Graphing Price Elasticty Of Demand & Supply On Same Axes
Apr 18, 2006
For an economics assignment I would like to graph price elasticity with price on the 'y' axis and units on 'x'. I have not found a way to do this in Excel, can someone assist?

Maybe the title shouldn't be simple or I am missing something starring me in the face.
I am trying to make a supply and demand graph, with the following table,
wage supply demand
45,000 200,000 325,000
40,000 220,000 310,000
35,000 250,000 300,000
30,000 290,000 290,000
25,000 310,000 275,000
20,000 320,000 250,000
I can make either a supply or a demand graph without problems, however no matter where I place the vaules, ie wage first, demand, then supply or demand, wage, supply, the graph will not work or look right. The wage must be on the left had side so that the graph complies with standard Supply and Demand. I also need to be abble to make another graph showing what happens with a wage cap.
I can do it on graph paper, put I can not find a way to do it using Office 2007 Word and inserting a graph option and using Excel.

I have a spreadsheet which uses MS Query to import data from our MRP System. This Spreadsheet has all new orders and qtys required per sales order etc. Each Part number may have several sales orders and different qtys for each. I am looking for help to write a fomula which looks the required qty`s for each sales order & part and check another sheet which has all the avaliable stock to sell on it and populate a column next to the qty req`d with what if anything is available.
Both the orders sheet and the stock sheet are MS Queries which refresh at a given interval so cells may change position.
Cutdown Example of Orders Sheet.
Sales Order No. ¦ Part ¦ Qty Req`d ¦
--------------------------------------
1234 ¦ Apple ¦ 12 ¦
6777 ¦ Apple ¦ 16 ¦
7989 ¦ Pear ¦ 4 ¦
cutdown Example of Stock Sheet.
Part ¦Qty in Stock ¦
----------------------
Apple ¦ 12 ¦
Pear ¦ 3 ¦
Now the fomula should bring back the following
Sales Order No. ¦ Part ¦ Qty Req`d ¦ Qty Avaliable ¦
----------------------------------------------------
1234 ¦ Apple ¦ 12 ¦ 12 ¦
6777 ¦ Apple ¦ 16 ¦ 0 ¦
7989 ¦ Pear ¦ 4 ¦ 3 ¦

Once you have created the supply and demand numbers and have put them in a graph or on a chart, how do you find the equilibrium point? Also, how do you show the equilibrium point on a chart.

I have the theoretical set:
year $ %
2003 100 10
2004 120 20
2005 145 30
2006 205 40
2007 300 50
Could I make the year the X-axis and make 2 y-axes on the same graph in excel that each datasets would be correlated to (eg. for money it'd be from 0 to 300 while for percent it'd be from 0 to 50)

I need J22 to multiply based on years in B22 AND increase 5% for each of those years (compounding) after two years (excludes year 1 from 5% increase). In addition the cell needs to remain blank if D22 is blank. B22 = 1, then the stockprice needs to remain the same, and only increase by 5% after year 1.
Currently...
B22 = a number of years indicated by the formula: =IF(A22="","",DATEDIF(A22,I3,"y"))
J22 =IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(D22,stockprices,2,FALSE)),"",VLOOKUP(D22,stockprices,2,FALSE))
Example:
If J22 stockprice lookup is $1000.00, and the number of years listed in B22 is 6, then the reported value in J22 needs to be $1494.40.

I have calculated the implied volatility for different single options using the newton raphson method. But, I also need to calculate the implied volatility which minimizes the sum of squared differences between the observed market price and the model price for each day. I guess one needs to use vectors (jacobian matrix) to do this, but I do not know how to expand the code to be able to do this. Anyone have any idea how this can be done? I have attached the [code] I have used to calculate the implied volatility for one option.

The analysis basically has 2 data components to it:
The 1st part, is a basic transaction list of shopping items bought through the year. Each transaction's shopping item also has the quantity of that item purchased at that time.
The 2nd part, is a pricing sheet for all the different types of shopping items. The pricing sheet has different prices for different quantities at which the item is purchased.
What I am trying to do is to find the relevant price for shopping item, which depends on not only what the item is, but also the quantity. In point form, it should follow the logic below:
1) Identify the item in the shopping list (worksheet 1) from the list of prices (worksheet 2)
2) Find quantity in the prices worksheet that is closest to the quantity in the shopping list (i.e. where the difference between the quantity on transaction list and the quantity on the pricing sheet is the least)
3) Pull the price for this "closest quantity"
I have uploaded a worksheet showing the structure of that data.

Is there some VB code I need to do this, or can it just be a few simple formulas?

So I have this given: Screen Shot 2014-06-23 at 3.53.01 PM.jpg and I am trying to fit my data to the graph I have in excel below. There is only one x-axis; suction pressure. However, there y values are dependent on two variables, discharge pressure and outdoor air temp.
How can I make the data on this sheet: Screen Shot 2014-06-23 at 3.53.05 PM.png
dependent on both axes?

I need to make a spreadsheet on excel which shows the production schedule of a product over 4 days.
Then I need to make a supply ordering sheet which shows how much supplies are needed to do the above task and how much each item in the supply list will cost and when the items would need to be ordered.

I receive the following error whenever I try to run a macro in Excel: "System Error &H80040111 (-2147221231). classFactory cannot supply requested class." This is immediately followed by "Out of memory"
I was eventually able to stop the error from occurring by removing all forms containing a listview control in my macro file.
I have tried repairing my Office installation, uninstalling and reinstalling Office, and reregistering MSCOMCT2.OCX but nothing seems to work.

my VBA code does some simple editing. Something I would like it to do is make the x-axis and y-axis lines be editable. What I mean is say for editing the Plot area background you would use this
ActiveChart.PlotArea.Format.Line.ForeColor.RGB = RGB(0, 0, 0)
I am looking for the equivalent to do the x and y axis lines.

I am currently using the following formula to calculate the average weekly demand of a product:
=SUM($G8:$CF8)/COUNTIF($G8:$CF8,">=0"))
It works fine, but sometimes the data I'm analysing doesn't span the full horizon (78 weeks). What I therefore want, is for the COUNTIF part to recognise the last populated Cell in the array, and to use the length of the array up to that point to calculate the average. Put another way, if I only have 52 weeks of data (the last populated Cell is $BF8), I want the COUNTIF to calculate based on 52 weeks and not 78 weeks.

I've got an excel worksheet that contains charts 5-14, each with different max axes on primary and secondary scales. Right now the code below works to adjust the axes, however I have pasted this into a script 10 times, once for each chart with different references to the chart number, the max primary axis and max secondary axis. how I could write the following as a loop so that I don't need to have to repeat this routine in my code?
Sub ChartsBillingsShare()
ActiveSheet.ChartObjects("Chart 5").Activate
With ActiveChart
.HasAxis(xlValue, xlPrimary) = True
.HasAxis(xlValue, xlSecondary) = True
End With
ActiveChart.Axes(xlValue).Select
With ActiveChart.Axes(xlValue)
.MinimumScale = 0
.MaximumScale = Range("Y6").Value
End With.................................

All data is located within one book. I have two sheets with material codes in each sheet which include pricing (existing and current)
Sheet1 (has existing material codes plus existing pricing) Has about 1200 lines
Sheet2 (has current material codes plus current pricing), has about 36000 lines
I need to cross check if the material code (taken from sheet1) are still available in sheet2, and if they are, copy the current price back to sheet1. The current price needs to be pasted back into sheet1 (next to the existing price). If the material code doesn't exist (for whatever reason, in sheet2), the program needs to move onto the next line and leave the current price for that material code blank. The program should finish once all the lines in sheet1 are completed. I have attached a sample of what I'm trying to do,

I have have a large array of prices (across rows) and am looking for the closest price to match a price that I have been provided with. It's a basic benchmarking exercise on a row by row basis....and the price can be positive or negative. Is there a clean way to reference the closest price?
I have come across a fair amount of solutions, but none worked optimally - particularly the =INDEX(Data,MATCH(MIN(ABS(Data-Target)),ABS(Data-Target),0)) approach....it just didn't work for some lines, and only worked for values less than source price in other instances.
I would also like to reference the source on the next column.

Im plotting data on a Line-Column 2 Axes Chart which works really well with 4 data series (2 column, 2 Line) but when adding a fifth data series, the fourth disappears from view. I can see its still there cos I can display the values but I cant get the line to appear. The values for the 5th series are also similar to other series values so its not like the chart cant display it....are there limits to the number of series on such a chart?

I am trying to graph dimension measurements that are automatically added as a new worksheet upon completion of a CMM program. Do I need to move all of my data to one work sheet to be able to graph it or is it possible to call the same cell on multiple sheets? Also is there a way to set the graph up so that it updates the information every time a new sheet is added? I have a sample workbook attached that only list one dimension the actual workbook will have many dimensions listed. Sheet 1 is blank and sheets 2-4 contain the information from the CMM.

I have a spread sheet that we input data on and produce a simple graph. When I started we plotted these graphs by hand on chart paper. When we started using spread sheets I learned how to graph the problem is these guys we have working in the field don't know how or care to learn how to make a simple xy graph.
Six months ago I started automating a workbook so our field guys could just plug in numbers and have the needed graph, I put check boxes to select the points to calculate the slope and intercept. I hard coded to plot to say line 21 then at the end of the test we always have a zero point that we don't plot so I put that on line 22 then have a macro to hide everything before I print it.
I think I would like to dynamically select the data for graphing but I'm not sure about the best way to do this. My first thought is to key on the x axis column with a loop and graph data from zero until the x looses value.

I have a graph / time problem
I have a program that is spitting out raw data to me that I would like to be able to put into a graph form in a efficient manner, but I’m not sure the best way to accomplish this.
Here is what I’m working with:
I am getting a list of time date stamps that appear as follows.
11/30/2006 6:02:25 AM
11/30/2006 6:02:36 AM
11/30/2006 6:02:40 AM and so forth.
Each stamp represents a hit to a link.
What I would like to be able to do is graph the number of hits per hour verse the time of day hit. Showing the time on the x & the number of hits per that hour on the y axis.
I can convert the time to decimal, but I still need to find a way to get excel to graph the sum of hits per hour.

If I graph a straight line and on several points on this line I want to graph rectangles, how would I calculate the corners of these rectangles.
The rectangles will not always stand 90 degrees on the line. This difference from 90 degrees is in cell L6 The direction of the line is known and the sides of each rectangle is known as well as the center of the rectangle (in meters N or S and E or W). Currently I have the direction of the line in cell L5, the long side of the rectangle in cell L3 and the short side of the rectangle in cell L4. The centers of the rectangles are in rows 1 and 2 of columns M, N, O etc. For instance cell
M1 = 450 (N) and cell M2 = 400 (E). The corners are to be calculated in reference to the values in these cells.
I have been calculating it long hand with a calculator but that takes me a long time and they tend to change things quite regularly. I have to incorporate this with macros that draw the line sition but I have that. Going clockwise from the right top around they would be called corner A, B, C and D.
