I have a database that needs breaking down in order to fulfill a request.
I've been trying to create a macro to copy one row to a new workbook (starting from row 3), file name save as a value of the cell (C1), and move onto the next row. However, my code appears to only loop through 26 entries and then stops.
In my very crude code below....I would like to speed up the coding so by extracting data from some 800 CLOSED workbooks and pasting the data from Non-contiquous cells in an active workbook on one sheet. Can't seem to ge the = Excelmacro4 closed workbooks method to work so I went with opening each workbook, extracting data and then closing each workbook...way too slow.
Question 2. As the loop progresses...I would like to concatenate the text strings copied from the Source books Ranges G4 and G5 as they are pasted into a single cell in the destination workbook. Can't figure out how to either concatenate or xlpaste special in the coding.
Question 3. IF a user has a one of the workbooks OPEN, how do I copy that data as well other than On Error Resume Next?
Dim wbOpen As Workbook Dim wbDest As Workbook Dim WS As Worksheet Dim i As Long Sub GetdaData() Application.ScreenUpdating = False Application.EnableEvents = False
I am attempting to amalgamate several (100+) spreadsheets into a single spreadsheet. The data is very simple (only three columns, several rows). I have written a simple macro to copy 5 spreadsheets (called TIMESHEET1, TIMESHEET2 etc) into 1 spreadsheet called AMALGAMATED TIMESHEETS. I would like to expand this using a FOR - NEXT loop if possible - or any other way that someone can think of! I cannot use the variable TIMESHEETx as this is not accepted......
I am looking to loop through a folder and open every workbook in the folder. For every workbook I would like to copy a range in a worksheet named "explain" and paste values into a separate file. All in all this separate file would be a consolidation of the information from the individual workbooks.
I have a matrix of coordinates in sheet ("layout") (eastings - V4:BR4, northings - U5:U100). I'm trying to run through each northing (row value U5:U100), for every easting (V4:BR4), by writing the coordinate value to sheet("ISO_model"), cell K18. Within the sheet (ISO_model) there is a model which gives an output in cell HA500. I'd like to write this output (for the specific easting and northing) back into the sheet ("layout"), so that I then have the x,y, z values to create a contour plot.
I've tried to start the look through the row of eastings, but it is not working.
Sub noise_contour() For Each Cell In Range("V4:BR4") 'write coordinate into the model
I have 2 excel files, let's call them 1.xlsx and 2.xlsx (excel 2007)
File 1 is the file where I want data copied into and file 2 is the file I want to copy data from.
File 1 has certain text strings in every say 5th column in always row 2. I want to find those strings in file 2 and if the string is found, go 6 rows down, copy the cell, and paste it into file 1, 8 rows down the text string. this is the code I came up with, but it doesn't work
Code: Option Explicit Sub get_data_from_2()
Dim i As Long Dim j As Long Dim FinalColumn As Long Dim RngFrom As Range
I have the following code that transfers all the Excel files in Folder 1 to Folder 2:
Code:
Sub Move_NRAuto() Dim fso As Object Dim FromPath As String Dim ToPath As String Dim FileExt As String
[Code]...
I'm trying to amend this code so that instead of hard coding "Folder1" into the code, I can loop this process through a number of folders (Folder 1, Folder 3, Folder 4, etc) and move all of the files in each of those folders into "Folder2".
I have an excel template that needs to be copied multiple times and each sheet needs be named according to a list in an excel spread sheet. I also have a formula in the template that needs the value copied instead of the formula.
I got this script from an site and tried it. It runs but I don't see any spread sheets.
I have a directory with over 100 .txt files. I want to open each file, parse the data and copy the data into a new file which has numerous formulas and functions to perform on the data. I have the code for doing all the work, but I have to open each file individually and run the macro. I would like to loop through all the files in the directory to perform the same fuctions. I need the looping code for getting the files from the directory.
I would like to create a change event macro that will update multiple formulas that pull data from various tabs on a file. The tabs are named with a single date. So ideally when a certain master cell (Allocation!H2) is updated to the current date the macro will be prompted to update the range that contains formulas and update accordingly...so its and index match fomula based that has a variable being the tab name which is a date. I have a range of dates in cells F4:AB4 and want the formula to go into F5:AB5, I can then fill that down to whatever row I want...that bit I can handle.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim KeyCells As Range Set KeyCells = Worksheets("Allocation").Range("H2")
I have the below code which converts a range to PDF and saves it on our network drive. I would like to change my code to a loop so I don't have to do so much typing. There are 68 rows between each range.
I'm working out of the book, and I'm close to what I need but at a beginner's block. I want to delete all rows of a table of stock information where the symbol (column b) contains a "."
Here's what I've got:
Sub Earnings_SymbsClnUp() 'Deletes the newly posted trades that have a "." in the symbol.
Dim finalrow As Integer
Dim i As Integer finalrow = Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).row - 8 MsgBox finalrow
For i = finalrow To 9 Step -1 If Cells(i, 2).Value = "ITRA" Then Cells(1, 2).EntireRow.delete End If Next i
I have a normally easy task that is causing me some grief. In column f of my data I either have a number or this "____________". My goal is to delete the entire row if that line is present but my code is not finding that value in my range.
I am wondering is this some format value or something, but it shows up in the formula line as a line. Doesn't appear to be an underline, but I could be wrong. Below is my code.
I have an existing spreadsheet with a column of strings (actually VIN numbers). These numbers correllate to a bunch of text files, that can exist in one of three folders (UsernameDesktop1, 2, or 3) on my desktop. What I need the macro to do is:
1) get the filename from A2 (A1 is a heading row) 2) Find the appropriate text file in one of the three folders 3) Put the folder name into I2 4) Scan the text file for some strings, and copy some data that follows those strings into J2:O2 (I can handle programming this) 5) Close the text file 6) repeat above for the remainder of filenames (about 1800 files)
I wanted to do a multiple return vlookup so I used an Index formula. I have account names and am trying to vlookup contacts associated with those accounts (4 max). So I have a list of Accounts all with 3 blank rows in between them.
How do I loop an array formula? So far I have the code..
[Code] .....
This finds the 4 contacts associated with the first account in C5 which I named the cell "myVar". I now want it to find the contacts associated with the accounts in C9, C13, C17 and so on until the first empty cell.
I want to create a loop that goes down all the rows in my spreadsheet and does the formula (end/beginning -1) for all the rows of cells. The "end" cell is the cell that is the farthest right in the row (some sort of end.xlright) and the "beginning" cell is column D of the row that is being calculated.
However, we can't find the correct workaround to the issue.
In Excel 2002, the behavior was for the macro to work great on small numbers of rows, but to just stop on large numbers of rows. After it stopped, the user would manually run the macro throughout the spreadsheet, by holding down Ctrl + N.
In Excel 2007, the behavior of the program is different, and Excel actually freezes up.
We've narrowed down the problem to be possibly "memory related."
However, we don't know the correct workaround for this.
For example, in the posting below (the referenced link) they suggest using "variant arrays" to address memory limitations type of issues ... but I'm not sure of how to implement those.
I'm not great anyways with VBA Macro.Effectively, here is my issue. I have a spreadsheet which is really badly designed. In one column I have multiple numbers separated by a comma. I need this data separated into new individual rows, but at the same time, copying the data in the other columns in that row to the new row.
Example of what I have:
Test 1 54 email1 Test 2 32, 343, 63, 34 email2 Test 3 4934, 5342 email 3
What I need:
Test 1 54 email1 Test 2 32 email2 Test 2 343 email2 Test 2 63 email2 Test 2 34 email2 Test 3 4934 email3 Test 3 5342 email3
I have have the following code below which paste everything into a new column and into a new row, but the problem I have is that it does not push the other rows data down, nor does it copy the 1st rows data (for that data set) into the new rows created.
Code: Option Explicit Sub Macro1() Dim fromCol As String Dim toCol As String Dim fromRow As String Dim toRow As String Dim inVal As String Dim outVal As String
[Code] ........
The amount of rows I have, so this manually (text to column, then transcoding etc) it out of the questions (i have 1000 rows of this!)
I have a lot of data that I need to have organized out but as far as I can tell an IF statement is the only thing that could work. I work at a casino and there are about 6,000 games that I need to be able to sort through. The games are classified by sections A - Q. Each section contains anywhere from 30 - 50 banks, and each bank contains anywhere from 4 - 20 games. This is what I am trying to accomplish.
Have a drop down that lists zones A - Q. If the user chooses A, for the next column to populate with a drop down of all of the banks in A. Then for the user to choose the bank they want and then have the next colum populate a drop down with the games in A>bank1. So basically...
Zone>Bank>Machine
then once you choose the machine, for the columns to the right to auto populate the information on that game such as themes ect.
Zone>Bank>Machine>Information on that machine
I have another sheet that contains the inventory of all of the games that I am using as my "database". I am able to get this working great with IF statements, but I obviously need to be able to use more than 8. Here is my current code...
I have a spreadsheet with a drop down box with 30 names in it. On the other worksheets of this file I have budget figures.
What I need is a correct formula so that when I select a name from the drop down box it will grab the figure from a cell in another sheet and place it into the sheet where the drop down box is.
Is it possible to use a formula which grabs more than one cell?
I am trying to take information from columns J ("Family Size") and L ("Annual Income"), and figure out how many units should be assigned to columns N ("Very Low Income Units") and O ("Low Income Units").
Essentially, this is what I want to do:
If J2 = 1 and N< 22850, then N2 = F2 and O2 = 0. If J2 = 2 and N< 26100, then N2 = F2 and O2 = 0. If J2 = 3 and N< 29400, then N2 = F2 and O2 = 0.
And so on through "8."
I looked at the Nested IF Limitation suggestions on the FAQs . . . it didn't seem like CHOOSE or VLOOKUP would get me where I need to go. Unless VLOOKUP is somehow merged with IF. Does anyone know the easiest way to get this done?
Steven Auto Merged Post;Oops . . . forgot to attach. See attached.
I have a nested IF statement that I am using in an application I am building in Excel. I am using logic to get the current month and then evaluate whether the value is a number. I would like to know if there is a better way to perform what I am trying to accomplish using another function. I am trying to cocantonate the the statements together which has worked in the past but not for this particular function.See Below... The function works if i use 7 IF statements.
i have tried to create a userform thru which data is to be entered. so that the data will be printed on a worksheet. here there are few text boxes, in which the number of digits should be equal to 14. after filling the userform when i click the print button if it is less than or more than 14 a pop up msgbox should be displayed with OK button and the cursor should go back to that particular text box. i have written the following code, but it has a problem. even if the total no of digits are 14 the msgbox is displayed.
say the text box name is Roll no
If txtRollNo.MaxLength 14 Then MsgBox "Roll No should be of 14 digits", vbInformation + vbOKOnly txtRollNo.SetFocus Exit Sub End If
I am working on Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003 excel and am having trouble with my coniditional formats. I need to have 4 but can only have 3. Is there a simplae way around this? if not let me describe what i want to do and maybe there is a coded solution.
In columns N, R, V and Z i will have % increase in sales over a period. Below 0% would be red, between 0-5% is Amber, 5-10 is Green and over 10% is Purple. Is there a simple code that can be applied to this?
I can define the paramteres in excel in the row columns below.
I had a happy macro that copy and pasted sheets in an output folder for all excel files from a target file that included the desired changes. it worked fine. then i realized that when pasting a sheet, the text is limited to 250 characters, so an important portion of my sheet (some instructions in various cells) was not coming over. So i created the following which will copy the columns, but some of the row formatting is different and doesn't line up. my questions:
-is there a better way around this text limitation? -if not, is there a way to copy the row formats for this section and include in my macro? -is there a way to copy the cells (all or a range) themselves while using "ThisWorkbook", thereby including all the appropriate formating? it seems to not like to do that.
‘Copy columns from target sheet
