what i want is for the button to brign up the graph when clicked and hide the graph when clicked again.
being such a newbie to this i'm just fumbling in the dark. with a bic lighter. that my companios keep blowing out cause they think its funny.

I have a table of data which contains company names, the number of high risk policies, number of low risk policies, and the percentage of high risk policies (compared to total policies).
What I want to do is for people to be able to select up to six of these companies and press a button that says 'create graph' and it creates a graph which shows the number of high risk and low risk in a stacked bar, and the percentage on a separate axis as a line. I know how to manually create this graph no problem, but to be able to dynamically create one from selected companies would be awesome.
To start with I have created six drop downs where you can select the company name as I image the macro will need to know which companies' data to look for in the source table.
I have two issues with an excel graph to automate it.
My first problem is that I have to manually select the source data when the data changes inside my spreadsheet. I have 35 slots that represent a 5 week period. Because the first day of the month does not always start on the first day of the week, I have to allow the extra 5 slots in my template. I have the cells set to show blank when there is no data entered in certain cells. Therefore, only days that the machine is up gets put into the 35 cell table. When I do this, the blank cells show up as 0 on the graph and it skews the line. I need some solution that will allow me to tell the graph to ignore zeros.
The second issue is the title in my graph. I have a set title, but need it to pull "Month Year" and "c81" from the worksheet it is on. I cannot seem to get it to populate automatically in the label. I would like it to look like the following:

MTD PCT (%c81%)
where the %name% is the automatically populated item. I don't necessarily have a problem with hiding a cell and linking the label to that cell inside the graph, but I need it to change those two items automatically.
Im certain that a resolution to both of these items exist and I am certain it is an easy thing that I will be kicking myself in the rear over once I find out the resolution, but I need to get this done and im tired of wasting time. I hope this makes sense. If you need me to post an excel file as an example, I will be more than happy to.
In the code below I am defining ranges in a sheet and then using an offset and a scrollbar linked to the offsets. Then I make a graph using the data so that I can use the scroll bars to move the linegraphy left or right to compare the data sets.
My problem comes when linking the values to the graph. I know I can do this by referring directly to the xls file, but as I have loads of different files I want to apply this to I would rather use an active workbook reference...however this does not seem to work. The current code referring to the sheets works but then I have to go into the graphs and change the source data to get them to operate off the scroll bars.
I am building a form and want to display (or activate) a drop down list only when an radio button is active. I have 4 radio buttons and want to link to to 4 different drop downs. But only have the drop downs active if the button is clicked.

1-I would like to create a type of link or button that would exist in the cell "Johny Smith" so that when a teacher clicks on that name excel would generate a graph or pie chart for the specific data associated with Johny and when a teacher clicks on Betty a different graph would pop up. I know teachers can just highlight the data and insert charts, but many of them don't know how to do that. I have been asked to make the process a one click function.

Basically i created to buttons; one is a fixed button "MemFeeFix1" that will copy a value into 11 other cells because these values represent months in a year. Ie: Chamber Expense $12 so then i click the option button under the Fixed Column then it copies it into then next 12 months. I couldnt fit my worksheet as it is too big. Anyways i have another button "MemFeeVar1" in the Varable Column and if click variable then it places a "0" into the following 11 months.....
I am trying to implement the idea of creating an application with two workbooks: a hidden code workbook (CodeWb) that holds all of the forms and macros, and a separate visible data workbook (DataWb) that uses the macros in CodeWb. The DataWb houses a little bit of VBA code to open the CodeWb, which then supplies the programming power to handle click events, etc., performed by the user in the DataWb.
I have advanced to the point of being able to open CodeWb from DataWb and trigger execution of a macro named "DataFileOpen" in CodeWb. This macro initializes things in DataWb and creates buttons there on a particular sheet, using the line:
Application.Run "CodeWb.xlsm!DataFileOpen"
So far so good. This works fine. My problem is that nothing happens when I click on the buttons created in DataWb, with their event handling code residing in CodeWb. Obviously, I'm missing something that maintains a connection between the two workbooks.
How can I use the code in CodeWb to handle all events occurring in DataWb?
I have a long series of graph about 25 on one work sheet, i write a simple macro and attach to a button, that when pressed prints all graphs on the sheet. Now I need a macro that perform the following.
a) user is allowed to enter the desired number of graph and it prints only that chart from the sheet. If he enters 4 it prints only 4th graph
b) User is allowed to enter the range and it prints all graph in that range. e.g if user enters 3 - 7 it prints only 3 to 7 graphs
I have about 30 work books, each with about 10 worksheets. Each worksheet has about 2 graphs (some have many as 10).
I need to change the fonts, background colors, colors of the bars, etc. About 10 changes in all - to each graph.
I clicked on one graph in sheet 1 and recorded the changes. I then clicked on the next graph and applied the macro I made.
Can someone explain to me how I go about applying the macro I created to the 200+ graphs I have? (I am currently getting an error 91.)

I am trying to figure out how to activate a macro from each item in a drop down list. I also need the macro to recognize which item is chosen and to use that items data (say cells C3:C11) to create its graph. I know how to create an individual macro that will create a graph for the item but not a general macro that can be used to graph all items just discerning the difference in where the data is (which item to graph). Is this possible????if so please include code (amatuer programmer).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to make a scatter graph that will graph the attached. The score would be on the Y axis and the birth date would be on the X axis. This is simple to do by itself but what I would like to do in addition to this is to have the top 25% of the scores a single color, the middle 50% of the scores a second color and then the bottom 25% of the scores to be a third color. And if it is possible to have the ID visible when you move your cursor over a given dot in the graph. Currently when I make a scatter graph the X,Y coordinates show when I hoover the cursor over a dot.

I've been trying to work out a code for a while now to plot some series in rows on a graph. The wonderful Mr Pope helped me with one before but for series in columns but i just don't seem to understand it enough to use it for this problem. the graph already has 2 series plotted (called the envelope) so i have to use seperate series to plot the data.
Basically the name of series is down column A
but the range is from E1 to Y1
and the data to be plotted on the graph which already has two series plotted in it is E2 to Y2, E3 to Y3 etc. iv been trying to use this code but failing miserably

How can i make a graph that will graph against time? lets say i have a bank balance like this:
1/2/2000 $500
1/3/2000 $600
3/12/2000 $400
there may be more than one entry on any one given day, or there may not be an entry for 2 weeks. How can i graph the running balance in a way that it will show the timeline just as a calendar year(or however long i selected) and the points are plotting according to their date, not just equally spaced out.
column A = Date : 01/02, 07/02, 14/02, 21/02, 28/02 (x-axis : shows when the table is updated)
column B = project: x, x, x, x, ,x (name of the project and trend line)
column C = Delivery Date : 01/05/2009, 08/05/2009, 20/05/2009, 30/05/2009, 28/02/2009 (plotted on the graph)
column D = Status : Green, Amber, Red, Green, Blue (status of the project. the points should be the same colour as is described in the table)

So id like the macro to draw the line for project x based on the 'delivery date'. The points should be coloured according to the 'status' column and when you hover the mouse over the point the data lable will show up taking info from the 'comments' column.
Would it be possible to create a macro that will be able to generate this graph automatically. I have a few projects id like to do the same thing for.
I've recorded a macro that copies an entire tab into a new spreadsheet then goes on the copy and paste information from one tab to another.
When I run the macro from the Tools>Macros menu it works perfectly.
But when I copy the code and add it to that of a button it fails and posts the following error: Run-time error '1001': Select method of Range class failed.
The first attachement shows the code for the macro as it is alone, and the second shows how I simply copied and pasted it into the 'view code' window of the button.
Needless to say I'm a beginner at macros and only every record them, I can usually make stuff work that way but this has me stumped!

I have a long complicated macro that processes a ton of data and gives the output in a new sheet. I then want to create new buttons (or some sort of user clickable triggers) on this new sheet that runs another macro.
I have got the actual adding of buttons in the sheet working, but I can't find a way to automatically assign macros to newly generated buttons during runtime. Is this even possible (or are there any clever tricks I could use to get around this?)
I want to use a line graph to display an amount over time - that's the easy part. On the other hand, I would like to have to group the lines based on a value.
A short example:
Imagine you own 3 different stores and you're selling oranges. So your table looks like this:

Now I'd like to have one graph (3 different graphs won't work as the rows increase -I need to select the whole column as data source):
Date on the x axis,
Oranges sold on the y axis,
and one line per store (e.g. a green one for store A, a red one for B and a blue one of C, doesn't matter).
Upon opening the worksheet, I'd like to have a startup macro reassign a macro to a button that is already created. We have an issue with two buttons in a custom toolbar that for some reason default to an old (nonexistent) version of the file when looking for the assigned macro. If I could get an opening macro to automatically reassign those buttons to the proper macros inside the current file, then we wouldn't have to have all possible users login and reassign and resave, which seems to be the only solution at the moment.
Reassigning a macro to a button doesn't show up when doing "Record Macro", and if creating a new button and assigning correct macro while "Record Macro" is occurring, VisualBasic only shows the creation of the button and not the assignment of the macro.
How do i make a button run a macro on click, then undo the macros functions on the next click, like an on off button?
