Generating List Of Combinations With Both Unique / Independent And Dependent Input

I coordinate access requests for several contracts, and I have to list the approved accesses in a list where each line represents one person and one contract. For each access request, there will be an arbitrary number of persons obtaining access to an arbitrary number of contracts.

The input would then be as follows: Joe A and Jill B request access to contracts 1001, 1002 and 1003 ->

Joe A   1001
Joe A   1002
Joe A   1003
Jill B     1001
Jill B     1002
Jill B     1003

To automate this task, I have made a simple macro for generating a combination list of all persons having obtained access to a selection of contracts.

My macro worked well when I only wanted to list unique and independent list items, but now I have been asked to include each person's email address. How I can change my code so that only one email address is copied into my list for each person?

Generating A Combinations List

I have ten numbers (i.e. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) and I'm trying to figure out how to make Excel generate a list of all the combinations possible for these 10 numbers. I'm trying to avoid using a VBA script. Is it possible to accomplish this task only using a function formula? This way I will have the ability to tweak the formula and test different qauntities of numbers (i.e. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 or 44,56,77,33). Is getting a list of all possible combinations to output on a single column with commas between numbers possible with a formula?

Finding All Unique Combinations Of List Of Words?

I have 15 different words that I want to order in as many ways as possible, but only 3 at a time.

So let's say the words are:

cat
dog
elf
clown
monkey
rock
bananas
(etc)

then I want a list that has all of these possible combinations:

cat dog elf
cat dog clown
cat dog monkey
cat dog rock
cat dog bananas
cat elf clown
cat elf monkey
(etc)

until all are listed. I understand there is a huge number, I don't mind having a couple of thousand as long as they are all genuinely unique.

I CAN have elf dog cat, elf cat dog, dog elf cat later on ... it's just the order that needs to be unique not the words in the phrase.

Setup Dependent Cell Based On Contents Of Independent Cell

I'm trying to set up a dependent cell (B) based on what is in the independent cell (A)

If A is blank, B should be blank

If A has any value other than X, B should display a set string Y

If A contains X, B should contain a drop down list with a range of choices.

I've tried setting it up as a dependent validation cell and I've tried using OFFSET, but the best I can do is to get three different drop down lists to populate cell B. One with only string Y, one with only a blank, and one with the range of choices. The problem is in the first two cases above, I want the cell to fill automatically with either blank or string Y -- I don't want them to just be drop down options, with the cell displaying the last value that was input.

I am preparing a template for which I need a combo box. Becaue it is a template I can't have this combo box any specific input range. Because I won't know how long the data column (that wiill be used for input range) will be.

Also the data column will have many duplicates but the combo box needs to show uniques only.

Dependent Drop Down List With DEPENDENT DEFAULT VALUE

Situation:
I have two drop down lists 1) Country and 2) States/province

Country has list: [US, Canada]

If "US" is selected, [Arizona ,Florida, NewYork] is listed in the 2nd drop down list
If "Canada" is selected, [Alberta, Ontario, Quebec] is listed in the 2nd drop down list

Scenario:
First, I select "US" and choose the states to "Florida"
Next I change the country to "Canada" and forgot to choose province
Then, the 2nd dropdown list is changed to [Alberta, Ontario, Quebec],
BUT the current value is still "Florida"

Probem:
Now I have "Canada" and "Florida" selected in the sheet

Question:
If the primary list is changed, can I make the 2nd drop down list to show a default value (e.g. blank or the first entry i.e. Alberta)?

The second one will have a three digit code. Like this:

Example necessary output:

Notice there are no duplicates (e.g., A vs. B / B vs. A). I have found many macros that will create all the duplicates but none that will create only unique.

The examples i've found in the archives give all possible combinations of the same list in a different order

e.g apple, pear, orange, grape.......apple, orange, pear, grape.........apple, grape, orange, pear etc etc etc... THIS IS NOT WHAT I'M AFTER.

i'm after every possible combination starting right at the beginning with single words

e.g

apple, pear
apple, pear, orange

orange,
orange, apple

etc etc you get the idea..... but i do not want repititions like

apple, pear.........pear, apple.

Get All Unique Combinations From 6 Columns (multiple Rows) Into 7th Column

I have a table with 6 columns (A to F) and multiple rows each, with cells containing words. Taking the words in any one cell from each of the columns in order from A to F will form a complete sentence each time. I need a solution to display all unique possible combinations in column G.

The number of rows is different for each column. A successful result in column G has to include cells from all columns (A to F).

I searched this forum and found a few analogous questions/solutions, but nothing close enough for me to apply to my case. I tried using a concatenation formula, but I have to manually edit the formula in each cell to get all unique combinations (and that would mean thousands of times). If I just drag the formula down it will increment all cell rows instead of one cell's row at a time.

On the attached sheet in column X, I am trying to input the Allocation percentage dependent on a number of variables:

Type (Bar, Blank, Coil, Sheet, Special)
Sub Fam Code (2A02, BC02-05, BC99, BZ99)
Sup Category (Arcelor, Independent, Tata/ Corus)

The allocation percentage is based on the below; anything outside of this should result in "Other".

Sheet (BC02/03/04) A=40%, T=40% & I=20%
Coil (BC02 & BC03) A=40%, T=40% & I=20%
Coil (BC04) A=30%, T=50% & I=20%

Example 1:

Generating Random Number List

I have a spreadsheet of 1000+ companies and I want to take a random sampling of 100 of them. I would assume this could be accomplished by auto-filling a numerical value to each line of data (which I did), then scrambling only the column with the numbers (which I can't figure out), and then selecting the entire text and resorting it to put the numbers back in order and then just work with the first 100 rows (which I can do, if I knew how to make the numbers random).

Delete Value Of Dependent List Automatically When Mother-list Gets Manually Deleted?

I'm currently working with 3 dropdown lists depending on each other using data validation and =indirect(). I arranged them like in a top-down approach where you have a mother-list and child-lists (categories-->subCategories-->subCategoryCriteria). The user should easily chose first a category then a subCategory etc... This part works perfectly

My question is: when a user chose in the dropdown list e.g. a category, a subCategory and a subCategoryCriteria and he now maually deletes the value in the highest level, which is the Category (mother-list), all sub level values like subCategory and subCategoryCriteria will stay. It shouldn't be that way, because it's not logical. If you turn a tree upside-down (top-down approach) and cut one of the higher positioned trunks, all lower positioned trunks will fall off as well, right? So, my question is: can I use a conditional formatting or a formula to delete or fade out the value in the lower lists when the higher list value is being deleted?

I tried to use If-formula in combination with indirect in data validation, like =IF(A1="";("");INDIRECT(B1))...just and example.

The value doesnt need to be deleted, it could also be automatically face out like white on white or something. It's just confusing for the user if he deletes the highest choice and the lower choices still stay.

Generating Average From Group Of Numbers In List That Match Two Criteria?

So we had a month long, company paid (woohoo!) "weight watchers" challenge. On 1 worksheet ("Stats"), I have the Name of every Employee (A Column), then their Start Weight (B Column), End Weight (C Column), Department (D Column) and finally Location (E Column).

I know how sensative some people can be about their weight, so I locked the page and created another worksheet named "UI", which will display the "Average End Weight" for each department. So Human Resources would be the department in cell A2 on the UI sheet, with City 1 being the Column Header in cell B1. There are 8 cities (offices) and 23 departments.

So, for cell B2, I want to scan through the "Stats" worksheet and locate all of the cells in the department and location columns that read "Human Resources" and "City 1" respectively. Then grab the "End Weight" for every row that meets these 2 criteria, add them up, and divide by the number of "End Weights" that were grabbed.

My solution would be to make a separate column for each department (and then each city, so essentially 8 columns to represent all the cities for each department), use a nested (maybe 4) IF statements to then list only the end weight if that particular row meets the criteria, then at the bottom of each separate column, add all the shown numbers up and divide, then draw the information from THAT number into the "Average" cell on the UI worksheet. But it isn't very dynamic and if i want to use this sheet next year, there will be more employee info to be added and it would be a mess..further more, it would be...what...23 Departments x 8 Cities x 155 employees = ~28,500 added cells.

I would like to generate a dynamic list of the top five most common text responses in a range. For simplicity sake, let's assume that the range spans cells A1 to A20, and the list is generated in cells B1 to B5. So, essentially, I am seeking five separate formulas. One to calculate the most common text element, one to calculate the second most common text element, one to calculate the third most common text element and so forth.

I am currently working with the two formulas below but finding it incredibly difficult to merge them into a working format.

Series Of Dependent Comboboxes In Userform That Show Unique Values Of Dynamic Tables

This example workbook contains a datatable, which is inputted via a userform. The datatable has 4 columns: Date, Invoice no., Loads, Tonnage. This table is dynamic, as a new row gets entered each time data is entered in the userform. A different userform (the one in the example) has comboboxes which refer to the data in the table. This userform asks the user for the Date, Invoice no., Loads and Tonnage. I want to use comboboxes so that they will advise the input based on the users previous input.

The first combobox asks the user for a data, and should contain a list of all the unique dates that are stored in the table. When the first combobox is inputted, the list for the second combobox will change. The list of the second combobox should be a list of unique invoice numbers, based on the date that has already been entered. The 3rd and the 4th combobox should also show a list of unique values, based on the previously entered date and invoice no.

Example: The first combobox should advise the dates: 4-Nov-14 and 15-Nov-14. User chooses 4-Nov --> second combobox should advise unique invoice numbers based on chosen date: 1252 and 1311. User chooses 1152 --> 3rd combobox should advise unique values based on previous values: 3, 8 and 7. 4th combobox: 57, 23 and 47.
