Insert Row- Macro Pasting Format And Formulas Under Last Row
Jul 19, 2006
I need to paste the format and formulas of the last row of data into a new row beneath it. I've seen a bunch of different end row functions, but which one is best and how do I only paste the formulas and formatting?
Macros that will insert formulas into cells, and I've been able to modify the macros to insert additional (simpler) formulas well enough on my own. But I can't seem to find the pattern of where to put the quotation marks! Here's the macro code that will enter my formula, including the formula (and the portion of code that the debugger highlights):
r.Offset(, 1).FormulaR1C1 = _ "=VLOOKUP(rc[-1]"",""'Blend List'""!""A2"":""E250"",5,FALSE)" And here's the code in it's entirety:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim r As Range If Intersect(Target, Columns("d")) Is Nothing Then Exit Sub Application.EnableEvents = False ActiveSheet.Unprotect For Each r In Intersect(Target, Columns("d")) If r.Row 1 Then If Not IsEmpty(r.Value) Then...........
I am creating a time sheet for a supplier & when the supplier enters a date into column A I would like a new line to be inserted below & include the formatting, formulas & data validation from the row above.
I am trying with no progress to join these parts of code to shorter part - to obtain formulas in format = 1 234 (for 1'123,342) in one. note, it is running after Application.Calculation = xlCalculationManual . It will makes my code much easier to read.
I wanted to make a simple macro forinserting a comment, given certain parameters: margins & alignment...but its not working...how would i get this to function properly
I have a spreadsheet whereby in each cell of a row there may be a formula or/& conditional statement applicable. I would like to create a macro that can perform the insert of the new row as well copy down from cell above applicable functions as well as conditional formats that maybe resident. Can this be done?
I would like to do a mass paste of this formula: =VLOOKUP(A23,A2:C9, 2) With the only variable that changes along the way (A24, then A25, etc). But as I paste, (A2:C9), the table array, keeps changing as well, to A3:C10, A4:C11, etc.
How can I prevent this and only have A23 change as I paste?
I have attached the file. The row being copied is row "X" for both buttons. I have 2 buttons in the same worksheet to copy a row and insert the copied row below it. I have this macro running for 2 different rows in the worksheet, assigned to the respective 2 buttons. See my code below.
If I have a formula on Sheet2 which creates conclusions depending on data already existing on Sheet1 and then I need to paste the same formula on Sheet4 in order to get conclusions from Sheet3, then what can I do? Every time I am trying to paste the formula, it connects it with Sheet1 instead of Sheet3
In other words Sheet1: Data Sheet2: Extracted conclusions from Sheet1 data based on a formula Sheet3: Data similarly organized as in Sheet1 Sheet4: How do I extract the same conclusions, but this time from Sheet3?
The formula on Sheet2 is: =INDEX(Sheet1!$E$312:$E$5000;((COLUMNS($A4:B4)-1)*20)+1)
I would like to copy this formula from Sheet2, then paste it to Sheet4 and then to have it appearing as =INDEX(Sheet3!$E$312:$E$5000;((COLUMNS($A4:B4)-1)*20)+1)
I have been asked by my manager to make new shelf labels for all our stationery products for the VAT change in the new year. I'm sure I can get excel to help me make the task quicker but i'm just having trouble with pasting the formulas into the label template that I have to use, I was wondering if anyone could tell me why and if it is possible to do with the way I set the document out. Attached is what I have so far.
if there is a simpler way of doing this. The data sheet is the item description and the old price. The labels sheet i need to be able to print off in that format so i can cut it up and use the labels on our shelves. The formula for the VAT change is on the labels sheet, it works on the old price on the data sheet. I want to be able to quickly apply the formulas and format of the labels to more cells in the sheet so i can print off multiple pages of labels.
I have tried just copying the current formatted cells (A2 to C29) which I have seperatley typed the formulas into (takes ages) and pasting them beneath that. It doesnt continue the formula though. Instead of the next label cells formula carrying on and being Data!A43 it become Data!A29. Perhaps what I want to do is not even possible!
I am trying to copy data from an employee worksheet into a database that tracks the history of that data when they click submit. Everything is working well, except I can't figure out how to change the code to copy and paste values instead of the formulas.
I currently have an array which I populate and paste in a sheet named "T1" using a macro. my current macro uses the rowcount function to determine the used rows and pastes the array from the next available row. The problem i am having is that when I paste this array multiple times, the arrays need to be spaced by a row so that i can differentiate different submissions. this is what i have so far,
Sub CopyData()
Dim Truearray() As String Dim cell As Excel.Range Dim RowCount1 As Integer Dim i As Integer Dim ii As Integer
I've set up a spreadsheet structure at work which is three workbooks linked together.
I created this initially within My documents saved locally to my machine. Now though, I need to move the folder containing these workbooks onto the server to be accessed by others. My problem is that when cutting and pasting the folder, the formulas within the three spreadsheets still refer to their original location within My Documents rather than following the folder to their new location.
I recently received an .xls book which I then saved as .xlsx (I'm using 2010). There are just under 8,000 rows and 20 columns. File Size 1MB.
The only formulas in the sheet are the ones in a column which I inserted and copied down for all 8,000 rows. Nothing too complicated: no arrays or anything. The sheet calculates fine.
I am simply trying to copy and paste these formulas as values (into the same cells), though at every attempt Excel crashes. I tried on smaller sets of the column and just got it to work for a few hundred rows, though it struggles with any more than that.
I opened a different workbook of mine, and tried the same operation on twice as many cells containing complicated, lengthy array formulas and the action completed instantly.
There is no Conditional Formatting in the book, no code, no 'last cell' issue, no Named Ranges, no external links.
I have even copied the data to a new workbook, then copied the text of just one of the formulas over into this book, added an equals sign, copied down and recalculated, then tried to paste as values again. Still crashes.
is far more resource-hungry than I thought, though if that were the case, wouldn't the issue be during calculation (which, as I said, is fine) and not during a paste attempt? No, it can't be this.
I'm trying to copy and paste this formula to multiple cells and am having difficulty doing so without everything in the formula changing.. SUMIF(Bankroll!Q14:Q6000,U143,Bankroll!Y14:Y6000)
I only want the U143 to change to U144, U145, etc. Yet when I copy and paste down the sheet it changes the Q14:Q6000 and the Y14:Y6000 values as well. I've been having to go through and paste the formula one line at a time and then manually change the U143 to the current U cell that I want it to represent in order to keep the rest of the values the same. Is there a faster way than this?
I have code that "mostly" works great. I'm copying columns from one sheet to another sheet, but in different columns. I have unique code for each copy/paste. The source is mostly raw data. However, there are a few columns that are formula-based, and I'm having a problem. I've attached my code, and it works, but it takes 20 minutes to complete.
I'm very new to macros, but I think(?) I know enough that a data source with 2,000 rows and 30 columns shouldn't take 20 minutes to complete the macro calculations. All of the columns (copy and paste) in the code are pure data. The only exception is the column labeled "AI". Is there are shortcut, other than creating new columns in the source data sheet and pasting these results as values? I put the specific pieces of code that I'm referencing in bold.
I have two files: let's say File1 and File2.File1 has one column: datas are in a text format.I copy this column. I want to paste it in my second file.File2 is closed.I open it and i paste my column. Here's my problem. If i let my first file opened, there's no problem(!!): my column is pasted as i want. My datas keep their original format. But, if i close my first file and after, i open File2 and i paste my column, then my datas lose their original format.My column takes a numeric format.I can see it because my datas are on the left in the column.And i can chek it by a sum: if i do 400+200, for example, the result is 600. In the first case(text format), the result is 0.I don't understand why.If someone can explain me this situation, i'd be happy.I repeat: my second file is closed. I open it after my copy in the first file.
I have several cells which I usually need to copy and paste. These cells contain single characters with a different format than the rest, as shown here:
inventar
not just with one word, but several words within a cell. The problem is that when I try to paste a part of a cell having multiple formats, it always pastes the text in uniform format, disregarding the format of those letters having a different format.
Does anyone know of a way to paste text having multiple formats when it consists of a part of a cell's content and not the full cell?
I have switched from an ageing Mac Powerbook, Excel 2004 for Mac, and an out-of-date version of Firefox to an IMac with Excel 2011 for Mac and Safari as a browser. The only reason why I mention this is because I don't know if it was easier to do this on an older platform (one of those bizzare situations where going forwards is actually a step backwards).
In short I like doing things with Sports data in Excel. Usually I would hit my favourite website for pulling sports data (which incidentally I don't know if this has changed as I've been too busy to do much of this kind of thing for about 4 months - or if it is just a different format on a newer machine/different browser);
[URL] ....
The link should be showing NFL results for this year so far (I like the site as it has a handy amount of other sports etc.).
I would usually then go edit/paste special - unicode text and then hit the paste options, use the text import wizard, go delimited, tabs - and usually everything would come in on a row and then I could do what I need to do with it (e.g. use Excel's text functions to get the data - taking spaces out for example - to where I want it to do other things).
The problem I seem to be having now is that when I do the above - things no longer seem to come in on the same row (which makes life difficult for doing things easily with the data). Once things end up on different rows it becomes a pain to do basic things.
In short is there a way round this (or do I need to find another source for my data with tables laid out in a more friendly way to "borrow" data)?
I have a column filled with time data that I want to copy in to a column formatted to a time format (hh:mm:ss), the thing is when i copy the data to it the format does not apply unless i double click each of the brackets, there are 14000 lines so doing it manually is a hastle to say the least, is there a way to apply the time format immediately?
I have backwards co-workers that can't figure out how/why to use conditional formatting and have deigned it "not acceptable".
They've requested I fill in a HUGE spreadsheet and change the font color to red if it meets a criteria.
Simple enough to do with a conditional format that compares my data.
HOWEVER, now I need the individual cells to stay red and remove the conditional format (because conditional formatting "confuses" them). Removing the condition causes the color to go back to black. I've tried all sorts of paste specials (formula/format) to no avail...
I have a consolidation workbook and source files.I would like to convert the data from the source files into a list format in the consolidation workbook.
I have attached a sample of the sheet format of the source files in the attached file, called 'Page 5'. The other 2 sheets are 'Template' and 'Instructions'. The 'Template' sheet is what I imagined would be the list format of the data copied from the 'Page 5' sheet. Instructions is where the lookup table for currency is.
So basically starting from row 8 in 'Template' sheet, I would like to copy and paste from 'Page 5' sheet to 'Template' sheet: - H2 to A8 & B8 - B2 to C8 - According to the list of currency in 'Instructions' sheet, lookup the currency according to operating unit in C8 and paste to D8 - D5-I5 to E8 - row A8-A23 to column F-N
I actually have had a similar problem before, which Derk has helped me here - link: Use Access or XL? (I've decided to start a new thread because this is a more relevant forum).
I have tried to modify the code but I am rather lost as to which part I am supposed to modify.. Note that in this code, the source data is in separate file instead.
Sub add()
Dim wb As Workbook, f As Worksheet, t As Worksheet, j As Integer, k As Integer, n As Integer Dim mty As String, yr As Integer, d As Date, bu As String, cur As String, sTodo As Variant
sTodo = Array("Page 5") 'finish adding the names Application. ScreenUpdating = False Set t = Workbooks("Example1.xls").Worksheets("Template") i = t.Cells(65536, 2).End(xlUp).Row
I've got a large excel spreadsheet that is used for cost calculations and I need to be able to replace the formulas in three specific columns with the value of 0.01. I also need to be able to change the values back to their original formula. My problem is getting the formula back into the cell. The formula begins with "=IF(And" which seems to be where I'm getting most of my errors. So right now I run the code and the value of the cells in the three columns change to 0.01 and when I run it again I'm getting errors. Here is the formula. How should I be entering this in VBA to get this line into my cells? The row numbers will be changing as I go down, but the rest of the formula does not. =IF(AND(E48<>"",AH48<>0),(AH48/E48)*100,0)
There 2 columns, 1 in which you input data and the other which has a formula which uses the data to do a calculation. There are about 30 rows already filled in.
When I go to insert a new row of data, the formula just appear after I type in the input column. If I click on the cell where the formula appeared before I typed in the data, there was no formula there. It is almost like an autofill, excel knows that I am going to copy down the formula. (It also copies down the formatting)
