Apr 26, 2006

how to correct the tiling of a picture set as a background on a worksheet? It would appear to start tiling at b2 rather than a1. the bottom of the picture starts on row 1 and the top of the picture then begins row 2. also column a shows the far right side of the picture and column b shows the start of the left side.

Macro: Variated Background Picture

Feb 27, 2009

My macro generates some graph from some datas. Datas are in some range and when I filtering it shows only filtered values. I use Fixed axis (min and max) because if I use Auto it fit data to the window.

My problem is: I would like to use Auto axis because my layout would be better but bacground picture remains the same and it's useless. Background picture should change as I change filters.

example:

untitled.JPG
here is picture:
current situation is 1.

With Auto axis I get 2. (blue B and green D are filtered results)

And I would like to have 3.

Is it possible that background picture variate as datas variates?

Create Excel Shape From MapInfo *OR* Make Picture Background Transparent?

Aug 13, 2008

I'm trying to make a map of 14 regions where each region changes brightness depending on values in the worksheets. I think I've got this bit sorted. I'm planning on creating the map using a collection of tessellated shapes or images, and using VBA to alter the properties of each one to create a dynamic map.

The output of the individual maps from MapInfo, our GIS software, is in .png or .jpg. format, and come with a white background. Is there any way to either make the background transparent so multiple shapes can be tessellated effectively, or a way to crop the image to the area's border?

Either that, or does someone know a way to output from MapInfo in such a way to make this possible? (Granted, it's a long shot, but you can't blame a guy for trying...)

Worksheet Events: Use A Worksheet Event To Change The Background Of The Current Month Two Columns In The Range To Yellow Color

Jun 12, 2007

In cell A1, I have the month number (eg, 1, 2, 3,). The month number reflects current month and will automatically change with every month. For example, right now it’s 6, next month it will automatically change to 7. Each two columns in Range A10:X20 represents the data from January to December. I want to use a worksheet event to change the background of the current month two columns in the range to yellow color and the two columns in the range will be visible when I activate this sheet.

Conditional Format Based On Background Color

Jun 5, 2008

I'm attempting to write a conditional format formula that will change the background color based on multiple color options on in a row. I have cell A:c as first, last and middle name. I utilize the rest 40+ cells that provides dates that are conditionally formatted to based on dates. I've approached this trying to reference the columns dates and cannot figure it out. Heres what I would like to do:
If any cell in from D:Z has a background color of red, yellow, green, and none it will change the background color in cells A:C. Its easy to reference one cell but not multiple. I've attached a sample of what I would like to do and I manually changed to cells A:C to show how I would like to show my results.

Auto Format Fill Colour Background On Certain Cells

Apr 2, 2007

I have been working on a spreadsheet but I use autoformat for.

For example if the date in the cell matches today's date then it turns the text read and makes it bold.

I was wondering if there was a way to format several cells in a row if a certain criteria was met.

for example

A B C
1 Item Cost Quantity
2 Car £11,520 2
3 Bike £7,500 1
4 Tyres £50 4

Now for example if I set a condition whereas the quatity is greater than 3 then it would highlight the whole row.

So in the example above I would like to to highlight row 4 and Fill colour cells A4,B4 & C4 with a yellow background and Red Text and make the texted bold.

Conditional Format - Hiding Text With Shady Background

Apr 18, 2007

I'm attempting to use Conditional Formatting to hide text where the background is shaded. When the background is white, I can just set the text to white and it is invisible - no problem. However, when the background is set to anything else, and I set the text to the same color as the background, Excel LIES to me. It pretends that the text is invisible, but it still shows up in Print Preview and when it's actually printed. The Custom Format ;;; doesn't help me, because I need the invisibilization only under certain funky conditions.

Insert/format Picture From Folder

Jan 8, 2007

I am using the code below to insert and resize images in excel. I was wondering is it possible to set up this macro so that I can just provide the directory and then have it so that just a random image is inserted rather than specifying an jpg number. The reason i need this is because the numbers in the folder range from 00000 to upto 20000 however not every folder has the full range of images i.e. Z:SingaporeSingapore TurfSingapore Turf Club 2QEII Cup 2006QEII Cup 2006_VDMillenium Copthorne InternationalTVGI Race Name Text may just contain one image and that would be image number 03965.

The other thing I would like to do is to have the name of the las 2 subfolders inserted into the cell above the image so for the example below you would have:

Millenium Copthorne InternationalTVGI Race Name Text
Picture

Millenium Copthorne InternationalTVGI Race Name Logo

Userform With Multipage / Insert Picture And Format It

Jul 20, 2014

I've got a table in a worksheet. Every time the user double-clicks on one of the cells containing the names for each of the listed items, a userform pops up displaying information about that item. Besides other controls, this userform has an Image Box, that displays a picture of the item, and a Multipage.

What I want to do is to display the same picture shown by the Image Box, on to the Multipage, using the same file, but, and here's the quirk, aditionally, change it's size, turn it monochrome, and set its transparency to a different value.

I've attached an example of the final look I'm seeking. This was done by prior editing of a copy of the image and inserting it using LoadPicture, but this solution is too troublesome as this is done solely for aesthetical purposes, thus not justifying all the hassle a user has to go through everytime he wishes to add a new item to the table.

Macro To Show / Hide Rows On Background Worksheet

Apr 9, 2014

Getting a macro to work. I've looked through the forums pretty extensively but ad I'm not too hot with the old vba, I haven't been able to get it working.

I have two worksheets in the same workbook. The first worksheet, let's call it Input, is one for data entry; and the second one, let's call in Output, is formatted for printing.

There are 8 drop down boxes from a data validation list, that when a particular option or three are selected, I need the Output worksheet to unhide only the rows associated with those options.

In trying to get this all to work, I'd added a function in the cell to the left of each option in the Output page that will show the text "show" when that option is selected on the Input page, or the text "hide" if not selected.

I think I could do this with some time with a clunky and long macro, but would prefer to us some kind of "for each" option to hide rows that have "hide" shown in column A, as I'm looking at a range of 100~ cells.

VB To Insert Picture On Worksheet

Sep 4, 2012

I have a approximately 17 workbooks, all with multiple worksheets within. I have a logo that I now want to add to each worksheet in every book.

What I would like to do is the following, on each worksheet.

Add 13 rows starting from the top A1 (this is to make room for a logo I want to add)Add the logo JPG file (which covers the range A1:F13) . This will be the same picture for all sheets. The picture properties should be "Locked" and "Don't move or size with cells". The path of where my logo is stored is C:UsersGrantDropboxEffExAdminLogosEffEx_logo-05Then select the entire contents of the workbook and uncheck "Locked" from the format control. Then apply protection (which leaves the picture locked) but allowing selection, inserting and formatting of rows/columns.

This will allow the users to still format columns and rows eg. autofit columns, but they cannot select and delete the logo.

I have tried using the Macro Recorder but when I select all sheets, I see that it records the actual sheet names and so this will obviously not work for when applying to other workbooks. Also, it did not record any of the Protection commands which I did.

how I can do this?

Export And Save Worksheet As A Picture

Basically what I would love to do is that when I save the workbook, a certain worksheet named " Fax " is saved to my desktop as a picture (as a snapshot). What would even be better is that the said file was named with simply the date !

The purpose of this is so I can email it to a very non computer guy who thinks that excel is only a gum . . .

Conditional Formatting: If A Cell Value In Column X Contains The Word "open", Format Row Background To Yellow

May 7, 2009

I need to set up some conditional formatting on my spreadsheet, however I am having a little trouble with one of my conditions. The requirement is:

- if a cell value in column X contains the word "open", format row background to yellow.

- if a cell value in column X contains the word "resolved", format row background to green.

- if a cell value in column X contains the word "moved" OR "closed", format row background to blue.

Now I have manged the first two on my own, using the conditional formatting tool and using the formula "=SEARCH("open",INDIRECT("X"&ROW()))".

However I am stuck on the last one. I tried...

=OR(SEARCH("resolved",INDIRECT("X"&ROW())), SEARCH("closed",INDIRECT("X"&ROW())))

However this doesnt work. I tried looking at adding VB script in but to be honest I am not a VB programmer and cant really spend too much time on this. fix the final conditional format so it run if the cell contains either "resolved" or "closed"?
