I have an Excel file with text records, 1000s of lines long Trancriptions of Customer sales reps and Customers, or Distributors. All data is in Collum A.
Each Record has 7-10 Entries

I've created a custom toolbar and populated it with a custom button. I have created a macro and it resides in ThisWorkbook. The macro is assigned to the custom button and the toolbar attached to the workbook. So far, so good. If I copy the workbook and rename it, when I click the button to run the macro it launches the original workbook and runs the macro. The macro effects changes on the renamed workbook copy. The macro name found in the assign macro dialogue starts with the original workbook name. The same effect if the macro resides in a module or sheet. Any known way to have the macro name change along with the renaming of the workbook such taht it refers to the currently opened workbook macros? Regards.

Adding ' in the beginning of a line converts the rest into comment line. I wonder if there is an easy way to convert a huge area into comment line to try something on code. I couldn't find such an option in the menu.

Looking to perform a search on a folder of all files containing a string; example: Item#. Would like the vb application to return the following for each entry found:
FileName, DateLastModified, [Entire Line] the character string was found on.
Brass Solution: Search Excel files only
Silver Solution: Search Excel and Word files
Gold Solution: Search Excel, Word, and .PDF files

Our small family business has a mailing campaign that we track with excel. However, we're very concerned about users opening the macro-filled master spreadsheet. Instead, we'd like a macro to do everything for them.
When a letter comes back in the mail with a bad address, the user types the Street number and street name such as "1234 Main St" into $A2 of c:dropbox eturned.xlsm, presses the macro button, and it should do the following:
Opens and Searches "Sheet1", "column S", in the file c:dropboxmaster1.xlsm, and finds the LAST instance of the address typed.Selects that entire rowCopies the entire row.Pastes the contents into the row of the active cell in the destination spreadsheet, overwriting what was there before. Such as $2:$2 if the address was typed in $A2.In the master1.xlsm spreadsheet, sets the entire copied row color to "gray".closes master1.xlsm and saves changes.
The end result is that the user now has an identical row of information in their spreadsheet, and the master spreadsheet's row is colored gray indicating it has been completed.
Other notes:I'm open to more efficient steps than this if you have them.There are approx 5,000 records to search through in master1.xlsx at any given time.

I have a list of 20 cities in K1:20 and they can be selected from a drop down menu in column A2:A22. I want then to randomly pick 6 out of 20 and these 6 cities must to appear in a line A1, B1, C1, D1, F1, and G1
On cell A1 I have used the
IF ( A2=K1,K1, IF(A3=K1,K1...................A22=K1,K1,IF(A2=K2,K2......A22=K3,K3)
It seem to be an endless formula is there another way to make it easy ???

I manage an monthly inventory spreadsheet with over 100 various items in the master list. However in any single month there may be only 5 or 10 active items that need to be reported on. How do I develop a macro that will check the "items on hand" column and delete the entire row if the quantity is "0". My report is limited to showing only items on hand and not the entire list of items.

how I can change the color of the comment indicators in an
Excel spreadsheet so I can tell who wrote the comment. This would help me and
my secretary to be able to do our work and be able to tell who's comment it
is. We are in different lacation and can't always talk to each other on the
spur of the moment. If we can change the color of the comment indicator then
it would be simple to be able to see at a glance who's comment it is.

I am looking to have a select few cells generate a comment when the user changes their value. I don't want the entire sheet to be affected as it will only apply to the header row of columns J:P.
I'm not sure if it matters but I have the worksheet protected and the cells in question are unlocked.

The comment boxes keep changing shape and location in my spreadsheet. Some are completely smashed together, while others are extraodinarily wide. I had them all to the right of the cell they applied to; but now they are all over the place.

i changed the shape of "Comment" box with edit shape. However when i right click the updated shape and click on Set Autoshape Default it does nothing. When I insert a new comment it is back to old shape.

Is there a way to comment code without having to introduce ' before each line? Very much like in C language, we use /* to open comment lines and */ to close comment lines. I know we can use _ [underscore] but I find it not very pratical. Both solutions for comenting in VBA aren't very pratical, specially when copying and pasting coments from a text editor for example.

I'm trying to create code where a user can input criteria into a cell then run a macro. The macro would then use that criteria to filter the pivot table. I have attached an example. The first portion, using date to filter the current page - pivot item is working. I need to creating the code to use the "supplier" to filter the pivot items on the row. As a note, both the Date and Supplier cells are named references.

how to copy the contents of multiple comment boxes and paste in a single comment box.
The big picture is that I have a number of cells with numerical values in and text in comment boxes. I want to be able to click a button to copy the contents of the comment boxes and paste them, along with the numerical value from the cell, into a single comment box, ordered by highest to lowest value within the comment box, then delete the original cells and comments.
I am quite new to VBA but have been coping quite well so far with information of the web and analysing recorded macros.

I have a Multi-Select Active-X Control Listbox and an associated Button. I am trying to create a dynamic Select ALL, Clear All Button. Clear All Function Works, but Select All triggers the Change Event for the Listbox.
figuring out a way to either
1. Disable the Change event until the "Select all" loop is completed or
2. Find a way to write the action for the Button directly, such that the click event is programmed as part of the Change event, and everything is done in one.
