Sumproduct And Sum Array Formula (calculate The Salary Payments To Temporary Employees In A Particular Work Unit)

Jul 16, 2009

I have a spreadsheet representing a month where I am trying to figure out different scenarios for employees. One scenario is that an employee could have to move to a temporary position. In that case, I need to calculate the salary payments to temporary employees in a particular work unit. I've tried several different approaches to this problem, but am still getting the error.

One method has been using this sumproduct formula:

How To Get Sumproduct To Work When Divisors Are Zero

I had thought

=SUMPRODUCT((DU23:DU34/DU56:DU67*DU89:DU100)*(DU89:DU1000)) would work but that gives #n/a

my program sheet looks something like this:

I need a double condition formula to check the date, if matches the date Column (A), and matches product Column (b), then returns Column (C) which is the doc#.
I Could easily do it if it is a sum product formula, but in this case, it is alpha numberic.

date: 14 Jun (dd / mm)
product -- Doc#
apple ---- ac21 (so what formula do I put here?)
Orange --- abc2 (formula?)

date --- product --- Doc#
12 Jun -- apple ----- abc1
12 Jun -- Orange --- ab12
14 JUn -- Apple ----- ab21
14 Jun -- Orange ---- abc2

Combine SUMPRODUCT With INDEX And MATCH But It Doesn't Work?

Dec 15, 2013

Now I'm trying to improve the functionality of the file attached above.I've attached the file again with another drop-down menu. What I'm trying to do is to have a sum of all the months between the two months indicated in the drop down menu.For example by picking two months from the drop down menus, I want to know the sum of the values between Jan-Mar (Jan, Feb and Mar), or for example Jul-Oct (Jul,Aug,Sep and Oct)...

I've tried to combine SUMPRODUCT with INDEX and MATCH but it doesn't work. I want to build upon this formula:

[Code]....

I forgot to mention that I have multiple strings (column E) which are NOT unique. Basically "VLOOKUP way" won't work, rather it should be "SUMIF way".

In the attached file I've added one additional row (r19), which is the same as r18, just to try how the summing will work.

Work Out A Formula For My Spreadsheet Which I Use To Work Out Cutting Lists For Timber Frames

i need to work out a formula for my spreadsheet which I use to work out cutting lists for timber frames. I need it to work out if the width of a job is for eg 2400mm i need to work out how many timber studs I need so the space between each stud is between 400mm and 500mm and this will need to work for a range of different sizes of frames. I have it written at the moment and it just devides the width by 400 and gives me a amount of studs but it would work much better if it could space them between 400 & 500.

SUMPRODUCT / AND Formula

Jul 11, 2007

I'm currently using a series of SUMPRODUCT formulas to populate a summary page from a large data source. This works fine in the most part, however one part of the summary page calls for a number of different criteria to be counted within the same data range. I'm currently using a work around by having three seperate SUMPRODUCT formulas on hidden rows, and then totaling their answers to give me the result I want, however I wondered if there was a cleaner and better way to do this? An exampel of the formula I am currently working with is below:

=SUMPRODUCT(('Filtered Data'!$A$2:$A$10000="Stock-Out")*('Filtered Data'!$I$2:$I$10000="Open")*('Filtered Data'!$Q$2:$Q$10000="A"))

The final part of the formula is what is causing me the problem - I would like it to look for and count occurances of "A" , "B" , & "C"

Formula Which Will Work Out 48 Permutations

Jan 17, 2007

I need to work out a formula which will work out 48 permutations.

There are three headings: Impact, Probability, Risk Category:

ImpactProbabilityRisk Category
VHM = 1
VHH = 1
VHVH = 1
HH = 1
HVH = 1
VHL = 2
HM = 2
MH = 2
MVH = 2
HL = 3
LVH = 3
MM = 4
LH = 4
ML = 5
LL = 5
LM = 5

The formula I need is: if Impact is "L" and probability is "M", then return answer = "5".

The thing is - there are 48 possible answers - and im not sure what formula you could type into 1 cell - which would answer this.

Simplifying A Sumproduct Formula

Feb 8, 2010

I'm using Excel 2003. I have been using SUMPRODUCT to look at too compare columns and data that is contained in both. Column L11:L52 contains the numbers 1 to 4 and Column K11:K52 contains the word YES in some cells. I just want to look and see if text is contained in a row in column L is it contained in that row in column K. This is the formula I'm using but it seems over complicated and I'm sure there is a way of just looking if the cell contains information without worrying what it is.

=SUMPRODUCT(--(Data!$L$11:$L$52=1),--(Data!$K$11:$K$52="YES"))+SUMPRODUCT(--(Data!$L$11:$L$52=2),--(Data!$K$11:$K$52="YES"))+SUMPRODUCT(--(Data!$L$11:$L$52=3),--(Data!$K$11:$K$52="YES"))+SUMPRODUCT(--(Data!$L$11:$L$52=4),--(Data!$K$11:$K$52="YES"))

SUMPRODUCT Formula- Getting #VALUE! Result

Nov 21, 2007

I'm trying to use the sumproduct formula to query 3 columns: I want it to look in column E for either a "P" "C" or an "A", multiply the corresponding numbers in column D and F, and put the sumproduct total in cell C5, D5 and E5 for each formula below. The problem is that I keep getting #VALUE! result. It's because some cells in the range have #N/A in them, but I can't control that.

Here is my formula:

=SUMPRODUCT(--(E9:E70="P"),D9:D70,F9:F70)

=SUMPRODUCT(--(E9:E70="A"),D9:D70,F9:F70)

=SUMPRODUCT(--(E9:E70="C"),D9:D70,F9:F70)

How can I use this formula if for example cells D15-17 have no values or are #N/A?

I have this now:

but it returns a value of 0 which is incorrect.

What I need to do is have the formula return a sum of all of the fields in colG that are >5 within a date range. Once I find that # I have to divide it by another field and multiply by 100 to get the percent.
