Formulas Move When Cutting And Pasting Workbooks
Jul 14, 2014
I've set up a spreadsheet structure at work which is three workbooks linked together.
I created this initially within My documents saved locally to my machine. Now though, I need to move the folder containing these workbooks onto the server to be accessed by others. My problem is that when cutting and pasting the folder, the formulas within the three spreadsheets still refer to their original location within My Documents rather than following the folder to their new location.

I am trying to develop a macro in excel that CUTS AND PASTES rows of data from one worksheet in to the next available row in a new worksheet if there is a date in a particular cell. If the cells that are being checked for a date are empty, then the routine would skip these rows of data.
Here is an example of the worksheet. All rows containing a date in the Scanned column, would be cut and pasted in to a new worksheet. And any rows that have an empty cell in the Scanned column are ignored. If the Scanned column is filled at a later date, then when the macro is run, the data in that row would be cut and pasted in to the next available row in the new worksheet.

AS you can see in the attached file, I have several collumns of data going form 2012 to 1992. I would like to know the quickest way to invert this so the data is presented 1992 to 2012.

I am baffled because one worksheet I can cut/paste and none of the reference cells whether they are dependents or precedents change--in other words, all formulas remain exactly the same. I switch over to another tab in my back-end and the formulas change when cutting/pasting cells.

In column A I have the age of a sale i have completed (compared against todays date) and from B - N of the same row i have the data that coresponds to the sale. As Column A changes daily by 1 i would like to only keep the rows whereby column A is between 1 - 10. For any that are above 10 I would like to cut and paste to a second sheet, strangely entitled "older than 10 days" !
as there are formulas after column N which calculates the data i would only like to cut columns B - N of the specific row.
I think I need to create a macro that first sorts column A so I have the oldest data at the top and then a loop to check if these are above 10, i then want to cut from B - N and paste into another sheet.

code to take jobs that are done on one spreadsheet and send them to the next available row of a specified range on another worksheet. I am also looking to incorporate a way to delete the empty rows that are left behind.
I have already made code to select the completed jobs, but am still unsure how to approach the next part. I can't even paste the selected range to another sheet without errors from range sizes.
The following code is done up to the point where I cut my selection.
Sub Update()
Worksheets("OpenGen").Activate
Dim c As Object
Dim rngA As Range

Whenever you insert / delete row or cut cells out in Mon/Tue sheets it's causing issues in the table in the Weekly view tab.
Is there any way to prevent it? I don't mind redoing whole spreadsheet, it was done ages ago in a very fast manner.
I gave you an idea by deleting a row range in Mon tab which causes #REF error.

-ActiveList is in a separate workbook from EeSht.
-The information in column A of ActiveList is in Text format.
Is there a addon to "EeSht.Range("A2").PasteSpecial" that would paste it in General Format?
HTML Code:
With ActiveList
LastRow = .Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
.Range("A3:" & LastRow).Copy
EeSht.Range("A2").PasteSpecial

VBA to find the next appropriate blank cell in column "A" when copying ranges of varying sizes and pasting them in a new worksheet one after the next.
Currently I have recorded a macro that uses the code below to get to this location, but I am worried this will break when I get new data of a different range size;
Range(Selection, ActiveCell.SpecialCells(xlLastCell)).Select 'my initial range selection
Selection.Copy
Windows("myfile.csv").Activate
ActiveSheet.Paste
ActiveCell.SpecialCells(xlLastCell).Select 'finds last cell of my paste
Range("N69").Select 'I hit the down arrow once to get to new blank row
Selection.End(xlToLeft).Select 'to go to begining/col A of new row for next paste
I have tried playing around with
ActiveCell.Next
but can't get it to work.

Basically the main workbook opens 2 files at a time performs a calculate in the main workbook and then copies and pastes information in 3 ranges. Then closes the two open workbooks and loops and performs same operations until it hits the maximum loops. My macro is as follows and I have 3 question in capital letters.

I would like to do a mass paste of this formula: =VLOOKUP(A23,A2:C9, 2)
With the only variable that changes along the way (A24, then A25, etc). But as I paste, (A2:C9), the table array, keeps changing as well, to A3:C10, A4:C11, etc.
How can I prevent this and only have A23 change as I paste?

If I have a formula on Sheet2 which creates conclusions depending on data already existing on Sheet1 and then I need to paste the same formula on Sheet4 in order to get conclusions from Sheet3, then what can I do? Every time I am trying to paste the formula, it connects it with Sheet1 instead of Sheet3
In other words
Sheet1: Data
Sheet2: Extracted conclusions from Sheet1 data based on a formula
Sheet3: Data similarly organized as in Sheet1
Sheet4: How do I extract the same conclusions, but this time from Sheet3?
The formula on Sheet2 is:
=INDEX(Sheet1!$E$312:$E$5000;((COLUMNS($A4:B4)-1)*20)+1)
I would like to copy this formula from Sheet2, then paste it to Sheet4 and then to have it appearing as
=INDEX(Sheet3!$E$312:$E$5000;((COLUMNS($A4:B4)-1)*20)+1)
Is this possible?

I have been asked by my manager to make new shelf labels for all our stationery products for the VAT change in the new year. I'm sure I can get excel to help me make the task quicker but i'm just having trouble with pasting the formulas into the label template that I have to use, I was wondering if anyone could tell me why and if it is possible to do with the way I set the document out. Attached is what I have so far.
if there is a simpler way of doing this. The data sheet is the item description and the old price. The labels sheet i need to be able to print off in that format so i can cut it up and use the labels on our shelves. The formula for the VAT change is on the labels sheet, it works on the old price on the data sheet. I want to be able to quickly apply the formulas and format of the labels to more cells in the sheet so i can print off multiple pages of labels.
I have tried just copying the current formatted cells (A2 to C29) which I have seperatley typed the formulas into (takes ages) and pasting them beneath that. It doesnt continue the formula though. Instead of the next label cells formula carrying on and being Data!A43 it become Data!A29. Perhaps what I want to do is not even possible!

I was wondering if there was a way to create patterns when copying and pasting formulas?
For example, here is what I want to do right now:
=AVERAGE(Sheet1!I2:I650)
=AVERAGE(Sheet1!I2:I649)
=AVERAGE(Sheet1!I2:I648)
=AVERAGE(Sheet1!I2:I647)
=AVERAGE(Sheet1!I2:I646)
=AVERAGE(Sheet1!I2:I645)
=AVERAGE(Sheet1!I2:I644)
=AVERAGE(Sheet1!I2:I643)
=AVERAGE(Sheet1!I2:I642)
=AVERAGE(Sheet1!I2:I641)
=AVERAGE(Sheet1!I2:I640)
In other words, have a pattern in the formula?
Or something like this, but filling out cells horizontally.
=A1/A100
=A1/A99
=A1/A98
=A1/A97
=A1/A96
=A1/A95
etc...
Or:
=A1*A1
=A1*A2
=A1*A4
=A1*A8
=A1*A16
=A1*A32
=A1*A64
etc...

I recently received an .xls book which I then saved as .xlsx (I'm using 2010). There are just under 8,000 rows and 20 columns. File Size 1MB.
The only formulas in the sheet are the ones in a column which I inserted and copied down for all 8,000 rows. Nothing too complicated: no arrays or anything. The sheet calculates fine.
I am simply trying to copy and paste these formulas as values (into the same cells), though at every attempt Excel crashes. I tried on smaller sets of the column and just got it to work for a few hundred rows, though it struggles with any more than that.
I opened a different workbook of mine, and tried the same operation on twice as many cells containing complicated, lengthy array formulas and the action completed instantly.
There is no Conditional Formatting in the book, no code, no 'last cell' issue, no Named Ranges, no external links.
I have even copied the data to a new workbook, then copied the text of just one of the formulas over into this book, added an equals sign, copied down and recalculated, then tried to paste as values again. Still crashes.
Formula:
=IF(AND(N3>1,ROWS($1:1)<>MATCH(M3,$M$3:$M$7979,0)),"Exact Duplicate","")
is far more resource-hungry than I thought, though if that were the case, wouldn't the issue be during calculation (which, as I said, is fine) and not during a paste attempt? No, it can't be this.

I'm trying to copy and paste this formula to multiple cells and am having difficulty doing so without everything in the formula changing.. SUMIF(Bankroll!Q14:Q6000,U143,Bankroll!Y14:Y6000)
I only want the U143 to change to U144, U145, etc. Yet when I copy and paste down the sheet it changes the Q14:Q6000 and the Y14:Y6000 values as well. I've been having to go through and paste the formula one line at a time and then manually change the U143 to the current U cell that I want it to represent in order to keep the rest of the values the same. Is there a faster way than this?

I have code that "mostly" works great. I'm copying columns from one sheet to another sheet, but in different columns. I have unique code for each copy/paste. The source is mostly raw data. However, there are a few columns that are formula-based, and I'm having a problem. I've attached my code, and it works, but it takes 20 minutes to complete.
I'm very new to macros, but I think(?) I know enough that a data source with 2,000 rows and 30 columns shouldn't take 20 minutes to complete the macro calculations. All of the columns (copy and paste) in the code are pure data. The only exception is the column labeled "AI". Is there are shortcut, other than creating new columns in the source data sheet and pasting these results as values? I put the specific pieces of code that I'm referencing in bold.

I want to transfer the contents of a worksheet in test.xls called data to test1.xls and onto another worksheet called data1 (within test1.xls). I do not want to overwrite the test1.xls file but simply move
test.xls!data to test1.xls!data1, keeping any existing formulas etc on other worksheets within test1.xls intact. Anyone konw some vba code as a macro that could do this for me? Version of Excel is Mac 2004

In Workbook 1 O1, I need a formula that will, if Workbook 1 M1 = "Yes", find the value from Workbook 1 N1 anywhere in Workbook 2 Column E, and when it is found, look at the value 2 columns to the right in Workbook 2. If there is a value in this cell, return "Yes" in Workbook 1 O1. If there is no value in this cell, return "No" in Workbook 1 O1. If Workbook 1 M2 = "No", the formula should return "No".

I have to report on 6 departments each with 6 sub departments weekly. First I need to consolidate 6 ( move/copy worksheet to consolidated workbook using a macro) separate worksheets (all saved in the same folder) per department into single workbook (preferably generated automatically by macro/code). I then need to repeat the above process for another 6 files per sub department. The output files should be pasted as "values" while retaining all other formatting. In essence I need to automate the whole right click on tab, select move or copy worksheet function in excel to take the load out of doing it manually.

I am trying to build a cup tree that automaticly move players over to the next round if they are first or second in
their group of 4. What happens when first person have a result of lets say 33 and 2nd and 3d person have a result of 35 each and the 4th person 37? First person is easy but then there are 2 persons with the sam result and they play sudden death and we put in a 1 in the sd column for the winner and a 2 for the loser of the sudden death.
How do I make my formula figure that if they had the same result go look at the sd column?
Another thing is that of the 2 players advancing they have to be placed in the same order in next round, how can I achieve that?
If you look in column I row 19-22 there are players in the wrong order because the player with the better result goes in first. It should be this order: 9 11 15 16 instead. (if you are ahead in the previous round you will be ahead in the next round)
Another problem I noticed now is that when 2 players has the same lowest score the first player takes both spots as it is now and that doesn't work in real. You see what I mean if you look at player 1 in round 1 and 2 (R1 & R2), in this case it should have been players 1 2 6 and 7 moving on to round 2 and not 1 1 6 7 as it is at the moment.

I am looking for a way to move workbooks to a new instance of excel by the click of a button. For example if I have multiple workbooks open under one instance of excel I do not want to have to minimize this and that... I have multiple monitors and I would like to hit a button on a selected workbook and have it auto open it to a new instance of excel. I image this may not be apart of excel and that it might require a macro to do so.

I have a code (which I have posted below) which I slightly modified and was kindly provided for me by 'antoka05'
It saves all my worksheets to seperate files which works great. :D
What I wanted to know is can I modify this code so that when it saves the worksheets to seperate workbooks that it just saves the values and not the formulas that are in the cells.
Also I need to remove the password from the sheets before they are saved, could this also be incorporated into the code?
