Following the tips doesn't allow to remove a character.
I exported email addresses from Outlook and they have the following character ' in front of the email address.
Using Excel 2007.. it says :"check if your search formatting and criteria are defined correctly. If you are sure that matching data exists in this workbook, it may be on a protected worksheet. Excel cannot replace data on a protected worksheet"
So I made a new file, and copied and pasted the cells into the new spreadsheet.. same message.
Find Multiple instances of Numeric Criterion in Row & Return To a Single Column.
I have a Dynamic Named Range "Data" spanning 10 Columns and many Rows. Each Row may contain duplicates of the Numeric Criterion.
I would like to find ALL instances of a specific Numeric Criterion across each single Row in the Dynamic Range "Data" and have the Results returned to a New Sheet in a single column.
NEW Sheet: The Numeric Criterion is housed in G5. The matched criterion should be returned to the New Sheet starting at G7. Duplicate instances in the same Row should ALL be returned to the same cell in Column G on the New Sheet.
Sample Data Layout: Columns I J K L M N O P Q R Row No.76 1 0 1 1 0 1 1 1 0 1 Row No.77 2 2 3 2 1 2 2 0 0 0 Row No.78 3 3 3 3 3 0 3 0 3 0
Scenario: Looking for Numeric Criterion 1 (one).
Expected Results - New Sheet: Row No.7 Column G (Cell G7) 1111111 Row No.8 Column G (Cell G8) 1
In Row 76 of the Sample Data ALL seven Numeric Criterion of 1 (one) should be returned to the same cell G7. In Row 77 of the Sample Data there is only one Numeric Criterion of 1 and it should be returned to cell G8.
I have seen many threads on how to delete rows with no data in them (empty rows).. but I have a spreadsheet that has large "chunks" of column data separated by random empty cells. (It is like this from earlier manipulation of summing similar cells...)
Some columns do not have any empty cells and some have a many empty cells. I only want to shift the cell directly beneath it up, and only concentrate on a single column at a time.
So my main questions is: How do you delete single cells, in a single column, and shift the data below up?
I need a macro to delete each row in which all cells contain the same value, always starting in cell G2 and going out an indefinite number of cell's. So, for one run, the range could be G2:BU2 and another it could be G2:PW2. Also, the number of row's is indefinite.
And an added complexity: I need it to ignore the cell in this search process if the cell contains "NC" - so if all the data in the row is the same except for a few that say NC - then it gets deleted. If the any of the cells in the row have other values, then that row does not get deleted - even if it contains "NC".
I'm okay with Excel, but I'm just getting into utilizing VBA and I've been searching high and low for a simple VBA code that will remove/delete rows based off a single criteria without loop as there are over 40,000 rows. I tried a couple that I found onilne, and adapting them to my criteria range, but no luck. (All the ones that I found that work use loop and it takes about 15 mins to run through the entire spreadsheet)
I would like to maintain my first row as it's my headers. My single criteria is to remove all rows that have "NO" in column D.
I know it can delete entire rows based on the value of single cell, I just don't know how to do it. So what I need is a macro that will delete an entire row if the value in a particular column = 0.
I'm wanting to use VBA to search down a column for a one dynamic value and replace all instances of that value in the column with a seperate dynamic value. My first attempt was this:
I imported the data from someone. And the cell in the column comes with the single quote'infront of the cell value. For example, the value that you see in the cell is "920-F-Y", but if Click on that cell, it turns out to be '920-F-Y, there's a single quote infront of it. I can't do a replace all on that single quote to empty space for some reason. Might just be my excel, or there's just something wrong. The problem is, I have 2 sources of data. I imported the first one, it has the single quote infront of it, i imported the second one, it has no single quote infront of it. I want to do a comparison, but I can't because it's different by single quote.
You can open my attachment, and try to replace that ' (single quote) with a space, and excel will complaint that it can't find it. I could go through each one and delete it individually, but consider that there are 5000 cells, it's just a lot of work.
I need find consecutive Numbers in a singles Cell but each numbers have a leading zero and "-" (Dash)
My problem is that the UDF that i found on this forum, is for numbers with out leading zero with comma ",",
So even if change the "," by "-", still getting a error Because the Code is designed to Read numbers Formats different than mine..

I have a macro which scans column "AV" in Sheet1 and if a particular value is found it will copy certain cells from that row and paste them into Sheet2 on Row 10 starting with column "E".
With the current code I only paste a single instance, if the value is found more than once I only have the last one pasted. How can I best set this up so it will paste ALL found value results within Row 10?
The four copied results do not have to be in separate cells, it is actually best if the cells are combined. On Sheet2, cells E10-H10 can also be setup to have the data pasted across all four cells and that way Row Height AutoFit would take care of expanding the row's height to accommodate the possibly of having four or five sets of results being combined together and pasted into E10.
Is this even possible using a macro? It is currently being done using a Word document but I am wanting to automate the process and try to handle all the data sorting within Excel, if possible.

The problem - I'm trying to find a formula that will find text between 2 characters with unlimited instances in a single string and combine the found text to a single string. The character enclosing the text i'm after will likely be a % symbol. This formula would then be replicated down 5000-10000 rows.
eg. 1 - This is %an% example %sentence% to show what I %am% looking for eg. 2 - This %is another% example of what I %need%
I'm trying to find a way to save a single sheet of an excel workbook and in the same process delete all vba code and shapes from the new single sheet workbook. I was looking around and found this code which does save only the single sheet to a new one sheet workbook but doesn't delete the vba and shape that I have used to assign macros to in the original.

i am getting some ??? and ??????? in my excel sheet. i think it's because i am importing some foreign language into excel and it doesn't like it. i was wondering if there is a way to find and delete all these rows. i tried do to a filter for ??? or ??, it simply shows all the results because in the custom autofilter, it has the following:
"Use ? to represent any single charaters" "Use * to represent any series of characters"
I have tried to record this but I cannot get it to work? On the tab “Add & Delete” cell “L17” I have a drop down list that is a list of the policy numbers from the “Data” tab.
What I am trying to do is assign a macro that searches column “J” on the “Data” tab based on the “L17” content on the Tab “Add & Delete” when it finds the data it then clears the contents of that entire row.
I'm looking to search column A on a worksheet, find a specific value and then delete the entire row that value shows up in. This is what I have so far...
Basically, what I am after doing is getting a script to look through that column and delete any rows that do not have "Name1" in Column A.
So far, i've sorted the column so all the blank cells appear at the top, and the "Name1" cells appear at the bottom. Now what I was going to do was use a loop, and I got as far as this before becoming confused .....
Looking for some VBA code that will look for the first instance of a certain value in Column A, (Begins with 9128),then delete all rows above that row. Then I need to look for a value in Column A that begins with 9129, and delete all rows below that. I've attached a sample workbook to illustrate.
I've a worksheet containing a list of items some of which need deleting. These are identified from a particular range where users input "y" to notifiy the record can be removed. The code below works just fine if all I do is Clear the cells containing "y". However using: Range(rCell.Address).EntireRow.Delete
the macro stops after deleting the first item. It suddenly believes there aren't any further items to delete and Ends. There are no error messages returned. Entire macros is below.

I have an excel spreadsheet with a list of numbers in column A. These are all "random" numbers in that they don't follow an order, but they mean something elsewhere.
The rest of the columns have other information that is related to the number in the same row.
I have another list of random numbers which is much smaller than the original, but all of the numbers on the smaller list (which is in a different excel document but can easily be put in its own column) are in the larger list as well..
I want to compare the two lists, and if the number from the smaller list is found on the larger list, I want the entire row deleted and all the remaining cells shifted up. I do not want any blank rows between the data.
I need to find the minimum of 4 numbers placed in 4 columns and delete the one which is minimum among them. I know to find minimum I can use min function but i don't know after finding how can i delete that automatically. Also problem is if two or more numbers are identical and minimum value it has to delete any one of them.
In column B I have a list of blank cells and cells that contain values. I want a macro to search for 'Jobs' and if it finds this word in column B then delete the entire row where it is find and also delete the row below it if column B is blank and also delete the row below again if column B is blank (up to 8 rows below where the word is find at most will be blank)
When it eventually finds a cell that is not blank, then exit sub.
