Find And Replace Different Values In A Range Of Cells
May 8, 2008
I would like to be able to replace all cell values in a range of 20c by 20r (i.e. 400 cells). In all cases the condition would be the same (find all cells with a value greater than than zero), but then replace with different values.
e.g. Cells with value >0 in range CX119:DQ138 replace with "NT", then cells with value of >0 in range DR119:EK138 replace with "NU"
I thought you could do it with find and replace by just selecting that range of cells but can't see how to set the conditional >0 bit.
I have Excel 2013. I would like to use the code below but I need it to let me select the range instead of specifying it in the code, then pop up a form into which I can fill in what I want it to search and what I need it replaced with.
So I have a list of organizations in Column A, with multiple names (anywhere from 0 to 50 names) for each org. in Column B.
Org Names Company A Brown, Jones, Smith, West
[Code]...
I want to do a find and replace for all of Column B, where all the names are replaced with their respective color values. If possible, I'd like this to all happen with the individual cells (so for example, B3 might go from "Brown, Jones, Smith" to "Red, Red, Blue").
If that's not possible, I could divide all the names into individual cells and then find and replace.
I am looking to Find and Replace (via ctr-F) but I need to replace it only within a range of selected cells. Each time I try to do this it replaces everything even though I have tried selecting each cell and replacing only that. Is there a way to select a certain amount of cells and replace?
I am trying to replace a range of cells with certain values but I can not figure it out. I'm almost there I think but don't know how to get the varying values I'm looking for. So I have a column (AJ in this instance) that has a bunch of "xx" values at different spots within the column. I want to replace those xx values with numbers 01 through 36. What I have below gets me just about there but it replaces every xx value with 01. How do I get it to go 01 on the first one, 02 on the second one, etc?
/code Dim cell As Range For Each cell In Range("AJ1", Cells(Rows.Count, "AJ").End(xlUp)) If cell.Value = "xx" Then _ cell.Value = "01" Next cell /code
This problem has come up fairly frequently lately, and I'm not sure how to fix it, or if this is by design...but in Excel 2003 I can't seem to do a "Find and Replace" based on the value of a cell. I can do a find, based on cell value, but the moment I change to the replace tab, the "values" and "comments" are missing from the "look in" dropdown.
I've only noticed this when I'm trying to replace on a filtered list, so I'm not sure if that is part of the issue.
Perhaps an alternative way of arriving at the same goal. Basically I have a worksheet with a number of filtered columns. They are filtered just right, using custom filtering, and so I do not want to undo the filters. In some columns I have formulas that are returning #VALUE! errors. I'd like to replace all of these cells with NA.
I'm working on a project for my company. We make plastic tanks and for quality control we want to start recording the thickness of the tanks in different areas/zones of each tank.
Attached to this message is an Excel sheet that I've been working on. From "Sheet 1", it records inputted thicknesses into WorkSheet "1098". On the top of "1098", it shows all of the recordings, and just below that are the "10 Most Recent Entries".
Right below the "10 Most Recent Entries", there are formulas to calculate the Min and Max Values. Whenever a new entry is recorded, the selected cells for the Min and Max formulas change. Is there a way to force the cells to always stay the same?
I've got a piece of code I'm stuck on. Basically, I have a range of data and most cells are empty. However, I want to replace all the nonblank cells with an X. I can't quite figure out how to have the code replace something non-specific...
I am copying fomulas from one row to the next. Then I am using the Find and Replace tool to replace some key text. This technique has worked 65 times. Now when I try to Replace All a box comes up asking me to Update Values for the text im replacing. Why is this happening?
I’ve created a form, from which I want to search and replace information into several sheets. Ex: When I select the button ‘find record’ after entering a name, I want it to search through consecutive sheets to find the name and populate all information associated with that name into the form. From there, I would like to be able to edit that particular record’s information in my form and then select another button on my form ‘update record’ to have the information automatically replaced back into wherever it finds that record’s name in the sheets.
I have a simple problem I am trying to find a set a values on a column and what to replace once found with the first 5 most left characters. Example:
in column A I can have text and numbers; the numbers that I want to find are in the following format xy:zw / xy:zw on each case the values can be from 0 to 9 so this is tons of posible combinations, I been trying to use **:** ? **:** but I don't get none. This is what I am doing
Set target = Sheets("Sheet1"). Range("A1:A9000") For Each cell In target If cell.Value = "**:** ? **:**" Then cell.Value = "00.00" Next cell
A example would be 02:47 / 03:15 the next row could have 03:15 / 04:09 and so on however I could have text in some rows. In reality I would like to find and replace the cell.value with the Left 5 characters if the cell contains ANY value maching that format. Text in that column will never have that format combination
How to find and replace a range of values. I've looked online, and searched the forum with no success.
I have a list of cells in a column labled "Check #1", "Check #2", "Check #3" ect. I'm trying to build a Macro that would replace any value from "Check #1" to "Check #50,000" with "Outgoing Check". I know this can be done manually with relative ease, but it will need to be done very very very often, so I'd like to automatic it as much as possible.
How to put the steps into a Macro or Formula that could be re-produced with ease.
I have one sheet in my workbook called 'mapping' which has a list of codes on it, the length of which will vary on a periodic basis.
I have another fairly large sheet on the workbook called 'data' (around 2000 rows) that will also vary in size. I want to do a search on the data tab for each code that is contained on column 4 of the mapping tab and if the code is found, enters the corresponding value from column 1 of the mapping tab to the cell 6 columns to the left of where the code was found on the data tab (cols H and B in this case).
The issue I have is the codes maybe contained more than once on the data tab so I need the find/replace command to search the whole of the data tab and perform the task each time.
Is there a way to find and replace the values from a closed workbooks of a folder. say i have some 15 files in a folder c:/test
I want to find all "Ltd" and replaceAll with Limited and find all "Co" and replaceAll with "Company" etc (some 20 different values to be found and to be replaced) if this is in a single file i can easily record a macro to this job, i am stuck for doing 15 files at one shot.
say that i have alist of data in "A2:A", which are a string file (text) and i want to rename each data to a certain name that defined in range "B1:B2" (String file too).
For Example: for range C2 = S16e C3 = 16/E C4 = 18W C5 = Site18 w
& The target name is to be: B1=16E B2=18W
For case above, i need to replace C2&C3 in to 16E, while C4&C5 to be 18W.
I am trying to find a way to automatically find and replace 2 letter symbols in a specific column into the words they represent. There are many symbols and rather than do a find and replace for each symbol, I would like to write a macro that would do them all at once.
I have an excel workbook with 60 sheets (each contain data in the same categories and in the same column locations, just different information on each sheet). What would the VBA code look like if I wanted to manually enter the find and replace values and perform the function (find and replace) across multiple sheets in the workbook?
I have a excel which contains 5 columns in which 5th column data cells has to be replaced with another set of data which have relationship with other 4 columns data.
On the worksheet, I need to find wherever the cell value begins '2 X 4 ...' in column L, and then replace the cell value in the same row, in column K, with '113010'. In my attempts, my code just changes the first occurrence, not all occurrences.
I want to use VBA to do this.
Here's my code so far:
Sub Update_Product_IDs()
Application. ScreenUpdating = False Dim i As Integer, iCount As Integer Dim numberOfPMDs As Integer Dim PMD_Name As Integer Dim worksheetName As String Dim worksheets_in_file As Integer worksheets_in_file = Worksheets.Count worksheetName = Worksheets(2).Name numberOfPMDs = worksheets_in_file - 1
I have an Excel file with multiple sheets and I want to find and replace matching cell data on the same row across all of the sheets. For example, I have two columns, Column A and Column C and 10 sheets. I want to only replace the content in Column A if text matches both Column A and Column C on the same row. So, I want to be able to search for the following data across all sheets:
Column A = "car" Column C = "yellow"
If both "car" and "yellow" are found in Column A and Column C on the same row, then replace "car" in Column A with "truck".
Is there a way to do this automatically as I have few hundred to find and replace?
After much fretting over this (and many other Excel issues), I've decided to seek out some assistance. I've included an example with columns, because I'm not very fluent in Excel terminology.
I have following code (see below) which finds the duplicates within columns, but I require copying and replacing duplicate values within different row cells, as I am currently finding this task hard to implement.
I have a list that looks like the list on my sample file. You will see ME28A16 at the top and the bottom of the list. I want to fill the Cells inbetween with that value. In my real file It may start ME or it may start PE
Here is the Script that I am using but I can not get it to work:
Dim CurrentRow As Long Dim LastRow As Long Dim CurrentText
LastRow = Range("A65000").End(xlUp).Row
For CurrentRow = 1 To LastRow If InStr(4, Cells(CurrentRow, 4).Value, "M", vbTextCompare) > 0 Or _ InStr(4, Cells(CurrentRow, 4).Value, "P", vbTextCompare) > 0 Then CurrentText = Cells(CurrentRow, 4).Value Else Cells(CurrentRow, 4).Value = CurrentText End If Next CurrentRow
I am running Microsoft Excel 2007 on Windows XP. Right now, I have the standard macro set up that will replace formulas with their values. It's the standard macro that does this for the entire sheet:
Code: Sub All_Cells_In_Active_WorkSheet_1() With ActiveSheet.UsedRange .Cells.Copy .Cells.PasteSpecial xlPasteValues .Cells(1).Select End With Application.CutCopyMode = False End Sub
However, with this being a daily task, the issue is that this wipes the formulas out for future dates, which is obviously problematic. To be more specific:
I have one tab (HISTORICAL) with over 200 rows with each business day this year. Columns B through H will pull data from two other tabs (ENTRY1 and ENTRY2) that is entered daily, using a formula that tells Excel to only pull the data for the current date:
Code: =IF(A224=ENTRY1!B1,ENTRY1!B2,0)
So each day, someone will open this sheet and input their data on the ENTRY1 and ENTRY2 tabs. These numbers will auto populate over to the HISTORICAL tab for that specific day.
Also on each day, someone else will open the sheet and go to the HISTORICAL tab and run the macro that converts the formulas on that sheet to the value.
I want to be able to run the macro only for the row with the current date (and any date before will be fine since those will already be converted anyway).
So, taking today for example, when I run the macro, I want it to convert the data only in the 11/8/2011 and previous rows, but NOT for the 11/9/2011 and later rows.
I recently became owner of a spreadsheet with some issues, and I am trying to make it useful. Each row has a URL of a blog post, and I want to extract the date from it (which is present in each URL) while getting rid of the rest of the URL. I was able to get rid of everything up to the year (which comes first), but then the URL continues, for example, 2013/05/16/the-rest-of-the-url/ and I would like to just have 2013/05/16 remain.
I am trying to use find and replace with the find box reading 2013/??/??/*/ and replacing it with 2013/??/?? which effectively erases everything else in the url, but leaves ?? instead of the numbers. Is there any way to have it so that it keeps whatever was in the original box?
Trying to repeat a 550 or so character statement with a find/replace however I am getting type mismatch errors. When I use a smaller message in the "replace" it works.
I need it to post a message exactly as long as what I have in there. How do I get it to work?
