Macro Code To Average Multiple List Of Varying Column Ranges

Apr 4, 2009

I have a spreadsheet that has two different data sources (i.e., A and B). The amounts of these data sources (i.e., the number of columns) varies from sheet to sheet. I have to calculate the averages of these data sources independently and together. Because this data is spread across twenty or more spreadsheets, these calculations can be time-consuming. I want to do the following:
1. Locate the last occurrence of the first data source "A" in row and then insert a column after that cell.
2. In that cell, I want to get the average of each data source for each row of data (i.e., there are always 19 rows of data).
I want to do the same two steps for the second data source "B". Then, I want to insert a column after the "B" average and this column will be used to get an average of each row of data from A and B together. Please keep in mind that the number of data sources for A and B varies from sheet to sheet.
So far, I am working on code to try to " find" the text in a range (i.e., find the last instance of "A"), but I cannot figure out how to get it to get it to stop at the last occurrence and then insert a column. I have some ideas about how to calculate the average, but any of yours are much appreciated.
Also, the row with the type of data (i.e., A or B) is named because this function is part of a larger macro. Therefore, it is relatively easy to get to it.
I have attached a version of the file that displays how I want it to look.
The code I have thus far is:

Cells.Find(What:=A, After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas, LookAt _
:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, MatchCase:= _
False, SearchFormat:=False).Activate

Macro To Sum Or Subtotal Ranges Of Varying Lengths In A Column

May 1, 2014

I've reached a point in this macro where I'm stuck with NO clue how to achieve this, or even whether it can be done. In the Before sheet below, I need to bold the cells in H & I if the word "Total" is in G. I could probably manage that part, but here's the weird part: I need to add a formula to H & I of each row with "Total" in G to sum the numbers above it, from the previous total down to the current total. But there's no telling how long each range might be on a given report; from 1 row up to 8 rows.

THEN, in the second row below the end of columns H & I, I need to put a formula totalling all of the preceding Totals

I wonder if there might be a way to tell it to put a formula in H by each cell that has "Total" in G, with the formula summing or subtotalling everything from the cell in H that has data in F to the cell just above the "Total".

Sort: Multiple Varying Size Ranges

Dec 4, 2006

name data1 data2 total
chris a b 100
a a 100
a a 100
steve b b 90
b a 90
b a 91
jane b a 89
a a 90
a a 92

its hard to line things up in here..... anyway... each name has two more lines of data associated with it. i want to take the 4th column last line for each and sort from greatest to smallest and rearrange all the data but keeping all three lines associated with each person together. one added complication. the number of ppl in this will vary although i can do a count of every three lines and tell exactly how many there will be. so for this purpose we can just keep it at three.

in this case, all three lines associated with jane should be moved up above the three lines of steve but stay below the three lines of chris. and the three lines for each person stay in the same order they are now

Average Of Multiple Ranges

Jun 2, 2009

I have a list of grade from 2~4 (i have long list but for sample i made it short). I want to get average of all grades one by one as well as by making some groups. Like 2,3, "2~4" (all groups) then "3~4". All the things were going nicely with a drop down menu. But when i put average on grde "3~4" only then the problem occurred. Although I've done my work but still I think there must be some improvements.....

Transpose Macro Varying Rows From 1 Column

Aug 22, 2009

I've trawled a few forums for a while now trying to find a macro that matches my specifications, or one I can adapt but so far have been unsuccessful, so here goes:

I have one column of data (col. A) of customer names and addresses each with an empty row in between them. The lines of data relating to each customer vary from 6 rows to 14 rows, then an empty row, then the next customer and so on - for several thousand rows.

I am wanting to create a macro that will transpose each customer to either their own row in sheet2, or to column B and then delete column A at the end.

All I can find is macros for a specific number of rows rather than varying. One way would be to have a code that 'pads' out those customers with fewer than 14 lines by inserting rows to make them 14, and then a code to transpose 15 rows at a time.

Subtraction Of Column Ranges Within Average Ifs Function?

Feb 14, 2014

This time I have a situation like this:

Column A - Dates
Column B - Equipment Type
Column C - Load Start Time
Column D - Load End Time

I need to do some statistical analysis (average, mode, medium, st dev) on the load times, which is load start time - load end time. As far as I know, I can't subtract ranges (column d i column c) within Averageifs function. I assume I would need to use an array function for this.

Sum For Varying Date Ranges

Jul 2, 2008

What I'm trying to do is sum the daily interest of a loan for any range of dates. Imagine this example:

1) In column A you have dates from 01/01/2009 through 12/31/2059, with each individual day showing, so literally thousands of cells.

2) In column B you have just random values corresponding to each date, such as $100,000 on 01/01/2009, $139,000 on 01/02/2009, $52 on 01/03/2009, and so forth. These values occupy as many cells as the dates, i.e. there's a cash flow (value) for every date.

3) I want to run a formula in column C that will sum a date range I specify. For example, if I want to sum all the daily values for each month (i.e. the 1st through the 30th), or if I want to sum all the daily values for the 15th of a month through the 14th of the following month. In other words, the loan can start on any date, and I need to sum the interest for each "monthly anniversary."

4) I'm thinking that the formula will have to be different to sum an actual entire month. For example, formulas to sum from, say, the 15th of one month through the 14th of the next month, or the 10th of one month through the 9th of the next month, might be similar.

However, as there is a varying number of days in most months, that formula might not work (though I might be misunderstanding myself) when trying to sum the values for an entire month, i.e. February 1st through 28th. I think it might be solved by some sort of "if," such as if day = 1, then sum whole month, otherwise some from date through same date of next month less the last date's cash flows?

SUM Varying Ranges Based On Different Criteria

May 30, 2012

SUM formula. My spreadsheet has roughly 8000 rows of data listing client info for how many commercials were purchased on Cable Networks a (a simplified example)...

ABCDE1ClientNetworkDay-partPrioritySold2Client AHGTVAccess35063Client BHGTVPrime45014
Client CHGTVDaytime30095Client AHGTVPrime45096Client DHGTVPrime35037Client BHGTVPrime5502

What I am attempting to do is on Sheet2 summarize the commercials sold based on a starting Priority. So if the priority code in Column D is 350, I need to sum all spot sold at a priority of 350 and higher for each day-part and Network

ABCD1NetworkDay-partPrioritySold2HGTVPrime350 and up
?3HGTVPrime400 and up ?4HGTVPrime450 and up
?5HGTVPrime550 and up ?6HGTVPrime600 and up ?7HGTVPrime650 ?

I've attempted to create helper columns to tie all the necessary PR codes together and then SUMIF by the different helper columns, but I'm not getting the correct result. Instead of getting "15" for Sheet2, D2... I'm just getting "3"

This works fine with single commands, however, when I take a cell (based off the last row and the last column) and try to give that cell multiple commands excel sends back an error. When I use this multiple command (see part of code that is marked in red) for a range that is not based off the last column it works fine.

Average Multiple Indirect From Dynamic List

Dec 18, 2012

I have a list of named cells (i.e. Group1, Group2, Group3, etc)

I have a form control that allows the user to select which of the groups they would like to include.

I need to create a series of formulas that average the price of all the chosen groups. So if they just want to average Group1, Group3, Group5 they could do so by simply selecting the checkboxes associated with those names.

I am struggling to be able to create a formula which will look at the list of chosen values and Average only those names. If all groups were chosen this would be easy as I would simply use the:=Average(indirect(a1),indirect(a2)...and so on. However that assumes that I always know which values are being chosen. I have a fixed list of choices but if they don't choose one of the options then the indirect statement will be referencing a null value which than either returns to me a #REF or will factor in a '0' which then throws off the average.

Update Multiple ComboBox List Fill Ranges

Feb 21, 2008

in A1 there will be a box with LinkedCell set to A1 and ListFillRange set to B1:B5. I now want a similar box in A2, with A2 as LinkedCell. However, when I copy paste the box in A1, it still refers to A1 and B1:B5 (the last part is ok). I can easily change A1 to A2 by just changing it in the properties, but the thing is that I also need these boxes in A3:A100. Someone else helped me out by writing some code, but this is not working correctly yet, probably because I'm doing something wrong.

Also, the ListFillRange might expand in the future. Therefor I would like to know if its possible to select the boxes in A1:A100 and change the ListFillRange to B1:B6 for all at once, or even have a piece of code attached to a command button that recognizes the expanded range and updates it.

I couldn't attach the file because it was to big, therefor I uploaded it with yousendit:
[url]

So in short: I would like all the comboboxes in column E to be linked to the cell underneath and have and option to adjust the listfillrange. The same for column F, but for this one the listfillrange needs to be O8:O11.

I need to average column H from the sheet Tenure IF column E is 1100 or 1090 (formatted as text) and IF column C is equal to 12, 13, or 14 and IF column G is less than or equal to a date and column I if greater than or equal to a date OR if this column is blank.

Macro Code That Takes Average Of Next 24 Cells Down

I am trying to create a macro that can take the average of the the first 24 cells within a sheet, place the answer onto a cell in the next sheet (e.g. sheet2 in cell A1), then go back to the previous sheet, take the average of the next 24 cells within the sheet and paste the average of this new set in A2. Add AVERAGE Formulas To Cells Using Variables In Macro Code

Apr 15, 2008

I am trying to have the formula =( SUMIF(S2:S125,">0",S2:S125))/(COUNTIF(S2:S125,">0")) Put into cells through vba. What I did to get the formula is typed it into an excel cell to find the average of a group of cells that do contain blank cells. The formula brought out the proper results. So all I did is put the formula into vba and changed the appropriate parts. The range will not be the same of course, but there is what I have.

ActiveCell.Formula = "=(SUMIF(" & ActiveCell.Offset(orow + 2, 0).Address & ":" & ActiveCell.Offset(-1, 0).Address & ","">0""" & "," & ActiveCell.Offset(orow + 2, 0).Address & ":" & ActiveCell.Offset(-1, 0).Address & "))/(COUNTIF(" & ActiveCell.Offset(orow + 2, 0).Address & ":" & ActiveCell.Offset(-1, 0).Address & ","">0""" & "))"

When I show a msgbox for ActiveCell.Formula (Msgbox activecell.formula), it shows me the formula as above - =(SUMIF(S2:S125,">0",S2:S125))/(COUNTIF(S2:S125,">0")) Except instead of the s:ranges, it shows $L2:$L125 (which is correct). The quotes do show up around the criteria in both the sumif and countif. I keep receiving an error. I put a msgbox err.description & ", " err.number dialog in. The error comes up as ", 0" (no quotes).

Multiple Dynamic Name Ranges In Same Column

Apr 24, 2007

I have a huge database. The rows are broken up by the groups. The columns are broken up by months, quarters, and totals. All the named ranges are the same exact size because all groups have the same category names and all columns have the same amount of months and quarter columns. So it sort of looks like this

Actual 2006-----------------------------Actual 2007
Group Category Jan Feb Q1 Total-------Group Category Jan Feb Q1 Total
100 Labor Cost 220 130
100 Labor Cost-Expense
Group Category Jan Feb Q1 Total
101 Labor Cost
101 Labor Cost-Expense

Hopefully this gives you a good idea of what the spredsheet format is. Right now I have named ranges for all the groups and years. So the top left name is A06_100, then it goes A06_101, etc. What I'm trying to do is set this up as easy as possible to insert rows in the named ranges and keep the named range, because they are referenced a lot in other worksheets. Also if any columns get added. Basically I want it as user friendly as possible so when people change things it stays together.

Sum Of Multiple Cells Within Multiple Sheets With Varying Criteria

May 5, 2013

I have a spreadsheet that has about 50 sheets and a summary sheet at the front the layout of the summary sheet is column A has skill sets from A4 to A20 and across the top it has week commencing dates from F3 to about BA3 (dates go from w/c 06/05/13 to 08/12/14). On the other sheets they have the dates in the same columns but the skill sets vary as to each project, some projects may have two of the same skill set in column A because there is two people needed who can do the same thing, I need to total up the days over the sheets for each week and skill set.

I have been using the SUMIF formula as follows:

=SUMIF('Sheet2'!A8:A10,'Summary'!A4,'Sheet2'!F8:F10)+SUMIF('Sheet3'!A8:A15,'Summary'!A4,'Sheet3'!F8:F15)

And so on for each sheet and then change the formula for the next skill set and then again for the next column.

Is there a way of doing this without having to enter a formula into each cell, at the moment I am coping and pasting the formula into word to do a find and replace to change the SummaryA4 to SummaryA5 etc and then into the next cell for the corresponding date.

So to make this seem like it makes any sense I am looking for say an 'Administrator' in all the project sheets over all the dates and for it to add it up for the summary sheet. Under the corresponding week against the skill set.

So it would be F4:F20 for w/c 06/05/13, G4:G20 for w/c 13/05/13 and so on until all skill sets.
