I was wondering if i could get a hand with inserting a file. Is there a way to insert the file and have it placed a relative distance from the insert button without using cell references?
I am running WinNT and need to find the folder containing the default icons available for use on buttons in the toolbar window. I can copy the image but it saves as a picture (device independent bitmap). I want to be able to send the icon to other people so they can put it in their directory and choose to select it.
I went to record a macro but I can't seem to get the relative reference button anywhere. I am using Excel 97 - does anyone know why this might be or how I can get it back?
The following code is for a macro button I have setup, but it is in text only form. I want to add an icon to the text. Also, are there other icons to use than the lame ones from Microsoft?
Dim myButton As CommandBarButton Set myButton = Application. CommandBars("Worksheet Menu Bar").Controls.Add myButton.Caption = "Hours Entry" myButton.Style = msoButtonCaption myButton.BeginGroup = True myButton.OnAction = "Show_"
I have a file that has 114 rows of data. One for each office I'm working with. I need to insert 6 rows in between each of those rows and type text into some of the fields. I recorded a macro (since I don't know how to write one), but it uses a static location for the rows and data, as opposed to a relative location. So, what happens is, I get the same data entered over and over again. Also, even if I get this to work right with a relative location, I still would have to run it 114 times. I'd like to create one macro that would do the entire document. Here's what I've recorded: .....
I received this code from an example I found once upon a time that was originally submitted by someone else. Right now the code enters the current date in a cell of the same row as the checkbox when it's checked. I need to revise it, or come up with something similar, that will reference the value of a cell when it is in the same row as the button (from the Forms toolbar) that is clicked to activate the macro. First of all, I don't know how to reference a Forms button in VBA.
Sub Process_CheckBox() Dim cBox As CheckBox Dim LRow As Integer Dim LRange As String LName = Application.Caller Set cBox = ActiveSheet.CheckBoxes(LName) ' Find row that checkbox resides in LRow = cBox.TopLeftCell.Row LRange = "B" & CStr(LRow) 'Change date in column B, if checkbox is checked If cBox.Value > 0 Then ActiveSheet.Range(LRange).Value = Date 'Clear date in column B, if checkbox is unchecked Else ActiveSheet.Range(LRange).Value = Null End If End Sub
Here is some other code I already created. Unfortunately, because I don't know how to do the row reference, I had to create 25 different macros, which just bulks up the size of my file and slows it down. But here is what I'm trying to accomplish in my macro:.............
I am updating a wsheet via a form using vb to locate next empy row etc. The issue I have is with the formula's no matter how I try I cannot get the formula to increment with each row. I know I can drag and auto fill on the sheet but I want to use vb if poss. eg
Previous entry to sheet:- A1=1 B1=2 c1=A1+B1(formula)
New entry via form selecting next empty. A2=(updated from form.) B2=(Updated from form.) C2=(Update code VB)
This is all okay and functional the problem starts from here I so far have been unable to increment the formula in c1 from A1+B1 to A2+B2 using vb, is this possible or am I just chasing my tail.
I have created a List in excel of various tasks. (See attached example.) Each row contains one cell with a function which equals the cell above it and to the right. So the function for cell C3 would be D2. The only importance is that the cell mirrored is always the cell one above and to the right. However, now I would like to be able to rearrange this List, but the “one up and to the right” function will now be all over the place.
Is someone aware of a function which will target a relative location instead of an exact cell?
I am using VB to insert a function into a cell on an excell worksheet. The relative references work fine. For the absolute reference, I want to use a named range (LowTotal). If I simply put the name into the function, then I just get the name as text in the function. The second insert formula is were the named range is intended to go. Here is the code so far...
I need to know how to use the varriable name in the .formulaR1C1, so that VB knows it is a variable and not just text....
I had a quick question for something that should be simple but I can't figure it out. I have a column of sorted values, it goes
A A A A A B B B B B
and I want to insert a row to separate the A's from the B's. But there will be a random number of A's. I can figure out how to count where the A's end. But I can't figure out how to insert a row. Any suggestions? I tried the two below but they don't seem to work. The for section is counting the A's, and it works, it's what comes next that's giving me a headache!
I have a formula that works fine in the cell of an Excel spreadsheet but I'm struggling to translate it into VBA (your help please).
The cell formula is:
=If(B2="", "", B2 & " (version: " & F2 & ")")
I want to iterate through all rows in my spreadsheet (about 2000) incrementing the relevant row numbers in the formula @ each pass - eg changing B2 -> B3 -> B4 etc and F2 -> F3 -> F4 etc where column 'B' contains the name of the product and column 'F' contains the version number, resulting in "Product Name (version: 123)" per row.
The closest I've got to this is:
Sub LookupNameInColumnA() Range("A2").Select Dim i As Integer For i = 1 To Selection. CurrentRegion.Rows.Count - 1 ActiveCell.Formula = "=IF(B2="""", """", B2 & "" Version: 999"")" ' problem line? ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select Next i End Sub
This works OK'ish but I want each line to reflect the different data per row. I'm struggling to increment row 'B' and row 'F' in the formula, having tried "B & i + 1" and "F & i + 1" but am getting confused with quotes and concatenating strings within formulas.
Hello I'm looking for some clarification about how to use "= SUM(RC:RC)". I don't understand what the RC:RC represents. I thought that this was the directions for where to "position" the formula, but I think I'm missing something.
I was able to include the correct cells that I need summarized, but the answer is not right; it's zero.
I need a macro that will look in column B of a worksheet for the value "Grp2" and begin inserting rows underneath that value based on a variable that I will pass to it. The variable will be how many rows to insert. For example if value "Grp2" occurs in cell B19,beginning at cell B20 I want to insert a specified number of rows.

See attached file - I would like to use the "Create Parts issue Report" Button to create worksheet titled "Parts Issue Report" based on the pulldown menu in cell B1 tab "Vehicle data" so each pulll down will generate a different "Parts Issue Report" when clicking the "Create Parts Issue Report" button. I think it needs to be a looping VBA to go thru the "Vehicle Data" rows and columns looking for the keywords "late" or past" as I only want a report created on that criteria. The output criteria I have label in the tab "Parts Issue Report" I can explain further if needed.
I need to send out an order form (spreadsheet) to 100's of people that need to complete the form and email back to me as an attachment. If I was completing the order form myself I would use the "email" icon that I have pinned to my Quick Access Toolbar (QAT). However, most of the recipients don't even know the Toolbar exists.
Is there a way I can insert an icon / hyperlink in the spreadsheet that does the same thing as the QAT icon. I can insert text to say "click here to email your order" (or similar).
I need to keep it in an excel format and an icon is so much better that asking them to save to their hard-drive and attach to an email, etc.
The QAT icon is exactly what is needed but I need to provide a spreadsheet that works for folk who haven't got the icon.
I am building a code based on a command button in a row, which will check is a worksheet exists (message), if not create a worksheet from a template (from another worksheet specific to a on a cell value in the same row), rename the worksheet based on a cell value in the same row.
I am having some success for each task with exception to relative cell values .....
As the code will be specific to the row (one button per row) Questions:
how to i determine the location of the button that is clicked? (I assume once this is established i can use to pull values in the same sheet on certain columns....?)
I want cell D28 to be text of the location to the file selected through CommandButton1.. tia
This is what I have so far:
Code: Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim browse As Long Set Application.GetOpenFilename("All PDF files (*.pdf*), *.pdf*", , _ "Choose a Filename") = browse ActiveSheet.Range("D28") = browse End Sub
I am looking for some code which will return the location of the form button which is being clicked on to activate the macro. I would like to avoid using an active.x button if at all possible.
In this way I can use the same macro on a column of buttons to trigger an action based on adjacent cell contents.
e.g.
Name Button Mr a Button1 Mr b Button1 Mr c Button1
The aim is to use the button on an index tab and to capture the name next to the button as a sort string for data on a separate tab.
What i am trying to do is make a command button appear when you hit any cell of the row its on. For example, If you were to hit any cell on rows 1 or 2 the command button will appear and when I am not on the visible property goes back to false. I have a ton of buttons on this sheet and I am trying to clean it up so buttons only appear as needed.
What I need is to insert a row at row 59 and autofill the formulas including drop down list from the above row. This is what I have so far (Thanks to Reafidy and shg).
Sub ChkDates() Dim c As Range Dim DelRng As Range Dim ArcRng As Range Dim i As Long Dim l As Integer Application. ScreenUpdating = False Worksheets("Report").Activate For i = 60 To 8 Step -1 Set c = Cells(i, 33) If IsDate(c) Then ..............
I have a button on a cell that is attached to a macro that inserts a row above it. I have to manually select the cell that the button is on, or any cell on that row, first to get this to work. I could use some help in getting the macro to select whatever cell, or row, that the button is on so this will work correctly.
i am having a problem with an insert button, with some help i have been able to put down codes so that when i click on button a row get inserted but i am facing following problems
1. row is getting inserted anywhere whereas what i want is below
to have a reference cell say 12 and then when i click the insert button row should get inserted below row 12 only and next click should insert the row below row 13 and so on. Further i have an if formula in cells below which i want row to be inserted now formula if something like this =if(d2="true", "x","y") now when a new row is inserted d2 becomes whereas i want formulae to have d2 only.
I want to insert a command button and assign a macro, I have the developers toolbar available with the controls section and on all other spreadsheets i can then select insert and choose the required button, however on the particular workbook i want to use the insert button is greyed out and not available.
i already use macros in this workbook and they work fine from keyboard shortcuts but i would like to make one of them run from a command button
Is there a simple setting somewhere which i may have turned off inadvertently previously or could the problem have anything to do with the macros themselves?
I've got some rows containing formulas under one of several header rows. I'd like to insert a button in column A of the header row which will insert rows below that header. I've got it working using absolute and relative references, but don't know how to determine where the button is located in order to insert below the right header row.
Hopefully that makes sense. If needed I can attach a sample spreadsheet.
Current macro
Sub Test() ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Rows("1:1").EntireRow.Select Selection.Copy ActiveCell.Offset(2, 0).Rows("1:1").EntireRow.Select Selection.Insert Shift:=xlDown Application.CutCopyMode = False End Sub
Using excel 2003. Cannot insert command button on a spreadsheet we have. Almost all icons in the control toolbox are unavailable when Im on this specific spreadsheet. Any new documents I open work fine. Is there some kind of protected spreadsheet that wouldnt allow for a button, picture, textbox label to be inserted??? I didnt make the original sheet but am just editing and improving it.
I would really appreciate any advice you could give, I have attempted to attach a jpg showing the greyed out icons in my controltool box
