Multiple Files To 1 Master File

Dec 19, 2013

I have a department of around 20 ppl, each have excel files that can contain upto 10 tabs with those in turn possibly containing upto 500 lines each.

I now need to take totals from each person, linking it back to my one 'master' file.

Now i could do this with various VLookups but speed would be an issue here. I will be working off company servers too, so shared drives are involved.

Order is not important for appending (I can do a column sort later) I can do copying and pasting, but this will take a long time especially because I will creating more master files from completely different CSVs in the future. Is there a faster way to append CSV files?

Macro To Add New Sheet To Many Excel Files From A Master File?

Jul 11, 2013

I have many folders (around 500) - each of them contains a excel file (the excel files have all the same name), ideally I would like to be able to run a macro from a master excel file that would allow me to add a sheet which I would create in the master excel file and add it to all of the excel files that are in the folders. So far I have used the code from the link: [URL]

VB:
Sub CopyWorkbook()
Dim sh As Worksheet, wb As workbook
Set wb = workbooks("1.xlsx")

[Code].....

but when I change it from 2.xlsx to 1.xslx in the code it works just fine, copying the sheets from the file to itself.

Pasting Data From A Master File To Two Other Files

Nov 15, 2009

My project requires working with 3 different files, in my example here: Delivery Status, Warehouse, and Clients. Delivery Status is the master file where the information is gathered at first. Then when the product arrives, from the column "AI" I choose the Destination which it could be a warehouse or client. So far the code that I have can paste the information in different sheets within the File Warehouse, but can not make the difference between the File warehouse and the file Clients.

In the Delivery Status file I can choose from the Column AI whether the destination is a warehouse or a client and I need Excel to paste the information in the proper file. Have in mind that I have a lot of sheets in both files. I am attaching an example files with the code.

Consolidating Certain Information Within Many Data Files Into Single Tab In Master File

Feb 14, 2013

I'm a relatively competent VBA user to a macro recorder and basic editing of custom code level but fall short with writing custom code and don't have much used or proven code I can copy from.

Problem: I'd like to automate a process whereby consolidating certain information within many data files (possibly up to 500) into a single tab within a master file.

At the moment there are only a few data files which are manually consolidated by way of manual links but going forward it will increase significantly, hence the need to automate.

I need to consolidate the following 5 cells from each data file A1, A2, A5, A7, A8 (vertical) into a single row within the master file across 5 columns (horizontal), i.e. each data file will populate 1 row in the master file, one below the other. If there are 500 data files there will be 500 rows of data in the master file.

The data files will be saved in a central location on our server and the master file will sit outside this folder, possibly in a subfolder.

Something which would be handy is a link in the master file to each data file, i.e. if I click on a data row in the master file it would jump to the source data file.

Open Set Of Files To Fetch Data Starting From A Master File Where The Links Are Given Using A Loop

Aug 29, 2006

I am trying to open set of excel files to fetch data starting from a master excel file where the links are given using a loop. Some of files given as links are either absent or the link is wrong.

* What is the syntax to find if the link is correct/present

* What is the syntax to find if the file is present in specified location

* What is the syntax to find if the file is password protected to open

* I use error handler to resume the next statement if OPEN statement fails.It works fine inside the loop only for first two files.

For example if the third link is errorneous the error handler fails and RUN TIME ERROR occurs.

Collect Data From Files

Jun 1, 2008

I have 2 excel files(X and Y), and I would like to collect data from file X to file Y.
.................
In file X, I have a products prices lists that I got from my supplier. It look like that:
column:
A = LIST NUMBER (NUMBER)
B=ITEM NUMBER (TEXT)
C=DESCRIPTION (TEXT)
D=PRICE (TEXT OR "CALL" OR PRICE LIKE $90.00)
E= LIST NUMBER (NUMBER)
F=ITEM NUMBER (TEXT)
G=DESCRIPTION (TEXT)
H=PRICE (TEXT OR "CALL" OR PRICE LIKE $90.00)

Rows of A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H start from 1 to 400
..................
In file Y, I have 1 column and it looks like that:
column:
A= MODEL NUMBER (TEXT OR NUMBER)
..................

The calculation I would like to do is:

pass in each ROW of Coulmn A in file Y and search if there is the same MODEL NUMBER (TEXT OR NUMBER) in file X at ROWS C,G (The DESCRIPTION (TEXT)) for example:

If in file Y Column A1 = FG45673 (MODEL NUMBER ) the macro will look in file X in Columns C,G to see if it finds this MODEL NUMBER. It can find text like: "3 pcs of FG45673 " so it means it find it !
THEN the MACRO should copy from the price Columns D or H to Column B of file Y.

In other words to collect the products prices from file X according to their model number field and to copy it to the same MODEL NUMBER of file Y.

in file X there are 2 lists of products prices as you can understand from my info.

Consolidate All Data In Multiple Worksheets Of Multiple Workbooks In One Master File?

I am currently using both excel 2007 and excel 2010. This macro would really reduce manual work as currently consolidating data from 45 to 50 sheets takes an ample amount of time...

Create Master File With Macro Built In That Will Allow Multiple Users To Use It At Once

I am trying to create a master file, with a macro built in, that will allow multiple users to use it at once. The macro is to open a dilouge(sp sorry) box showing the contents of a specific folder, allow the user to selct one of the sheets, then copy and paste the set details from the hidden tab on this sheet (All sheets will be the same barring title), append the details to the master list in the first empty row.

I've got this far thus
Sub Macro1()
'
' Macro1 Macro
'
'
' Modify this folder path to point to the files you want to use.
FolderPath = "My Folder name here"

' Set the current directory to the the folder path.

Vlookup: Pull From Files Into A Master File

Sep 11, 2009

I have six files that are formatted the same(fld1-1.xlsx, fld1-2.xlsx...). Each file contains an I.D. number (random 25 digit number) in column A and a note (1-9) in column B. The only thing that changes between files is the note column. I want to pull from these six files into a master file. When all six files are combined the note column in the master file is complete, there are no duplicates. Because a blank vlookup returns a zero, could I use an IF formula. Something like IF VLOOKUP FROM data01(ISNUMBER(0), then vlookup in file data02. IF VLOOKUP FROM data02(ISNUMBER(0), then vlookup in file data03.

Create Subfiles From Master File Using Key To Split Workbooks To Separate Files

Jun 13, 2013

I am trying to make my macro more dynamic for a spreadsheet I am working on. I have this code which splits out worksheets (using the specific names of the worksheets-not dynamic) from a main workbook into template workbooks (which are basically just an empty workbook because I didn't know how else to do it) and then saves them using the paths below. I would like to make this more dynamic by splitting the different worksheets into new workbooks based on a key column in the hierarchy worksheet.

Basically I have a list of accounts in column B with the file name they should be exported to in column A. There are about 30 accounts being split into 6 different region files. Also note that the same account might be listed multiple times in column A (needed to add multiple numbers for other lookup formulas in the worksheets) but that account worksheet will still only be going to one of the six region files and not to multiple regions. After these are copied to an individual file I would like to save it to a location on my computer. All files will go to this location.

VB:
Sub Create_Subfiles()

Dim FDMName As String
Dim FBName As String
Dim DIYName As String
Dim WMName As String

[Code] .....

Transfers (copy/paste) Information From One Master File To Several Other Individual Files

Apr 16, 2009

I have a macro that transfers (copy/paste) information from one master file to several other individual files. The macro works, but I would like
to enhance it by have it spit out errors in the process as follows: if cell A42 on file VP1.xls is not equal to Cell C35 on file Masterfile.xls then make cell E2 ERROR and fomat E2 bold-red, otherwise do nothing. The macro should continue regardless, I just want it to spot errors.
I think this is pretty simple is just a matter of inserting an IF formula in the macro which is something i don't know how to do yet.

Copying Data In Specified Cells In Multiple Files To A New File

Apr 12, 2006

I have about a thousand Excel timesheets that all contain 'hours worked' data in a column. Each row contains the area of the project they have worked on and therefore the amount of time they have spent on it. The timesheets also contain the person's name and a w/e date.

I want to sequentially work through each timesheet held locally in a single folder and copy the person's name, w/e date and the hours held in the column into a single new spreadsheet. I need to transpose the data so each amount of time spent on an activity ends up in a column.

I have attempted to record a macro for this but each time I try and run it after the intitial run, it moves to a completely different cell or set of cells to the ones I have directed it and consequently there is no data copied to the new sheet.

I believe this is the first problem..! The second is working through a high number of spreadsheets held in a single locattion but whilst browsing this site I saw the "Excel VBA Loop Through a Folder of Excel Workbooks" page and think this should work fine.

Macro Copy Data From Multiple Workbooks Into Master Workbook

Aug 4, 2012

I have 17 workbooks which contain similar data and formatting. The only variance is the number of rows of data in each. I want to write a macro in the Master worksheet that will accomplish the following

1. Create a worksheet name in the master workbook with the same name as the workbook that it's pulling data from.
2. Copy over the column headings from columns A:P to the newly created worksheet on the master workbook
3. Copy over all rows that contain the word "down" under column D titled Operational status

The naming convention for the master workbook will be titled "All Switches". The naming convention for the worksheets containing the data are titled Port_Map_on_tiegcsw01, Port_Map_on_tiegcsw02, Port_Map_on_nypgcsw01. There are other names , but I can reference the code an update accordingly.

I found some searches on the forum for creating a macro to copy data between workbooks, but not quite sure how to write the macro for the three functions.

Gathering Data From Multiple Excel Files Into Consolidated File?

Feb 12, 2014

Trying to learn the basics of how to pull data, from the same formatted excel spreadsheets, combined into one consolidated spreadsheet. I created a few examples below of what I am trying to do. Eventually, I want to be gathering data from over 200 spreadsheets at one time. I believe that a MACRO is needed to do such a thing. I am not sure of the complexity of the MACRO, so hopefully I will be able to mimic whatever needs to be done in my actual file. I have almost ZERO experience with MACROS, so if this is way above entry level MACRO.

Below I have 3 spreadsheets, and I want to collect the data from those 3 spreadsheets into the consolidated spreadsheet.

Formula / Function To Collect Data From Multiple Sheets And Store Data In One Sheet?

Dec 17, 2013

- I have total of 13 sheets in a workbook - 12 sheets represent 12 months with data; 13th sheet is single sheet in which i would like to get complete overview of 12 months

- each of 12 sheets has actually sales results for multiple products with following data: internal code, manufacturer part number, name, and qty sold in that month

- situation is that some products have been phased out during the year and some were introduced so each sheet is slightly different in terms of in which row certain product is located

What i would like to achive is to make 13th sheet (whole year overview) do the following:
- there is a list of all the products in it, each product has unique internal code - this code (from each line) should be used to find that code in each monthly sheet, then find its monthly sales value (copy it) and paste it in sheet 13 in cell that represents this product and particular month.

In other words i would like to see for each product what was monthly sales throughout this year, but avoid manually filling in qty for each product per month.

Macro To Pull Data From Dynamic Named Multiple Worksheets Weekly Into A Master Sheet

Jul 11, 2014

Attached is a master metrics deck, where data needs to be refreshed every week, from two different workbooks.

The catch is, the two parent workbooks would be new versions every week (data would be same format, and style within), but file name would change each week, for eg: for 1st workbook, 'XXX_Weekly_Week24.xlsx' to 'XXX_Weekly_Week25.xlsx' and so on.

for 2nd workbook, 'YYY_Weekly_Week24.xlsx' to 'YYY_Weekly_Week25.xlsx' and so on.

In the master metrics deck, a consolidated vew of some of data from workbook 1 and workbook 2 is presented for each week.

This master file would remain same, and only be refreshed each week (preferably with a button on its sheet "REFRESH!!")

Next, need to manually change cells C2:G2 each week to reflect week titles correctly.

For e.g.: week6 would show week 1 through week 5, but during week7, it needs to show week 2 to week 6. Only last five weeks of data any given time.

The first datarows of each set are conditionally formatted (they are compared with other rows in the set and need to reflect danger values, good values etc) (I have done that already).

Summarizing Data To Collect Attributes From Multiple Instances

Oct 27, 2013

My company would receive RFQs from potential customers inquiring the availability of different products, and we are trying to summarise these requests to find a trend.

Each product has several attributes, such as descriptions, keywords, manufacturer's code, etc. The RFQs are all different, with each request providing some attributes while missing others. The only reliably uniform attribute is the product number.

I am trying to build a database with the maximum amount of details on each requested product, therefore consolidating the different requests. I already put the source data on the same sheet and sorted the product numbers. I also know how many instances there are for each product number. In other words, my data look like this:

Product number (sorted)
Repeat count
Attribute 1
Attribute 2

111a
2
aaaa

[Code] .........

Note:
1. The product numbers and repeat count are reliable
2. All the attributes are valid, i.e. as long as one can fill a blank I would take it
3. If none of the instances provide a certain attribute, it is acceptable for it to be left blank

And I am trying to turn it into this:

Product number
(sorted)
Repeat count
Attribute 1
Attribute 2

111a
2
aaaa
bbbb

123456
1
abcde

100x
3
123456
wxyz

I already spent a whole day trying to do it with MATCH, OFFSET, VLOOKUP etc to no avail. It seems I would need some kind of VBS with loop and array functionalities that are beyond me.
