I have a VBA working fine to convert 30 files from cvs to xls, but it keep asking me the files is already exists in this location, Do you want to replace it. I have to repeat this step 30 times.
Sub CSVtoXLS()
Dim wb As Workbook
Dim CSVPath As String
Dim CSVCount As Integer
I have recently finished a program in excel and when my users dbl click the icon on the desktop, excel loads with their splash screen. Is there any way of replacing their screen with one of my own?
I have had my server removed that I had my default file location, when I go in to change any of my options the first thing it does is go look for this file location and brings back an error stating it cannot find the server. I cannot find anywhere else that I could change it.
I am setting up a "save as" macro that saves a file by replacing another file in a folder. Even though the macro has been recorded by approving the replacement (the prompt appears "the file --- already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?"), when I run the macro, I am again prompted about replacing the file. Is it possible to avoid the prompt so the file is automatically saved by replacing the named file?
I cant seem to get the file filter to be what I want. I want to et the default file filter string to "MOT*.xls". With the code below I get "*.*" and no option for my own filter value.
is it possible to change the settings on your computer so that when you open Excel, it opens it as a certain type of file? I like working with .xlsb because I work with large sets of data all of the time and find that they open faster and are faster to work with. Currently every time I open Excel, it opens as .xlsx.
I'm using Excel 2010. When I go into the Excel Options, to the Save option and try to type in a specific network drive in the Default File Location: box, I click OK and then it doesn't save the changes. I close Excel down all the way and then restart a new Excel session and it keeps going back to "LibrariesDocuments..."
It doesn't seem to be just related to Excel...having the same issue in Word and Access 2010 as well.
Is there any way of making the default directory location for application.getopenfilename work properly with shared locations?
Presently I use ChDrive then Chdir but I cant use ChDrive if workbook is opened from a link in email for example. Please see below
I have a VBA routine that asks the user to load an existing file on startup.
I want the window for the file selection to open at the same folder every time. (the folder is on a shared drive)
The workbook to run the code will always be located on this same share at a fixed location.
My present code builds the path to the desired opening folder by collecting the drive letter from the current working directory (which has to be done as everybody maps there shares to different letters here, its not guaranteed to be the same! )
then i ChDrive to this letter.
Then I ChDir to letter plus myKnowndirPath
This works fine, the window always opens at my required folder. But only as long as the user has navigated to the folder containing the spreadsheet and then ran it from there. Because that way a drive letter is available.
However i found that if i sent a link to the workbook or its home folder. And the user opens the link or a windows explorer from that link and then runs file from there.
Then it stops working beacause there is no local drive letter in the working directory path. i.e. working directory shows as
Is it possible to set the default page to open when clicking the file button? In particular, I use the recents feature a lot but never have I looked at the information on the information page. Everytime I click the file button I have to then select recents which is annoying.
I use an image analysis program ImagePro which can call Excel within it's macro language (which seems to be visual basic). I looked up on this site how the change the drive (ChDrive command). But still when the Excel section (after With oExcel) executes the default file location in the browser is in My Documents on the C: drive.
Prior to this code Excel has been launched by this ImagePro macro, and a file Cumberland Template has been opened from the C: drive. Now I would like to do a Save As, but have Excel start at the I: drive location.
End Sub Control sheet B1 = SG999 Control sheet B2 = Product Description
EG - SG999 Prod Description.xlsm
Now here's the problem -
Very occasionally some users may edit the Prod Description & then need to re-save
So i need to create some code which looks for an element of the current file name in a Directory (O:PHC BomsDropbox - Stage & Gate) EG "SG999" (Which could be 5 or 6 characters in length (if we go over 1000)
Delete this file, replaces it with the new file with the edited information.
I am working on a spreadsheet that will be referencing approximately 20-30 separate workbooks which all have identical sheet / column structure and have a consistent file naming convention. ("###-YYYY") Since, this is referencing separate files and not sheets with this workbook, I cannot use INDIRECT. However, I should be able to use index / match referencing provide instructions for users to copy a set of cells down and the globally change the file name. The problem is that the file directory pops up with each instance and the user has to manually select or confirm the file.
There would be approximately 15 cells with a formula similar to this example and would want to change the two instances of "403" to a new 3-digit code, say "444". Then as each year cycles over, we'd want to change all instances of 2014 to 2015.

I need the above data to be replaced (TEXT File) in the below BLUE highlighted areas
TEXT FILE
Business Name Address 1 City, State Zip < website details will be placed> Business Name Address 1 City, State Zip Phone < website details will be placed> < website details will be placed> Business Name < website details will be placed> City < website details will be placed>
The final output should be creation of 10 TEXT (.txt) files as per the record count in CSV file in the above Text Format.
I have a file that I keep importing into Excel that shows up in Column A. The Range typically varies to how short or how long the end of the file is. But every time I import a file in, the last 20 rows are the same. The 20 rows I want to replace with other values on another sheet. This is a simple example:
SHEET_1 COLUMN A 1 2
[Code]....
I would want to replace the numbers with the letters. The biggest thing is if I can filter or have excel find the end of the file (using a shift+crtl+End) or something and have a formula on sheet2 that it can reference; then replace. Any way to have excel automatically find the end of the file and replace values without manually doing it.
I have a file where the links to external spreadsheets need to be updated on a monthly basis. There are a couple of hundred cells containing links along the lines of: =IF(WEEKDAY(F2)=1,E11,IF(WEEKDAY(F2)=7,E11,'J:DAILYDaily ReportUKSeptember 2006[daily_file_AsAt_01Sep2006.xls] Stock - Consolidated'!$G$5))
I want to be able to enter a month and year and have all the links update...i.e if I type in October 2007 I want the links to change to:...............
What I am trying to do is that I have an excel file with macros and it is a read-only file. In order for the user to save, I want them to only be able to save as a .xlsx file as it disables all macros. If for whatever reason, the user wants to save the file as another .xlsm file, they should be allowed but before they save, a "are you sure you want to save as .xlsm?" message should pop up.
All the options in the save as box should still be available in case they want to save in that particular format. Just that the .xlsx should be the default.
I have a file with 300k lines of SKU data. This is data by month for 12 months (so roughly 25K SKUs per month, with changes in SKUs each month.) I take this data and pivot it and drop it into a file.
I noticed last month when I prepared that the SKUs have names next to them, and sometimes the information is pull by the name instead of the SKU. Unfortunately, in the master data, someone entered different names in a few of the months. So for example, in some months SKU 0012 is Green B and in other months it's Green Beans. I need the names to be the same.
Is there a quick way to fix this given that I'll have 12 records and maybe 3 will be one name and 9 will be there other? Finding and replacing every one is a chore because on pivot there are 40k. I don't think I can do a quick remove duplicates because it would remove multiple months. I just want each SKU to have the same name.
If I write a multi-line text in a cell (then go down with alt+enter) and after copy the cell pasting on Notepad, it display before inverted commas and after textual content.
Instead, if I select directly the content from the formula bar, it isn't happen.
Do exist a way for copy and paste directly from the cell without select from the formula bar?
So what I am looking for is to put a macro behind button 1 which will do the following
Enter A Default Value Of 123 In The Yellow Boxes (B7:K7) If They Are Blank When The User Clicks The Button Performs A Search And Replace To Replace The Values 01-01-1990 With B8, 02-01-1990 With C8 Etc Until K8 Output The Contents Of Sheet 2 To A Text File (In XAI Format) In The Following Order A1:A100, B1:B100, C1:C100
This problem has come up fairly frequently lately, and I'm not sure how to fix it, or if this is by design...but in Excel 2003 I can't seem to do a "Find and Replace" based on the value of a cell. I can do a find, based on cell value, but the moment I change to the replace tab, the "values" and "comments" are missing from the "look in" dropdown.
I've only noticed this when I'm trying to replace on a filtered list, so I'm not sure if that is part of the issue.
Perhaps an alternative way of arriving at the same goal. Basically I have a worksheet with a number of filtered columns. They are filtered just right, using custom filtering, and so I do not want to undo the filters. In some columns I have formulas that are returning #VALUE! errors. I'd like to replace all of these cells with NA.
I recently became owner of a spreadsheet with some issues, and I am trying to make it useful. Each row has a URL of a blog post, and I want to extract the date from it (which is present in each URL) while getting rid of the rest of the URL. I was able to get rid of everything up to the year (which comes first), but then the URL continues, for example, 2013/05/16/the-rest-of-the-url/ and I would like to just have 2013/05/16 remain.
I am trying to use find and replace with the find box reading 2013/??/??/*/ and replacing it with 2013/??/?? which effectively erases everything else in the url, but leaves ?? instead of the numbers. Is there any way to have it so that it keeps whatever was in the original box?
Trying to repeat a 550 or so character statement with a find/replace however I am getting type mismatch errors. When I use a smaller message in the "replace" it works.
I need it to post a message exactly as long as what I have in there. How do I get it to work?
Need assistance with the code for catching errors when using the find / replace function in excel? In particular, I am trying to write code to break to an error message when the value or string searched for isn't found in the find / replace. At the minute I have just copied the standard code using a macro and all this does is return a message box saying X entries replaced.
I have values in row A and I have values in row C. I want to create a loop to look up xxx and replace it with the values consecutively in row C. Look at example for a better Idea. I found a way to find and replace, but I not sure how to use it with qoutes. I was thinking maybe I dont even need row A and just supply a list and excel could have the chunk of data in the code itself.
I am trying to create a macro where it finds a a certain word in a column for example C. What i want it to do is find anything that says FWD_EUR and then replace that cell (e.g C2) with CASH_EUR_FWD and after it has done that it replaces the adjacent cell (e.g. D2) with EUR_FWD. I then want this to do the same with FWD_USD to CASH_USD_FWD and adjacent cell to USD_FWD.
I'm wanting to use Excel's built in replace function to replace ANY date with "Call:"
I'm not going to go into details about why, but I cannot use a code, as I only want to change them at specific times.
The dates are currently formatted as 12/09/2009. So I need to change the 12/09/2009 and any other date there may be to "call:" without having to go through every possible date.
