A full screen crosshair for Excel would allow one to instantly and easily see which row and column the cursor is on without clicking a cell or following from the cursor to the row/column with your finger on the screen. It may seem trivial, but once you have used a full screen crosshair, you just don't know what you've been missing.

I do not want to go too elaborate by hiding (remembering and restoring) control bars and I reckon the View Full Screen is pretty much okay for my purposes.
I am currently invoking View Full Screen on Workbook_Activate but hitting the ESC key returns to normal view. I can already see my users hitting the ESC key for various reasons and ruining my master plan.
Is there are any way to prevent unintended ESC from Full-Screen or otherwise lock in the full-screen mode until revoked intentionally by macro (shortcut)?

Oct 30, 2011I have large workbook with various sheets. In my first worksheet I have some command buttons that call each sheet as needed. However, I would like each sheet to be displayed either as a web page or in a way that the user does not see all of the menus, bars and so on.

Chart Axis Resizing Affecting Full Screen?
Mar 26, 2014My workbook operates in full screen mode simly to make it looks a bit nicer. I have some + - buttons that call a macro to change the scale of the axes of a chart (sort of a zoom effect). For some reason, whenever I run these macros my workbook exits out of full screen mode.

Having investigated, I found that full screen mode pretty much does what I want, however you can restore the menus by pressing ESC or selecting restore down. Is there a way of preventing users from exiting full screen mode, I could add a close application button for them to use instead.

Jun 19, 2009Making a mission tracker that requires less upkeep than my units previous methods. I am using Excel 2007 and have some things in mind that I would like it to do.
On the down side, I have only basic experience with excel and have never used macros or VBA.
Even if what I am after could be solved with functions (which I prefer), I simply do not quite know how to make what I want without assistance. Ok, now on to the description.
The mission tracker aside from showing a list of the missions we have done during our program, it needs to also generate metrics automatically. In my worksheet, I am using columns A-G and rows 1-501.
The mission scheduling type in Column E are listed below. The letters on the left are what I am using in the sheet, the part to the right is what it really means:
Column D has the day of the week listed as: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun.
now the metrics I need to be generated are the number of different types of each mission compared, how many of each type of mission was flown per day of the week, how many of each type of mission was flown per month.
Basically what I need is a way to automatically count the number of rows that meet a specific criteria throughout the range. This would require being able to check the value/text of multiple cells at a time and count the number of rows that meet that criteria.
[SOLVED] 1. The first part would be to have the worksheet be able to count the number of each type of the 9 mission scheduling codes throughout the range. I would be storing the count in new cells that would then be connected to pie charts.
[SOLVED] 2. The second part would be to count the number of each type of mission that was flown per day of the week. That would require searching both mission type and day of the week. All I would need is a working formula for 1 set, then I could switch mission codes and weekdays to match all the 63 possible outcomes.
3. Knowing the number of each type of mission flown per month. This would be checking the date and the mission type. The trickier part that comes up in my mind is that our programs span multiple calendar years, so it would have to track it by month and year, that way there is a difference between Jan 2009 and Jan 2010. The counted numbers would be used to make histograms. It would be nice if the chart titles could be automatic based on the dates inputed in the mission tracker. If I needed to choose a maximum time length for it to cover, I would pick 3 years.
4. I would like to figure out how to make an inputted line of data on the main tracker sheet to create a copy in the corresponding worksheets based on schedule type, that way a person could look at/print a specific type without having to sort the main list.
The actual goal is to make it where a person can enter the 1 line of data per mission (cells A-G) and the mission metrics update automatically after each mission is inputed allowing upper level supervision to have current information quickly whenever it is needed. Currently we need about a weeks lead time to get the information asked for on our current progress.
Session Timer 10min Splash Screen Warning Then 15min Force Close
Feb 16, 2009Hi, The purpose of this macro was to control the time this excel file was open because many users modify it. I decided to create a splash screen (userform) to display a message to the user saying "your session time of 15min is up"
The problem is, the first time I open the file everything works fine. But after I close it (just the workbook not excel), It opens itself for some reason and gives me a debug error message. Perhaps the timer is never stopped?
I call "StartTimer10min" on workbook open and "StopTimer" before workbook close.
Auto Updating Graphs To Not Include Full Range?
Mar 13, 2014Have been trying to set a chart here to autoupdate which normally is fine to do. In this case however there are other columns in the data table that run down to Dec 2014. Even if i define my needed range, the graph will show the full timeframe (with lots of unneccessary space).
I've attached an example. Rate % is the column that will be updated monthly and I would like the graph to only increment along when a new figue is entered here. I've defined this range as 'Rate' within the sheet.

Nov 19, 2012I have a userform [AddEditMove] with a bunch of textboxes (something like 30) that create entries in a spreadsheet ["Move Records"] along one row. In addition to creating those basic entries, the textboxes also fill in other spreadsheets after manipulating the entered data in various ways.
Therefore, if an entry needs to be changed, it needs to be changed from the userform rather than just on the main sheet, or those other actions won't be taken. At least, that's how I see it now. I'm interested in knowing how other people have handled similar set ups.
Right now, what I think I'd like is for the user to be able to double click any entry on the main sheet and have that action call up the userform and autofill the data from the sheet so the user can change what they need to change and then update it. It would also require a tweak in the userform code -- "if called from cell click, then fill info in selected row, rather than next empty line" -- if that's possible.

Auto-Adjust Screen Resolution When Opening A File
Sep 18, 2007I have made an excel spreadsheet. The area with data exactly fills my screen.
When I send it to other colleagues, it perfectly fills their screen too. But for some colleagues the data area is either too big for their screen or takes up a small proportion of their screen based on their screen resolution. I would like the area with data to perfectly fill the screen of all people who will access the file.
I am thinking that I would do an automatic event so that I can change the settings upon opening the file. I have Excel VBA programming for Dummies which explains about automatic events but I have no idea what sort of sub procedure to use.

What is the proper way to separate a collection of full names into first middle and last. Do you highlight the list and put in one general equation or do you have to repeat these steps for each individual name in each cell?

Apr 28, 2006I would like to enable my user to search on any one of about 4 columns, when the result(s) are found I need to return the full row to a result form. I've had no problems getting the information from the form to the worksheet but I've run into a few problems now. I should be able to be able to return the rest of the row with the result if I can determine a way to return the row number. Anyway these are the things that I need (in a nut shell):
1. Return a row number
2. Pass values to a form who should be able to change according to the size of the array
3. Have an array of variable size, with variable headers.
Calculate The Full WC Date From YY-WW?
Apr 30, 2009I have weeks in format YY-WW (this week is 09-18) and wish to calculate the full date for the week commencing day for that week. '09-18 is in cell S8. To work out the date I currently have: =DATE(LEFT(S8,2),1,RIGHT(S8,2)*7-8)-WEEKDAY(DATE(LEFT(S8,2),1,3))
Which I thought was working fine, but turns out to be the WC date for 1909. I'll probably have to change the -8, that's not a problem, but I can't work out how to get it to 2009.
