Sub OpenCalendarForm()
frmCalendar.Show vbModeless
End Sub
When I run this I get this halt "System error&H80070057 (-2147024809). The parameter is incorrect. I havn't been doing VBA in a while as I am retired now but I have used this particular statement many times in the past and never had this error before. I have made sure there no typos. I open another workbook which has forms opening and copy pasted the the routine into my other workbook but I get the same error.
I've been using the following bit of code to run a macro at the specified time:
Private Sub Workbook_SheetChange(ByVal Sh As Object, ByVal Target As Range) Application .OnTime TimeValue("12:00:00"), "GetData" End Sub
The GetData sub executes a shell script and then pulls data from the result. The problem is that the macro runs 140+ times, and so I get 140 windows popping up and the system practically stops. I can't figure out why this is happening, as there are no loops or any sort of repetition in the code. Any help is greatly appreciated as this problem occurs with more than just the one spreadsheet.
I have two forms...clicking a specific button on the first form should display the second form which works fine.
VB: Private Sub Image_Employees_Click() Form_Main.Hide Form_Employees.Show
[Code].....
When I do this twice, however, the second form seems to freeze/hang and I have to close Excel and then re-open it. I feel like I'm overlooking something obvious...
Does anyone know how to make a form control (ex combobox, textbox) have multiple columns so that it would behave like 4 controls in one. What im going for is a control that looks like the control used when setting windows system time "12:30:00 AM" So "12" is in col 1, ":" is in col 2, "30" is in col 3, ":" is in col 4, "00" is in col 5, and "AM" is in col 6.
I've been tasked with creating an updated booking system for a company which offers projects / services to the educational sector (UK Primary Schools.) I've done an alright job at augmenting their current Excel based system, but I would like to take it further so that the system is more all encompassing.
Currently, the booking form is filled in when a booking is made and the data from that is populated into their copy of the contract and our copy of the contract using simple "=" and to a certain extent, the text on the contracts is manipulated based on the booking form data using "IF" functions.
There is a basic macro which removes excess lines from the contracts if they aren't used, but that's about it. The difficulty we're having with the current system is that a lot of our projects are bespoke, happen over more than one date, and require a lot of manual manipulation in order to get them ready, which sort of defeats the object of having a 'clever' booking system.
I don't know very much about VB, but the sort of thing I would be looking to integrate is having drop down lists to select a 'project' which would load project-specific text into the contracts area. Also, instead of having to remove lines manually, I would like the data to be 'dropped in' creating rows as appropriate.
The macro below will generate a System Error '-2147417848 (80010108)' when executed as shown below but only when there is a value in the 6th column that ends in .0006(or .00061). It will however run if no empty cells are present after the cell with .0006 in the 6th column (i.e. J = 1 to 6). This can be avoided by using the "On Error Resume Next". What is strange is if the value ends in anything other than .0006(or.0061) in the 6th column it will work fine (i.e. .00062 or .0005).
In a new workbook I have the following values in A1:B6 1125924.4684333.2496895-1217.935514LOFT -1785884.895 2422123847.627 221.0003 -482.8184125LOFT -1698521.0006
The Macro: Sub Macro1() ' ' 'On Error Resume Next Application.Calculation = xlCalculationManual Set OldWb = ActiveWorkbook Set NewWb = Workbooks.Add Application.ScreenUpdating = False For I = 1 To 2 For J = 1 To 7 NewWb.Sheets("Sheet1").Cells(I, J) = OldWb.Sheets("Sheet1").Cells(I, J) Next J Next I Application.ScreenUpdating = True Application.Calculation = xlCalculationAutomatic End Sub
I've got this code that I use to open the active session of a program I use (EXTRA! 8.0). When I try to code it to open a specific new instance of the program, I get a run-time error 429. When I debug, it's stopping on the line where I get the new instance. I've searched on this issue, but I still don't understand what the problem is.
Sub log_in() Dim Sys As Object Dim Sess2 As Object Dim lngOldSysTimeout As Long Set Sys = CreateObject("EXTRA.System") If Sys Is Nothing Then MsgBox Prompt:="EXTRA! not properly installed on this PC." _ & " Terminating execution.", Buttons:=16, _ Title:="E!PC Not Properly Installed" Exit Sub End If Set Sess2 = GetObject("C:Program FilesExtra!sessionsCCS2.edp") If Sess2 Is Nothing Then MsgBox Prompt:="DLC.edp not found. Terminating execution." _ , Buttons:=16, Title:="E!PC Not Properly Installed" Exit Sub End If End Sub
I am trying to copy 8 adjacent cells in a sheet and paste them on another sheet as a picture (using copy picture method). I could do that 3/4 times, but after that I started getting the insufficient system resources error.
I am simply trying to write a macro or code that will set all the check box values to "False" each time I initiate the User form. So that the user form does not "carry over" check box values from the last time the User form was used.
However I had to make sure I cleared the value from the cell that each control is associated with.(the controlsource in the user form properties.)
I have created workbooks for four health regions to collect data, which then needs to be resubmitted via FTP, but with de-identified data. The end users have little to no excel experience, thus had to make it simple as possible. Created a button that runs the macro (below) to deidentify (clear) all cells where there could possibly be personal identifying information. Runs fine on my cpu, but one user (so far) has received the error noted in the title. Both running excel 2003 with SP3 (I have version 11.8169.8172, user has 11.8316.8221), I have XP professional SP2, user has XP professional SP3. Spent hours searching and reading suggestions online, to no avail.
I have just signed up to the forums as I am having a very specific problem. I have looked on google and used the search feature (on several forums!) and found very limited information that is useful to me. I am having trouble with a very simple few lines of code in a macro. The code looks like this:
Function startmarketIDs() Dim targeturl, writerow, readrow, textmass, xmlHTTP targeturl = "http://lite.betfair.com/ Events.do?s=00010913z" Set xmlHTTP = CreateObject("Microsoft.xmlHTTP") xmlHTTP.Open "GET", targeturl, False xmlHTTP.send MsgBox xmlHTTP.StatusText textmass = xmlHTTP.responsetext MsgBox textmass End Function
My problem occurs at the line "textmass = xmlHTTP.responsetext". The responsetext command is obviously causing problems because if I remove it, the code executes without error and the "xmlHTTP.statustext" says "OK". With the responsetext command left in, the code generates the following error: Run-time error '-1072896658 (c00ce56e)': System Error: -1072896658. If I change the targeturl to www.betfair.com, the code executes fine and I get a message box (as desired) with the source code of the website displayed. Without meaning to sound like Im answering my own question (!!), perhaps there is something about the url or the way in which I am using the xmlHTTP object that is causing the issue, I wondered if someone would mind inspecting my code and perhaps pointing me in the right direction?
I'm developing a workbook containing 121 sheets. Sheet 1 is effectively an index, and uses 120 form control checkboxes to unhide and display the selected sheets individually.
The code I'm using for each checkbox is below and is in a module.
when my userform opens, it automatically puts the cursor into the first text box (based on the tab order) of the userform. I also set this text box value to read "0" (zero) when it first opens.
My questions is, can I make the userform open up as it does now (above), but ALSO highlight the zero ("0") in the text box? The reason is so that when the user inputs a number into this box, it also overwrites the zero in the box at the same time (because the zero would already be highlighted)?
I've been using a macro successfully for the last couple of years, but this morning when I went to use it, it decided to fail. I have a workbook which contains various spreadsheets. The macro that has failed performs the following tasks:
1. It copies a list of email addresss from an external workbook to a sheet in the current workbook (still works) 2. It copies the referral sheet I want to send to a new file, and saves it with an appropriate filename to an appropriate folder (still works) 3. The macro then creates an email with a standard subject line, attaches the new worksheet and emails it to each of the addresses as above (broken)
The error message is from Microsoft Visual Basic. "Run-time error '1004': Mail system failure. Check your mail installation."
I'm guessing there is a setting somewhere in Excel that has changed as part of an update.
I've been through a number of the options in the developer menu to remove any obvious restrictions (& reopened excel afterwards), but so far it hasn't resolved the problem.
For what it's worth, here is the macro code.
With Application .EnableEvents = False .ScreenUpdating = False End With Run "PullInSheet1" Dim oldbook As String
[Code] .......
In case you're wondering about the pullinsheet code, I'll add it below - but I probably grabbed it from this forum a couple of years ago (like some of the above) & just made some changes.
Code: Sub PullInSheet1() Dim AreaAddress As String '''''' Sheet11.UsedRange.Clear Dim ClRange As String ClRange = "= 'L:ADMINEMPLOY SERVICES" _
[Code] ........
There are a couple of things I've wanted to do to improve the macro, but I couldn't justify the need to spend time working it out (since writing spreadsheets isn't really my job). Since it's broken at the moment, I can...
1. I'd like to create a subject line that reflects the name of the person being referred. For some reason though, anything other than text in the cell reference caused an error for me. eg, I tried using concatenate to create my subject line, but it didn't work.
2. I'd like the copied sheet to contain all of the formatting of the original sheet. Presumably there is a paste option that will do this and I just picked the wrong one.
The mailsystem we use is Groupwise 8. I couldn't find any settings in that program that have been changed, or that I could change.
I should change the extension from xls to xlsx in the code since I'm using Excel 2010 (but changing it doesn't fix the problem).
When I open my excel file and go to the VBA editor there is a pop up telling me that there is a dll error. So, I can't access none of my code or run any of them.
In the tools menu and references it says : "MISSING : Microsoft PowerPoint 14.0 Object Library". When I unchech this box and close the menu, it checks itself back.
Edit : I have Microsoft PowerPoint 12.0 Object Library also in my references list.
I am working on a worksheet with quite a few advisors who will be using the sheet, because of this reason I am trying to cover my back with as much error handling with my VBA script as possible. Where I am struggling is the following line:
Code: Set cb = Workbooks.Open("wilm-dchome"UserName"DesktopCurrent projectPipeline Grouped.xlsm")
I want to have an error handler that says if this file cannot be found use the following line of code instead:
Code: Set cb = Workbooks.Open(Application.GetOpenFilename())
It may even be just a simple if statement instead but I cant seem to find the answer.
I do not understand why my code returns a Run Time Error"9" Subscript out of range. With the following code, I opened a workbook and then wish to close that same workbook without saving. Eventually I will be pulling information from the workbook but for now I just want it to open and then close right away.
Private Sub cb_NewDate_Change() ListIndex = cb_NewDate.ListIndex
If ListIndex = 0 Then
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Workbooks.Open Filename:="I:JoeNetwork Conversion FactorsNetworkConversionFactors_Ver_2_0_0.xls" Application.Workbooks("I:JoeNetwork Conversion FactorsNetworkConversionFactors_Ver_2_0_0.xls").Close False End Sub
I am getting a runtime error 32809, Application-defined or Object-defined error when I try to open my workbook. I remember someone posting code to set the VBA References when the Workbook is opened and I think this is what I need, because the file will run on Excel 2000 and not on Excel 2003. I know the References are different, but I don't know how to change them.
Having a problem with a simple udf to calculate values across multiple sheets using the calling cell as a reference point. It works great until you open another workbook and then switch back. At that point all cells calling this udf return a #value! error. If I type anywhere on the sheet all of the values will recalculate but this is less than ideal for the end users here. below is example of concept
Function TestMe() Application.Volatile (True) Dim strCallAddress As String Dim intSubTotal As Integer strCallAddress = Application.Caller.Address intSubTotal = Worksheets(2).Range(strCallAddress).Value intSubTotal = intSubTotal + Worksheets(3).Range(strCallAddress).Value TestMe = intSubtotal End Function
I'm using excel 2010 and pdf creator to make a pdf (and open it automatically). It works with the following code:
[Code] .....
path and filename are previously defined objects.
I'm using pdfcreator because the code also has to be used with excel2003 on another pc. The problem is that I get an error (probably for trying to open the newly creating pdf-file).
Error 2417024894 (80070002) during execution. Method run of Object IWshSell 3 failed.
Apparently my program quits after i try to open an excel file. If you open the file manually you get an error upon opening the file...something like this:
"File you are tyring to open is in a different format than specified by the file extension".
The problem is i am using an excel macro using VBA and once the file is opened the VBA execution quits.
The excel file turns out to be an xml file which excel can open the file and have the VBA continue running if i RENAME the file with an "xlsx" extension. The problem is that i cant ask the user to rename the file.........how do i get VBA to open the file without an issue?
I have a list of workbooks on a sheet that i am trying to open with vba one by one. If a workbook in my list does not exist or was deleted then excel displays a runtime error. Is there a way to bypass this error and have the code skip the non existant workbook and open the next one?
I am basically using a combobox in word that opens an excel spreadsheet and pulls information about the people entered in the combobox. The information pulled from excel is then pasted into the original word document.
The problem that I am having is that the macro may be needed to run twice (ex. suppose the user forgot to include an individual in the first run) and on the second run the excel document cannot be opened and it gets stuck on the loop. The macro will only work again if the word document is closed and reopend. I suspect that the excel document is not completly closing on the first runthrough.
I've included my code below. The initialize combobox code is on the bottom. I
PHP Code:
Dim WordApp As Word.ApplicationDim xlApp As Excel.Application 'Dim xlWB As Excel.WorkbookPrivate Sub CommandButton1_Click()Bios = ActiveWorkbook.NameNewWBookName = ActiveWindow.CaptionSet WrdDoc = ActiveDocumentlastrow = Range("A1").End(xlDown).RowS
whats happening to my workbook. On a worksheet called Data, i'm pulling in a lot og data from a database. Then on another worksheet i'm looking for certain things on the data sheet and counting how many there are.
This all goes along find until i close the workbook, and then re-open.I click the automatically update button that appearsand once it finishs updating all my values are replaced with #Value.
I have a user form with a TextBox (TextBox1), the user enters a filename and presses CommandButton1, this then opens the file. I have set an error trap so that if the file does not exist a MsgBox prompts the user to re-enter. So far so good, however if the error trap operates any further files entered are declared as non-existent even if I know they exist. I thought this would be quite easy but once again VBA bites me back!!
here is my code
Sub CommandButton1_Click()
stPath = ThisWorkbook.Path stFilename = "Retention" & "" & TextBox1 & ".xls" stFullname = stPath & "" & stFilename 'completes full path of for TextBox1
On Error Goto Errorhandler: 'go to this if file does not exist Workbooks.Open stFullname ActiveWorkbook.RunAutoMacros xlAutoOpen
The following script runs fine the first time I click the command button on an Access form but after I close the Excel workbook and click the command button again to edit a new spreadsheet, I get the follow error message:
Run-time error '1004': Method "Columns' of object'_Global failed.
It fails here:
Code: Columns("H:H").Select
The script is being run from Access 2007 and is opening a spreadsheet in Excel 2007 (but using xls extension)
Code: Private Sub IdahotoExcel_Click() Dim dlg As FileDialog Dim idahofile As String
The macro (used to) go down the list of spreadsheets and copy certain data from them into this master workbook. Now I'm getting a "'C:Users310108841DesktopTestFolder' could not be found" error and don't know why.
[Code].....
The error appears to happen here:
[Code] ....
What's more infuriating is that this appears to happen at random. I have been trying all afternoon to get it to work, and had no luck. I have literally just run it now, and it works fine. I can't believe it just works at random.
I cannot figure out how to get my error handler to work, or actually, not work. It seems to work fine when there is an error, but the code still gets read even when there was not an error. Basically, I am trying to open a file, which may or may not be there. When it is not there I want a message to pop up informing the user. However, when the file is there and it opens, the error handler still gives the message box. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Private Sub btnOK_Click() Application. ScreenUpdating = False Dim LCSfile As String LCSfile = frmSelectFile.Listbox1.Value On Error Goto ErrHandler Workbooks.Open Filename:=sPath & sDate & "" & LCSfile & "QUANT.CSV" ErrHandler: MsgBox ("File is not quantitated. Please select another file.") Application.ScreenUpdating = True
