Clearing Form Control Checkboxes Automatically On Opening Workbook
May 8, 2009
I'm developing a workbook containing 121 sheets. Sheet 1 is effectively an index, and uses 120 form control checkboxes to unhide and display the selected sheets individually.
The code I'm using for each checkbox is below and is in a module.
I have a multi-worksheet workbook that has many forms control checkboxes throughout it. I'm looking for some VBA that will change the background (fill) color of ALL the checkbox when it is checked (True). I've seen code for a single checkbox, but not multiple/all boxes. I know just enough VBA to be dangerous, but I'm up to learning anything new.
I wrote code for a few macros in a "save as" or practice version of a spreadsheet. Once I got the bugs worked out on the practice book I pasted the code into the actual spreadsheet I want to use. The problem is that whenever I run one of the macros it opens the practice book that I was using when I wrote the code. There should be no need for this and I can't figure out why that's happening. The code doesn't mention any workbook by name so I don't know why it would want to open the practice book.
I am preparing a simple document for employees to use that requires viewing two sheets simultaneously.
To make it user friendly I would like, if possible, to save it so that when opening the file, the two sheets open side by side without the user having to open the new window and juggle with window sizes etc.
I have a problem, where every time I close or open any workbook, Excel prompts me to "Enable or Disable Macros" in one particular workbook, wether I have tried to open it or not. In the said workbook, I have a macro that automatically updates a pivot table upon selecting the worksheet where the pivot table resides.
The code for it is as follows:
Sub UpdateIt() Dim iP As Integer Application.DisplayAlerts = False For iP = 1 To ActiveSheet.PivotTables.Count ActiveSheet.PivotTables(iP).RefreshTable Next Application.DisplayAlerts = True End Sub
Private Sub Worksheet_Activate() Call UpdateIt End Sub
There is something in the code that calls UpdateIt any time a workbook is opened, closed or selected.
I would like to be able to automatically minimize the Excel 2007 ribbon on opening a particular workbook. My preference is to be able to apply that minimization to certain worksheets only, but if that's not possible then minimizing the ribbons on all sheets in the workbook will be ok.
Will I also need a BeforeClose code as well to reinstate the ribbon so that it is visible when opening subsequent workbooks?
I am trying to educate myself in the wonders of Excel (2003) and an struggling somewhat.I have a small project loosely based on a shops stock control and have attached a copy of the workbook -
The user normally only has access to columns B, C and E due to the others being locked and the sheet protected.I would like the sheet to be automatically sorted based on column E each time the workbook is opened.I then need to automatically delete a row once an item in column B has been removed (made blank)
How can I import specific cells from say Workbook A and B to Workbook C automatically? For example. As I type in a cell in Workbook A then Workbook C reflects it straight away. Same as when I typ in Workbook B the C updates automatically. The end result will be that Workbook C automatically updates itself to show data from specific cells in Workbooks A &B.
I have two linked ComboBoxes on a form. There are 10 Textboxes populated by ComboBox2’s choice. These controls are situated on two frame controls which are used for visual groupings only. I would like to clear everything except Combo1 when Combo1’s value is changed. ( Combo1 is a filtered key list using the dictionary. Script code)
I’ve written a small sub that is called to clear the textboxes, but its not reliable every time. It seems that if the scroll bar is used, and the user chooses Combo1 choice “NUTS/SEEDS”, the boxes aren’t cleared. In fact it will show the “Walnuts” info in Combo2.
I have a user form with a button to clear the entire form on a click. I also have the form seperated into 2 frames, how do I set a button to clear only one of the two frames. Also how do I set a button to clear one text box on a frame? I know it must be simple, but I can't seem to figure it out.
I have compiled the following code with bits from here there and everywhere to clear the user entered details on a form. My problem is that I need to retain or reset to "Please Select" the cells with drop down lists.
In list form, I am trying to;
Unprotect the worksheet, Select the cells with drop down lists and lock them, Delete the contents of unlocked cells, Selecting and unlocking the cells with the drop down lists ready for re-use, Re-protect the worksheet.
(I probably should mention that my "Form" is just a formatted worksheet that looks like a form on the screen and when printed, not any sort of inbuilt Excel function that I have read about somewhere, probably here)
Code: Sub ClearUnlockedCells() ' ' Clearform Macro ' Clear entered data from Form. ' Dim WorkRange As Range Dim DVRange As Range
I have two forms...clicking a specific button on the first form should display the second form which works fine.
VB: Private Sub Image_Employees_Click() Form_Main.Hide Form_Employees.Show
[Code].....
When I do this twice, however, the second form seems to freeze/hang and I have to close Excel and then re-open it. I feel like I'm overlooking something obvious...
Error Help.xls. An example is attached. If you open the attachment, you can see that I'd like to choose a date from the combobox and have the corresponding "date code" (that's what I'm calling it - it's for a different, more complex purpose) appear in the text box. For this to happen, I'm using the following
create a form that will look at the spreadsheet and figure out which of the 32 possible checkboxes will be used and resize accordingly. I can make it so that only the checkboxes I want are visible using the .visible property, but for the sake of aesthetics I'm wondering if there is a way to disable the checkboxes I don't want and to resize the form to fit the checkboxes I do want. I just don't want a form that looks like it has checkboxes put on it at random spots.
I have a sheet with around 3,000 rows of data. I need to be able to enable/disable different comibinations of three checkboxes based on the value of a cell in column D as follows:
If Band says £0k - £75k then all three check boxes should be disabled If Band says £75k - £250k then the Step 1 check box should be enabled but the Step 2 and Step 3 check boxes should be disabled If Band says £250k - £500k then the Step 1 and Step 2 check boxes should be enabled and the Step 3 check box should be disabled If Band says £500k plus then all three check boxes should be enabled
When a checkbox is disabled I'd like it to appear visible but greyed out so it is obvious the option is not available, maybe via conditional formatting. I don't know if this can be achieved within any code rather than having to manually add conditional formatting afterwards?
I've attached a sample to demonstrate. Is this possible to achieve? I'm open to alternative approaches as well if this makes things easier to do. The mere idea of adding 9,000 plus check boxes if already scary!
So I have an 2 ActiveX button and 2 ActiveX checkboxes. I have it set up so that the Split button will enable when both checkboxes are checked. The ClearAll button has a code/macro in it that will check the "Cleared All" checkbox when the Clearall button is pressed.
My problem is with the "Populated Data" checkbox. I want it to check/uncheck itself if there is anything in Range("A1") of a tab called "Data".
I have a need to open a file from my companies intranet. My current method was to open said file via the method that the recorder gave me. However, I would like ot be able to open a said file without having to start open another workbook.
This is the path: [url]
So the command is this: Workbooks.Open [url]
Links are not actual links
So what I need to know. Is how can I open this file without opening a workbook. I haven't been able to use the VB "Open Statement" to open a file and I don't believe that I've been successfull using the Filesystem object either.
Sub OpenCalendarForm() frmCalendar.Show vbModeless
End Sub
When I run this I get this halt "System error&H80070057 (-2147024809). The parameter is incorrect. I havn't been doing VBA in a while as I am retired now but I have used this particular statement many times in the past and never had this error before. I have made sure there no typos. I open another workbook which has forms opening and copy pasted the the routine into my other workbook but I get the same error.
i have a form control listbox (list box 5), it is multi select, i need to create a for next statement that loops through the list in and tells me which "row numbers" as it were are selected. i.e if the 1st and 3rd ones are blue, it returns 1,3 in a cell? (lets say cell A1).
I have a control sheet that I am building and my sliderbar is making my data just disapear and not replacing it with any new data. Can this be fixed if I am able to reverse the sliderbar
I am trying to use the Chartspace object on a VBA form in Excel 2002, but am unable to find out how to specify the speadsheet data to be used for each series. I have found out how to add series, and to add titles & legend etc.
I am simply trying to write a macro or code that will set all the check box values to "False" each time I initiate the User form. So that the user form does not "carry over" check box values from the last time the User form was used.
However I had to make sure I cleared the value from the cell that each control is associated with.(the controlsource in the user form properties.)
I have many Form Control Check Boxes that all link to another sheet on row 3.
I have many changes to make but only want to implement the change related to the check box.
This code works perfect when you manualy type true or false on row 3 but not if the check box makes the change.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) ThisCol = Target.Column If Target.Row = 3 Then RESULT = MsgBox(Cells(1, ThisCol) & " = " & Cells(3, ThisCol), vbOKOnly, "CLICK RESULTS") End If End Sub
Why does this not work when a check box changes the value in row 3?
I have several files with form control buttons that automate functions but, on occasion, they get smaller relative to the worksheet they're in. At some point, they become unuasable unless they're manually resized.
