Keeping Area Code But Removing All Other Numbers

ex. 111-222-9999
I want to remove the 2's and 9's but keep the 1's.

Removing Duplicate Rows, But Keeping The First One.
Feb 28, 2008I have an excel spreadsheet with approximately 10000 rows. There are approximately 10 columns...
Column A - person's ID number
Column B - name
Column C - Street Address
Column D - City
Column E - State
etc...
It being such a large list there are many many duplicates (it was pulled from a bunch of different excel spreadsheets and combined into one via copy and pasting one document into the other).
I figured out a way to have excel highlight the duplicates in a different color... but scrolling through 10k people and deleting the duplicates is obviously very tedious (approx 40% of the spreadsheet is duplicates).
Is there a way to sort out the duplicates (via their ID number, column A) so that there are no repeats? I want to get rid of the 2nd/3rd/4th (etc) occurance of the person's information but I was to obviously keep the first occurance.
I tried using Advanced Filter but I must have done something wrong because it shrunk the list too far down.
Keeping Linkage Intact Between Vba Code To Worksheet Buttons?
Feb 10, 2014I maintain an excel application for a local theatre group using alot of vba actioned by buttons on worksheets. I regularly email the application back and forth between the treasurer and myself and I have noticed that the process of doing this often seems to result in the buttons losing their reference to the code I've assigned to them.
why this happens (is it a bug?) and how to make the linkage more robust? Can I link the buttons and code using vba so that I could establish all the links when the workbook is open?

How To Set Print Area In Code
Jul 6, 2014I have 2 codes that set up different "print areas". Every time i run one of the codes the print area doesn't get set unless i run the same code again. So if i run code A which will set the print area with no issues and then right afterwards i run code B then code B's print area won't get set unless i run code B a 2nd time. And if i now i run code A, the same issue happens and the print area to Code A won't get set properly unless i run the code again.

May 7, 2008I have some code to select a print area depending on wether or not there is data in a cell. The code I have so far partially works but not quite like I need it to. Here's what I have,

It will select the print range if there is data in C5 but if there is data in C5 and Q5 it only selects the first print area. I know I need an "If - Else" or something of that nature but I cant figure that out. Also I need it to look at other worksheets not just the active one. I've tried a replacing the ActiveSheet with Worksheets (Sheet1). but that gives me an error.
Scrolling Area Code
May 29, 2008I have a sheet in which I want to limit the scrolling area to B2:B60 & D2:H60, in other words I don't want to include neither A2:A60 nor C2:C60 in my scrolling area.
Is there a way to do this?
I know I can lock the cells, however, pre-existing code will not work if cells are locked.
Set Print Area Through Code
Oct 24, 2008I am having trouble setting print area on rows that can vary from 100 to 6000 rows. This code works good except that the print area cuts off the last row of data every time. "AreaBegin"=row 6 and "AreaEnd" = to last row after a set number of rows have been inserted based on a counter.
Basically how do I get this code to capture the last row for print area?

etc.
I need only the the data in Cells A1 A5 etc. which means the 3 cells below (A2, A3, A4 ) should be deleted. A5 I need the data, and then A6, A7, A8 I do not need ... A9 need and so on.
the data should be in in one below the next with no spaces in between.
Data is only in column A.

i use replace to get rid of everything before the number but anything after the mm is totaly different most of the time.
is there a way that i can get rind of anything after, and including, the mm?
or by some chance a command that will just leave me with the number allone?

Jun 1, 2013I have a limited amount of VBA knowledge. My limited knowledge is based on solving my problems by looking at the answers already on this site and trying to adapt it to my needs. Here goes:
I import a list of address and telephone numbers (100+) into excel. example - Cell A1 contains "10 downing street, whitehall, london, SW1A 2AA 01234 567890", sometimes there is another space after the number, sometimes there is no telephone number. I want to remove the telephone number at the end if it is there. Have searched the forums have have come up with the follow solution:
1. import list to column A
2. copy and paste Trim to column B
3. copy values in column B and paste to column A
4. delete column B
5. remove the end numbers
6. copy and paste Trim to column B
7. copy values in column B and paste to column A
8. delete column B
9. remove the end numbers

I know this is a long winded way around (still chuffed I worked it out by myself though!). If I merge all the macros into one marco it continually loops and deletes everything in the cells and I have to press escape to stop it.
My questions are:
1. Why, when I merge all the macros doesnt it work the same as individual macros? (I would like to know for future reference).
2. Its there a better way to remove the telephone numbers?

Feb 7, 2014I have a list full of different IDs with different version numbers (This format: AKH123.1).
I'm trying to clean the list - removing all duplicate IDs but leaving only the largest version number.
I managed to remove the last digit using LEN/VLOOKUP and removing duplicates, but leaving only the largest version number is too tricky for me. I've thought about trying something with LARGE but can't wrap my mind around it.
My thought process went like this: I want to find all occurrences of "AKH123" and return the largest one.
The list contains about 8000 entries and this would save en enormous amount of work.
Here is a tiny portion of the list:

Limit Scroll Area - Code Activates Only On Mouse Or Keyboard Input
Apr 21, 2007I have a worksheet that serves as a navigation page for the workbook and use the following code to restrict from scrolling off the viewable content. The problem is that the code doesn't kick in until either a click if the mouse or keyboard input. This initially leaves the worksheet open for scrolling until input is received.
How do I make this code activate when the wb is loaded? Code in the Thisworkbook module already makes the menu the visible sheet, and code limiting the scroll area is in the sheet module.

Dec 14, 2012I need a code that when i place a date in a cell D10 (Example:25-January-2013) it will then add 40 days of dates daily to AP10.In D9 can it also add the weeknumber (every 7 days the weeknumber increases by 1) corresponding to the day date in D10 (iso).Can this be attached to a button.Enter the date in D10 then press the button and the dates auto insert across the sheet daily to AP10.
