Looping Through And Deleting Rows If Cells Contain A Value
Apr 8, 2014
I have a normally easy task that is causing me some grief. In column f of my data I either have a number or this "____________". My goal is to delete the entire row if that line is present but my code is not finding that value in my range.
I am wondering is this some format value or something, but it shows up in the formula line as a line. Doesn't appear to be an underline, but I could be wrong. Below is my code.

First, I have to say that I am very weak in VBA.
I have a section of code where I need to count the cells from J through BF in rows 42 through 76. The code snippet I'm working on is:
Code:
For r = 42 To 76 Step 1
if Application.WorksheetFunction.Count(Range("J" & r:"BP" & r)) = 0 Then
Err = Err + 1
[Code]....
The code checker highlights the ':' in the 'Range .... = 0' with the message "Expected: list separator or )".

I have a worksheet and the products starts from the first row has product name and 2 following rows are other information which i do not need. i was trying to figure out a VBA code that can leave the first rwo and delete every 2 rows below the first one and then to complete this until the end of the data.
For example: in the following rows, i want to keep rows 1, 4, 7 and all others to be deleted and this process to continue until the last rows having data.
Column A
1 Product name
2 serial number
3 manufucture date
4 Product name
5 Serial number
6 manufucture date
7 Product name
8 serial number
9 manufucture date
Sub Deletesecondtworows()
FinalRow = Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row

I am trying to a method to delete rows that contain EL or LE in a specific cell in a set column as this will reduce my file down by nearly a third. Currently by doing it using a autofilter it kills my computer as there is so much data. Is there an easy way to reduce this?

I have a spreadsheet that I need to delete duplicate rows in. However, in order to determine if a row is a duplicate I need to check 2 cells per row. In the attached file you will see that each row has 4 cells. I need to compare the cells in columns B and C with the B and C cells of the Row beneath. If the B and C cells match then it is considered a duplicate and one of the rows needs to be deleted. Also, there may be multiple duplicate rows.
For an example see rows 17, 18 and 19. I only need 1 row to remain.
I am looking for a vb script that would analyze a file with thousands of rows and delete the duplicates.

Deleting rows that have dependent cells.
I have one sheet that uses a very simple formula for copying certain values from one cell to another sheet “=VALUE(Sheet1!B5)”.
My problem is that rows have to be deleted in sheet1 as the information eventually becomes expired and the following is displayed in my cell in
sheet 2 “=VALUE (Sheet1!#REF!)” Is there a work round this, to prevent the formula showing a #REF! Value.
Row 5 is replaced and the same formula has to be re-entered. Excel 97 used in our office unfortunately.

I have a long list (over 1000 lines) of numbers, some of which are duplicated. Up to now I have been sorting them, adding in a simple check column to see if the number is a duplicate of the one below, and then manually deleting this cell.
Is there a better way to do this using VBA? The only way I have managed to find is by deleting the entire row, but I cannot do this as I have additional data to the right that I need to keep.
I also cannot install any add-ons as this on a work computer.

I have a column that has different SIC codes in it (00045, 00046, etc). I would like to set up a macro or filter that would take cells in this column and delete each row that contains a certain code that I don't want.
Example, I want to delete all the rows with SIC codes that have 00345, 00873, 00145, etc in a particular cell. I would like a macro that would look at each cell in the column and delete the rows that I don't want.

I work with a spreadsheet every week to input values and subtotal them. These values change constantly and instead of going through and manually deleting each row in a 100+ row spreadsheet to be able to import into another program, I'm looking for an quicker way to keep my data in order but consolidate by getting rid of only the rows where both column A and B are blank.
Here's an example of what I'm working with:
5
10
15
20
50
2
4
6
8
20
This is what I need the final product to look like:
5
10
15
20
50
2
4
6
8
20
So I would like to quickly delete rows 2, 5, and 11. All of the other answers I've found only show how to delete rows based on empty cells in only 1 column. How can I quickly delete the rows where both columns are empty?

I want to establish a link from my worksheets. Using the conventional link method I was able to link the values from my first worksheet to the second worksheet. My problem is when I delete a particular row. The reference of the second worksheet will have an error #REF! since I deleted those cells. Is there any way that I can link my two worksheets without any error that even if I deleted a particular cell/row the reference is still intact?

Whenever you insert / delete row or cut cells out in Mon/Tue sheets it's causing issues in the table in the Weekly view tab.
Is there any way to prevent it? I don't mind redoing whole spreadsheet, it was done ages ago in a very fast manner.
I gave you an idea by deleting a row range in Mon tab which causes #REF error.

I am looking for some code that will use A,B,C as filters to find duplicate cells, and if duplicate found, there should be deleted the duplicated row (but not only the row from a,b,c column, but the whole 8 cells from that row - A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H).
As filter I would like to be used A,B,C columns.
EXAMPLE:
BEFORE
A B C D E F G H

Kristijan Markovski 26,2,1992 1389 Prilep Prilep Mice Kozar01 1
Kristijan Markovski 26,2,1992 1389 Prilep Prilep Mice Kozar001 1

I'm using Conditional Formatting for an entire column to check the value of each cell and compare it to the value of a cell in the same row but a different column. (Cell Value equals =$D2) It works great until I insert or delete a cell in the formatted column. The reference does not change as one would expect. I've played around with formulae such as =$D2<>$P2 but the reference only changes for the P2, not the D2. I've also tried using =CELL("contents", ADDRESS(Row(),4)) but this causes excel to complain.

I have the below code which converts a range to PDF and saves it on our network drive. I would like to change my code to a loop so I don't have to do so much typing. There are 68 rows between each range.
VB:
Sheets("CPS CSR Dashboards").Range("A2:K69").ExportAsFixedFormat xlTypePDF, "G:Call Center ReportingWeeklyAgent DashboardsTemp" & [ 'CPS CSR Dashboards'!M3] & ".pdf"
Sheets("CPS CSR Dashboards").Range("A70:K137").ExportAsFixedFormat xlTypePDF, "G:Call Center ReportingWeeklyAgent DashboardsTemp" & [ 'CPS CSR Dashboards'!M71] & ".pdf"
A2:K69 is the range for Agent 1 which will be saved as as a PDF M3 is the cell which contains Agent 1's name for which the file is to be named.
A70:K137 is the range for Agent 2 which will be saved as another PDF M71 is the cell which contains Agent 2's name.

Here's what I've got:

Dim i As Integer
finalrow = Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).row - 8

Cells(1, 2).EntireRow.delete

I have a macro which is copying data from several worksheets into one consolidation worksheet. When determining where to paste the data into the consolidation sheet, the macro includes some logic to find the last row that has data in it (using e.Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row, where "e" is a variable holding the name of the consolidation worksheet).
Once all the data is on the consolidation worksheet, I have a second worksheet with formulas that link to the consolidation sheet. The issue I have is that the first step of my consolidation macro deletes all data on the consolidation sheet to ensure that no data is double-counted). I am deleting the data with logic that simply deletes all rows from 3 to 65536. Once these rows are deleted, Excel returns a #REF! error on my second worksheet which is linking back to this data.
Rather than deleting the rows on the consolidation sheet, I have tried using the Clear and/or ClearContents commands instead. This works (i.e., my formulas no longer error out), but results in the consolidation macro running very slowly (~15 minutes, compared to

The first code hides everything just fine based on the date in A1. When I change it to the second code to delete instead of hide it is leaving a bunch of rows that the 1st code hides. Both codes have the same search criteria.
Code:
For Each cell In Range("B8:B5000") If cell.Value Range("A1").Value Then cell.EntireRow.Hidden = True
Next cell
Code:
For Each cell In Range("B8:B5000") If cell.Value Range("A1").Value Then cell.EntireRow.Delete

I have the following codes to delete all blank rows in column A
Dim lastrow As Long
lastrow = Sheet1.Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
MsgBox lastrow
With Sheet1
For t = 1 To lastrow
If Cells(t, 1) = "" Then
Rows(t).Delete
End If
Next t
End With
End Sub
Although it is working , it is not deleting all the blank rows at once, I have to keep pressing on the macro button running the macro several times, until all blank rows are completely deleted.

I wanted to do a multiple return vlookup so I used an Index formula. I have account names and am trying to vlookup contacts associated with those accounts (4 max). So I have a list of Accounts all with 3 blank rows in between them.
How do I loop an array formula? So far I have the code..
[Code] .....
This finds the 4 contacts associated with the first account in C5 which I named the cell "myVar". I now want it to find the contacts associated with the accounts in C9, C13, C17 and so on until the first empty cell.

I have to manually drag my formula for 121 cells and then change the formula by next column and/or row number.
Currently the 2 formulas I have are:
=IF(AND($Z$4>="", $AA$4>=""),H$6,J2456)
=OFFSET(X$5,0,(ROWS($1:1)-1)*2)
After every 121 cells that I drag these formulas to, in the first formula I change from H$7 to H$7 then H$7 then H$7 and so on
In the second formula, I change from X$5 to X$6 then X$7 then X$8 and so on.And also change the ROWS from 1:121 back to 1:1
Is there a formula which I can drag and it automatically changes the column and cell reference in the 2 formulas?

So, cell A19, do some work, then move to A20, and so on until it gets to cell A40, then it stops. I cannot work out the VBA for it.

We are attempting to use the macro below.
We believe that the problem is "memory related."
However, we can't find the correct workaround to the issue.
In Excel 2002, the behavior was for the macro to work great on small numbers of rows, but to just stop on large numbers of rows. After it stopped, the user would manually run the macro throughout the spreadsheet, by holding down Ctrl + N.
In Excel 2007, the behavior of the program is different, and Excel actually freezes up.
We've narrowed down the problem to be possibly "memory related."
However, we don't know the correct workaround for this.
For example, in the posting below (the referenced link) they suggest using "variant arrays" to address memory limitations type of issues ... but I'm not sure of how to implement those.

Worksheet 1 contains merged/single Cells
Worksheet 2 contains single Cells
Now , i fneed to compare first merged/single cell in Worksheet1 with first single cell in Worksheet2 and similarly , second merged/single cell in Worksheet1 will be compared with second single cell in Worksheet2 and so on.........
Though i can use exact and compare them maually by specifying cells but since i need to make it general , suppose second time there can be some other combination of Merged cells I need to compare with Worksheet2 .
