In spreadsheet attached, column F is populated with file names. I need VB script to import content of each respective file into corresponding cell in column E. I've got over 25k of records and the same amount of txt files that I need to insert into cells. I have found this script somewhere on the forums:

But need to modify it to do something like this: read cell from column F > find file with corresponding name > Insert content of that text file into corresponding cell in column E > go to next row and do the same.

In sub which will convert file to PDF and save it to assigned folder and then attach it to email in outlook. All works fine.

However is is possible to modify the code to save fole to respective month folder ( as per current date and year)?

e.g. I have created folder Named 'Trial' in C drive . This has sub folders 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 Each year folder will have sub-sub folders month wise like This has sub folders as Jan , Feb , Mar , Apr .... till Dec Now e.g. if date when the pdf was created is 23/4/14 then it is saved in C:Trials2014Apr automatically. Currently every year I keep creating new folders etc... bit primitive though.

found the following code which works for 1 workbook at a time. I am trying to save 7 workbooks at 1 time. Is it possible?

It will work on the first sheet but none after that. I need to have each workbook saved with the value in cell V77. Also if that is possible, is it possible to change where the file is saved as well?

Right now I have a master workbook that will open the 7 other workbooks, paste data onto several pages in each workbook. I would like the macro to save the workbooks. The workbooks are named: 02 Tuesday, 03 Wednesday, 04 Thursday, 05 Friday, 06 Saturday, 07 Sunday, 08 Monday.

How to save a file, with file- name. but the directory is to be read in worksheet "towns" in Cell1 (brussels) and filename in worksheet "names" in cell B2 (i.e. winter), so it saves to c:russelswinter.txt as a wordpad or kladblok txt file, that keeps a number, so each time we push a button "go back from worksheet names to worksheet towns" the "number" that is saved in the txt document goes up by value +1. In Flemisch, the "old" code goes as follows, and saves the number in the txt file Factuurnummer7.txt. But I want that the file name (here: FactuurNummer7) can be a variable text issue, which has to be read - as already noticed - in cell B2 (with the word WINTER). Prevent Multiple Commas In Text File

I have a spreadsheet that is produced by a macro. This spreadsheet has a table of 30 rows and 24 columns pasted into it from another spreadsheet. The first 6 rows of vary between containing 1 and 6 columns of data. The next 17 rows always have 24 columns of data. The last row has 1 column of data. The macro saves this spreadsheet as a .csv file. The macro works great, but when I open the .csv file in notepad all the rows have 23 commas, even for the rows with only a few columns of data. Here is a shorten example of the file when opened in Notepad....

I have an existing spreadsheet with a column of strings (actually VIN numbers). These numbers correllate to a bunch of text files, that can exist in one of three folders (UsernameDesktop1, 2, or 3) on my desktop. What I need the macro to do is:

1) get the filename from A2 (A1 is a heading row)
2) Find the appropriate text file in one of the three folders
3) Put the folder name into I2
4) Scan the text file for some strings, and copy some data that follows those strings into J2:O2 (I can handle programming this)
5) Close the text file
6) repeat above for the remainder of filenames (about 1800 files)

I have a dataset of shifts and want to compare each shift that needs to be filled to a list of requests for time off (vacation, etc).

For one cell the code is: =IF(ISERROR(SEARCH(B1, A1), 0,1)

Where A1 is the column of requests in comma delimited forme (ie: "AB,CD,EF").

Where B1 is the column containing the person assigned to shift 1 (ie: "AB")

In this case, would return a "1" as no error was returned, as AB was found in the list. Here "1" would represent a schedule conflict.

Without creating many cells for each shift- there are 20 shifts- can I create an array or string together this type of "SEARCH" function?

That does allow me to filter the output in Master, but ideally what I would want to do is not have to set aside 300 lines in the Master file for each of the Staff files. Conceptually, I'd like to have the spreadsheets Staff A, Staff B, etc. look for and export only lines which have data in them and then have Master bring those lines in automatically. This may not be possible, in which case your suggested solution is the best approach.

I have around 50 text files with similar design per attached file. I need to import the text files with criteria below:-

1. include file name
2. let user choose the folder
3. exclude data from "work in process summary" to "work in process cost totals"
4. only have one title in the excel files which all text files is combined "Item, Line ....."
5. If the text files do not have title like "Item, Line, ..." do not import

Is it possible to have all criteria listed above by running a macro?

I am importing a text file that has a lot more than 256 columns. The data will be updated weekly with a different text file. I know how to get past the 256 column limit when importing a text file like this. This link explains the method I am using to import the text file. [url] Since I am importing onto several sheets I get the dialogue box asking me to choose a file to import from for every sheet when I use RefreshAll. The same file that is used by the first sheet will be used by the rest of the sheets. Each sheet just imports a different section of columns from the text file. I want to avoid choosing the same file 30 plus times (once for each sheet) when I click refresh all. Is there a code that would allow me to choose the file for the first sheet, and the other sheets would follow suite?

I have a problem with the Excel 2007 file which I use on Windows 7.

The file suddenly appear message:

Excel Found Unreadable Content in 'File Name'. Do you want to recove the contents of this workbook? if trust the source of this workbook, click Yes.

if I click "YES" than this message will appear:
Excel was able to open the file by repairing or removing the unreadable content........ and so on

And all the file is missing inside the sheet.

Any way out to recover this file?

Automate Export For A Range Of Cells To Text File

Copying Data In Specified Cells In Multiple Files To A New File

I have about a thousand Excel timesheets that all contain 'hours worked' data in a column. Each row contains the area of the project they have worked on and therefore the amount of time they have spent on it. The timesheets also contain the person's name and a w/e date.

I want to sequentially work through each timesheet held locally in a single folder and copy the person's name, w/e date and the hours held in the column into a single new spreadsheet. I need to transpose the data so each amount of time spent on an activity ends up in a column.

I have attempted to record a macro for this but each time I try and run it after the intitial run, it moves to a completely different cell or set of cells to the ones I have directed it and consequently there is no data copied to the new sheet.

I believe this is the first problem..! The second is working through a high number of spreadsheets held in a single locattion but whilst browsing this site I saw the "Excel VBA Loop Through a Folder of Excel Workbooks" page and think this should work fine.

I need to copy multiple cells from 1 worksheet to another worksheet on different workbook and for every entry it has to create a sequence #

- source file (ex. data1.xls, data2.xls, etc)
* data & field structure is fixed
- destination file (case1.xls)
* field structure is fixed

1) destination file (case1) will be opened first, a button is prepared (associated w/ macro) and it will open the source file (ex data1.xls) & then copy the cells B2,B3 and E2,E3
2) the copied cells will be pasted to destination file (case1) in cells B3,C3 and D3,E3 respectively
3) a sequence # will be created in cell A of the destination file

this process will be repeated to other remaining files (ex. data2.xls same structure as data1.xls) manually. It means i will perform the task only if required. i have a created a simple code attached to case1.xls

Insert Text To One File - Remove Text From Equivalent Column In Another File?

Got a slight problem; I am making a "worker-plan", where you should be able to write a name on one file and have it updated (removed) from the equivalent columns on another file automatically. Here's an example with two separate projects:

Project 1 before and after changes:

Project 2 before and after changes:
Attachment 257368
Attachment 257369

You can see here how I intended it to work. When one worker is moved from Project 1 to Project 2, that worker should also be removed from those weeks in Project 1. The previous worker from Project 2 should also be removed from those weeks (in Project 2).

Are there any formulas that can make this work automatically? All week numbers will belong to the same columns in all files.

Edit: There are 30 files that should be syncronized, not just two.. I could also gather all files into one file with sheets, instead of having seperate files.

Lock Empty Cells In Range Based On Other Cells Content

I am trying to lock the unused cells in 32, 2 column by 7 row named ranges, based on whether or not two cells, above each range are equal or less than each other. In other words while one of the cells is less than or equal to the second cell all cells in the range below should be unlocked, as soon as that condition is no longer true the blank cells need to be locked.

I am trying to use this in the Workbook_Sheetcalculate so that the macro will run automatically.

Attendance File - Copy Multiple Cells From Many Sheets To One Main Sheet

I have an attendance file w/least 30 sheets. 29 of the sheets are for each separate group. The other sheet is the main one where I need to collect information like "total participants in attendance" and "total members in group" Then I divide those two and get the percentage of attendance.

The sheets containing the individual groups info are set up like this... (1=they were in attendance)

I know I can manually go through and link the sums of participation and total group size into the main sheet, but I have a lot of workgroups and need to do this every month, is there an easier way? I am willing to change the set up of the sheets.
