I have a text file being used as a log file. Sometime I need to clear this file when I start-up the UserForm. I load this text file with this code. First is this in Module1:

This defines the text file to be added to. The code that actully apends the text to the first open row of the text file is: ....
I wrote some code that toggles bewtweeen the word "Yes" and the function clearcontents.
What it does not do, is if you click on cell A1 and change it's contents and you click on the same cell again it does nothing. You need to click on another cell say A2 before you can go and change A1 again.

I am quite a novice with excel and I am trying to get a cell to show blank when I select a drop down list value in another cell.
Cell D2 contains a validated list containing two items (Air, Vacuum).
If I select Vacuum I wish to change another cells (D4) contents to blank, D4 is also a validated list containing three items (Yes, No, BLANK) the blank is actually a blank space and not the text blank.
I can get the cell to operate correctly but if I select Air in Cell D2 and then Yes in cell D4, but then change my mind and reset to Vacuum in cell D2 i need the cell D4 to clear its contents automatically.

I am trying to avoid a for each style loop.
I have a row (will always be row 3) where each cell contains a day of the week, the days repeats for a year or so, making the row almost 400 cells.
Like this,
Mo - Tu - We - Th - Fr - Sa - Su - Mo - Tu - We - Th - Fr - Sa - Su - and so on...
Though, A3 doesn't have to be "Mo" because the days in this case can change (A3 can start with "Tu"), hence I think I need a macro.
So if this row contains a weekend, "Sa or "Su" I want all the cells in the column beneath that which contains a specific value to be cleared.
Example, if "Sa" or "Su" has 3 values in the columns under them, all the values that contain "X" or "Y" has to be cleared.
Like this:

I have a cell A1 in sheet2 linked cell A1 in sheet1 (simply A1='sheet1'!A1). A1 in sheet1 is a data validation drop down menu.
I want to clear the content of A2 in sheet 2 everytime the content of A1 in sheet2 changes/is updated. That is everytime the value of A1 in sheet1 is changed using the drop down menu.
I tried using a Worksheet_Change event macro (which I do not fully understand) but it won't work with a cell that updates from a calculation. It also doesn't work if triggered from a cell from another worksheet (I tried linking it to cell A1 on sheet1 in this case).

I have an existing spreadsheet with a column of strings (actually VIN numbers). These numbers correllate to a bunch of text files, that can exist in one of three folders (UsernameDesktop1, 2, or 3) on my desktop. What I need the macro to do is:
1) get the filename from A2 (A1 is a heading row)
2) Find the appropriate text file in one of the three folders
3) Put the folder name into I2
4) Scan the text file for some strings, and copy some data that follows those strings into J2:O2 (I can handle programming this)
5) Close the text file
6) repeat above for the remainder of filenames (about 1800 files)
how I can use the contents of a cell (in this case D2 and its a number) as a file name and then save in a specified location. I am using a template to create invoices and then wish to save them all in one folder. Each invoice will have a different invoice number so there will not be any problems with duplications.

I need to match the cell with a census tract in the first file (example1).xlsx with the census tracts in the second file (example2.xlsx), and then return the CSA2010 text from the next column over to the first file.

I have a problem with the Excel 2007 file which I use on Windows 7.
The file suddenly appear message:
Excel Found Unreadable Content in 'File Name'. Do you want to recove the contents of this workbook? if trust the source of this workbook, click Yes.
if I click "YES" than this message will appear:
Excel was able to open the file by repairing or removing the unreadable content........ and so on
And all the file is missing inside the sheet.
Any way out to recover this file?
I have a file that I want to clear certain cells and all option buttons when first opened. I then want the user to be able to save and close the file with the data they have entered. When they go to reopen the file I want the data they entered to still be there. I want the user to get the blank file off the company's server and then save it to there machine when it has been completed and when they go back to this file the information is still entered. Got a slight problem; I am making a "worker-plan", where you should be able to write a name on one file and have it updated (removed) from the equivalent columns on another file automatically. Here's an example with two separate projects:

You can see here how I intended it to work. When one worker is moved from Project 1 to Project 2, that worker should also be removed from those weeks in Project 1. The previous worker from Project 2 should also be removed from those weeks (in Project 2).
Are there any formulas that can make this work automatically? All week numbers will belong to the same columns in all files.
Edit: There are 30 files that should be syncronized, not just two.. I could also gather all files into one file with sheets, instead of having seperate files.

need to do a search based on the contents of a cell, but this cell wil change from minute to minute, so the result of that search will obviously differ each time. So far, the relevant line of macro/VBA code is only searching for what was in the cell at the initial time of recording the macro, for example:

After the document has been closed down I try to open it again and I am told "The file cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents."
When I click details it says "Unspecified error" and "Location: Part: /word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 0"
If I click ok it says "Word found unreadable content in "". Do you want to recover the contents of this document? If you turst the source of this document, click Yes.
Clicking Yes opens the document with all the contents and it is now renamed to Document 1. If I click no it does not open.

Is there an option to have row heights set automatically based on the content of the text in the row, and given a specific column width?
I can right click, and set each row height individually.
I can select serveral rows stacked one on top of the other, each with limited text, and change all of those rows at the same time.
But when I select all rows, and try to change row height, the row height option is not there.
