LOOKUP Finding The Zero

I have a LOOKUP formula with MID in it to asign a Letter digit to each numeric in a certain position of a number. Works great (thanks jonmo1) on 9 out of 10 numerics.
see below

=LOOKUP(MID(AF134,4,1)*1,{1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0},{"V","T","A","P","L","K","H","J","E","C"})

But when that 4th digit is a zero I get #### instead of my C letter that I need.

Finding 2nd Occurence And Lookup Value

How can I find the 2nd occurence of a value in a list and lookup a value in the same row?

My data looks similar to this:

etc.
How can I lookup Alan's 2nd Order No.?

Lookup But First Finding A Unique String?

mockup.xlsxStarting out with a 9 by 11 grid.

Column A will have times that need to be referenced in a lookup. (Ex Sat 8:00am)

Row 1 will have basball field codes reference with a lookup. (Example Field 4

Cells B2:I11 have distinct codes or possibly nothing. (An example would be: Tier 1 A1-A3)

These codes will move around from time to time. They will always remain distinct within the grid, but could appear in any of the cells from B2:I11.

I have 2 columns I want to populate with values from the grid.

First is Fields. I want the first cell to populate with the baseball field found in row 1 of which the code Tier1 A1-A3 falls under.

For example if this season Tier1 A1-A3 is found in the column under Field 4, then I need to return Field 4 as a result.

Second is the time. I want the time to be populated based on what row the Tier1 A1-A3 code falls in.

For example if Tier1 A1-A3 is in the Sat 8:00am row, then I need that value returned.

In short, I need to search the grid and find a given value. I then need to use a lookup (or other tool) to return the first value in that row. And secondly via lookup return the first value in that column.

edit: added spreadsheet example. First sheet is grid in question, 2nd sheet is a typical schedule.

The first Team (Scared Hitless) is A1, the team they play first is Sands Duel Fuel (A3) They play at 11:00am on Field TR3.

You will see on the grid under TR3 and Sat 11:00 the code Tier 4 A1v3. This code is what I want to search and correlate into times on the schedule rather than doing the data entry by hand.

Lookup Not Finding Cell Number

I am having trouble using a cell reference with a VLOOKUP formula. i have 2 worksheets each containing an invoice number column. the first sheet uses the VLOOKUP to find a shipping code from a range of values in the 2nd sheet (the range includes the invoice number, shipping code and 2 other columns). i can get the formula to work by simply typing the lookup_value into the formula like so: =VLOOKUP(7128,'Detailed List'!$B$7:$Q$1500,5,TRUE)

this gives me the correct result but what i need to happen is for the formula to take the lookup_value from the invoice number cell reference in the first sheet for that record and match it to the same value in the 2nd sheet. so instead of the code above it would read: =VLOOKUP('F10','Detailed List'!$B$7:$Q$1500,5,TRUE). the value of cell F10 is '7128'. however, when i try this i get a return of #N/A and no matter what variation i try it still produces the same result.

Dificulty Finding The Right Combination For A Complex Lookup.

I am having a difficult time with a look up. It would be very hard to explain so I'll attach a copy of the section of the worksheet that the problem lies on with comments so you can see whats going on. The problem there is a numbered list with a reference number i can't seem to figure out a lookup that will look in the chart above and find the row associated to the reference number and according to how many before it have that reference number find a secondary reference number listed in the column above. The attachment should clear it up.

Lookup Formula Finding Incorrect Results

If I type in an age in A1, in A2 I want an age group to appear

the groups are
20-24
25-29
30-34
35-39
40-44
45-49
50-54
55-59
60-65

so far, if I type in an age then it normally enters the group ABOVE what I want

i.e. if I enter “24” then it put the group “25-29”. if I enter “42” it puts “45-49” and so on.

=LOOKUP($A1,{0,16,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55,60},{"<16","20-24","25-29","30-34","35-39","40-44","45-49","50-54","55-59","60+"})

I have a userform where the user will identify a record to delete. I need to search another worksheet (Month) for the event's name which is associated a date. Once it finds this event's name I need to clear the contents of that cell.

Here is the code I am using for the record deletion from the 'Data" worksheet. I need to also locate and clear the cell as stated above.

I have been trying to write two formulas in one cell. I have been able to write them both separately but have been unable to join them both together. What I am trying to do if first search name them how many reoccurring numbers appear. I have provided an example below

5 Sam 22
6 Sam 1
7 Tom 3

So the answer would be

Tom = 2
Sam = 2
John = 1

I have a table of data (say Column1 to Column 5) with multiple rows.

Column 1 to 4 will have the lookup values in multiple rows and Column 5 data should be picked up using vlookup or other lookup function.

I managed to somehow bring all these lookup values in (Column 1 to 4) in a single column in another sheet. I am now trying to use some lookup or other functions to match this single column and pick column 5 data in original sheet. Result i am expecting is lookup value in first column and next to it column 5 value.

It is basically a lookup wherein lookup value is spread over multiple rows and columns and result column is fixed. I tried using vlookup, but lookup value column and column number had to change every time when i moved from column1 to 4.

I want to be able to lookup if anywhere in a cell contains a word from a list of words, and then provides an output.

Column G:
VAT payment
HMRC payment
Pay VAT

I have a table on the side that shows:
Column Y Column Z
VATHMRC
HMRC HMRC

ie. If anything in column G matches one of the words in Column Y, then output the Column Z. I have use a Vlookup that works for the first two, as VAT is the first thing, but dont know how to make it work if the key word is in the middle of the cell.

I have a workbook with 2 different types of sheet - 1 containing source data and the others 'collecting' data from the source sheet, depending on what the sheet is for.

For example, the data source contains different pets, their names, ages and their owners.

The other sheets are on a one-per-owner basis.

What I would like to do is use a LOOKUP / MATCH function to lookup the owner name typed in cell A1 of the output sheet and match it with the corresponding owner name(s) on the source sheet. I would then like it to return with each pet and append the results on the sheet accordingly - like below:

I'm making my own gradebook (attached) and one of my sheets will list scores for each student in different assignments. I have one sheet which keeps track of all students and all assignments with other info. I would like to program cells in one sheet (the third in the attached file) to lookup a particular student's grade in a particular assignment. I figured trying a LOOKUP with an AND requirement might work but it keeps returning the message "could not find value".

My formula references the student's name and the assignment from the identifying cells so that it is easy to copy and paste. I wondered if it was this which resulted in the error, but doubt it.

I am trying to use lookup function to lookup for data in another table (we call it table A). Unfortunately, whenever the code is not in the table A, Excel will return the data from the previous row.... is there any possible way to prevent this... in another word, if the code does not exist in the table A, I want Excel to return 0 or some other figures.

Using the LARGE function, Excel has created a list based on batting averages(on a separate sheet called Line-up). It looks like this.....

The problem I am having is figuring a way for Excel to also bring the corresponding names (after using the LARGE function to create the line up list).

Lookup Matching Data & Subtract From Another Lookup

I have a very large spreadsheet of customer information(I call it the master spreadsheet). Each row contains only 3 things: Account number, product bought, Price

Later I receive the money from the customer for that product(the pay sheet) that contains the exact same thing in the same order: Account number, Product bought, Price paid.

What I'm trying to do is compare the two spreadsheets so that when i receive the pay sheet of cusomters who have paid with the amount it will deduct it from the master sheet.

So it should compare account numbers when it finds a match then it should subtract the amount paid (column C) from the master spreadheet price column(column C also).

sometimes customers don't pay the right price so it has to be a subtraction so I can see if it was over paied, underpaid etc.

Right now I'm still doing it manually combining the two documents sorting it by account number and checking for matches in column A (account number).

Lookup Formula With Two Lookup Values

I have 3 Sheets named Paid, Rejected, and Reprocessed.

On the Paid and Rejected sheets I have 2 fields Customer # (Column A), and Amount (Column Q). (The customer # field has many duplicates but the amounts are never duplicates)

On the Reprocessed sheet I have all the rejected items (all fields) and also a field named Reprocessed. I need to use a formula that will check the Paid sheet for any items that have the same Customer # and Amount and return the amount

There are 8,216 rejected items and 45,047 paid items. Some items were originally rejected have been reprocessed and show under paid.

Any thoughts on which formula I should use?

In my workbook I have multiple sheets but I'm attaching a very simple workbook to demonstrate what I'm trying to accomplish. In my "Lookup" tab/sheet. I want to have known Latitude and Longitude data that will exist in columns A&B. Columns C & D will have address numbers and Street Name. I would like my lookup formula to find the longitude and latitude data from my "lookup" sheet, when the matching address information is typed in, in my 2009 sheet. I have to keep the street numerics and street name separate on this worksheet as well. I believe I'll need two separate lookup formulas as I need these formulas to start in cell G4 & H4 in my "GeoCoding1" sheet. I am using an array formula (on the RIM Detail Sheet) to assign a weighting to a value taken from Irregular securities sheet; though the values that this formula need to return don't seem to be correct.

I am specifically referring to row 111 of RIM detail sheet. As the corresponding value on the Irregular securities sheet is > 50%; the array formula should return a result of 2 but instead its returning 10.

I have a file that I would like to lookup variable row and a variable column. I have tired vlookup and hlookup but these do not work because you have to specify a given column or row versus having that column or row be variable. Is there a way to do this.

Think of a set of times tables. I would like to input 8 and 9 and get 72 as an output. How could I go about doing this?

Or in the attached file, I would like to say A and 15 and get A15.

I am working on a macro that has a VLookup in it.

The sheet that this will be applied to comes in weekly and can have anywhere from 10K to 30K.

I want the VLookup equation to be able to find the last possible row with data in column A and then copy the Vlookp equation in column B to the last row.

What formula will return the the first value to the right?

For example: A1=empty cell, B1=3, C1=empty cell, D1=0, E1=5, F1=empty cell.

What does the formula need to be in G1 to return the value of the first cell to the left than contains 0 or a value, or in this case 5 (E1).
