Aug 1, 2008Is their a maximum as to how many characters/words can be fit into one cell on excel 2000? if so what is the limit? and is their anyway to increase this limit?

Apr 10, 2007I want to force my user to input a date in a userform. I have a normal Textbox and assumed i'd be able to set the properties to mean that imput had to be an integer and the format had to be "00/00/00" but I can't see how to do this.

Oct 9, 2008Look in Column E and find the MAX value. Once you find the MAX value, (let's say E27) display the date that's in C27. I bet this is really easy but I've been screwing around with it for over a half hour and can't get the correct result.

May 15, 2009I have two columns of data. The first column is the 'type' and the second column is the 'value'. I need to find the maximum 'value' for each individual 'type'
The 'types' are not necessarily next to each other and the data cannot be sorted to do so.
Example:

I need to be able to say the MAX for 'A' is 21, the MAX for 'B' is 13 and the MAX for 'C' is 7.

Append All Digits Before Character To All Numbers Between The Same Character
May 18, 2008I have got a list of numeric abbreviations, for instance 10739011/21/31/41. What it should really display are the numbers 10739011, 10739021, 10739031 and 10739041 (the first six figures stay the same). All the numbers in my list are 8 figures long. I want to change the list from the list seperated by the backward slash to the complete numbers. I have uploaded an example of the list with backward slash between the numbers. Is there a way that Excel can automatically change these numbers to the full numbers?
Because all the numbers are 8 figures long, I thought the first 6 figures of the 1st number can be copied and those 6 figures pasted before the other two figures after the backslash. Auto Merged Post Until 24 Hrs Passes;sorry, pressed OK too quickly. The problem is that there are sometimes 4 numbers in the cell, sometimes 6 and once three. I would like Excel to complete all the numbers in the cell and then move on to the cell underneath it and so on. Also, I would like each number to have it's own cell.

May 6, 2008Need a formula/code that will determine what the corrected part number should be (insert dashes if they are missing) by comparing to other values in the list.
Original A1:A5 = {452, a-bc, 123, 4-52, abc}
Corrected C1:C5 = {4-52, a-bc, 123, 4-52, a-bc}
I can do this using an intermediate working column, but can this be done all in one formula, or via VBA?

Jul 24, 2014I am trying to create a macro which gives me an input box. I need to enter 2 numbers into the input box. It would be as follows:
Input Box Msg 1 - "What is your labor cost?" (NUM1)
Input Box Msg 2 - "What is your productivity rate?" (NUM2)
Then I need the macro to take this info and enter it into a formula which changes according to the row which you are on. (I need the macro to work based on which ever cell I currently have selected). The formula would be this if I currently had a cell on row 10 selected:
=(NUM1*(NUM2*$H10))/$H10
So, if I currently had cell L10 selected, and I ran the macro and put 100 in for "NUM1" and 10 for "NUM2" and my sheet had 20 in cell H10, then the macro would enter the number 1,000 into cell L10. If I had L500 selected, then the macro would enter the final number into cell L500 based on what value H500 contained.

Feb 28, 2007I am just starting to get my feet a little damp with VBA and I am trying to make a macro that will act whenever any text is entered in any cell within a 3x3 square. Whenever any text is entered in any of those cells I would like it to enter a text ( "X" ) in a cell which is specified by a cell in the spreadsheet (this cell will output which cell the macro should write the text in in this format "A:1" or "C:3"). How can I make the program act only in reaction to the user entering thier text, and also, how can I get the macro to read A:1 and enter the text into that specific cell? Any help would be so awesome, the book I have is really difficult to navigate.

Feb 6, 2014I am in need of VBA code so that I can fill out an input form generated by someone elses macro input box. (I am the user, not the one developing the input box).
I am working to streamline a whole cluster of macros and this input box is currently my bottleneck. When the input box pops up, instead of me manually typing, I want to autofill the space with "104" and then click 'ok' uisng VBA.
I can not modify the actual VBA that created the input box (ie make 104 the default) because other users need the box to be blank.

Dec 19, 2008I am trying to generate a column that shows which organic suites are needed for each site. I have attached a sample of my spreadsheet.
It is difficult to explain what I am looking for, so I have just put some bullet points down.
Each suite required for each site
Only 1 of each suite to be counted for each site
This will show a total number of each suite needed
What I have so far seems like it is close, but it aways reads as 1 if something is in the row. I want it to read 1 if there is a 1 in either row for the same site and 0 if 1 is not present for either row for each site.

In Cell C3, I have the formula =MAX(($S$4:$S$500=$W$4)*(M4:M500)) entered as array function and is working fine. In Cell J3, I have the similar formula MAX(($S$4:$S$500=$W$4)*(J4:J500)) entered as array function.. This is not working...always gives zero. The difference between Range (m4:m500) and (j4:j500) is that, m4:m500 are all positive numbers and j4:j500 are negative.
