Copying And Pasting Cells From A Worksheet Into A List Format In Another Worksheet

May 18, 2006

I need help with a macro for copying and pasting of cells. I believe this should not be a problem for the Excel VBA experts, but for someone who can only record macro, I'm really at a loss.

Attached is a sample file, where sheet 'Source' is an example of the sheet from which data are to be copied. The other sheet, sheet 'Final' is an example of the final format that I need. The reason I'm doing this is I'm planning to upload my data into Access and so I need to convert them into a list format.

List of target columns in sheet 'Final' and source cells in sheet 'Source':

Column A: Biz ID - not sure if I really need this, by right it should be listed automatically once I paste the data
Column B: B2 of 'Source'
Column C: B2 of 'Source'
Column D: B1 of 'Source'
Column E: row 6, relevant column
column F: column K
column G: row 5, relevant column
column H: the specific amount

So basically I'm creating an entry for every amount in the table.

Efficient Way To Find All Cells With Particular Format

Feb 8, 2013

I have a lot of data with the wrong number format. I want to find all cells with this particular number format and change it to another.

I know I can do this by looping through all the cells on the sheet or by using the find method, but both ways require looping. I am hoping there is a quicker way. I originally thought there was a SpecialCells type that was format conditional (not conditional formatting), but there doesn't seem to be one.

Find Time Format Cells And Convert To Date

I am pasting a large amount of data from a sql server query into excel. There is multiple tables output in each query. Some of the data is date/time and excel is formatting all of these cells to time. The date/time cells to not neatly line up in any row or column, so I cannot just format any give column or row. I need a macro that will find all of the cells that are formatted as time and change them to a date format.

Macro To Format Cells Only Once

Jul 5, 2012

I have a spreadsheet that uses a macro to format it. It’s quite simple and the code is shown below:

Code:
Range("A1:D2").Select
Selection.Borders(xlDiagonalDown).LineStyle = xlNone
Selection.Borders(xlDiagonalUp).LineStyle = xlNone
With Selection.Borders(xlEdgeLeft)
.LineStyle = xlContinuous
.Weight = xlThin
.ColorIndex = xlAutomatic

[Code] ...........

The spreadsheet will have info constantly added on (downloaded from a CSV).

What I would like the spreadsheet to do is look at the cells and only format those that have data in them but are not already formatted – otherwise I’ll just end up re-formatting everything every time and as the spreadsheet gets bigger it'll take longer and longer.

Macro Used Textbox In Worksheet Rather Than Cell Reference As Criteria To Find Matches

Sep 26, 2013

This is a continuation of thread 182629 [URL] ....

The End User wanted originally to type characters into cell C1 of a worksheet that the macro searched for in another worksheet, copying across every row containing the input.

The responses gave me the following code which worked perfectly:

VB:
With Sheets("PICKLIST")
myFind = "*" & .[c1].Value & "*"
End With
If myFind = "*" & "" & "*" Then Exit Sub

Unfortunately, the user NOW wants a Text Box instead of putting the characters into a cell.

I added a textbox (originally called 'TextBox2' but renamed "Choice") and "Dimed" CHOICE As Range.

Then tried the following code:

VB:
With Sheets("PICKLIST")
myFind = "*" & CHOICE & "*"
End With

But it generates a "RunTime Error 91" - Object variable or With block variable not set.

Macro To Conditionally Format Referenced Cells In Another Sheet

Apr 27, 2013

A
B
C
D

[Code]....

There are four sheets (labeled A,B,C)

Depending on the contents in cells in Columns A and B (which have 1000+ rows), I want to change the background color of a referenced cell elsewhere:

For each row (lets say from 2-1000)

1. If "A" cell is blank -- referenced cell (address in columns C & D) should be colorless -- (as in Row 2 --- cell Z5 in Sheet "C" should be colorless)

2. If "A" cell has text AND "B" cell is blank, reference cell should be colored BLUE -- (as in Row 3 --- Cell F3 in Sheet "C" should be BLUE)

3. If both "A" and "B" cells have text, reference cell should be colored YELLOW -- (as in Row 4 --- Cell C5 in Sheet "B" should be YELLOW)

While I could do this with a conditional format in every referenced cell, it would take too long to enter them.

Excel 2010 :: Populate Cells From Listbox Drag / Drop - Can't Find First Empty Row On Worksheet

Feb 1, 2014

I am running Excel 2010 and Windows 7.

I have a form with a main list box and several other list boxes. I drag and drop records from the main list box to the others. When I drop a record onto one of the list boxes, a corresponding worksheet is updated with the same record. This works just fine.

The problem I have is:I close and re-open the form after having added some dataDrag/Drop a record to the list boxThe worksheet won't find the first empty rowExample: If the worksheet already contains 4 rows of data, I have to drag/drop 5 times before the fifth row will be updatedI would like to drop the data the first time and have the first blank row updated

Notes:

1.) I have tried variations of "xlUp", "xlDown", and SpecialCells(xlCellTypeLastCell) in the "Worksheets("Monday")... line of code; all to no avail.

2.) The cells contain formatting (borders)

Here is the relevant code:

Code:

'Copy items from the list box to the worksheet
For intI = 1 To ListBox2.ListCount
For intJ = 1 To ListBox2.ColumnCount
If IsEmpty(Worksheets("Monday").Cells(intI + 1, intJ)) Then
Worksheets("Monday").Cells(intI + 1, intJ).Value = ListBox2.List(intI - 1, intJ - 1)
End If
Next intJ
Next intI

Find Macro And Insert Cut Cells?

Dec 21, 2013

I have a worksheet with several thousand rows. During a month new entries are added at the bottom of the previous entries. One of the columns for each entry is a stock symbol and I've written a macro to enable going quickly to any specific stock symbol's location by searching for the symbol.

Once a month I select rows for some of the new entries for a given symbol, cut the relevant rows, activate the macro to find the location of other entries of the same symbol, and then "Insert Cut Cells" so as to move the new rows to the same area as other similar older entries.

What I was finding was that activating the macro was causing a recalculation of the workbook, which delays the macro from finding the symbol in question. This was getting bothersome, so I avoided the delay by adding an Application.Calculation = xlCalculationManual to the beginning of the macro, and at the end of the macro I reset the Calculation back to Automatic.

This eliminates the delay, in finding the old symbol, but it also clears out whatever memory location was storing the cut cells, so that I don't have the "Insert Cut Cells" option available once I get to the found location.

So, currently I have either: A) a quick find of the symbol, but I can't use the "Insert Cut Cells" feature, or B) I have a delay in the finding, but am able to Insert.

how I can have the quick find of the macro but still retain the ability to Insert the cut cells ?

Macro To Find Word And Delete Group Of Cells?

Aug 1, 2014

I have an excel file, where there is a section "Additional Requirements". This section is repeated like 20-25 times in the sheet and has a group of merged cells below it to enter data as shown in the picture. Issue is that majority of these "Additional Requirements" are not filled by the user. Hence maybe only 3 or 4 are filled and I have to manually delete the rest. I tried the code below, but it doesn't do anything.Running the macro just jumps the cells slowly downwards the sheet. Maybe if the macro runs 10-15 times it reads the whole code and then moves on to the next row.8-1-2014 12-43-27 PM.png What I'm trying to achieve is:

1. for the macro to find "Additional Requirements"

2. Then check the Merged cell below it (thus the offset)

3. If this cell is blank, select this cell and the cell containing "Additional Requirements"

4. Delete entire rows of these cells/delete the selection (entirerow.delete). (I read somewhere to set a variable as selection and clear it, hence ive included in the unreadable code. This wasn't working either)

Macro To Find Duplicates And Consolidate Certain Relative Cells?

Feb 5, 2014

I am currently working on a project where i am given a sheet that typically has several hundred rows of data and not seemingly organized in any manner. This document has 6 columns, and my main focus is a range of dates (in MMM-YYYY form) from around early 2000 to now that can have duplicates. The dates(Column C), have corresponding Usages (Column D), and Costs (Column F) and I need to add these values together and remove the duplicate months so I only have one Usage and one cost Per month.

My spreadsheet has 6 Columns of data, and varying number of rows. Currently, since I receive the numbers in an unorganized fashion, my macro organizes the data into a table and then sorts the table be date so I have the oldest dates first and the duplicates are adjacent. There may be varying numbers of duplicates, though typically 0 to 4.

Macro To Find Positive Value In One Cell Then Copy Value Of Corresponding Cells

Nov 11, 2009

I have a 'rota' worksheet that includes staff names and their rostered hours on all dates through the month.

On each date of the month I need excel to find that date in column A and then look across the row to find any cells that aren't blank. When the cell has a value I need the name above it in row 1 and the value (number of hours) itself to copy across to a 'daily activities' sheet. The date is autopopulating on this sheet in cell H5.

The name needs to drop into column A and the hours worked into column B. I would like the first cell to be A9 and then down from there with no spaces in between names. The other info on the sheet will then complete itself using the name that has been dropped in using VLookup.

I'm presuming I can use a macro to do this for me but am really struggling where to start with it, and how to ignore blank cells as they will change cells on a monthly basis.
