Number Of Cells Found By .Find/.FindNext

I'm trying to use the .Find and .FindNext functions to find how many cells in Worksheet("WAS") have the same value as the ActiveCell (B3 in this case) on the Worksheet("DDS"). Basically i'm just trying to figure out how many times this sub goes through the Do While loop. However, "tick" keeps coming back as a value of 1. I know there's something I must be doing wrong or something i'm not allowed to do but i'm still pretty new at this.

Find FindNext In Loop

I am using Range. Find() and Range.FindNext() Method. As per my knowledge FindNext() advances in the text and searches for same string found using Find(). I have used Find() for two different searches in Sheet. (Eg. Find() text "Risk" and Find text "ACL", Now when I use FindNext() for the second time (to search "ACL" text), next time when I use FindNext() to search first text ("Risk" it searches prev text - "ACL"). I have used them in a loop. Below is the code i have used.

Formula: Find Number In Range & Calculate If Found

I'm looking for a formula, which says if a number is within a range, perform a calculation. I have a table of ranges (0-6000,6001-10000,10000-12000, and so on). My formula looks at the current month cumulative balance, and inserts the value into the line of the range it falls into. However, the formula now contains lots of nested "IF" statements, due to the number of ranges I have. Also, if my cummulative balance is 6005 for example, but was 5005 in the previous month, I would like to see 95 in the 0-6000 row, and 5 in the 6000-10000 row. I making a complete nonsense of trying to explain myself, so I'll attach a quick example of what I'd like to see.

I need to mine a huge spreadsheet of about 30,000 cells and make columns from specific words. As in.

I need to search for all words "table" even if the word is "My_table" or "aTable" and suck them into one column. I have to do this one several words.

Let me know if you have the solution. I am trying to write something but I am unsure of the syntax at this level.

End A FindNext Loop

I used to dabble in QBasic and VBA programming in my youth, but I haven't done any programming in so many years, most of my prior knowledge is gone. What this means is that I'm picking things up reasonably quickly, but I don't really know what I'm doing at all. Anyway, I'm trying to setup a script that uses Find to search for a particular phrase, deletes the entire row if it finds that phrase and repeats the process until it has deleted every single row that contains that phrase.

Run-time Error '91' When Using .findnext

is it just me and my copy of Excel 2003 or does the following code taken directly out out Microsoft Visual Basic Help result in a run-time error, with the last "Loop While Not" line of code highlighted as the problem?

I was trying to get a multiple find working on my userform, and was always getting the error, so thought I'd try the code in it's most basic form, and I'm still getting the error?

This code goes through the range A1:A500 and replaces any cells that contain the value 2 with the value 5.

and assumed it will count the 6 and 7's.

It always results with 0.

I use my spreadsheet to keep score during tournaments. when i calculate my leaderboard at the end of the event i list the results first place all the way down until it finishes the list of players. i need to be able find players with the same or equal score and list them as tied for the same place.

another words if i get to the 3rd place and i had 3 players tie for third i need my leaderboard to show them all in 3rd place . currently it would number then 345. i listed below how it should format it. i also attached a file it will make it more clear.

We are trying to track the average star values of reviews posted to our clients accounts. Here is an example of the spreadsheet we have set up:

Company Name
Review 1
Review 2
Review 3
Review 4
Review 5

Company 1
[CTY] 4 Stars review content
[ISP] 5 stars review content
[GGL] 4 stars review content
[CTY] 3 stars review content
[YELP]5stars review content

In this example, we use the initial [ ] to track which site the review was posted on ex: [CTY] means city search, [GGL] means google, etc.

We want to be able to track the average star value on each site. So the formula for City Search would scroll across the row of reviews, pick out reviews 1 and 4 and then find the first number in each and average them. The result in this case would be 3.5

From the research we have done so far, this looks like it will require a complex array formula. How to make this formula? Is this even possible what we are trying to do?

I have this formula in columns C:D and G:F -

Try this formula. Array formulas will have curly brackets {} emcompassing the ENTIRE formula. You do not add these, you Enter the formula with Ctrl+Shift+Enter and Excel will add them (details: Array formulas). Many more Excel Formulas

Some of the cells end up with nothing in them. Columns E and H are the differenced of C & D and G & F respectfully. The problem is that some of the cells in E and H state #VALUE! because there isn't any data in the other columns (C2 is blank, D2 is 24, E2 is #VALUE!). If I update C2 with 0 then I receive the correct answer in E2 of -24.

I want to have a macro auto fill all blank cells (even though there is the formula in them there isn't data) with a "0". I am using the below code and it is Compile error: Type mismatch at the "True" part of the code.

How To Find 4th Value Using Three Criteria Found In Same Row

I have a spreadsheet that is about 500 rows and 70 columns big. I am trying to make a formula that lets me name three criteria from the same row, and using that find a value in that same row but different column. I am trying to find the the ampage of a motor. I am given the capacity, speed, and RPM's it can handle. However there are multiple rows that have these same values. I want to find the row with the greatest ampage value and take that value. How might I go about doing this?? Ive tried working with Index, Match, Vlookup, and Hlookup and cannot figure out the correct combination of these.

Heres an example. My capacity is Column A, my speed is in column B, and my RPM is in column S. I am trying to find the amps which are located in column AB. My first three values(capacity, speed, and RPM) are all deteremined and there are 6 rows in which all three of these values occur. I want to find the max amps in a row with those three criteria.

1) search column A for a string
2) as that string is found, move the entire contents of that cell to the same row, column F
3) insert a blank row above the row where the text was found
4) continue to search and perform the same steps

I was able to come up with the code to find a single instance and perform the necessary steps, but I've tried 'til I'm blue in the face to incorporate the FindNext object to parse through the entire worksheet. I thought I was on the right track with the attached code (which could be completely wrong), but it returns my MsgBox "Value Could Not Be Found."

I'm looking for another excel game changer (for the work I do anyway).

I have a dollar amount, and I want to know if any combination of dollar amounts in a particular range of cells will equal that dollar amount. Is this possible in Excel?

Example: I have 20 different dollar amounts in a column. I want to know what combination of those 20 different dollar amounts, if any, will equal $257.97. The dollar amount I'm looking for and the numbers in the range will change with each use. I'm hoping for a formula, but VBA will work too as I could just make a template and copy / paste the numbers in.

Unable To Get The FindNext Property Of The Range Class

I keep getting that error when I'm running my macro. When I debug, it points me to the bolded line in the code below. The larger macro I'm running this function in runs this function some 101 times without error before this happens.

The values of the parameters are as follows when it gives me the error:
Find_Exact("hchen", ws1, "B:B"). The first parameter is the only one that changes in the previously mentioned running of this function.

Find MAX Value Based On LEFT Of A Number Of Cells With IF Statements?

Im trying to pull together a formula to achieve the below. What i have is a spreadsheet to be used by staff in different countries so im looking to make it easy to modify the categories used without the user needing to do anything complex with formulas.

The right hand side of my file (C:E) shows a code for each year we have covered a country with the year as a prefix (2014 - Blah). The left (A:B) is a summary showing the latest year we covered that country.

Current formula:
{=IF(COUNTA(C2:D2)<=0,"","✔-"&MAX(LEFT(C2:D2&"0",4)*1))}

The current formula works fine if you set the columns to where the data actually is but for ease of use i need it to look at the data in rows 1:2 and match up the Continent/Country and then MAX the dates.

Find Text And Copy Found Range

I have some EXCEL files, titled as "AAA", "BBB", "CCC", so on... Calculated values are placed in Column Z for each file. In order for me to export the files to another software, I would need to create another new EXCEL file (I call it MASS) and place all the calculated values in that new file. In that new file, the titles have to be on Column A and the calculated values on Column B.

For example, File "AAA" has 120 calculated values. In MASS, the word "AAA" has to appear on Column A a number of 120 times and the 120 calculated values are then placed on Column B. Each value must correspond to the word "AAA". The same procedure goes for "BBB", in which the word "BBB" is placed on Column A after the end of "AAA". What I want to achieve is by using a macro that will look up the title of the Active Worksheet and then scan Column A in MASS. If the title matches whatever is in Column A, then the macro will paste the corresponding calculated values onto Column B automatically.

For example, for file "GGG", the macro will look up the word "GGG", scan through Column A in MASS for the start of the word "GGG" and paste the calculated values at the start of Column B. Could I have an idea of how might the macro looks like?

Find Method Without Selecting Found Values

My worksheet contains several codes that I then have to lookup in a different worksheet in a different workbook to obtain the relevant data associated with that code. At present I do this by activating the appropriate worksheet, Using Find to locate the appropriate field in that worksheet and then using activecell.offset to get the needed data. This is the only time that these worksheets ever need to be activated so I was wondering if there is a way to do this without having to actually activate the sheet. As an exapmle this is what I currently do:

In Tools/Options/General/Error Trapping I have Break on Unhandled Errors checked.

I have changed my error trapping lables.

I have copied the procedure and renamed it.

I am trying to write a match function to return the row of the value I search for. It is properly returning the value of the row I searched for. What I need to know is how do I get it to spit out information in the rest of the row. Here is my code so far:

That gives me a Type mismatch error when I uncomment it out.

Something I was adviced of before in a situation like this way to Concatenate the columns, e.g
=A2&B2&C2&D2&E2&F2
in a far left column (insert 1 if needed).

That was supposed to be so that I can search through multiple columns. When I do that to test it, it never comes up with results. It always comes back as 0 meaning it wasn't found.

Find Text & Offset By Found Value Row And Column

I'm writing some code where I need to know the column in which a specifc text string occurs. Because of the nature of the sheet, the string will only appear in one column, but that could be in almost any column on the worksheet.

For example say the text string is "Year 1", I need to find the column with this string, and then offset down to a predetermined row, or offset over to the appropriate column (something like below).
