a cell with a specific value and return the value in column A of the same row. Typically this is handled by Lookup or VLookup or HLookup. However, these only find the first occurrence of the value, I even know how to find the last occurrence, but what about in between? In my spreadsheet I have reoccurring values that I need the value in column A of the same row, but I need more than just the first or last but every instance in between. How to do this?

FIND LAST Occurrence Of String

Nov 12, 2013

I understand that the function FIND(find_text, within_text, start_num) will find the first occurrence of a stated string. And by adjusting the start_num, you can skip a set number of characters before the search begins.

But, is there a way to find the Last occurrence of said string? In my case the find_text string may occur multiple times in the variable length within_text cell to be searched.

Sample: Find the last occurrence of MDU

Code:
Sample string1 - ABDJ FFU MDU WWW AEH JJF MDU JJI LLK OOI HAHA QWAS
Sample string2 - HFUR MDU HDS IGH RJR KDHF LLDE MDU KKJ MDU GGG

In the above 2 sample strings the output of the Find() function needs to be 26 & 40. Having a cell formula would be desirable, but if it can only be done by VBA that is acceptable, also.

Count Occurrence Of Find

In one column, i get the ID. In the next column of the same row i get the status. My question is to find the number of occurrence of a specific ID with a specific status on another sheet. Attached worksheet sheet "count" has the source with ID at column C and status at column D. My expected result is in another sheet "expected result". I think a macro is needed, but i can't really figured out the way to do this counting.

Find Next Occurrence Of Carriage Return

Find Text, Go To Found Cell & Show Message If More Than 1 Occurrence

Oct 1, 2008

I have a file that the user selects and when they enter a value (in this case, a job title) into the input box, my macro looks for the value in that file. If the value is there, a msgbox pops up that lets the user know that the value was found and it then goes to that cell, displaying in the next msgbox the cell address of where the value was found. I already have the code down for this part of the macro.

My problem is what happens if the file has the same value more than once. Ideally, I'd like to display a message box that returns the addresses of both cells with the same value and then prompts the user to select one of these values as the value they are looking for. I am not sure if a msgbox or a msgbox and then an input box are most appropriate for this situation. Once the user does this, the macro continues. The rest of my macro is built on the cell where this value is, so it is crucial that I make sure there is at least one value selected. Any help is much appreciated. I have included a sample worksheet of what this situation might look like.

Here is the code I presently have for this part of my macro.

Sub GetOpenFileName()
strFind = InputBox("Please enter the job title you wish to search for:", "Search for job title in this file")

If strFind = vbNullString Then Exit Sub

With Sheets(strSheetsMainCompProfile)
If WorksheetFunction. CountIf(Range(Cells(1, 1), Cells(100, 100)), "*" & strFind & "*") = 0 Then
MsgBox strFind & " cannot be found on this sheet"

Calculate Only Last Occurrence Or Occurrence Before Specified Number

Dec 24, 2013

I'm getting an export from a CDR. This export contains the date and times people log on and off from a queue. For logging in they dial 511, for logging out they dial 512. They get a voice prompt and type their password. I need to know how much time they daily spend in this queue

At first this looks pretty easy. I just make a sum of all the times they called to 511, then a sum of all time they called to 512 and finally I substract those values and I end up with the correct time spend in the queue.

The problem comes when they call multiple times to 512 without actually logging off. For example, they type the wrong password or simply hang up.

Result is this in the CDR

FROM TO DATE TIME
101 511 23/12 08:34
101 512 23/12 11:58
101 511 23/12 12:34
101 512 23/12 14:45
101 512 23/12 14:47
101 512 23/12 15:00

The actual time spend in the queue is 5 hours and 50 minutes. But Excel calculates this as 35 hours and 22 minutes, because it counts the 512 values no matter what.

How can I make sure that Excel only calculates the values of they are either the last value in the row OR if they are preceded by 511?

Find Ten Latest Entries

Mar 27, 2009

I have a sheet (attached, Excel 2003) that I need an assist on. What I want to do is search the 'All Games' worksheet for the ten latest games a specific player has played.

That by its self might not be so hard, but I want to take those 10 rows (once identified) and take the sum of column G and divide by the sum of column F for those rows only.

I already have a concatenate cell in the 'All Games' sheet for each row that I use to as a link of sorts to get data from column F and G onto the 'Spring 2009' sheet. The way I have the concatenate set up, I can manually sort by it and get the 'latest 10' values I need, but I need to get it all into a formula to place on the 'Spring 2009' sheet without the manual sort.

Find New And Existing Entries

Feb 12, 2007

I have a list of new payments received (sheet 2) along with their agreement numbers which I want to match to the list I had last month (sheet 1) to see which agreements are still paying, which have stopped and if there are any new ones.

The problem is that the the list of new payments received shows the agreement numbers with random prefixes and suffixes so my lookup returns #N/A

Sheet 1 - 24020130
Sheet 2 = 24020130FLE

My basic thinking (and I mean basic) is to do an edit/replace on sheet 2 entries and replace the FLE's with with nothing thus removing them completely then running the lookup but that doesn't tell me which are new payments received.

Then I could make sheet 1 text blue, sheet 2 text red, combine them, re-sort and manually go through the list but I'm hoping there's a sexy formula just waiting to be unleashed.

What i'm looking for is a way that i can highligh any rows that a duplicated in each worksheet. I can do it in each worksheet using conditional formatting with something like = COUNTIF($A8:$A$20,A8)>1. but don't know how to check that is not on any other worksheet. A B C D

Find And Remove Identical Entries In A List

Feb 13, 2007

I regularly have to add a few new lines to what is in fact a very simple data base I've had running for a long time in Excel. About 1200 lines now, one line per person. I add a dozen or so lines (i.e. people) at a time in a different colour.
When I re-sort the whole thing I run my eye down the list to spot partial double (i.e. duplicate) entries (the new ones in their own colour helps). Then I delete the double entries one by one. Pretty stoooopid, in'it?

How can I do this better, faster and more accurately with Excel to find just two duplicated data ( NAME and ID NUMBER) in a person's line (there are 15 columns altogether)? Or: Where and what can I search for (I've just spent nearly an hour trying to find an answer by myself, but don't really know what to search for)?

Find And Mark The Higher Value In Series Of Duplicate Entries

I find the duplicate entries by using the excel 2007 conditional formating and then sort by color to only show the duplicate entries. There are often hundreds of accounts that are duplicates. Sometimes there are more than 2 identical account duplicates (could be 3,4 or more). In each entry there is a number representing the rating of said account. These numbers differ within the duplicates. Example............

I am trying to find a formula that will choose a "winner" and enter a "W" based on the highest rating within the duplicate entries and then ideally assign an "L" to the loser duplicate account(s). Sometimes there is no rating, other times the rating could be the same in which case any account (does not matter) can be assigned a "W" and the others an "L"
