Formula To Highlight Text Within A Cell Which Also Has Numbers

I have attached a file which shows some cells which start with "p" and then a number and some have the same but with the word " total" in them.
I would like to run a formula in the column next to it which will highlight which cells have that word in order that I can data sort a large file and delete the totals.
I think it will be an IF formula on cells that contain criteria.

I have three workers for which I am counting the data from using a countas formula. The cells are A1,B1,C1 and I want to highlight in another formula to the right if these three values do not equal each other, I have tried and if formula referencing each of the combinations of the compares however it does not work in the desired fashion.

Can numbers and text be included in the same cell and still have the number be included in the total in a formula in another cell? Or must a cell only have numeric values for it to be seen/included in a formula's total value.
I'm trying to create a database that totals materials for a construction project. I want to display the number of doors for a house in a row of cells and have the all the doors totaled in the last cell. This I have no trouble doing.
The problem arises when I want to add some text information about the style of each door in the same cell that the number of doors is shown. As soon as text information is added to a cell that has numeric information, that cells numeric information is not included in the final total in the last cell in the row.
I resorted to using comments instead, but, when the are made visible on the spreadsheet, they don't seem to lock to a relative position regarding the cell they're attached to. For instance, if I widen columns or make any significant spatial changes to the spreadsheet, the comments don't move with the changes.
There may be a way to lock comments to stay in a relative position regarding the cell they're attached to. And if that's the only way to make comments for the items in each cell stay with the cell, then I'll have to use that method. But I'd rather not have to use the comments function at all.
I'd much rather be able to have numbers and text be in the same cell, and still have the number value of that cell be included in a formula total at the end of a row of numeric information.
Example: (In this example separate cells that include both numeric values and text are indicated by parenthesis. The final cell that has the formula that totals the numeric information in the separate cells is indicated by brackets)

I have 49 random numbers esquire 7*7 in the cells B2:H8, and the lottery result in the cells B11:H20, and the result dates in cells A11:B20.
What I want is it possible if I select the cell for example in A11, then numbers are in cells B11:H11 can be highlighted in random number esquire, as shown in the example.
And If I select A12 then highlighted number of this row cells B12:H12 and if cell A13...A14...or...?

This is the text:
Take 5 PPE Swabs per Area, Both Shifts. Test various equipment - hands, aprons, sleeves, hats, etc.
What I need is for "Take 5 PPE Swabs per Area, Both Shifts." to be bold and highlighted in gray, but none of the other text. Conditional formatting highlights the entire cell, which won't work.

I have a spreadsheet where if Cell A2 says "Deposit", Rows A2-E2 would be formatted with a Blue background.
I've tried conditional formatting, but I can't built it into a Macro (I can't make it run), and it only highlights the cell that has that value. I also tried having the spreadsheet filter down to only the values I want highlighted, then highlighting all cells and un-filtering the column- this didn't work either.
It would basically say :
If (any cell in Row A) has text = "Deposit" (it needs to be exact, it can't be "containing"), set cell with the word "Deposit" and 4 cells to the right as Blue (I'm not picky about the color).

I have in Column A (quantity varies A1....An) a list of strings (i.e. file names NameX.txt and in column C I have a long string that contains many file names separated by ; that I extracted from the file name in Column A. what I want to do is to search column C individual text (file names) against the file names in column A. If the file exist in column A, then color only that text (file name) in column C. and so on.
See attached of an example of expected results.

I have a large spreadsheet with many pieces of equipment in it. There are a few piece that I would like to highlight should thier computer license go out of date, or even better 30 days prior. I have a Feild with the Expire dates but it is at the end of the spreadsheet not in plain sight. Is there a way to make my Equipment description column highlight when the date in the other column reaches the current date (or 30 Days before). I have cut and pasted the part of the spreadsheet into a new file to make it easier to read and hid all the none important feilds.

I have created a drop down box that allows me to choose multiple different Text Options. Example: Cell B4 has dropdown that lets me choose the Text Options, "House", "Car" and "Truck".
Next, I have 5 or so other columns underneath with their own text. What I want to do is have different cells highlight themselves depending on what is in Cell B4.
Example, if "House" is selected in B4, I want cells B7 and B9 to highlight. If "Car" is selected, I want cells B7, B8, and B10 to highlight. If "Truck" is highlighted, I want cells B9-B11 to highlight. Is this possible to do? I've tried using If/Then statements, but those don't seem to work for this type of thing.

I have an excel spread sheet & I wish to highlight any cell that contains any of the following characters with in a string of text.
/ : * " < > ? |
E.g. a cell in the spread sheet containing the text "Is this a Question?" would be highlighted.
I have tried to use - 'Format only cells that contain' > Specific Text > Containing > for each of the characters and this does not work.
When I do this any cell containing any text is highlighted.
In addition there is formatting on any cell > 60 characters which turns the cell red and this works fine.
What would happen if (when I get the problem above resolved), a cell is > than 60 characters & contains a character listed above?
Does 1 formatting take precedent over another?
(Not critical to know the answer to the additional question, just curious - as long as it is highlighted one colour or another then no problem.)

I am looking for a formula to grab only the numbers withing a cell that has text in it i.e (John Peters142 lp) or (Sally Jones54) or (Terry Cram310 jkb) sometimes there will be text after the number and sometimes not, the format is as shown with no space between name and number but a space after the number.
I added a sheet for visual example.

I need the " solutions cells " to match to the " source cells " and return a " yes " or " no ". in cells d4:d10. Ex: #1 cell C4=01234598, it will conduct a search & match of cell A5 which contains the number 123, since cell C4 contains all 3 numbers from cell A5, then the formula would result in a " Yes ". The match has to contain all 3 numbers from the solution cells to the source cells.
Ex: #2 cell C7=67891234, it will conduct a search & match of cell A8 =901. Since cell C7 only contains the 9&1 from cell A8, it would return a " No " because cell C7 did not contain all 3 numbers from cell A8. I'm not sure if the IF, Match, Index or Count formula is the right one to use, they all seem to partially work, but still don't complete this problem.

I've been asked to assist with modifications of an excel spreadsheet. One of the features is a column that has a formula of what the total order should be. For example, 1 base order of 25.00, plus 1 bonus order of 18.00, plus 2 bonus orders of 15.00 would be $73.00 due. Then data entry persons enter the actual amount collected. Is there a way to highlight either the cell or the result if the amount collected does not equal the amount due? I know I can accomplish this with another column, but they want to keep the columns to a minimum.
This is for a non-profit agency and the orders are now at 1000 that must be entered within a day or two period, so they want to keep the fields to a minimum so as to make the entry easier for those doing the input. And they would like the data entry person to see an immediate flag if what he or she enters as collected does not equal what is due.

Another spreadsheet I use has a score within a text and i want to know how I can add up the scores easily.
In the example below I want to know If a Formula can return '9 out of 12'. I know this looks easy so why bother, but my sheet has far more rows/columns of data.
I thought of using Left and Right formula's to strip the numbers out.

I have a file where the cells are all formulas.
Employees are able to key in a number instead of using the number derived from the formula.
I want the cell to use conditional formatting without the use of macros, so it will highlight yellow if the cell is keyed in instead of a formula.
Is this possible? I have tried numerous things, but none seem to work.
Example:
Cell A6 has the number 24,248 derived from a formula.
Employee thinks the number should be 30,000 and keys that number in.
If it is 24,248, I want the number to have no fill, but if it is a keyed in number, I want it to be highlighted.

I know I can use text to columns to do this. I have horse results listed in column A as follows 3.5L (i.e. 3.5 lengths), 4L and so on. Every number ends with an L. I want a formula in column O that just gives me the number as below:
3.5L 3.5 (in column O)
4.5L 4.5
and so on.

Basically, I want to have a VBA coding so that it will highlight Column A to I in red If Column C Contain the word "Direct".
I'm currently using this code but it only highlight If the cell = "Direct". If the cell contains "Direct + something else" or "Something else + Direct" it does not highlight.

I need a formula that calculates the values of 5 seperate cells located in different places throughout my sheet. The value will either be numerical or display a text value (normally "RD"). If it displays text I do not want that value counted. So it literally just totals the number values.

I have the following SUMPROCUCT in place and it works fine for current purpose:
=SUMPRODUCT(VLOOKUP($E$9,Rota!$C$4:$FU$369,{5,30,53,78,103,137},FALSE))
columns 5, 30, 53, 78, 103, 137 all contain text. However I need to amend some of these to text but I still need the SUMPRODUCT to add up.
Is there a way to amend the above formula so its counts both text and numbers in 5,30,53,78,103,137 ?

I want to show a date like 18-12-2008. This wil normal work with =()TODAY-356
But when I output text with this formula it will only show numbers:
="date "&TODAY()-365&""
I want to subtract 1 year of today.
I tried to set my cell to the date format but this did not work.
