Here is an example of the information. I need a formula that will match data from one column (column A in example), then when matched (column C) add data from (Column B) to another another (column D).

I am trying to match data from 2 independent sets, formatted slightly differently so not sure which function would work best for me. From the attached file, I am trying to match the date and time stamp (in cell A1) with that from the other data (in this example in cell E1) and return the data (from cell F1) to cell C1. So basically any date and time stamp before 04/03/09 04:00 will return a value of 44 (this value should appear, therefore in cells C1 - C30)

I have an excel workbook with 2 worksheets. One worksheet shows the MASTER LIST of COMPLETE Customer Names (e.g. ABB Supplies Incorporated). The other worksheet has information on customers but the customer names typed in are incomplete (e.g. ABC Supplies). I need a macro that would look do a comparison of the customer names in the 2nd worksheet to the Master List worksheet and pull the data (complete name, address, etc.) for those that would match (partial match since company name is 2nd worksheet is usually incomplete).

I have a lot of data to filter / sort. I want to initially to create a filter for a column of data - which has the format similar to hierarchical paths to files. The data is a mix of text/numbers. e.g.

Doing an alphabetical sort of this date would return the following order. As you can see while each strings in unique - there are many instances where they are simialr - if you ignore the unique numeric values at the end of the string.

So what I want to do is to create a filter for the strings - but ignoring the numeric bits at the end i.e.
reg_[0-9]+_+[0-9]+/d
The strings are obviiously of varying length and the number of hierarchical paths is different, so I can't split string on "/".
Similarly folder paths names can contain "_" so can't split string on this either.
As I don't know how many "/" or "-" instances there will be in the string I don't believe I can use the find function. Also as the amount of number will be different i don't think I can use =right(a1,X) either.
I may be able to search for the pattern above - as this is probabay unique - so maybe it's something like the following pseudo code:

Once I have the filter in place I want to create tables using the filtered data - so for example each column value above has a lot of associated data values in each row e.g

32 pathA/path_123/path_456/data_out_reg_17_0/d

So my table would show the name "data_out_reg" and the range of values 8-32
I have a workbook with data on sheet1 and a summary on sheet 2. I want to use two drop down boxes on sheet 2 (B3 and B6) to look up matching data from sheet 2. What formula is best to enable these two look_up values to be used? I saw an example where the two values were separated by a comma within {} i.e. {B2,B6}, but only got an error when I entered the formula into my Excel 2010 sheet.

This has been working for a few years without a problem.
I lookup and employee number on my sheet to the employee number in the database table.
this is my code that checks the employee number.

The problem is that now the database application has adapted an alpha option (it used to be numeric only). In order for my code to work I have to change the employee number on my sheet by putting a ' in front of it.
Example if the number was 127 I need to enter '127 in the cells.
I have a few thousand in my data.
Can I add some code to my macro so I can still enter just the number in the cells?

Column A was just added to an existing spreadsheet and will be deleted once I accomplish my task. The goal is to come up with the 200 names in column A along with the additional info in the other columns (address, phone) and to delete all of remaining names in B (about 600, 800-200) I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way to do this. I'm not sure if there is a function to match the text in Column A to Column B and at the same time move the row in Column A to match the row the name is located in Column B.
For example John Smith is currently in A1 and John Smith is in B7 and then John's phone number is in C7. I want the John Smith in A1 to move to A7. If I can make that happen for all 200 names I will then delete all rows with no entry in column A.
I want to be able to do, however. I want to make a spreadsheet that has all the equipment items preloaded into it, along with the quantity that we're supposed to have of said equipment. Then, I would like to import the data from the text file, having it match items in the spreadsheet to their equivalent in the imported text file, and then bring in the quantity scanned. That way, I can use some conditional formatting to show when there is a miss match between "Required" and "On-Hand" quantities.
What I don't know how to do, is get Excel to only import the name of the item, and the quantity scanned, instead of all of the information that the scanner spits out. Also, I don't know how to make it match the name, with the one preloaded into the spreadsheet, so that the correct quantities are matched up. Here's an example of what the scanner spits out: FIELD WIRE,6145-01-155-4256,[Scanned Quantity Goes Here],N/A,N/A,RESPONSE TRAILER,,
The scanner creates records like this the first time you scan an item. So if you scan Field Wire first, it's the first record. However, if you scan it fourth, it's the fourth record. How do I make that match up with a predesigned spreadsheet?
I have a spreadsheet, sample data attached. What I need to be able to do is in cell N2 have a formula that does this: Check the range C2:L2 and if the range contains the value in cell A2 return its position on the range (in this case 1). So if cell A2 had the number 32 in it N2 would equal 6.

I need to write a formula that will allow me to compare the LName with LName1 and give me some type of indication there is a match (1, yes, etc.). Ideally, after confirming there is a match, It would create another verification that FName and FName1 also match, but that is not necessary.

Was trying to find the employee ids of the advisors from the database.
I basically have a list of 4000 names in one column (A) and an extract from a report containg 26000 names, again in one column (B). I need to see which of the 4,000 names in (A) appear in the column (B) from the report.
How can I do something to either line up the names, or make them change colour or something so I can see the matches?
I have a spreadsheet that in the 'actual' column runs a MATCH against a different sheet (Data). Now one of my sheets A Mill seems to work correctly but my other sheet C Mill does not work at all -- the 'actual' column is not populated. I cannot see how the formulas differ and am really perplexed.

I am receiving a data from two different sources having multiple information. I want to match the data for any missing entries from one sheet . There is a common column Field N which contains the reference number of the transaction, based on this reference number i require to match these entries. e.g: Sheet A contains serial Number, name, ID Number (not common in both sheets) , amount , name and of course [B]Reference[ Number ( which is common in both the sheets.

I'm attempting to create a mailing list for the company I work for, but the software that has the data record is very limiting. The two tables I received from the program are listed:

I tried to illustrate that the address list has a different customer composition than the sales list; the address list has customers that the sales list doesn't have. This means I can't just sort alphabetically and drag the addresses over. My goal here is to create a datasheet that incorporates both the address and number of sales so that we can send the top 500 customers a mailing. How can I do this?

I have one column full of duplicate names, column A. I have another 2 columns's E & F which contain the unique number and corresponding name to that number. I want to create a formula which i can put in column B which will match every name in A to the name in F but will enter the value as the unique number.
ie
