What Im trying to do is find a certain word in a string then return the number associated with that word
I would like to have a formula find a specific word in column L and return the sum from column E for the same fund from column C.
I tried using =SUMIF(L:L,"*annual*",E:E) but that gives me the sum of annual for the entire column. I need to be able to specify the fund.
word "annual" also appears in "semi annual" so I need to be able to separate the two.
I am having trouble getting my IF statement to test if the cell contains the text "sale" return "X" if not "Y". I need it to search through the text string in that cell and find a certain word, and if it finds that word, retrn a value. I am really having difficulty with is what symbol or function do I use for the logical test? (i.e. =, <>, MATCH, INDEX?)

The reason for this, on this particular occasion there is only one line containing 'new' so the code has nothing to loop....

Also might be worth mentioning the word New could ft in amongst other data in the particular cell.
Looking to build a simple find and replace with an added condition that it must match the whole word since some of my data appears as below:

I have codes (of three, four, or five digits) in Column A,names in column B, and names in column G.
The names in Column B and Column G are the same ones, but not in the same order, and they do not repeat exactly the same (e.g. I can have "Peter" in A10 and "Peter Jr." in A62, but not "Peter" and "Peter" again.
Each code belongs only to one name and never appears twice.

I have a sheet called "Words Ending In"
In ColA From A 3 downwards I have a large list of keyword phrases.
I am looking for a macro where I click on a assigned macro button and a pop up box appears saying
" Find words Ending With"
In the space provided I insert a word.
So, for example I insert the word "rent".
The macro then looks at all the data in ColA (From A 3 downwards) and searches for all keyword phrases ending with the word "rent".
If it could return All Phrases in ColC (From C3 downwards).
If it can't find any, then if a pop up box can appear saying something like "No Data Found"
That's it really.
If it could have a pop up box at the end saying
"Total Phrases Scanned: 1234"
" Total Phrases Found Ending With "In"
"Time Elapsed (sec.): 12.12353
I am having a hard time creating a code that would search the exact string in a cell. See sample scenario below.
1. I have a string "hello" to be searched.
2. I will search the whole string in each cell in a previously declared range.
3. If in a cell i found "kdhlsk hellodsiewjls", although "hello" string is there,
the code should still return 0.
4. But if in a cell, i found "kjdsfel ljsdlkue hello luoeww", then the code should return 1.
I have already created a code, but it will always return 1 in step#3.
In Column A4 I have the word Date and in Columns A5 to A844 are different dates
In Column B4 I have the word Destination and in Columns B5 to B844 are different Destinations
In Column C4 I have the word Time and in Columns C5 to C844 are different times.
How can I find out how many times the word Incoming is in Column B.
How many of the dates in Column A are weekend dates.
How many times in Column C was after 9:00pm but before 6:00am.

I would like to use conditional formatting to highlight cells which have the same first 16 characters (yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm) before the "@" AND that contains the words "CHANGE WORLD". Therefore, I'm looking for a formula I could include in the conditional formatting so I can easily find the "CHANGE WORLD" that occurred at the same time (minus the seconds, they may vary slightly).
In cell A1, I have three possible text strings: (1) "change/s: changed the color green to red", (2) "change/s: changed the color from green to red, changed the size from big to small", or (3) "changed the color from red to green".
I need a formula that will look at a text string, and if there is a comma in the string, it finds the word "change/s" and substitutes it with "changes", if it finds no comma, it substitutes the word "change/s" to "change", and if the word "change/s" is not in the text string at all, it leaves that text string unchanged.
I'm looking to simply delete certain words that are in cells, without having to delete rows, columns or the entire cell. I can use 'find and replace' and replace the particular word with a space, but I really want to delete the word. I'm using both Excel 2003 and 2000.
