I have a large text file that is generated daily and want to import into MS Access as the end result.
First I need to reformat into the row format in excel rather than the format it is in. The issue is not all the segments are the same number of lines or they may have mutli message lines. The names with colon : after them I want to be field names in the table which I wish the text file to import into. Please, I am looking for assistance with this.
I have attached sample data of the text dump, and the name of the file is as you see but different date on the end. At the very end of the text file you will see the desired output which I will then import into Access
Also every new message begins with the dotted line and the date and time at the end.
I have a workbook with many spreadsheet named Sheet1, Sheet2 and so on. Each sheet is filled completely upto 65536 rows. This data is being picked up from a CSV file. In this file there are sites with each site there is a assciated set of data. What happens is the data that extracts data does not differntiate between sites and when it reaches to the end of worksheet it splits the data into next sheet. So I am trying to create a macro to check each spreadsheet starting with the last sheet in the work book for example last sheet in the workbook is seven it should go to sheet6 and if there is a blank row after row 64000 it should cut all the rows and move them to sheet7. Then it should goto sheet5 and do the same and keep on doing it until it reaches sheet1.
I tried to upload my spreadsheet but the zipped excel spreadsheet was 78KB over the forum max. Its hard for me to explan this without you looking at the spreadsheet. Basicly I'm exporting data from Access to Excel into a spreadsheet. When the data exports into excel I want the data to be formated in such a way and this is where some code will need to be written. I've made up 2 spreadsheets within excel. One sheet is how the data comes into excel from access and the other sheet is how I'd like the data to look without me having to doctor the sheet every time I export.
I am using Excel 2010 and I want to import data from a text file, but the problem is that the data is more than 1048576 rows of excel. Is there any solution though codes if one sheet fills up and import remaining data to other sheets ?
I have a folder with multiple text files. I want to import one of these files to a sheet called data in an existing Excel file. The excel file has references to this data sheet on other sheets which I want to keep. I want to save this excel file with the name the text file has and repeat this for all the text files in the folder.
I found a macro a while back which does the job nicely of importing and saving the Excel file, however all the data in the other sheets gets lost once it is saved. How to keep the data?
Sub tgr() Const txtFldrPath As String = "FOLDER WITH TEXT FILES" 'Change to folder path containing text files Const xlsFldrPath As String = "FOLDER FOR EXCEL FILES" 'Change to folder path excel files will be saved to Dim CurrentFile As String: CurrentFile = Dir(txtFldrPath & "" & "*.txt") Dim strLine() As String Dim LineIndex As Long
I need to import thousand of txt files into 1 worksheet keeping the file names as data. Each txt file has 2 columns :
1 0.65914 2 0.65945 3 0.86062 ... ... and each txt file represents recordings made at specific time and date (e.g 0158.DSG_RAWD_HMS_21_ 0_ 0__DMY_29_ 2_12_pulses). I would like to have 2 columns: 1) with the time taken from the name of the txt file (e.g. 21:00:00) and 2) the associated recording. Something like this:
I am trying to import database records into Excel, but i keep getting an error "run-time error 424" on the code below.
It is probably something simple, but i havent tried importing from Access to Excel before.
The code below should clear the data from "Existing" and then copy the data from test.mdb into the same sheet.
The error occurs when opening "Data Source"
Code: Private Sub Workbook_Open() Dim cnn As New ADODB.Connection Dim rst As New ADODB.Recordset Dim dbCommand As New ADODB.Command RowCount = Worksheets("Existing").Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row Worksheets("Existing").Range("A2:V" & RowCount).ClearContents
I currently have a userform, and on commandbutton_click, it performs the following code that adds a column in a access table to a combobox(cbList)
Private Sub CmdName_Click() Dim rstName As ADODB.Recordset Dim strClientDatabase As String, strConnectionString As String strClientDatabase = ActiveWorkbook.Path & "9001.mdb"......
After its listed on the combo box, upon commandbutton_click on another button, i wish to extract a particular record, based on the selection made on the combobox(cbList). This is where im having problems caused i have no idea how to do so. I just want it to extract the particular record row, based on cbList, and insert it into range A100:D100 in a particular worksheet. It is then updated and added to a listbox which ive already done the coding for, and with another button click it would add the details in the listbox into the appropriate location i wish to.. The only place im stuck is with extracting the data from access into a A100:D100 range in any worksheet. what ive come up with, but is incomplete is :
Private Sub CmdImport_Click() Dim adoRS As ADODB.Recordset Dim strSQL As String Dim strClientDatabase As String, strConnectionString As String strClientDatabase = ActiveWorkbook.Path & "9001mdb" .........
I am attempting to create a template that will utilize data from an Access table, and allow the user to select the parameters in the Excel file. The amount of records in this table is slowing down the Excel file, and I would like to lessen the amount of data that is imported based on the user selection.
The Access table will have three columns:
Part Number|Line|Catalog Code
I would like to import all three columns, but allow the user to select the records imported based on the catalog code.
The users do not have read or write access to the sql tables, so I run an Access query at the end of each day to create an Access table that they can access.
The attached file "Temp.xlsm" has been provided to me. I need to generate two files from it - 1) csv 2) a text file in a certain format. It should basically look liked the attached file "InFile.txt" which is an input file for a modelling tool. The arrays and struct strings need to be within brackets and it only contains inputs. Outputs don't need to be generated.
With the code in "Temp.xlsm" so far I have been able to generate attached file "Temp.txt". The only missing bit is the formatting of arrays and structures.
I have a text file with rows and columns of numbers ranging from 1-4 digits that I'd like to import/copy into Excel with each number being in its own cell. But whenever I copy/try to import, Excel splits all of the 3-4 digit numbers up into single digit numbers. The text file has 10,000+ columns (each number occupies two columns so I have half of that amount in numbers) and 300+ lines.
Is the file simply too large for Excel to handle or is there a way I can do this?
I have a macro which imports data from a mainframe dump text file and performs 'Text to Columns' on the imported data so that formula in the spreadsheet can act on the data. The code works perfectly well when I use it, but if a different user logs on and performs exactly the same mainframe dump and import macro the Text to Columns action splits the raw data in a different way and the result is that the split renders the formulae useless.
I've experimented a little and for some reason it appears that the 'Field Info' parameters which are produced when the Text to Columns function is recorded in a macro differ between users even though the raw data is exactly the same.
When I am bring data into Excel from Access - the dates are getting converted from mm/dd/yyyy to the general format (39564). How can I change this back to a date? Can it be done in the SQL statement? The selecting of a column and formatting it will not work for my app. Columns do not line up.
Set cnn = New ADODB.Connection cnn.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" & _ "Data Source=N:oprdatabase.mdb" MySQLcheck = "SELECT [WAREHOUSE],[PARTNUMBER],[ORDER_NUM],[TRANS_DESC],[QUANTITY],[AVAIL_QTY],[ENTER_DATE],[TRANS_DATE] from CUS_REQ" Set rst = cnn.Execute(MySQLcheck) FieldCount = (rst.Fields.Count) rst.MoveFirst
I have a piece of code that imports data from a database on the web. It works but the import uses the wrong encoding. Excel also messes up a column with id-numbers, starting with three zeros that are removed by Excel.
How can a change my code so that it imports the data as utf8 and the columns as text?
Code: Sub csvAll_diva_update() Dim url As String url = "URL;http://kth.diva-portal.org/dice/csvAll?query=-publicationTypeCode:studentThesis&start=0&rows=20&sort=author_sort%20asc"
I have about 180 Excel files (each one with 51 columns and around 30,000 rows) that need to be exported to an Access table.I'm using the routine below which is extremely time-consuming. I'm sure there is a better way to export an excel file to an Access table.
Sub ExportHistData() Dim rst As Object Dim cn As Object Dim i As Long Dim lstCell As Long Application.ScreenUpdating = False lstCell = [a65536].End(xlUp).Row If lstCell = 1 Then Exit Sub
I am using VBA to export an access query into excel, the query works fine in access but when importing the data into an excel spreadsheet, it doesn't display the date column headers in the correct format.
The problem I have is that the dates 1 to 12 are displayed the wrong way round eg:
In Access date column headers from query are: 09/01/2008, 11/01/2008, 12/01/2008, 14/01/2008, 15/01/2008 etc.
But when exporting to excel, the above dates are shown as: 01/09/2008, 01/11/2008, 01/12/2008, 14/01/2008, 15/01/2008 etc
It seems to be changing round the dd/mm when I export, but only upto 12 when the day is 13 or more it is displayed correctly.
Public Sub bttnDMA_Click() 'DMA Figures in Excel format 'Creating the Recordset Dim cnn As ADODB.Connection Set cnn = CurrentProject.Connection Dim MyRecordset As New ADODB.Recordset MyRecordset.ActiveConnection = cnn Dim MySQL As String ....

I was looking for some help on a VBA solution. I would like to run an on open event for a scheduling workbook. It should open a logging workbook, write the %username% to the first blank line in A:A then save and close the logging workbook, leaving the scheduling workbook open and ready for input.
The following UNC can be used as the location for the logging workbook....
I've been trying to make this work for hours and hours and am finally giving up. Most of this code was found on the internet and I've attempted to make it work for my project but I keep getting errors. I use VBA with Excel quite often but never with Access before. Currently I am getting an "Object doesn't support this property or method" error at rs.Findfirst.
I have an excel worksheet that mimics the access table with five fields, an ID field, lastName, FirstName, DeptID (int), Email. I want to search the Access table for a match on the email field, and if it doesn't find the match, to add a new record using values typed into the excel sheet.
Code: Sub UpdateDB() Dim cn As Object Dim rs As Object
I have imported a tab delimited text file into excel. One of the columns consists of a string of text - a comment section. Within this column, there are periods and for some reason it seems that Excel is treating these periods as row separators. how I can prevent Excel from separating the text into rows?
I am trying to figure out a problem. So far without any results. As an Intern at a company, every week I receive a .txt which I have to import and reformat in Excel. Every week this means several hours of work, so I decided to see if this process could get automated. Or at least partially. I was wondering if any of you could give me a hint how to do this, or where to start. Attached you will find the raw .txt data and the format it should get in Excel.
