At Startup .xls Doesn't Open At Startup Any Longer- 2007
Apr 25, 2008I use Excel 2007 and I have an .xls that I've had set to auto-open at startup and has worked fine for months now. Alll of a sudden a couple days ago it stopped auto-opening, and I have to now manually open the .xls. I looved in the Advanced>At Startup setting and it's set to the correct folder. What other setting in Excel 2007 do I need to check that would be causing this startup problem?

Every time I start up excel whether it's opening a new spreadsheet or an existing one it tries to open one that I had deleted a while ago. I have nothing in my xlstartup files and I have thoroughly searched all files around it, before it, after it, and all in between. I went to Excel Options>Advanced>General and there is nothing in the field where it says "At startup open all files in:"
It seems to be trying to open the file from my desktop.
Personal Macro Workbook In The Startup Folder Must Stay Open For Recording
Dec 20, 2007I have a macro that is designed to paste a row of formulas into each Subtotal line on a 30,000+ line spreadsheet. I have specified the formulas that I want to paste in the named range "formulas". The macro below worked fine for about 3000 lines, then threw the error Run-Time Error 1004: Paste Method of Worksheet Class Failed on teh line ActiveSheet.Paste. I thought it had just bogged down my computer, so I added teh ScreenUpdating and Calculation lines, but they made no difference. I also tried reducing the range to just a couple thousand lines, which also made no difference. I also have found some suggestions on this forum and others for this error.
In addition to it working fine for 3000 lines, then failing, there are a couple other weird things. One is that on the line in the spreadsheet that threw the error, the formulas were pasted in up to column AX, leaving columns AY through CR blank. The second odd thing is that this exact same macro still works on my sample data spreadsheet (which only has around 50 records).

Has to be a windows shortcut as the workbook is auto generated eachday and sent to me, so if I add vb code it will not matter as I will get a new workbook the next day thus wiping out the vb code.
The person who compiles it leaves it on a certain tab that I dont need, but is commonly used by other people - so I would like a shortcut to skip that worksheet and take me to the worksheet that I need to use.

May 12, 2008What I am trying to do is to write a macro that will automatically copy six columns from worksheet (Sheet 1) to another worksheet (Sheet 2). i.e. ‘Description of Project’, ‘WBS Code’, ‘Rate’, ‘Employee Name’, ‘Premium’, ‘Invoice’, ‘Status’, ‘Total Cumulative Hours’, ‘Total Cumulative Amount’ from Worksheet (from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2)
The problem arises as I know the names of the columns to be copied in Sheet 1 (as details above) but they can be in any order in sheet 1.
In additional the columns ‘Total Cumulative Hours’, ‘Total Cumulative Amount’ are total columns so when they are copied from ‘Sheet 1’ to ‘Sheet 2’ their values should be copied as opposed to the formulas

Dec 28, 2011This is a shot in the dark. I have a workbook with 12 sheets, one for each month of the year. Each month is divided into the different weeks of the month. For example sheet January is divided into:
Week 1: 1/1/12 through 1/7/12
Week 2: 1/8/12 through 1/14/12
and so on:
I would like my workbook to open on the cell containing the date range for that particular date.
For example, if I open the workbook on 1/10/12 I need the workbook to open on the cell range that contains Week 2: 1/8/12 through 1/14/12.

Aug 17, 2008Problem: I want a macro to detect if a workbook is open so I can skip the workbook and move onto the next item. I do not want the user to be prompted in any way. I do not want the workbook to be shared. I simply want to pass over the workbook (but be aware I have passed it over).

About forty team members have their own workbooks and at day’s end the team leader uses a macro to poll each team member’s workbook in turn to gather work results. When gathering these results the macro also needs to write some admin data to each workbook.
I am aware of the workbook sharing option in Excel, but I am wary of using it. It is not a show stopper if a team member’s workbook is already open and work is not gathered on a particular day – we’ll get it the next day. I just need to be able to trap the event and manage it. The central command I use to access a team member’s workbook is :

Both the Master and the other files are all in a folder which is currently called C:Documents and SettingsusernameDesktopPipeline and my VBA script has this defined as the filepath and works exactly as I need it to. I will be moving the folder "Pipeline" to a shared drive on my server so my staff can access it, and will be sending it to colleagues who will be installing it on their own servers so they and their staff can use it. Is there a way to amend the code so that the VBA in the Master file looks in the folder in which it is locate, "Pipeline", no matter what the filepath leading to the "Pipeline" folder is?
