Looping Directory And Pasting To Master Worksheet
Apr 26, 2007
I purchased the book VBA and Macros for excel and it has gotten me pretty far in this code, but I am having difficulty with one code though. I want the Macro to run through a specified directory, and copy the contents of the specified cells (9th row to last row) from each file and paste them in the next available space on my master. Then repeat this process for each file in the file directory. So far, it is successfully going through each file, but it isn't pasting it to my master sheet.
Dim lCount As Long
Dim wbResults As Workbook
Dim wbCodeBook As Workbook
Dim ws As Worksheet
Dim NextRow As Long
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Application.EnableEvents = False
On Error Resume Next
Set wbCodeBook = ThisWorkbook
With Application.FileSearch
.NewSearch
.LookIn = "K:ESAR GroupForecasting"
.FileType = msoFileTypeExcelWorkbooks
.Filename = "*.xls".........................

In my very crude code below....I would like to speed up the coding so by extracting data from some 800 CLOSED workbooks and pasting the data from Non-contiquous cells in an active workbook on one sheet. Can't seem to ge the = Excelmacro4 closed workbooks method to work so I went with opening each workbook, extracting data and then closing each workbook...way too slow.
Question 2. As the loop progresses...I would like to concatenate the text strings copied from the Source books Ranges G4 and G5 as they are pasted into a single cell in the destination workbook. Can't figure out how to either concatenate or xlpaste special in the coding.
Question 3. IF a user has a one of the workbooks OPEN, how do I copy that data as well other than On Error Resume Next?
Dim wbOpen As Workbook
Dim wbDest As Workbook
Dim WS As Worksheet
Dim i As Long
Sub GetdaData()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Application.EnableEvents = False

I am looking to loop through a folder and open every workbook in the folder. For every workbook I would like to copy a range in a worksheet named "explain" and paste values into a separate file. All in all this separate file would be a consolidation of the information from the individual workbooks.

I wrote the following routine to loop files in folder. I have 4 .xls files in my test folder. This code is only grabbing 1 then exiting. I have used the Dir() loop before with no problems.
Code:
Private Sub GetDataMultipleFiles(ByVal importExt As String, ByVal xFileNum As Integer, ByVal importLoc As String)
Dim Sep As String, myFile As String
Sep = Application.PathSeparator
myFile = Dir(importLoc & Sep & "*" & importExt & "*")

I have a directory with over 100 .txt files. I want to open each file, parse the data and copy the data into a new file which has numerous formulas and functions to perform on the data. I have the code for doing all the work, but I have to open each file individually and run the macro. I would like to loop through all the files in the directory to perform the same fuctions. I need the looping code for getting the files from the directory.

Here is a project I can’t seem to do on my own if you can point me in the right direction I would be grateful! here is the best suedo code to describe the needs of the script:
In the open workbook named MASTER, on Worksheet named -MASTER- ( Let’s refer to this all as just MASTER)
(In production, the name of this workbook will be an account #_ date, and the worksheet will be a date)
For each numeric value in row 6 (we’ll call these values AD###) of MASTER
'*****Part one of routine*****
Search directory "H:AccountingAdvertising Accounts" for workbook named AD### AX.xls
(Note the AX suffix of the file name)
If match is found open workbook and proceed to Part two
If match is not found, goto Private Sub AD_MISSING

I have a matrix of coordinates in sheet ("layout") (eastings - V4:BR4, northings - U5:U100). I'm trying to run through each northing (row value U5:U100), for every easting (V4:BR4), by writing the coordinate value to sheet("ISO_model"), cell K18. Within the sheet (ISO_model) there is a model which gives an output in cell HA500. I'd like to write this output (for the specific easting and northing) back into the sheet ("layout"), so that I then have the x,y, z values to create a contour plot.
I've tried to start the look through the row of eastings, but it is not working.
Sub noise_contour()
For Each Cell In Range("V4:BR4")
'write coordinate into the model

I have a number of spreadsheets, all of the same format, saved into ("C:Email Attachments").
I wish to populate a master workbook, using a macro to loop through all of the workbooks in that folder, copying all of the data (Starting at B52-Q52) using Selection.End.Down, as the row count is always different and pasting it into the master workbook. Sometimes there may only be one row, so an IF statement may be required, to say if there is nothing in B53 then don't do Selection.End.Down. The overall result would be for all of the data from each spreadsheet is detailed as one big list in the master spreadsheet.

My project requires working with 3 different files, in my example here: Delivery Status, Warehouse, and Clients. Delivery Status is the master file where the information is gathered at first. Then when the product arrives, from the column "AI" I choose the Destination which it could be a warehouse or client. So far the code that I have can paste the information in different sheets within the File Warehouse, but can not make the difference between the File warehouse and the file Clients.
In the Delivery Status file I can choose from the Column AI whether the destination is a warehouse or a client and I need Excel to paste the information in the proper file. Have in mind that I have a lot of sheets in both files. I am attaching an example files with the code.

There is a file that contains multiple worksheets. Each worksheet contains a template.
I'm trying to create a macro that will go to each worksheet and gather the information on one line in a master sheet. Then go to the next work sheet and do the same but return the data for that on the next row. And continue to do so until all the worksheets have returned data.
So far I have recorded the macro for the first sheet. How do I get it to now go to the next sheet, do the same thing, but return the data on the next line so it doesn't over write the data from the first sheet?

I have been trying for months to get this to work by altering code from similar requests I've hunted down on google to no avail.
I am looking to have a "Master" sheet that is populated by data from 30+ individual excel workbooks. Each workbook is contained on a server in a directory "O:JobsJobs In Progress." In that directory are subfolders (named in sequence "C12000 Job1", "C12001 Job2", etc) which contain the actual workbook (Named according to number ie. "C12000 Jobinfo").
I would like this "Master" to automatically pull specific values from each C1200* workbook and paste them in a designated cell so that I can quickly look at specific information contained in each workbook. Each C1200* workbook is constructed the same way.
Short Example of C1200* workbook in which data will be pulled from:
Job Number
C12000
PM
Abe Lincoln
Foreman
Thomas Edison
Contract Date
1/1/10

I need help with a macro for copying and pasting of cells. I believe this should not be a problem for the Excel VBA experts, but for someone who can only record macro, I'm really at a loss.
Attached is a sample file, where sheet 'Source' is an example of the sheet from which data are to be copied. The other sheet, sheet 'Final' is an example of the final format that I need. The reason I'm doing this is I'm planning to upload my data into Access and so I need to convert them into a list format.
List of target columns in sheet 'Final' and source cells in sheet 'Source':
Column A: Biz ID - not sure if I really need this, by right it should be listed automatically once I paste the data
Column B: B2 of 'Source'
Column C: B2 of 'Source'
Column D: B1 of 'Source'
Column E: row 6, relevant column
column F: column K
column G: row 5, relevant column
column H: the specific amount
So basically I'm creating an entry for every amount in the table.

Each month I get a report that is formatted by the customers and this sheet never changes. The problem is that the master sheet my job uses is not formatted this way. The master workbook has several sheets that breaks down the data from the monthly sheet. Instead of having to enter the data manually I'm looking for a way to export the data from the monthly sheets into the master workbook. As I stated the sheets are all the same but come from different providers and all contain the same amount/style of data.

Sub CopyDataToConsol()
Dim Sht1 As Worksheet
Dim Sht2 As Worksheet
Dim SrcRg As Range
How can i tweak the above code to:
1) copy the lastest updated row to the Master sheet, instead of copying the whole set of data over and over again..
2) automate it by using worksheet change?

how, via VBA, to save a worksheet ("ForExport") from my workbook into a new file (type CSV). To provide additional difficulty (not by my choice), the users will all have their own directories on the network to save their files into. These directories will NOT be mapped drives (e.g., "C:") but rather will be UNC paths (\parentusername)
So, obviously the filename and location are both rather dynamic, depending who is using the excel template.
The workbook has three sheets:Base Form (sheet 1)ValidationResources (sheet 2, provides data for menus/validation)ForExport (sheet 3, contains data written to it from the Base Form)
The workbook has fields to capture UserName, FileName (without an extension), and FilePath.UserName = captured by VBA code from the users login informationFileName = concatenated field based on some other fieldsFilePath = concatenated field of a set parent path (\parent) plus the UserName (so, \parentusername)What I want to do is have a macro that takes the ForExport sheet, saves it as a CSV file (with the file name from the field holding that info) into the directory I've specified in the FilePath field.
Is what I'm trying to do even possible? I have a sample workbook I can provide if you need something to work with. Not sure if I can attach it here.

I pulled to follow code off the Microsoft site.
[URL]....
The problem I'm having is that the code isn't actually looping through the workbook - it's replaying over and over again on the same worksheet. I figure this is an easy fix but this figure is as useful as dog clues to ants.
Sub WorksheetLoop2()
' Declare Current as a worksheet object variable.
Dim Current As Worksheet
' Loop through all of the worksheets in the active workbook.
For Each Current In Worksheets
A bunch of page formatting. Unmerge, cut, paste etc.

I have a music folder on my computer with a TON of music in it. Some folders have sub-folders as well.
I need an easy way to point to a specific folder and pull ALL the names of the files within that folder and all of the sub-folders and put them on an Excel worksheet.
So a brief example...
Main Folder: Now That's What I Call Music
Sub-Folders: Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3, etc
And within each sub-folder is at least 2 more folders named CD1 and CD2.
I want to pull the name of every song in ALL of these folders into one collective list in Excel.

I was wondering if there is a way to list all filenames from a directory on a worksheet including the files located within it's subfolders? I found a bit of code at [URL] that is as follows, but I can't seem to get it to read the files in the subfolders... Also, would it at all be possible to hotlink each entry so that the user can double-click the name in the sheet and open the file?
VB:
Sub ListAllFile() Dim objFSO As Object Dim objFolder As Object Dim objFile As Object Dim ws As Worksheet Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set ws = Worksheets.Add 'Get the folder object associated with the directory Set objFolder = objFSO.GetFolder("C:") ws.Cells(1, 1).Value = "The files found in " & objFolder.Name & "are:" 'Loop through the Files collection For Each objFile In objFolder.Files ws.Cells(ws.UsedRange.Rows.Count + 1, 1).Value = objFile.Name Next 'Clean up! Set objFolder = Nothing Set objFile = Nothing Set objFSO = Nothing End Sub

Sheet.Copy After:=ThisWorkbook.Sheets (1)

The above VBA works by saving a copy of existing Workbook by refering to cell A1 and then Pasting Special worksheet 2006-07 which has external links. Is it possible to create a looping macro that refers worksheet("BUs") which list all business units I need to run and save? Range(A1) needs have a looping macro that refers worksheet BUs and then automatically saves files without manually changing cell references.

I work in a correctional centre. Some of the correctional officers have
little training to use Excel or other programs, but are required to complete
spreadsheets on line. Although we have heavily protected the worksheets and
locked cells, we find that in some cases the staff can still mess up the
worksheets by copying and pasting data inappropriately.
Is there a way to turn off the ability to paste data into the worksheet, and
to force each field to be completed manually? This would eliminate the
problem.

I am trying to develop a macro in excel that CUTS AND PASTES rows of data from one worksheet in to the next available row in a new worksheet if there is a date in a particular cell. If the cells that are being checked for a date are empty, then the routine would skip these rows of data.
Here is an example of the worksheet. All rows containing a date in the Scanned column, would be cut and pasted in to a new worksheet. And any rows that have an empty cell in the Scanned column are ignored. If the Scanned column is filled at a later date, then when the macro is run, the data in that row would be cut and pasted in to the next available row in the new worksheet.
